Relaxed TTC Feb/March/April 2016

Hi,

We've just agreed to start TTC #1 in March so just starting to look at preparing for that - prenatal vitamins, losing some weight, etc.

I'm 33 and have only been with my OH for just over a year but we're both sure this is the relationship for us...we'll be getting married but want TTC as a priority and fit any wedding around Mother Nature.

Not planning any temp checking or charting or such like....maybe I'll change my mind if I'm not preggers after six months or so!

Anyone planning TTC about the same time and want to keep in touch on this thread for relaxed catch ups about preparing and then TTC?

Oh my, Alice that's so exciting you get to start TTC! Hmm, I think your plan re gently encouraging him during your fertile period is good! BTW LOVE that terminology :)

Vanilla so glad to meet you, its so frustrating having to wait. Wish I'd taken better care of my diabetes ages ago so I could just get cracking now! My last HBa1C was 8.4 and my doctor said they need it down to less than 6.5, eek! Will keep fx for your next appointment in Jan.

Writer I totally get you when you said you sometimes hate the fact that you can't just simply want a baby and have one. Its a pain in the arse! And so exciting that you got your referral and are getting the coil out!

Stumbly I am testing so much! I am decorating, and cooking, and even considered taking up knitting! No coincidence I am sure.

I too am worried about how often we DTD, we used to do it several times a week, but I have put on weight in the past couple of years and now I feel gross and unsexy. I need to lose weight and get initiating, otherwise this baby aint gonna happen!

And to all the ladies who have MC I am so sorry, it's heartbreaking, FX for smooth journeys from here out!

That curry sounds yummy! That's very exciting stuff, two more and then officially ttc! I came off my totm a couple of days ago. If I've lost the amount of weight I want to by the end of my March totm I'm gonna br so tempted to come off the pill. We've said I will come off after April's pills but we'll see. I'm due on again last week of January, last week of February and then around the 20th of march (easy to know when on the pill) . This means the earliest I could fall pregnant I'd early April which I wouldn't mind at all and ideally we would like a baby born between January and May. Obviously I'll be happy as long as we get pregnant lol but does no harm to plan! X

Well....heathy eating day one is done. Just finished off the Hairy Dieter's chicken jalfrezi with roast chicken leftover from yesterday...can recommend!

Now preparing to make homemade stock from the carcass. Seriously I have come over all 1950's housewife since I've been feeling broody...coincidence? Anyone else sort of 'nesting'?

DP isn't exactly complaining about the sudden spurt in homemaking though he does his fair share too...

Just on my January period....so thinking only two more of them to go before we start TTC which is madness!

Toffee...didn't realise you were in Canada! Minus 15....wow! No wonder you're craving hot drinks! Brew

Just read on the Internet that peas and soya are natural contraceptives!...not sure how much evidence there is for that though. I'm not being very relaxed here...maybe I should jump threads!

TheresaMarie55 · 04/01/2016 20:09

Oh dear, hopefully after a week or so of cutting it down and drinking plenty of water you will be ok x

Pointlessfan · 04/01/2016 19:22

Caffeine reduction has given me headache, not good!

Vanillaradio · 04/01/2016 18:05

Yeah, sex hasn't been happening a whole lot here either since ds's birth, due largely to my general exhaustion! I think dh is quite looking forward to ttc for that reason alone!
My sympathies go to those who have suffered losses, I have friends who have been through similar and have seen how hard it is. It does seem to happen a lot but I guess knowing that doesn't help, because you just want that one baby you lost.
I hope for a good year for all of us.

TheresaMarie55 · 04/01/2016 16:52

Hi all, I've been good with the diet again, really feel I've got the right midset for it now. My sex drive has been up and down since having my second. The pill definitely effects it though, confident it will rise more once I'm off the pill. We average at 1-2 times a week at the moment so not bad but we have the odd time were we go over a week. DH is tired with work sometimes but is more than happy to oblige 😂 . I should start initiating more though to x

toffeeboffin · 04/01/2016 15:30

Morning everyone! (or at least it is here, live in Canada)

First Monday back at work - not that bad really, work is quiet, so am trying to just get on with things.

Feel really good today - must be all the spinach I've been eating, ha!

Only had one coffee this morning which is good for me. Was tempted to buy one on the walk to work, but by the time I would have got to work it would have been cold anyway - minus 15 here today! Yikes.

Will stick to tea and water instead.

Loki, hope you are feeling better. Read your posts on the Miscarriage Support thread - I'm so sorry. It's so hard isn't it?

I'm the same, Stumbly my DH is not gonna know what's hit him soon, I am going to be jumping on the poor guy every night!

Have a good day everyone.

Felipa · 04/01/2016 14:18

Welcome to everyone! There seem to be a lot of us who have previously suffered miscarriages. Really hope this is our year to have a baby!

This is day one of healthy eating for me...haven't managed to cut down caffeine today but small steps! Going to try and exercise at least three times a week, starting tonight.

