Hi ladies,

This is the 2nd thread following on from

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/2452018-Waiting-to-try-and-cycle-a-mess-from-the-pill

For everyone who is entering the madness that is Ttc after stopping the pill. Maybe to start the thread we could all post our stats, so we remember where everyone is at and don't have to check the old thread. X

Hi first, glad appt went well. Mine was exactly the same last month. Uss didn't see anything. The cons could feel lump though so fine needle biopsy sent. I phoned a week later for result, which was normal. I didn't get the letter until at least 2-3 weeks later. Which actually said it was all fine but because biopsy didn't show anything either they want to offer me a follow up appt just to make sure lump not changing. I would say give them a ring in a week as results may take ages by post. How are you feeling? My boob bruise took about 3-4 weeks to go from where biopsy was taken. X

said they would be discussed next wed/thurs but then wait for letter

LemonShizzleCake · 18/02/2016 18:00

FX for you First - sounds pretty positive. How long will you have to wait for the results? From what I've heard, they will generally hurry things up if they think there's cause for concern, so if they are saying it'll be a while then it's probably because they're not too worried!

firstgo1984 · 18/02/2016 17:06

They couldn't see anything on the breast ultrasound but agree that there is an area that feels different. They have taken some biopsies but they think most likely benign. Long wait for the results now!

thisisbloodyridiculous · 18/02/2016 14:53

FX first

Maple14 · 18/02/2016 14:41

FX all goes ok first.

Lemon my GP did test my Rubella immunity when doing my other blood tests and just said to take folic acid as a priority.

firstgo1984 · 18/02/2016 13:49

Off for my breast clinic. Wish me luck!

11dpo (possibly - ewcm for a few days along with sensitive breasts and a few hours of left sided cramping. But typically i stopped opks that weekend!).
Creamy CM and nil else to report other than a few cramps at 8 and 9dpo.

LemonShizzleCake · 18/02/2016 13:32

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Maple our stories do indeed sound very similar! Sorry to hear about your mc Flowers hopefully things will start to fall into line for you soon.

Poin wowzers is right, though I used a slightly different word at the time. The thing that flagged it was an elevated prolactin level - the GP actually asked me, "you're not breastfeeding are you?" ...I was a bit Hmm Shock that he'd apparently missed the point of the tests entirely...

Eggs keeping the OPKs alien sounds like a good idea for now - I tend to be a bit of an over-analyser anyway, so giving me a chemistry set to play with would only exacerbate the problem! Will DTD as often as humanly possible and see what happens...

Before that though, does anyone have any experience of "preconception checkups"? Is this just an American thing, or something you should do if you have specific health issues to check over? Googling has garnered mixed reviews, some say definitely have one, some say don't bother and just deal with it once you're pregnant. Aside from the coming-off-the-pill rigmarole I am pretty normal and healthy, as is my DH, no family history of anything nasty that I know of. Just wondered if it's worth going to check on things like vaccinations before putting a bun in the oven? Don't want to be precious about it and feel like I'm wasting NHS time. Any thoughts/advice/experiences appreciated Smile

eggsinthefridge · 18/02/2016 07:49

Welcome Lemon. Keep the opks and tempting alien for the time being. Just DTD regularly and try and keep the crazy stuff for later if you need it hopefully you won't.

Sorry about AF Poin

Maple14 · 18/02/2016 07:25

Hi Lemon. Welcome! Sounds like we have similar stories. Also came off pill in July 2014 and have unexplained missing periods. Cycles have been 180, 189, 60 since then. I did not notice EWCM on any of those cycles. I fell pregnant on the last cycle but mc at 9 weeks. So now waiting to see how that's left my cycle.

I've never tried any sort of OPK / temping as just felt my cycle was all too unpredictable. Really hoping to establish a 'cycle' some time soon!

Poin86 · 18/02/2016 06:58

I'm cool Cookie as I say, AF was totally expected this month so although I had some crazy symptoms I know my body is just a bit mental and was trying to confuse me and we aren't strictly "trying" at the moment anyways.

Welcome Lemon Wowzers what a rubbish GP for scaring you like that! The pill does mess with you! I've been pretty lucky to return to normal straight away with strong OPKs but a lot of others haven't had it so easy. Nothing is TMI here - share away! Good luck! [Smile] xxx

LemonShizzleCake · 18/02/2016 00:24

PS Congratulations Yvonne ! Wishing you a smooth and easy pregnancy Smile Flowers

LemonShizzleCake · 18/02/2016 00:22

Hello, can I join? Have been lurking on MN for a while, but this is my first post, so be gentle with me...

Name: LemonShizzle
Age 30
TTC #1 as of this week!
Came off Microgynon July 2014, was on it for about 12 years. Cycles have ranged from 47 to 177 (!) days since then, though seem to have settled to an average of about 50 days more recently. EWCM is pretty unpredictable and not always present, but temp charting shows a spike usually 10-12 days before AF arrives, so I think my luteal phase is about 12-14days.

