Currently knitting a baby blanket and thinking now about making one for myself! Would be majorly jumping the gun tho! Not making me overly jealous as the person I'm knitting it for went through hell to get pregnant! But she is now due end of January!

FXSkip · 07/01/2016 16:10

Hi all! I've been covertly observing this for a few days but then thought I'd join in since I am driving my self mad over-analysing every single bodily action!! I'm 27, came off Marvelon at start of December thinking I'd be super chilled about it. Then immediately began obsessing Shock
I'm on CD 36 according to Ovia app, but have only had the withdrawal bleed. Now wishing for AF to come asap, so I can at least do some tracking. I've also just ordered OPK and thermometer so I can enter more data (which I seem to be obsessed with) and hopefully understand whats going on a bit....

Cthulhoo · 07/01/2016 15:53

I'm using the ovulation testing kits which show fertile and peak fertility days (flashing smiley face and static smiley face ...). On those I reliably do get positives. I do seem to have a fairly short post-luteal phase of just over 10 to perhaps 12 days.

I did try temping but couldn't properly get in the habit of taking the temperature at the same time; I find the testing sticks easier to use. I've just recently heard of pre-seed lube. I will have to ask my partner what he thinks of it - so far we're not using any lube at all.

Ni4444 · 07/01/2016 15:41

Cthulhoo do not fear! Yes this is a crazy, unpredictable journey...but now you're getting blood tests and medical intervention you will soon know more that you /they can do to help! I know it's frustrating, but don't lose hope!

Are you getting positives on Opks? And are you temping? Have you tried acupuncture for fertility? Supposed to be excellent! And have you tried pre-seed lube? The cervical mucus gets less as we age so that lube helps the tadpoles to swim! (regular lube can actually interfere with conception so don't use them!)

Cthulhoo · 07/01/2016 15:25

Okay, some stats:

TTC #1, cycle 10, currently CD 3, quite short cycles of around 24 days. My age (39) isn't in my favour but I'm hoping the fact that I am reasonably fit, have never smoked and take all my vitamins (B6, D, folic acid, C, iron, zinc) helps shift the odds in my favour. I've cut down on coffee and have cut out alcohol.

Last cycle I've had a blood test done to check for hormone levels and apparently they were very low so I'm scheduled for another blood test this month at a slightly later time in the cycle to confirm (or not) the findings.
I'm almost hoping they'll confirm that hormone levels are (too) low, because then at least there's something that can be done and can be helped. I'm feeling quite helpless because there seems to be a limit of what I can do to improve my chances - it's out of my control and most of it seems to be a waiting game. Sad

StarkyTheDirewolf · 07/01/2016 15:17

Welcome Cthulhoo and all other newbies!

I briefly thought about doing a test this morning....but after a quick squeeze of the breasts/oracles. ..I decided to wait!plus I had to go out and I need AT LEAST an hour of scrutinising after taking one I've decided.

Today's symptoms could be put down to a combination of having a mild cold and imminent af. I feel sickly and am snotty in my nose, not my attitude , I am smell sensetive everything smells awful minor, intermittent cramps, and lumpy tender right boob, although left boob appears to be catching up on the sore scale. I am exhausted. And the weepathon continues...I she'd a tiny tear because it's my dsis birthday next week and my dps are away (she is not in the slightest bit arsed, she will be 24...I think...yeah, 24...or thereabouts!) Second weepfest because I saw the local rescue whippet dog walking club. Grin

Hello all! waves shyly We've been ttc for a good half year now, so far unsuccessfully. I've joined this thread for commiserations, tips, and support - the absence of a BFP is really getting to me and every month I'm just getting more and more upset and disappointed. My potential coping strategies are diametrically opposed: try to optimise each and every factor (OPK, no alcohol, very little coffee, timing dtd, taking my vitamins - check, check and check) ... or relax and worry less. (Ha! laughs bitterly)

So, here's for the New Year. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for all of you.

Mileymoocow · 07/01/2016 14:58

Haha true ni! Thanks for the info ladies xx

Ni4444 · 07/01/2016 12:59

Ps Indi don't stress....with modern research, technology (and mumsnet!) we know way more about ttc than our parents and grandparents did...but they still succeeded at it!!

Ni4444 · 07/01/2016 12:57

Congrats Dr! Good work!!

Little I'm on cycle 3...and likely to be cycle 4 soon. Had bbt (temperature) drop this morning do I think AF is coming this weekend. Bloody hell...why wont my eggs talk to his tadpoles? I even provided a meditator to encourage communication (in the form of pre seed lube!). Why wont they play nicely???!!!

Thankfully have friend coming to stay from tonight so weekend of girlie fun (and booze!) lined up to distract me.

We move in a month (and haven't found a place yet) so I'm trying to keep stress and worry down... But realistically that might affect our chances next month too. I need to just accept that. I could be on this thread for a while!!

Indi I think it was you that asked about vitamins. I'm taking the pregnacare conception ones (They're big and expensive but Boots always have them on 3 for 2) and last month I got OH to start taking the male version when I read that multivitamins can help the quality of the sperm they produce!

Ps welcome to the newbies!!

Runner05 · 07/01/2016 12:55

Some vitamins are good others not so much. I think your OH taking them should be ok but someone else might correct me on that.

IndiX · 07/01/2016 12:50

There's so much about TTC I don't know Blush should my DH not take it either?
