TTC for 6 months+ thread #1

Shemozzle · 23/02/2016 22:25

Anyone care to join me? The monthly bus threads just starting to get me down, I'm starting to feel bitter about congratulating all the first month of trying BFP's and so I need to step away. I was very lucky to have conceived accidentally somewhat miraculously with my dd1 and dd2 and always imagined I'd struggle if actually trying, and here we are.

I'm 29, dp is 43
TTC number 3
Cycle 6
Cd1

Was feeling really upbeat today, very positive. Just finished work and checked Facebook and there's a new baby announcement. I should feel so happy for them but I just want to cry. Sad

Shemozzle · 15/03/2016 18:18

cherry any news? Did AF turn up?

I'm between 6-8 dpo and feeling really positive. Lots of milky cm (sorry tmi) and mild cramping today. I feel hopeful at this point and seem to have cramps at this time every month though :( I need to be less positive so I don't get so disappointed though. I've heard of no less than THREE pregnancy announcements this week already. I need to keep the green eyed monster in check. Dd2's typical 2 year old behaviour in the zoo this afternoon should be enough to keep me grounded you'd think.

shemozzle, lovely - good luck on holding out for testing.

bluebird - we didn't have to wait at all for testing. We our dr referred me for a blood test and DH for SA and it was immediate. I think the waiting list comes later when they actually refer you to the fertility clinic.

BlueberryPi · 13/03/2016 08:11

lucky I've been thinking about sperm analysis for DH also but I might go private depending on waiting times. And obviously want a full check on me too. It's odd - I have regular 28 day cycles, i know I ovulate as I used to take my temps. My progesterone levels look fine too after I ovulate because my temp rise is good and steady. I guess what I don't know is quality of eggs and womb lining.

I do know that I'm probably out this cycle now - I'm 7 dpo and my cm has gone watery, same as previous cycles at this point.

shemozzle your stash of opk's sound impressive!

Shemozzle · 12/03/2016 18:55

lovely AF due on the 24th for me too! You can help me resist then.

cherry I came off long term contraception in October and haven't Sussed out cycle length yet but the average is 30 days. Shortest was 27 and longest was 42 but I'm fairly sure that month was a chemical so that would explain it. Last three have been 28, 30, 30. I was concerned but I've since read a variation of around 4 days is normal so long as you have a period every month they aren't considered irregular.

cherry4 · 12/03/2016 17:26

shemozzle I've been on the pill for years and still trying to suss out my cycle length, it's been getting shorter - Jan was 30 days and Feb 25 days - today is day 29.

Holding off testing for as long as I can!

LovelyFishy · 12/03/2016 13:37

My testing date target is the 24th, that's when AF's due so I want to hold out until then. Or try at least!!

Shemozzle · 12/03/2016 12:25

Ooh lucky enjoy your holiday! Yes I think your probably right. My patience not to test will only get me to 9dpo Grin

lovely I'm about the same cd as you I'm cd19 today but only 2-3 dpo. Perhaps we can be testing buddies. Do you think you'll be testing early or just waiting for AF to show?

cherry ooh nerve racking day today then. Well done for not testing! Does your cycle length vary?

cherry4 · 12/03/2016 07:48

Morning all, af due yesterday and I've some cramping in my fandango so think she'll come today. And the whole thing starts again...

LovelyFishy · 11/03/2016 23:28

Sounds like a good plan Lucky!

Shemozzle I wasn't going to opk this month but I did, I'm trying to keep it cool. But I think it helped a bit as I felt like I was doing something. However now I feel like I've done it all "right" I'm sure I'll be extra gutted if I get a bfn this month. If only it were that simple!

Cd 17, 3 dpo I think. Why must the wait seem so long?!

LuckyBlackKitty · 11/03/2016 19:08

Tomorrow is holiday time - a week of rampant sex to get well and truly upduffed! - my latest baby making tactic Grin

LuckyBlackKitty · 11/03/2016 19:05

Blueberry we've been TTC for a year now.

We've just started tests. I've had my 21 day bloods back and all is normal. I'm waiting for DH to book his appointment for Sperm analysis. He's been to Drs but needs to book an appt at the hospital. He's dragging his heels a bit and I'm desperately trying not to nag. I think it's a bit of s head in sand scenario.

Shemozzle I give you a week, maybe less if you find a random opk that evaded the clear out Grin Good luck!

Shemozzle · 11/03/2016 13:20

Hi sammi peaches and blueberry hope I haven't missed anyone.

lucky so well said. Ttc is tough for anyone who doesn't get pregnant instantly to different degrees.