Writerwannabe83 · 04/01/2016 13:44

Between my Coil and general exhaustion from non-sleeping DS and my job me and DH have only had sex about ten times in 18 months Shock Grin

stumblymonkey · 04/01/2016 13:08

We need to revive our sex life too....my drive is low because I'm on anti-d's for my bipolar disorder and we just seem to have got out of the habit since we moved in together in August.

Before that it would be 2-3 times a week as we'd have sex when we saw each other. Now we can have it anytime we want to we don't at all....Alice...we make you look like sex addicts Shock

One of my five hundred and twenty three many NY resolutions is to initiate it more often. Poor guy won't know what's hit him!

Welcome newbies!! The thread is really picking up pace now!!

My doctor just phoned me and my referral to the epilepsy pregnancy specialist has been done and I've got an appointment in 3 weeks to have my Coil out!! I'm so excited!

Having the Coil has absolutely killed my sex drive so I'm hoping things return to normal once it is out otherwise TTC is going to be very difficult!! Grin

Loki17 · 04/01/2016 09:24

I'm starting with healthy eating today. I'm back to taking prenatal vitamins as I want to give them time to build up in my system before we try. Thanks for all of your kind words. I'm really glad I found this thread.

TheresaMarie55 · 04/01/2016 07:11

Morning stumblymonkey! This will be day three for me of the healthy eating. I always find the first two days easy, the next few hard and then if I stick at it I find It's not to bad to stick at. Even though I'm doing it to lose weight, because the weight loss is so I can ttc I feel much more motivated than I ever have. X

stumblymonkey · 04/01/2016 06:48

Today is my first day of healthy eating...so here I am eating porridge and boiling eggs!

Off to make myself a little hamper of fruit, yoghurt, carrot sticks, boiled eggs and various fruit and green teas!

Must keep my morning builder's brew though to act like a normal human being wake myself up.

I definitely feel differently about eating healthier knowing that it's for TTC rather than just losing weight.....

Welcome all the new people....some threads are awesome at welcoming each person individually but I may as well confess now that I'm unlikely to be organised enough to do that!

Sorry for your losses Loki and Toffee...Thanks

Sadly I think we all have to prepare for potential miscarriages....I have a friend though who has just had a baby after five miscarriages in one year so it's nice to know that story personally to help stay relaxed that an MC and even multiple MC's can still end in a BFP.

Hello! I'm in a similar boat – starting 2016 by no longer avoiding it…but not exactly "trying" to do anything (beyond being a bit less rubbish with what I eat and drink).

I've been drinking tons and eating delicious terrible things ALL THE TIME for forever so it'll be good on the health front if nothing else. I'm finally ready to admit that perhaps I can no longer eat like my skinny 14-year-old self anymore.

toffeeboffin · 04/01/2016 01:01

Just realised 'temping' is taking temperature, not just short term office job contracts! Grin

You learn something new every day.

toffeeboffin · 04/01/2016 00:59

Theresa, that's a great idea, freezing smoothie mix! Never thought of that.

TheresaMarie55 · 03/01/2016 22:36

Thanks for that writer. I think I will get some fix acid next month and start taking them. Won't be ttc until very late March at the earliest (more likely April) but can't do any harm taking them a few months before x

Writerwannabe83 · 03/01/2016 22:19

Loki - I'm so sorry to hear of your miscarriage, how utterly awful and sad for you x x

pointless - I'm hoping I won't have to wait long to see the Epilepsy Nurse, I'm seeing my GP to mirror to get the referral done. I'm also going to ask about having my Mirena taken out. Exciting times.

Regarding folic acid, I was told to take 5mg for 3 months before even starting TTC so I had good stores in my system.

fridaylady7 · 03/01/2016 20:52

Hi all,

I'd like to join! We're starting to try from next month. I'm 30, DH is 35 and we got married last Spring.

Due to a suspected hormonal imbalance revealed by a scan, I started temping last month, just to confirm ovulation. Thankfully, I'm ovulating, so now it's just to start trying.
I'm kind of torn between the whole 'wait to try, enjoy your marriage first' and the 'just get on with it, babies are a joy not a problem'. I'm far more inclined to go with the latter!
Also I think I'm more likely to be relaxed as this thread describes if I'm not panicking and wished we'd started sooner!
So apart from EWCM and temping, that'll be it for us - do let me know if that excludes me from the relaxed group! Lol. Good luck ladies. Looking forward to seeing how this thread develops!

TheresaMarie55 · 03/01/2016 20:38

Toffee, I want to lose weight but also just want to be healthier. I definitely feel better and have more energy when I'm eating well and with a three and one year old the energy is needed! Im making big batches of Smoothies mix and stir fry veg, freezing them in freezer bags and then just pulling them out the night before. X

bobcat85 · 03/01/2016 20:20

TheresaMarie - absolutely hehe. Wish I had more control over the situation but nevermind.

Loki - Sorry for your loss.
