Relaxed TTC Feb/March/April 2016

Hi,

We've just agreed to start TTC #1 in March so just starting to look at preparing for that - prenatal vitamins, losing some weight, etc.

I'm 33 and have only been with my OH for just over a year but we're both sure this is the relationship for us...we'll be getting married but want TTC as a priority and fit any wedding around Mother Nature.

Not planning any temp checking or charting or such like....maybe I'll change my mind if I'm not preggers after six months or so!

Anyone planning TTC about the same time and want to keep in touch on this thread for relaxed catch ups about preparing and then TTC?

Hey guys !
I am new (this is my first post) Grin
I am hoping I'm reading all the letters right , I assume TTC is trying to conceive? (If it's not I'm going to sound like a right idiot)
But my and my husband are trying on my next cycle which should be the begging of Feb ... We have said we arnt going to go proper into it like work out the exact time to have sex , but if say I was Wink I read somewhere that two days before ovulation would be the best time, is that right ? We are going to have a relaxed 6 months then really try but, I just want one , I'm trying to stay calm like oh it'll be fine , but I'm actually hoping I fall pregnant the first time I try, crazy right !

AliceScarlett · 15/01/2016 18:31

Yeah I'm not going to take a test every month either. Difficult to know when AF is due though because its my first week off contraception.

stumblymonkey · 15/01/2016 17:40

After soooooo many years focusing on NOT getting pregnant it feels bizarre to DTD hoping for pregnancy. Surreal!

So excited for you two! X

stumblymonkey · 15/01/2016 16:41

I'm at a friend's for dinner tonight and then will try and rouse DP for one more DTD before my ovulation time ends. Then I'll be joining you for the 2ww too Alice.

Am also going to try not to symptom spot or take a test unless my AF is late!

DH is putting the effort in Grin my fears were clearly unfounded. 1st day of my 1st 2 ww. Determined not to start symptom spotting.

AliceScarlett · 14/01/2016 19:18

DH and I also disscussed making time in the mornings, evenings are busy and he loves the gym so if often tired. Trying not to find it frustrating.

shopaholic85 · 14/01/2016 18:56

Thanks for the tips ladies. My husband has a very strict morning routine that I'd hate to interrupt but will give it a go tomorrow morning Wink

stumblymonkey · 14/01/2016 18:27

Welcome shopaholic!

No idea how much I've lost I'm not weighing but I can definitely see a little difference in the mirror.

However I've skipped bootcamps since Christmas due to a bad back but now it's better which means I'm going to have to haul my ass out of bed at 5.50am for bootcamp tomorrow

Shopaholic...I vote for DTD in the morning too....that's what we tend to do!

Hi shopaholic and welcome. Sorry to hear of your loss. Hmmm, maybe if you have more mornings together than evenings make time then? Will put you both in a great mood for the day as an added bonus 😜 x

shopaholic85 · 14/01/2016 15:56

Hi all. Is it too late for me to join? I will be TTC again in Feb post miscarriage. We conceived after 4 months last time, but sadly lost the baby at 6 weeks. I'm 31 and have been with my DH for 6 years.

I don't want to get too obsessed so going to take a relaxed approach as well. I don't really watch what I eat or exercise, so would like to get fitter for this round.

The main issue is that both my DH and I have stressful jobs that involve working some evenings and weekends. Any tips on making time to BD?

TheresaMarie55 · 13/01/2016 14:12

Hi everyone. Hope the appointment goes well vanilla.

Well done Jenny, my weight day is today to, 3lb loss this week, very happy with that x

AliceScarlett · 13/01/2016 09:52

Good luck with your appointment Vanilla, hope they give you the go ahead.

Well done jenny, 3.5lbs is a great start Smile

jennymac31 · 13/01/2016 08:27

Well I had my first weigh-in yesterday after joining slimming world and lost 3 and 1/2 pounds so hopefully I can keep it going. Still planning on coming off the pill at end of February but hubby wants to wait until after our holiday in April. I'm also supposed to be going to a hen-do in June but the dates keep changing so not sure if we should hold off ttc until then.

Vanillaradio · 13/01/2016 07:57

Wow this is exciting, we could be getting news of the first thread babies on the way anytime now! Good luck!

Avril, if I were you then I would wait till next cycle to be sure of dates but if fw stays 1-2 weeks before holiday I would wait till the following month then go for it. Even though almost certainly everything would be fine it would wreck the holiday for me worrying not knowing if I was pregnant and thinking about possible risks the whole time. You might get bfp first time, I did with ds!

