Relaxed TTC Feb/March/April 2016

Hi,

We've just agreed to start TTC #1 in March so just starting to look at preparing for that - prenatal vitamins, losing some weight, etc.

I'm 33 and have only been with my OH for just over a year but we're both sure this is the relationship for us...we'll be getting married but want TTC as a priority and fit any wedding around Mother Nature.

Not planning any temp checking or charting or such like....maybe I'll change my mind if I'm not preggers after six months or so!

Anyone planning TTC about the same time and want to keep in touch on this thread for relaxed catch ups about preparing and then TTC?

That is true wispa, and we don't know how long it will take. I'm booked in for blood tests and an ECG on Wednesday which I'm actually just trying not to think about because I hate needles. The ECG will be OK but I think the results might be skewed by my needle phobia.

wispaxmas · 02/04/2016 14:27

Phew! Sorry for the barrage of posts, I just have to respond every time I see something to respond to, I can never remember it all for one long post.

I've not checked in for a couple days, but it's CD2 for me and we're not TTC this cycle either. I had bloods drawn on Wednesday to test my thyroid function, and I find it really strange to be hoping that there's something wrong. But if there IS something wrong with my thyroid it means that so many of my minor ailments, fatigue, low sex drive, etc, all could be linked to that one thing instead of me just being rubbish for no reason. Should be able to call for the results at the GP Monday and I'm nervous because I'm so sure they're just going to be all normal. How weird it is feeling like you want something to be wrong with you!!

Sorry, completely unrelated. On the TTC front I have kept up with charting BBT and I'm going to try OPKs this cycle just for curiosity's sake, even though I never got a positive last time around. I'm pretty sure my cycles are USUALLY 29 days, O of CD16, and a 13 day LP. I'm feeling pretty positive getting this all figured out before we really TTC because I'm hoping it will mean that I don't feel paranoid about not doing everything I can once we TTC and can just get on with DTD as and when we can.

FX for more BFPs for you lot this cycle, and I'm actually looking forward to getting TTC underway NEXT MONTH, eek!

wispaxmas · 02/04/2016 14:19

Hi starmist! I absolutely HATE questions like that, what if you had been struggling for years with infertility? It's just so insensitive! Sorry you've been getting them, and I hope TTC is quick for you.

wispaxmas · 02/04/2016 14:17

Welcome, bertiebotts as well!

I found the same about my libido last time around TTC! Currently it's close to 0, but I have a feeling that's health related, so our decision to put off really TTC until May was probably also driven by me not really wanting to go to the effort, hah.

If I was you I think I would ask the doc about the trial meds and let them know you're TTC. It may be that they're perfectly safe to take, or it may be that they switch to something else. I wouldn't just put your life on hold whilst TTC, though. If meds could potentially help you it's worth seeing through at least for know, just so long as they know you might become pregnant.

wispaxmas · 02/04/2016 14:12

Welcome, auntyadhd! I love a good secret Pinterest board. I had one for my DD's nursery when I was pregnant last time around. As for DTD, if you know how your cycle is you could get away with only the once, but I think it's pretty common to do every other day during the fertile week. Or there's the SMEP plan, which involved using OPKs (which I hate) and DTD every other day from day 8 until a positive OPK, then 3 days in a row. We did every other day (roughly) during the fertile week last time around and it was 4 cycles before we had a BFP, which isn't really that long but felt an eternity!

BertieBotts · 02/04/2016 13:23

Star I know the feeling. I have been married 2 years as well and people have been asking since before we were married as I have DC1 from previous relationship.

So far I've just been saying "Not just yet, perhaps later" but now we've actually started TTC I don't know what I'll say if people ask!

