Relaxed TTC Feb/March/April 2016

Hi,

We've just agreed to start TTC #1 in March so just starting to look at preparing for that - prenatal vitamins, losing some weight, etc.

I'm 33 and have only been with my OH for just over a year but we're both sure this is the relationship for us...we'll be getting married but want TTC as a priority and fit any wedding around Mother Nature.

Not planning any temp checking or charting or such like....maybe I'll change my mind if I'm not preggers after six months or so!

Anyone planning TTC about the same time and want to keep in touch on this thread for relaxed catch ups about preparing and then TTC?

Sarah X

Just a thought, Theresamarie, but I found it a bit easier to lose weight when I came off the pill (it was the POP, though, if that makes a difference).

I haven't got around to making a dentist appointment for, um, 12 years. Now you've all given me that to worry about!

TheresaMarie55 · 07/01/2016 09:50

I last went to the dentist around 4 months ago so all fine there. I've never had a smear as I'm still under 25 (I'm 24) so will most likely have one after our next baby.

I Love my slow cooker radders, I use it a minimum twice a week. I like to make big batches of things in it then have some for tea that evening and freeze some for those days you really can't face cooking. I used it loads while pregnant with my second. Made lots of meals to freeze for after I gave birth, was such a help x

raddersmrs · 07/01/2016 09:00

I've just bought a slow cooker to try and help with the healthy eating. I also need to start exercising as I suffer with a bad back so slightly concerned about carrying a baby. My BMI is 22 but I don't eat healthily enough. I'm 29 in April so feel like time is ticking if i want more than one child.

I got 50 opks for £5.00 on the net which I thought was quite good.

I've been reading up on ovulation etc... The woman's body is amazing! It's so fascinating with how everything works.

RoseValley83 · 07/01/2016 08:32

stumbly... Dentist. Aargh. I was thinking that might be sensible while at the same time suppressing the thought violently. And a smear just adds to the fun. I guess that's one way to keep the excitement under control!

stumblymonkey · 07/01/2016 08:09

Duh....wrong thread!!!! Blush

That being said....I just appraised what I'm wearing right now....

The basics are all fine but it's raining and I don't want to have wet toes in my suede boots so have thrown on my brown flat knee highs with a mainly black outfit. With my laptop bag, handbag and tote bag containing lunch and 'proper' boots plus umbrella.

You'd be forgiven for thinking I was aspiring more to Helena Bonham-Carter as a style idol than the Kennedys.

I guess life and shit gets in the way sometimes GrinShockGrin

Morning all, welcome newbies!

My BMI is 29.5 😳 I want to be in a healthy bmi range before coming off the pill or just slightly over (will continue the healthy eating when ttc) . I have two stone to lose so it's doable, if I lose 2lb a week it will take me 14 weeks. That will take me to around April 13th (my birthday 😁) . I may come off the pill a couple of weeks early but just gonna see how I go for now . I'm 13st1.6lb now and have promised myself that no matter what month it is, if I'm not under 12 stone I don't come off the pill. Very good motivation! X

stumblymonkey · 07/01/2016 07:01

Pointlessfan...I also have a smear booked and a dentist appointment too.

Worth getting teeth checked and sorted if needed as apparently gum disease can contribute to MC's! This I learnt from my new book yesterday...

Hi newbies to the thread....welcome!!!

Alice...I'm jealous my BMI is about 526 37. No cake for me Shock

I have diabetes running in my family and I know from this thread about taking extra folic if you are so went for a free check at the pharmacy yesterday...glucose levels and blood pressure both spot on! Already know from blood donations that iron levels are good....so....I'm just fat. Grin

Healthy eating continuing well.

Trying to get an appointment with a psychiatrist to talk about how to deal with my meds (have bipolar)....but the usual person has a six week waiting list...so now trying other people as don't want to wait that long. Lots of concerns about coming off my meds and impact of pregnancy on my bipolar but that's probably a whole new thread! Note to self to start a new thread to get advice from other bipolarites...

Right, time to shower and dress for the commute. I can hear the rain outside Hmm...yuck!

Hi, could I join you all? Planning to start TTC in the Spring. Wish it was sooner but due to work commitments Spring makes more sense, so this seems like a nice thread to jump onto. No DC yet so this will be number 1. Had my implant out tonight in preparation and now I'm feeling a mixture of excitement and nerves (this really will be happening eek! Grin ). This is my first time hormone free for 10 years, I have no idea what to expect! Currently doing dry January as a sort of pre ttc health kick.

raddersmrs · 06/01/2016 21:47

Hey all! Can I join please?
DP and I have agreed we will start TTC this year... I'm hoping by June. I'm kind of waiting for an engagement before we do so its difficult to know when he's planning it! We have agreed to come off the pill this month so just one more packet to do which I started yesterday. Can get the cycles on track then. I want to be really chilled about it but have bought some ovulation tests to check if I'm ovulating after coming off the pill.
It's so exciting! Just feel like I'm playing a waiting game. Hope to be pregnant by the end of the year. 2016 will be our year Smile

AliceScarlett · 06/01/2016 21:37

Argh, today is the day I would normally put my patch on, freaking out! Maybe we should wait til Feb/March. Lots of "what if x,y,z happens" thoughts.