As for me I have my first appointment with the pre conception diabetic clinic tomorrow, so hoping that goes well and can sort out when ttc will start. Hoping to get the all clear to start trying in March or April but if hba1c is not good enough I know I will end up in a waiting game like last time just hoping each appointment is the one where they give me the go ahead! That's why I have gone for an appointment slightly in advance of when I want to start trying this time but may not work!

Avriljen · 13/01/2016 07:49

theresa if my cycle hadn't changed then i could have conceived on holiday which I was happy with, but now it would be 1-2 weeks before depending on the length of this cycle. So I don't know if I should wait till after or if it wouldn't really make a difference being 1-2 weeks pregnant. I'm assuming I wouldn't really know if i was pregnant. I think I'll try before anyway as not likely to happen first time.

There was someone going on a snowboarding holiday - my phone won't let me scroll back to first page to find your name now I've typed all of this, are you ttc before your holiday? I think your original post said you might?

stumbly that's great news about your meds, fingers crossed for the swimmers!

Pointlessfan · 13/01/2016 07:30

Great news, stumbly!

TheresaMarie55 · 12/01/2016 23:26

Do you mean you could conceive whilst on holiday avril? If so then I would go for it if it was me. X

AliceScarlett · 12/01/2016 22:20

stumbly I'm so pleased for you! Yay about your meds and yay about ttc now. :)

I've been cheering on the jizz too LOL. 1st time we have had sex off contraception and I'm in the fertile period, feels weird. Omg as if we could have the same due date, he he.

Avril No idea about the skiing risks I'm afraid, but I can relate to the panicking a bit when it becomes real. I settled after the first few days. If it was me I would wait, a few more months isn't long in the grand scheme of things. But if you don't want too and do fall pregnant could you cancel the hol? Might be worth googling skiing and early pregnancy.

-----

I know logically getting pregnant on the first cycle is probably not going to happen, but I'm so excited, I'm impatient, when I decide I want something I want it now. Sigh.

Avriljen · 12/01/2016 21:58

Aargh!! Not feeling so relaxed about ttc now! I'm confused about what to do, we have ski holiday booked first week March, I thought that would be my FW but AF has come a bit early this month, and if I stay at same cycle length for next month then my FW will be 1-2 weeks before my holiday. I don't know if we should ttc then or if should wait until the following month. Any advice? I don't think I would know if I was pregnant but what if I fell and caused problems, would it be too early for any real harm to be done? I know it's unlikely to get bfp first time round but I'm getting acupuncture for other health problems and she is helping with my cycle so with her help it might end up working first time! Also, its now getting a bit too real, is will be my first time ttc so panicking a little!!

TheresaMarie55 · 12/01/2016 21:42

So exciting stumbly 😁 x

stumblymonkey · 12/01/2016 21:26

Hi Sunny...welcome to the thread Smile

I had some good news today...saw a perinatal psychiatrist today and he has said that I don't need to change my medication at all....very pleased!

Soooo....we have agreed to stop using contraception as of today GrinGrinGrin

We're still not 'trying' exactly....I'm not going to take any notice of ovulation and we'll just DTD whenever and start actually TTC in March if nothing has happened by then. Exciting times!

We have DTD today (TMI!) so I have been mentally cheering on those little swimmers as I happen to know its the right kind of time in my cycle LOL!

TheresaMarie55 · 12/01/2016 20:38

Sorry, just read back and you've said you're ttc around March. Could possibly be pregnancy buddies 😁

TheresaMarie55 · 12/01/2016 20:37

The tiredness is a killer at first I'll admit, you just kind of get used to it though. Slings and carriers are life savers, I've got a carrier already but getting a sling as well for next baby. My husband does no cooking or cleaning lol but is a big help distracting the kids while I do stuff, they adore him.

I'm not currently ttc as I want to lose a bit of weight first. Also both my children are October babies so really would rather not another October baby 😂 .Will be coming off the pill either at the very end of March or mid April. It's gonna be more likely March though as I'm super broody. Will take my March pills I think and then just stop. Means even if we fell pregnant straight away I'd be due early January which is good with me. Think if I could choose I'd have a February or April baby 😊 as long as it happens though I'll take any haha.

Are you ttc now? X

SunnyDays1987 · 12/01/2016 20:10

Thanks Theresa I'm exactly the same. People told me not to bother with the housework but it just stressed me out so much more and then takes even more time when you do eventually get a minute to do it. My and my husband have always tag teamed as well, makes life so much easier! I'm thinking of getting a sling as well so I carry baby if they're needing picking up whilst my toddler is playing or needing me to make food etc. Nice to hear you adapted well anyways. How did you cope with the tiredness with a toddler?! With my DS if we'd had a bad night at least I knew I had the option to lie around and rest whilst he was asleep but you don't really get that break with two I'm guessing?

Are you TTC or waiting a few months?