Been trying to post for a few days but my phone keeps crashing when I tried to load the last page. So I think I'm 1dpo today. nearly missed the fertile window due to a combination of dp still not grasping how infrequent we are dtd and secondly due to some dodgy ovulation sticks I've been using. I suspected they were wrong and tried a different brand with the same sample and it turned out they just weren't working. Urgh. So if anyone isn't getting true positives consider changing brand. Both the types I had were cheapies but different. Anyway talked to dp too and I think we managed to dtd a few times at the right time.

Today I've cleared out 'the drawer'. The place I stash hpt and OPK's so no one finds hundreds of wrappers and tests in the bin and thinks I've lost my mind. Wow! I couldn't believe how many there were Shock. So I need you all to help me on my challenge to not test obsessively anymore. I'm not bothered about the cost as I just have cheapies mostly, but you should have seen how many their were. Yesterday I took 2 ovulation sticks and was comparing them downstairs. Then I lost them. Had MIL due round and was paranoid she would find them and think I was pregnant. Anyway, this obsessive peeing on sticks must stop! How long do you think I can last?

Hi cherry! Welcome.

Ditto what lucky said. Doesn't matter how long you are trying...it's never easy. I actually found it harder the first six months than the last few. Still have moments of anxiety but for the most part I'm just taking it easy, not focussing on it too much and just seeing what happens. Might get some tests started in the next few months, but not yet Smile

BlueberryPi · 11/03/2016 10:22

Thank you lucky that was a lovely post. I'm starting to think about going to the DRs. How long have you been ttc?

LuckyBlackKitty · 11/03/2016 08:24

Welcome cherry

Fingers crossed this is your month!

LuckyBlackKitty · 11/03/2016 08:23

Hi blueberry

Don't feel you can't feel down because you've only been TTC 6 months. It's tough! It's tough at 4 months or so when you come to realise that it's not just going to take a couple of months and you could be in for the long haul. It's tough when you hit the 6month point and you start to wonder if there's something wrong. It's tough when you hit month 7 and 8 and 9.

Just because we are a little further down our journey doesn't mean we deserve to be more sad or down.

Fingers crossed you get your BFP soon xx

cherry4 · 10/03/2016 19:53

Hoping it's ok to join late. I've been doing this alone too long!

Age: 31
TTC: #1
Cycle: I stopped taking the pill in November 2014 so....15?!

I've always had irregular periods, and my period didn't come back until August 2015, and is only just becoming regular. I've already had tests for pcos (and don't have it), my GP has said we can be referred to the sub-fertility clinic but trying to give it a bit longer to happen by itself now my periods are happening regularly.
AF due tomorrow!

Hi everyone :)

BlueberryPi · 10/03/2016 19:42

Thanks bluebird. Reading back my post seems really negative Blush. I think i posted on a bad day. 13th cycle must be hard. Flowers for you.

bluebird3 · 10/03/2016 18:47

Welcome blueberry. I know what you mean about feeling surprised it's taking longer than expected. I'm 30 but on my 13th cycle. Some days I can feel positive but others I get really down. Just trying to stay hopeful. Fx for you this cycle. I'm currently cd5.

BlueberryPi · 09/03/2016 20:25

Hi ladies, can I join? I'm 35. This is the 6th month ttc no.1. I have regular 28 day cycles, not sure why it hasn't worked so far. It's really starting to get me down and I can't join any of the other threads on here as I get insanely jealous of the ohws (one hit wonders!)
I'm currently 3dpo.

peaches88 · 09/03/2016 18:55

I really got my hopes up, my period was even later this time and I had new symptoms. It's getting harder as every month goes by.

luckyblackkitty I hope your week of relaxing helps you, we're of abroad in a few weeks time, I'm hoping some sun and escaping from life will help us to relax too.

StarkyTheDirewolf · 06/03/2016 12:50

lucky mancomb I wondered that myself! He can usually smell a few days before I'm due on af so we'll definitely have to wait and see! He is a bloodhound with a side business in eggs it would seem

LovelyFishy · 06/03/2016 01:31

Welcome Peaches.

I'm not one for temping either. For one my shifts at work would make it really difficult. I've just downloaded the Ovia app so hoping that helps this month!

A trip would be great, but I'm not sure we have the time! A lot of our Ann al leave this year has gone to friends weddings. May have to wait a bit.

LuckyBlackKitty · 05/03/2016 14:48

Oh peaches - it's so tough, isn't it. One of my best friends had just had a beautiful baby and another is 6months pregnant. I'm so envious of them. I'm happy for them but can't help wishing it was me.

It sounds like you are doing the right things. You could always temp as well, although it's not for me. I'm not a morning person and by the time I remember I have to take my temp before doing anything else, I've already gone for a wee / had a swig of coffee / got up.

lovely I'm really looking forward to our trip! You should do it Grin