My BMI is 18 ATM, need to eat more cake :(

Vanillaradio · 06/01/2016 20:26

Not doing so well at the low caffeine thing at the moment. If I manage to stick to one coffee all day at work I find myself reaching for a diet coke as soon as I get in! Cutting down on booze is actually easier I think!

RoseValley83 · 06/01/2016 20:09

Ooo may I join you all? I'm 32, been with DH for 6 years now, and we've decided it's probably time to start thinking about getting round to things. TTC #1 will probably start in March - need some time to learn all the mumsnet acronyms first! Wink Off pill for a few months, just jumped on the amazing Ovia app (never before has my phone asked me such intimate questions!), and started on folic acid and vit d. Need to book in some sort of health check.
Eek! Excited. Good to have company.

TheresaMarie55 · 06/01/2016 18:48

I read over my post and hope it didn't come across as encouraging drinking when ttc 😳 lol. What I meant was for me personally, when I'm off the pill and ttc I don't but I don't think it's an issue if people do. It takes some people a long time so the odd drink whilst trying is fine in my eyes x

TheresaMarie55 · 06/01/2016 17:26

Glad you've found something you like felipa. I will be having a drink on the 30th of July for a friend's 30th birthday party and if I haven't come off the pill by my birthday (13th April) I will likely have a drink then. Other than that I won't, more so because I'm dieting and don't want the extra calories from alcohol! I won't touch a drop once I'm off the pill though. It's an each to their own thing though, until you get your bfp I don't really see the harm x

Felipa · 06/01/2016 14:06

theresamarie I bought a big bag of half caff from M and S today and it's actually really nice. I do have a mild headache so will need to have some more this afternoon but at least this is the first step to cutting down.

As for alcohol, I never want to see it again after Christmas! (Famous last words!)

Pointlessfan · 06/01/2016 07:44

Took my first folic acid tablet this morning. I've also booked a smear test, might as well make sure everything is ok before ttc.

Nuttypops · 06/01/2016 07:35

That's good going TheresaM, well done, particularly over Christmas!

Swimming is a good idea, thanks! I can't for a few weeks but once the stitches etc dissolve I should be fine to and it is a lot more doable than the gym. The gym/pool has a crèche that my daughter likes as it is the same staff as her nursery so that lets me go by myself for a bit. Not easy with 2 of them though I don't imagine!

TheresaMarie55 · 06/01/2016 06:15

First weigh in for me this morning (will weigh at 6am every Wednesday) I'm 13st1.6lb. Really happy. I was 13st2lb on December 18th, was terrible for two weeks eating all sorts and then went on the healthy eating in January 2nd. Given me a good boost to keep at it x

TheresaMarie55 · 05/01/2016 23:15

Hi nutty and welcome 😊 .

Hope you're ok and surgery hasn't been to hard on you. Is swimming a possibility? I have a three year old and 14 month old so can't really go to the gym but go swimming with them. X

Nuttypops · 05/01/2016 22:59

Hello! Can I join in please? Relaxed sounds like the way to go to me!
We have a DD who is 13 months, so this is ttc#2 for us. I am 30 in Feb, and DH is 32. Not in a huge rush for #2 but I would love to have another by the time DD is 3, so we thought we may as well just see how we get on.

I desperately need to hide the left over Christmas chocolate before another pregnancy, I have only just managed to rejoin the gym after having DD and moving house a few months ago, but ended up in hospital over Christmas and needed surgery so I can't go to the gym for a while.

Pointlessfan · 05/01/2016 22:13

I agree, I don't think I'll use them unless it's proving difficult.

TheresaMarie55 · 05/01/2016 22:02

I'm not gonna get ovulation strips as I will get super obsessed lol. I was really chilled first time around and only realised I was pregnant at around 7 weeks. With my second I was testing from 10 dpo lol, I think I would have really stressed myself out if I hadn't got my bfp! Really want to be chilled this time around but love all the ttc chatter. I think I would get ovulation sticks if I didn't fall pregnant in the first three months. If people want to use them though I say go right ahead, as long as you don't stress about it (easier said than done) what harm can it do! X

Writerwannabe83 · 05/01/2016 21:59

I got mind from Amazon, 30 hpts and 30 opks for about £5 Grin

I actually got my BFP from peeing on an opk because I had ran out of hpts to pee on Grin
