Relaxed TTC Feb/March/April 2016

We aren't ttc until mid April as I'm having a party for my birthday so that will be my last 'blow out' before getting pregnant. We had originally said we'd rather not have a December baby because I don't want to be in hospital over Christmas as I'd miss my girls opening presents etc. If this was our first though I wouldn't really mind. The only months we're completely avoiding ttc in is January and February, we already have two October children so might be a little much with another 😂 . X

Yeah that's right, if they turned 4 in August they will start school the September after. If they turn 4 in September they start the September after. From what friends and family have said though, after about a year the age difference at school doesn't seem to matter. I have two girls both born in October so they will be older ones when they start school. X

I wouldn't let potential school age put me off as the gap narrows significantly within a few years and the younger ones will no longer be at a disadvantage come secondary school iirc.

It seems to be so different in England.

For Scotland March - December is the normal age range (after a quick Google) and Jan/Feb babies go when they're either quite young or old. So my dd at thr end of March will be quite old and if I were to get pregnant now my dc#2 would be born in Dec and would be quite young.

Anyways, technicalities aside, dh and I are struggling to decide what to do 😂

It's a tricky one, some children born in July/August do seem immature compared with the Sept babies in their year group but I'd say they are in a minority, mostly it's not noticeable. I teach secondary though, it the age gap might be more obvious in younger children.
I was the oldest in my year at school, it didn't benefit or hinder me as far as I remember!

Theresa does that not mean that some kids are starting school just after they've turned 4?
Or do English kids start at 4? Scotland is 5.

In Scotland the oldest tend to be March/April and the youngest Feb/March. I am July so was always average.

In England if your child is born in September they are the oldest in their class, the August born children are the youngest. It's because the new term starts in September. So a March child is in the middle really x

Pointless I worry about early year birthdays because of the child being either one of the oldest or youngest in the school year, so as a teacher what are your thoughts on that? (and any other mama's (to be))
My dd is late March so will be one of the oldest I think?

I've felt awful this week. Waves of nausea, tired, aching lower back and my appetite has increased that much so, that people at work have noticed. I'm pretty sure it's stress but wouldn't it be lovely if it was pregnancy symptoms.

I'm not keen on Xmas or Jan baby either "bippers". DH has said def not Xmas so we're having a month off. January would be lovely as I get very grumpy in Jan so it would be nice to have a Jan birthday to cheer us up every year BUT I know how much I hate going back to work after Xmas and going back in Jan after a year's mat leave would be horrific. I'm a teacher so it would work out like that too, makes sense to go back for the new term.
I'd be so happy to have a baby though, I don't really want to put it off.

AF has arrived with a vengeance. Not sure what to do as not keep on the idea of a Dec/Jan/Feb baby.

Mmmm thanks wispaxmas. I'm using the dual digital one. It seemed to work spot on last month as AF arrived exactly 2 weeks after ovulation but this month is definitely out of sync so maybe I got a false high reading. Perhaps I should splash out on the full fertility monitor rather than the 2 monthly one ?
Little bit of info on me - A year ago had bfp which was a surprise ( trying but not trying if you know what I mean) but had an mmc in April. Only just decided to try again so apprehensive and also worrying that I'm getting older but trying to stay 'relaxed' hence spotting this thread.

Hi adventure, welcome! I don't use OPKs of any sort, but I have friends who loved the clear blue monitor thing that does both OPKs and HPTs I think. I also know someone who hated the normal clear blue OPKs because they gave her false high readings and completely disagreed with her cheap OPKs and temping. Not sure whether she was a strange case, though.

Does anyone use the Clearblue ovulation kit ?

I've hit a snag in getting a handle on my cycles through temping - my bbt thermometer isn't working properly! My pre-O temps are usually quite low, below 36 degrees, but the last couple mornings it's been 36.5ish, and I tried checking my temp at other times of day and it is throwing up crazy different numbers, apparently at 10am I was 34.5 when my Braun in-ear thermometer was reading 36.8! I've ordered a new thermometer for less than £5 as I'm really reticent to use OPKs and squint at lines trying to work out how dark they are.

Dynia, pregnancy effects everyone so differently, you might find that you've never felt better (happened to my SIL!), or you might feel sick and tired, but the end result is worth it, so it's so different to having a bug.

Well I felt dreadful last night-aching all over, shivering & a headache and this morning I think I've come on!! :(

Me too! I seem to have broken fertility friend - have had signs of ovulation but my temperatures zigzag from day to day so it has given up on me.

I've been feeling a bit under the weather (headache, nausea, smell sensitive) and I got a bit down that if I can't handle whatever bug I have, I'm going to be a miserable pregnant person.

Trying to pinpoint when I ovulate is making me stressed and anxious.

Will having sex every other day throughout the month be enough?

AF is gone now, but my H is going to be away next week over O, so doubtful anything will happen this month and I'm totally still holding out for May. Started temping just for the hell of it. DD wakes us up between 6-7 every morning Anyways, so I might as well check and see which day exactly I'm ovulating for better precision when May rolls around

Checking back in. Had AF and just in the FW now. I prefer to DTD in the morning but I've had so many early starts that it's in the evening and I end up laying flat for a good eight hours afterward...

Ovia says test in about two weeks. Everything crossed (for others testing too!)