DH and I have recently decided the time is right to take the plunge! No idea what will happen or how long things will take - the world of OPKs and POAS is currently very alien to me, have only been temp charting since coming off the pill as a way of tracking when I need to be prepared for AF. The witch.

The fact that things took so long to settle down post-pill prompted some tests and scans with the GP/hospital - I've been told I have multi-follicular ovaries, though no particular explanation of what this means, just told that it shouldn't necessarily affect getting pregnant per se. They basically told me that all tests, hormone levels etc were within normal ranges (aside from a terrifying couple of days when they said I might have a tumour on my pituitary gland, described by the no-bedside-manner GP as a brain tumour ...luckily they re-tested and everything seems fine...). They couldn't explain why AF was taking her sweet time to turn up to a schedule, aside from pill hangover, but said it was likely that I wasn't ovulating regularly. Told me to wait until I was TTC, and if it didn't work after 6months, to come back for more tests.

So that's me. From what I've seen on this thread so far, I think I'm amongst friends - not sure how much help or advice I'll be able to offer to others as such a newbie, but would be grateful for any insights from others in a similar position! Willing and able to provide virtual hugs, cake and gin in return Wink x

Cookie22 · 17/02/2016 21:37

Sorry, that should say 'sorry to hear about AF Poin' - man I'm well and truly off my rocker tonight!! Can't even blame 'baby brain' ShockBlush xx

thisisbloodyridiculous · 17/02/2016 21:35

Oh and poin I'm knackered too! Writing this from bed Wink rock & roll!!

Cookie22 · 17/02/2016 21:35

Sorry to hear about AF Yvonne & that you're feeling crappy. Hope you feel better soon!
Yvonne I done another OPK yest afternoon and it was faint, so not sure what is going on. Not sure if I'm in 14dpo or 1dpo now, waah! Really haven't dtd much the past few days as I thought I was in the wait! Xx

thisisbloodyridiculous · 17/02/2016 21:34

I've been symptom spotting today. I'm nauseous (again - 4th day in a row), sort of ache in the side of my boobs (ransom I know!) v moody, some random feelings in abdomen and dull achey ness. It's probably just in my mind (except the nausea which is driving me MAD at the mo!) & I've had a long, hard day at work. So just feeling a bit meh!! Obviously hope I am upduffed but doubt it will be that simple! So glad I have you lot to rant to...! GrinBrewChocolate

Poin86 · 17/02/2016 21:22

Feeling crappy as well as crampy haha. Damn autocorrect!xx

Poin86 · 17/02/2016 21:07

Lou start the OPKS in about 9 days maybe?

AF arrived as expected around 11 this morning. Feeling crampy - cramps, sore boobs, sicky and headachy. Very tired too so going to bed in a second. Only light as normal but was totally expected so not feeling too disappointed.xx

Yvonne1986 · 17/02/2016 20:30

Cookie that's so confusing have you tried any more OPKs incase it is OV? X

Loulabelle1990 · 17/02/2016 20:26

Okay thank Yvonne I am definitely going to use the OPK's this cycle. I have been in absolute agony with period pains the last 2 days! Glad she's finally turned up though.

I think I would do the same as you, only tell close family first off then let everyone else know after the 12 week mark. So excited for you Grin

lawyeredout82 · 17/02/2016 20:06

Mmm cd 18 I think (difficult to tell - AF was sporadic and didn't get going for a while) but only one or two dpo...

Cookie22 · 17/02/2016 20:02

Thanks Lawyered! Have been off the pill since Aug & it still seems to be playing tricks on my body Shock actually would rather have AF now and start a fresh, new cycle as I just feel like this cycle is heading nowhere now! What cd are you on? Xx

lawyeredout82 · 17/02/2016 19:58

Cookie I got my first period a couple of weeks ago after stopping the pill - Last month I got a solid smiley then at around 10 dpo (I assume) I got ewcm before my period. Have come to the conclusion that the pill does evil evil things to your body and as a result your mind goes mad as you have to analyse the stupid symptoms the pill has given you (sorry for little rant) xx

Cookie22 · 17/02/2016 19:41

Thanks ladies for your support. It's disappointing seeing a bfn but at least I've prepared myself for the worst now! How are you all doing? Chapman, glad to hear you're feeling more positive now hun. It's natural to feel down about the whole thing but you're quite right having a plan of action with the OPKs.
Hoping this cycle brings you luck! Yvonne, it must be so lovely to share your news with close family & friends. It's what I look forward to most! Here's hoping you have a relaxing and smooth pregnancy Mrs!

I'm just too confused now with what is going on with my body. Starting to think I could have potentially ov'd yesterday (hence the ewcm, positive OPK on Monday). Have also had a horrendous UTI type pain today, which I had last month around ov. I'm super confused as my clear blue definitely had static smiley 2 weeks ago! Argh! My other frer came through the post today so don't know whether to wait to weekend to test again or if I'm back at start of tww it's pointless!! Sorry for the incredibly long rant! Xx
