Symptom spotters, tww - ers, slightly hysterical hormone laden ladies! Regs, lurkers, intermittent posters! Our raison d'etre is 'am I pregnant?' Depending on how much Ovia (Whybird/Ovibitch) has pissed us off/messed with our fw she is either the oracle or a sanctimonious charlatan.

Just a warning, we move FAST! Our threads last on average, about a week before they're full.

Thread 9 , Welcome one and all! Group of weirdos, wee hoarders, covert opk or okp, depending on what your autocorrect decides addicts with a side business in CM management!

We do not judge, we enjoy TMI, we i encourage waiting to poas nobody listens and all the grossness you can find from a group of intelligent, articulate ladies. Fart stories make us laugh, stories about cervical mucus, pooing, cysts and nausea equally welcome.

Post your stats and add your dates. We have a register thanks to kat, I have been dubbed the resident piss stick queen loaaaaaads of bfp'ers who keep us positive! We don't have rules, we love a good symptom spot, we try to stay grounded and not be hysterical sometimes we manage it aswell

We like acronyms, we make some up: PET = Proper expensive test. We love the d(h)...which can of course mean 'dearest' or 'dickhead' why, what were you thinking?

starky my view is that if it keeps you happy and positive then so what. We have bought quite a bit now. A bedding set, changing mat, moses basket and stand, room thermometer, lightshade and record book. We've already chosen the nursery colour too. I tried to control OH but it just wasn't happening. He's a very organised person we also know what pram and car seat etc we want

SuchaJem · 05/02/2016 22:11

Thanks pug!
Agreed the support on here is amazing, not quite sure what I'd have done without this.

StarkyTheDirewolf · 05/02/2016 21:27

I'm minus weeks in pregnant not even a bit pregnant and already buying stuff Blush as predicted, Dh came home with the buggy after he'd been to the gym. It's in the box, stashed under the bed.

Yes alice, technically human pregnancies are on average 38 weeks. It's the extra 2 weeks before ovulation added on which makes it 40 weeks.

TBH, hardly any babies arrive on their due date anyway! I believe its something tiny like 4% are born on their due date. A normal length of pregnancy is between 37-42 weeks anyway.

Pugmummy87 · 05/02/2016 21:21

Lol Cosmo, it's a bit of an old fashioned way of working it out, back before there were scans! All babies grow at approximately the same rate for the 1st trimester of pregnancy, so you can reassure him! Grin

AliceScarlett · 05/02/2016 21:19

Does that mean human gestation is actually 38 weeks?

I would 100% be buying stuff even if I was 4+1 weeks pregnantBlush

Pugmummy87 · 05/02/2016 21:11

Sorry Jem, LMP is Last menstrual Period and EDD is Estimated Delivery Date.

Thanks Indi!

Co5mo · 05/02/2016 20:58

Thanks Miley. The support on here is amazing.

Although I'm not intending to buy, I had just stumbled across that discount too.

Pugmummy the counting from lmp confused him because of the not being pregnant bit, then when I explained the dating scan he got even more confused. It would be wrong if you have a fat or a skinny baby apparently 😅😅😅

IndiX · 05/02/2016 20:55

I have everything crossed for you pug, I had that same positive 'feeling' too, just relax easier said than done I know but you will know very soon! Grin

SuchaJem · 05/02/2016 20:53

Thanks pug - what's lmp and edd though?

Pugmummy87 · 05/02/2016 20:51

Indi, thank you, maybe i'm not going mad then. Trying not to think about it too much, although i am feeling positive about it this month. We'll see. Determined to hold out testing until the 16th. Our anniversary is on the 19th, so would be a lovely early surprise if i was.

Pugmummy87 · 05/02/2016 20:49

Pregnancy is dated from your last period. However, it assumes you have a 28 day cycle and therefore ovulated around day 14. Technically a pregnancy is only 38 weeks long if you count from conception, not 40 weeks.
We don't tend to use LMP to calculate pregnancy exactly nowadays, it just gives your care providers a rough idea of how many weeks you are, a dating scan done around 12 weeks will be more accurate (although there are always exceptions to the rule!) to determine the EDD.
Most of the time the EDD calculated by scan is only a few days either side of the EDD calculated by LMP.

