TTC following an ectopic pregnancy

Hi, My DH and I have been TTC for the last 8 months and finally found out I was pregnant before christmas. Since then I have been in hospital and have been treated for an ectopic pregnancy. I was given a hefty dose of Methotrexate which has made me feel rotten and should induce a miscarriage soon. We can't start TTC for 3 months now which is really hard to take as it took us a while the first time - but everything will have to be on hold until the summer now. Has anyone experienced this?

Hi Girls,

Got my HCG results back yesterday. At 4w 3d it was 1318 and today at 4w 5d its 2456. Its increased but hasnt doubled . Got to go back for a repeat test and scan on tomorrow. If nothing shows up on the scan ill be having a camera put inside (laparoscopy (sp) ) to see if they can see anything that way. Im absolutly shitting myself. I went on the EPT and came across a thread from one of the moderators. She said that an increase of anything from 66% is considered a good increase. Mine have increased by 85% so fingers crossed.

I go back tomorrow at 8.30am so hopefully ill know either way then xx

Nice to here a success story quattrocentro.
Lissie I dont think the hsg really affected my cycle but I did get a few cramps but not to bad. But if you look back to april on thread I think this is when pink elephant had hers done and she had lot cramps etc so I think it pretty normal. hopefully it made your tube lovely and clear now. How are the cramps today. I had been getting really bad ov pains up until this month, but have been having reflexology and its really sorted it out.

Quattrocento · 13/06/2007 23:34

lissie - had two - one in 1997 and one in 1998.

The most reassuring thing that anyone said to me through the hell of these ectopics and stuff is a friend sending a card telling me that his mother had lost a tube but gone on to have four.

I thought that my fertility would be reduced by 50% but it isn't. Can't remember the number now but it was something like around 70%. This is because (as someone has already mentioned) a tube can collect eggs from either ovary.

Good luck and sorry

lissie · 13/06/2007 15:05

how long ago was your ep quattro

Quattrocento · 13/06/2007 14:57

Sorry sorry sorry. You must be feeling rotten.

Had two ectopics, and lost a tube, but went on to have two children.

lissie · 13/06/2007 14:42

that would be wonderful! we see the doc on the 30th and he will prescribe the clomid then.

did your HSG affect your ov/cycle?

cedar12 · 13/06/2007 14:42

Talk later got to go to work

cedar12 · 13/06/2007 14:35

It will all start on day cd21 next month. About mid july I think havent worked out exact dates yet.
Asked him about clomid he asked wouldnt do me any good as I am ov and have a pretty regular cycle. He offered to do follicle tracking on the nhs but I decieded it wouldnt be much help as I know when I ov. At least I have got less chance of another ep with ivf any way.
Are you ok when do you start the clomid? You neverknow we might even ended up on a pg thread together!

lissie · 13/06/2007 14:26

i am so so pleased for you my sweet. its so exciting! what date has he given you? did you discuss clomid?

cedar12 · 13/06/2007 13:49

Well back from woking and we have decieded to go for it so will be starting ivf in July all a bit scary. Clinic has good success rates 50% chance it working. The dr only wants to put back one embryo as I am quite young and have had no problems concieving in the past, as my problem is tubal. Not sure yet whether to go for 1 or2 he think i ve got a good chance with one. And less chance of misscarriage etc if it wasnt twins. As I would have quite a high chance of twins.

lissie · 13/06/2007 07:38

dont really know tbh. he didnt mention it in the meeting, so think that there may have been a prob with my day 2 bloods. good luck for today, will be thinking of you x

cedar12 · 12/06/2007 17:49

Hi Lissie I am ok. Didnt mean to ignore you this morning i had to go of and get ready this morning. sil had an op today so had her 2 as well this morning. Remind me why i want more it was ok really.
Looking forward to my appointment tomorrow and I am definatly going to ask about clomid as well as the ivf. It would be great if I didnt have to have the ivf. did your blood test show you were ovulating or is it just to give you a boost?

lissie · 12/06/2007 07:37

hi cedar, how are you doing?

cedar12 · 12/06/2007 07:35

Harvey I think Lissie is probabaly right. Good Luck I hope everything works out this time.

lissie · 12/06/2007 07:18

harveysaunt, your body stretches and expands quite a lot in early pg and going on your history you are more aware of these sensations, i would think its likely to be that but if you're worried then try to get another scan in 10d for reassurance. HTH

Genidef · 11/06/2007 22:33

Hello
Harvey - not sure. You know - I bet it's fine. Can I make a suggestion though - have a wander over to the ectopic pregnancy trust site. www.ectopic.org. It is moderated by people who can answer medical questions, and they just might reassure you. it usually doesn't take long for someone to come along and answer which may be a bit of reassurance before you can speak to a doctor. Which I would do in the next couple of days anyway.

Lissie - - great news.

harveysaunt · 11/06/2007 19:50

Hi Ladies,

Hope you dont mind me jumping on here but i have a question that one of you may be able to answer.

I had a EP and lost right tube last year and last week i found out that i was pregnant again . The thing is im geting some mild pain on my tubeless side, in the exact same spot i had it with the EP. Now i know that i it cant be another right sided tubal EP but is there anything else that it could be? Went for a scan today but they were unable to see anything as im only 4w 3d going off my LMP but i think i ovulated quite late. I needed to have a vaginal scan as they couldnt see anything on the normal one as ive got alot of gas . Ive had my bloods drawn and going for a 2nd lot on Weds so fingers crossed.

I should also say that ive had a MC since the EP so i at least know that my other tube is working.

What could this nagging pain be? Any ideas?

xx

lissie · 11/06/2007 18:03

thanks. its such a relief!

cedar12 · 11/06/2007 17:55

Thats great Lissie

lissie · 11/06/2007 16:43

well, had it done. have to say, was more painful than i thought it would be and ive never been so glad of MN. i asked loads of q's, and bullied the doc into letting me see the pics, but the upshot is that my right tube is clear and my left tube is blocked. i asked how that was possible since i had my left tube removed in feb, he apologised and said that my remaining tube is in good condition.... bring on the clomid!

cedar12 · 11/06/2007 08:16

Same here just ate and drank as normal

Genidef · 10/06/2007 23:09

no one told me I had to. drank a few glasses of water before. but check.

lissie · 10/06/2007 19:27

ooh will be thinking of you. another quick hsg q, (sorry, im such a pain) did you have to have an empty belly?

cedar12 · 10/06/2007 19:22

lissie · 10/06/2007 09:46