I don't think it matters BTW if you feel stressed or relaxed, if it's going to happen it will happen, you'll drive yourself crazy thinking that you can influence it like that. I've been on a huge rollercoaster since we decided. First off I was quite down and felt inadequate and couldn't really work out what it was all relating to as I wanted to be excited and was just really upset. Then I worked through that, the excitement turned up and was so strong that I basically couldn't DO anything for about four days, I was just on a total high, couldn't eat or sleep. Then I got scared, of doing it again, of doing it in a foreign country, now I'm back to watching OBEM and crying and going "I can't wait to do it all again!" and secretly researching prams Grin

I suppose what I'm saying is just go with the feelings, they do calm down. I think BTW that at 32 you have loads of time yet, so don't worry about that. How many DC do you think you want at the moment? I think I want two more but DH is very sensibly saying let's have one and see how we feel. I feel like I missed out on the experience of raising siblings and although DS is excited about the idea of a baby it won't be quite the same as he will be at least 8 by the time we have another one.

Starmist · 02/04/2016 13:15

Hello everyone. I've been lurking on this thread for some time, hope you don't mind me joining.
I'm 32 & been married for 2 years. Since October it's been quite hard as I was ready to start TTC but DH wasn't there yet & he didn't understand that the biological clock is ticking & it could take some time to fall pregnant. I can finally say that in March we really started trying as we DTD every 2-3 days. I over think everything & I can feel quite stressed so it feels like almost a daily battle to keep calm & try to forget about babies. All you hear is how you have to relax but that almost makes it worse as then I start worrying that I'm stressed.
I'm finding it hard as it seems a lot of ppl have been asking "are you broody?" "are you trying for a baby?" & I get so frustrated & I don't know how to respond. I'm not sure why ppl think it's their business to ask! Hmm
Wishing us all lots of luck. Let's hope we see more BFPs on this thread soon.

Yawninghippo · 02/04/2016 11:18

Hi Aunty ADHD,

In terms of DTD, myself and his majesty are on average every couple of days anyway, so that won't change much. I have a higher libido than him though. I'm not tracking anything ovulation wise at the moment though I may start if nothing happens in 2-3 months. I have a sneaking suspicion that I ovulate later in my cycle so would be useful to pinpoint anyways.

xx

EvansAndThePrince · 31/03/2016 22:54

Precious previous*

Also, I'm not as grumpy as I sound, just exhausted as we've not stopped this month, it's been go go go!

EvansAndThePrince · 31/03/2016 22:52

Hello all, have nc so thought I'd better check back in.
Ttc #2 sort of. Dd turned 1 last week during supposedly fertile phase, so haven't dtd at all, been to busy, but I actually think I have been ov the last couple of days. Haven't had an ov bleed or pain like I did the precious 2 months though so not sure what's going on. Keep swinging between wanting to try quite hard and not being too bothered about "trying", rather just seeing what happens. So yeah, we've not dtd this cycle at all!
Sorry for the ramble! Hope all are well and congratulations devgal!

BertieBotts · 31/03/2016 21:21

Hello, can I join the lovely relaxed thread? I have joined the April one as I was all excited but I think this is more my style - I'm not really clued up on when I'm ovulating or anything and I'm not (at least not yet) feeling particularly paranoid about testing dates or anything. DH thought I'd be crazy and wanting to test all the time and dramatically announced that he would only allow me to do one a month Confused I was just planning to test if my period was late and if I was planning to drink alcohol, which I don't very often!

I like your name AuntyADHD, I was just diagnosed with ADHD a few weeks ago. I'm a bit on the fence about whether to continue with trialling medication now we have decided to TTC. I haven't tried anything yet but they are wanting to do tests on me.

I have actually found since starting TTC that my libido has gone through the roof Blush I expect that will wear off but the slightest thing seems to set me off at the minute and I feel really close to DH which is lovely.

FriendlyGhost · 31/03/2016 20:45

Welcome AuntyADHD. I'm the same age as you so definitely get that clock ticking feeling! Still plenty of time though.
We're only currently dtd a couple of times a month. We have a non sleeping toddler though so quite frankly I'd rather sleep when I have the chance. I'm hoping it only takes once at the right time as I haven't got the energy for much more Grin

TheresaMarie55 · 31/03/2016 20:31

Hey AuntyADHD , welcome to the group! I'd say on average me and dh dtd 1-2 times a week. Dh (and myself sometimes) would like it to be more but sometimes We're just to sleepy. When I come off the pill in a few weeks, we will try to aim for every other day in my fertile week and around 2-3 times a week the rest of the time just in case my cycles aren't quite right x