SuchaJem · 05/02/2016 20:38

cosmo I find it quite confusing too! Isn't it dated from the first day of your last period? Which is weird because you weren't pregnant then?!

Mileymoocow · 05/02/2016 20:37

indi I definitely wouldn't it the discount wasn't worth so much. But one way or another we'll hopefully have a baby one day so I guess it's worth it. I'm keeping everything else for after our 12 week scan though.

Also, I know symptom spotting is a ball ache but I noted every little symptom down and saw a bit of a pattern. Think I had symptoms that have persisted until now since about 7 or 8 dpo.

IrregularCommentary · 05/02/2016 20:16

Ladies, I ordered some opks the other day before I got my BFP. They've just arrived tonight and wondered if anyone wanted them? Happy to post on if anyone does x

IndiX · 05/02/2016 20:14

Miley I saw that sale too!! I was thinking was it too soon but really want the discount and to start buying baby stuff ASAP!

IndiX · 05/02/2016 20:13

Sorry I haven't really been able to properly catch up but just read the last few messages. I would say 7dpo is not too early, my boobs suddenly started hurting 7dpo ( never had sore boobs before and they were sort of shooting pains/ache/sensitive nipples) from that point the boob pain has still not gone and I got a bfp on 11dpo. Symptom spotting can make you crazy but trust your instincts and what your body is telling you. I have a good feeling about this month for you ladies xx

Mileymoocow · 05/02/2016 20:10

co5mo I have my everything's crossed for you.

Just checking in before my Indians arrives and I slip into a food coma.

Anxiety crept up on me like a sneaky little bastard today and I had a mini panic attack over the possibility of me causing a miscarriage. OH is worried slightly I think judging by his latest offer of talking to him while he's having a poo but I've calmed down now and realised how absolutely ridiculous I am.

Early days, I know, but we're going to buy the nursery furniture this week because mothercare have 20% off until the 17th Feb and we'll save enough on that to buy the car seat later down the line. Is it a bit crazy?

StarkyTheDirewolf · 05/02/2016 20:04

I've been having weird fizzing, fluttery, bubbly weirdness in my nethers all week pug I'd started to think it was psychosematic! That and weird jelly legs on and off all day!

I always thought that as soon as I got a positive opk then I was literally ovulating, but apparently most ladies will ovulate 12-48 hours after the LH surge is detected, most common is 36 hours after the actual surge.
Found this in an article somewhere..can't link article because the dog is sat on my boob shelf and demanding a fuss, so I have one eyeball free!
Once I detect my LH surge, when should I have intercourse?
It's best to have intercourse the day of the LH surge and the two days after. Also consider "insurance" sex for one more day in case you ovulate late. Perfect timing would be to have had intercourse the day before the LH surge as well, but that can be hard to predict for those with an irregular cycle. If you don't know when you might ovulate, having sex every other day from cycle day 10 through a positive OPK. If you are taking your basal body temperature, you should have sex through the first day of your temp rise to make sure you cover all days (though after the rise is usually too late).

I've had heartburn for the past 2 days, tender nips (but that is usual post Ov), some weird 'fizzy' sort of pain/feeling low down and spotting since late yesterday evening. I'm anyway from 3dpo to 7dpo. Even at 7dpo, it's too early for symptoms isn't it? Tell me it's all in my head!

LaraG13 · 05/02/2016 19:46

Sorry, just read back and that's basically what you're saying anyway starky

LaraG13 · 05/02/2016 19:45

Hi all! Totally can't keep up with the thread this week and haven't read half of your posts yet!

planeteer and starky my understanding was that you assume you'll ovulate 12-36 hours after your first positive OPK, not last? That's what I've been working from. Could be wrong!
