First time TTC - join me on this journey

Hi all, this is my first time TTC and would be grateful for anyone else who wants to join this journey with me until I get a BFP.

I have been using the Period Diary app to track my ovulation/fertility dates. I have a period that lasts 6 days and usually my cycle is approx 27days. According to the app my ovulation date was yesterday (13th Feb). We have tried twice before this date.

Wondering if there are any others which have had successful pregnancies using solely apps? Or if they have any tips on identifying ovulation?

Would love to share the highs and lows with you lovely people on this journey x

Hello. This is a lucky thread because I got my BFP too! Over the moon, but very anxious & just hoping that all goes well. Sending good luck to everybody!

Bellini239 · 18/04/2016 13:38

Congratulations!!!!!!! Woooooopeeeeeeeeee! Xxxxx

Harpsichord85 · 18/04/2016 07:40

That's amazing news nataliefruit! Congratulations! I'm feeling like this is a lucky thread Smile xx

Fuzyfelt23 · 17/04/2016 23:05

Wow congratulations!!!!! Hope it stays BFP nataliefruit. Apparently its better to DTD before ovulation because sperm stays alive for a few days, where as if you do it just after ovulation the sperm might not get to the egg in time before it breaks up xx

nataliefruit · 17/04/2016 14:45

I know I feel guilty like I cheated pushing to the front of the line! Hopefully you all won't be too far behind Grin I really didn't think it'd happen this month as we really didn't DTD that much after ovulation (lots b4 tho) so it just goes to show ladies all it takes is one little swimmer to make it!

It's just one test tho so not getting too carried away yet, especially with the negative clearblue on Friday. All a bit surreal at the moment!

Blondie0912 · 17/04/2016 14:26

Ahhhh Natalie CONGRATS Hun! How exciting - hopefully this thread is going to start becoming lucky now with two BFPs!!!!! Grin must say I'm pretty jealous how quickly you got back to normal after the pill and then to get a BFP- how fantastic!!! Hope you're celebrating today Grin

nataliefruit · 17/04/2016 13:32

Think I may have just got a bfp!! ShockShock

Bellini239 · 17/04/2016 13:07

Hi everyone how's it going?! Think af is due imminently can feel it coming lol. How long has everyone been trying for? Xx

nataliefruit · 17/04/2016 11:15

Sorry AF got you Fuzy, at least your cycle seems regular as you knew it was due today. Fingets crossed for next month. Hows everyone else doing?

Still no AF here... got a FRER ready for Tuesday if she doesn't show. It's driving me nuts!! Confused

Fuzyfelt23 · 17/04/2016 10:55

AF arrived Sad onto a new cycle

nataliefruit · 16/04/2016 13:37

Still waiting for AF here. If she doesn't arrive I'll test again on cd 32 (29 currently) as that was the day I got my period last month. Frustrating as I'm going on holiday next week & just want to know one way or the other so I know not to drink etc if it is bfp.

Sorry you're feeling like AT is on her way Fuzyfelt, fx for next month.

Fuzyfelt23 · 16/04/2016 08:34

Any news today? 1 day until AF and I can feel it arriving!!

nataliefruit · 15/04/2016 19:37

Forgot to say happy baby dust to all :)

nataliefruit · 15/04/2016 19:36

The honest answer Fuzyfelt is I don't know - I only came off the pill in early February, had a withdrawal bleed & a 32 day cycle (which I realise is really good just after coming off hormonal contraception). I'm on cday 28 today but ovia reckons my period was due yesterday based on my last cycle. I'm16 days post ov either way so maybe it's still a bit early.

Just took an opk out of curiosity as I'd heard some ladies have found they're pregnant from strange results (clutching at straws much?!) & strangely got a weak positive so maybe I need to get a different brand of pregnancy test! This morning was a clearblue one

Have you got your peak opk yet Blondie? You might be lucky enough so catch that egg when DP comes home :)

Blondie0912 · 15/04/2016 19:16

Hey Fuzy welcome!!!!!!!!! You are showing some serious restraint not testing early- good girl!! Fingers crossed its a BFP!!!!