AuntyADHD · 31/03/2016 19:21

Hey wannabemamas, me too! Wink
I am 33 and have always been fairly sure I wanted a family someday but never felt ready to try before now. Been with OH for seven years, and he's 31.
We are both the black sheep of our families (very much loved and sources of pride mind!) in the sense that we are pretty bohemian and make our livings doing creative project work and renting rooms in our home.
We are both a bit eternal kids ourselves so I feel a bit embarrassed that we are trying for this, as if it's irresponsible, but I know we will be great, and in all honesty my clock is starting to tick very loud and I'm anxious not to miss my chance!
Love Alice and stumblys secret Pinterest boards for weddings and babies! I've never discussed w anyone but had mine a couple of years!! Haha!

Now I've just got to get my pretty low libido revved up. What is everyone else aiming for in terms of when / how many times you're "doing the deed" every month?

Yawninghippo · 31/03/2016 10:50

Hi everyone, just checking in! Hope you're all well and this cycle brings some more BFP's. I'm bang in the middle of mine atm, so got a couple of weeks to wait and see if anythings occurring!

xx

Devgal · 30/03/2016 23:28

Thanks everyone!

Highhopes I have been so bloated I feel like everyone must be guessing!! Haha and swollen/sore boobs! Well it was a shame actually as he was going away for the weekend shortly after so it was all a bit rushed, but I couldn't have waited to do a test!

Friendly ghost that's really good to know it is still separate. I'm so excited to know we will have a baby for Xmas!!

FriendlyGhost · 30/03/2016 20:42

Congratulations Devgal. The 3rd December is a lovely due date-my dd was due on that day two years ago. She was late but still far enough away from Christmas for them to be separate events. It made the run up to Christmas such fun that year!
I'm waiting for AF in just over a week and then I can start trying properly. DD has upped her feeding to about 4 times a day and twice a night though so not feeling confident for regular cycles or ovulation.

TheresaMarie55 · 30/03/2016 20:32

Congratulations devgal! Will have my fingers crossed for you highhopes Smile .

Two weeks two days worth of pills left now, can't describe how excited I am. Really missing being pregnant now and can't wait to do it again. We decided to tell family and close friends we are planning another, have told everyone we aren't ttc until summer though to take some pressure off. Must admit, I'm shocked how many people are already asking if we want another for a boy Angry . Ermm, no, we want another healthy happy child, couldn't care less what gender they are. Also...my husband already has a son and its actually his family that keep asking if we're wanting a boy!!! Just hope that the silly questions don't carry on when I'm pregnant. We found out what we where having with the girls but I promised hubby that if we ever had more we'd have a surprise as he didn't really want to know last time. X

wispaxmas · 30/03/2016 15:19

Highhopes, FX!

wispaxmas · 30/03/2016 15:18

Congratulations, devgal!!!

HighHopes16 · 30/03/2016 14:34

I'm 4dpo so my Ovia app suggests taking a pregnancy test in 9 days but I'm away next weekend so I might do it one day early!!

Have you noticed many early pregnancy symptoms? How did you tell your OH?

Devgal · 30/03/2016 14:23

Thanks HighHopes! That is very exciting. EDD is 3/12, so even if I am late we will have a baby for Christmas! Good excuse to avoid the family politics too ;)

How many days past ov are you?

HighHopes16 · 30/03/2016 10:57

Congratulations Devgal This is turning out to be a very successful thread ! :D
We were going to hold off ttc this month as we didn't fancy a Christmas baby but we couldn't help ourselves so now starting the tww eek ! x

Devgal · 29/03/2016 21:20

Hi all, I just thought I would check back in an tell you that out relaxed first cycle turned out to be a very successful one and I got my BFP on Friday! I hope you don't mind me sticking around in this thread as I would love to see how you are all getting on?

wispaxmas · 29/03/2016 18:36

Exciting to be starting this cycle, Sienna! Don't worry about edd too much, you could be up to 3 weeks earlier or 2 weeks later; chances of a due date baby are so low.

Adventure, I've heard good things about the monitor, I hope it helps you!

Still waiting here, but I love seeing how others are getting on Smile