Nataliefruit- I really hope it's going to turn to be BFP in a few days!!!! Some people have definitely gotten their BFP after a few days post AF so let's keep our fingers crossed! Last month I was 8 days late for no reason HmmHmmHmm had no symptoms either way (wasn't even really expecting AF when she arrived!) but was glad for a new cycle to start! Sometimes I think Mother Nature just decides to mess with us when we actually start caring about our cycles!

I use Ovia too and love it- although I'm apparently in my fertile window now- and the DH is away on a stag do (great timing!) so obvs this month is out! Onto cycle 3 Grin

Fuzyfelt23 · 15/04/2016 19:08

It is a great app, very detailed and love the little handy hints it gives you. Isn't this such a stressful process... Waiting and waiting and then wondering why it hasn't worked! Hopefully I'll be a bit more lucky on Cycle 2.

Nataliefruit - are you ever late or always in time? I'm like clockwork so i know if i'm late somethings awry

nataliefruit · 15/04/2016 19:02

Welcome Fuzyfelt. I use ovia as well, handy app to look back at previous cycles if nothing else.

AF is now 2 days late & negative clear blue test this morning so not sure what's going on. Had what could've been symptoms but you know what it's like when you're looking for symptoms you'll always find them! Where is everyone else in their cycles?

Harpsichord85 · 15/04/2016 18:50

Hi fuzyfelt! Just downloaded Ovia and it's great! Don't know how I hadn't discovered it before. I now have 3 fertility apps on my phone...obsessed much? Have a good weekend everyone!

Fuzyfelt23 · 15/04/2016 13:00

Hi All,

Also First Time TTC. Cycle 1.
At the end of my 2WW, AF due in 2 days and I'm getting a bit jittery.
Have had symptoms but not sure if its my mind playing tricks :-|
May take an early test today to see what the result is.
I use an app called Ovia, it's great, gives you commentary on what you input.

Harpsichord85 · 15/04/2016 12:07

Hi every one!

Hope you are all well! In my 2 week window now..Bring on the wait! I feel no different to other months but trying not to symptom watch....

How's everyone else?

nataliefruit · 12/04/2016 14:35

Hi ladies, hope youre all well.

That's interesting Harpsichord. I'd never be able to do it as I'm terrified of needles (something I'll have to get over if we do get pregnant!) but ask me again in a year's time! Grin

AF is due on Thurs so counting down the days. Haven't had any more (imaginary or otherwise) symptoms so who knows what will happen. I've got a couple of tests ready to go at the weekend if she doesn't turn up but just trying to stay distracted until then.

Good luck to you all Grin

Harpsichord85 · 12/04/2016 08:51

Morning everyone! Hope you are all well. I agree Bellini I am more relaxed now after over 10 months of trying than I was at the beginning
I'm beginning to enjoy the process and take things as they come.
Although I believe more in natural methods rather than having a doctor products and poke me! That's why acupuncture appealed to me so I did some reading around it. I read a blog by the model Ruth Crilly called 'the uphill' I recommend you all read it. It's hilarious. She talks about her ttc troubles and she resorted to acupuncture and It worked quite soon for her.

Also if you find the right practioner they can give some good practical advice. For example my lady has asked me to record my bbt so she can see if there's a problem in my cycle. She's also said that if she suspects a particular issue she can make referrals to the doctor and she will give us advice on how to handle the nhs because it can be quite restrictive nowadays. So if you can find the right person then it can be really helpful. If you think you want to try it go on recommendations or shop around until you find someone who is experienced in fertility acupuncture. It can be worth the money then.

I'm cd 18 and I normally ovulate on day 19 I think! Fingers crossed!

Have a good day everyone xxx

Bellini239 · 11/04/2016 21:38

Hi everyone how's your days been?? Natalie: well, you've only started ttc so it's natural to want it happen straight away and it's such an exciting time of life... I've been ttc for 8 months but oddly more relaxed about it now then I was at the start!

Harp: what do you think of acupuncture? I was going to do some fertility acupuncture in east London but it's quite expensive and sometimes the cynical in me gets the better where I think it's maybe just a big heap of hocus pocus. Xx
