Relaxed TTC Feb/March/April 2016

Hi,

We've just agreed to start TTC #1 in March so just starting to look at preparing for that - prenatal vitamins, losing some weight, etc.

I'm 33 and have only been with my OH for just over a year but we're both sure this is the relationship for us...we'll be getting married but want TTC as a priority and fit any wedding around Mother Nature.

Not planning any temp checking or charting or such like....maybe I'll change my mind if I'm not preggers after six months or so!

Anyone planning TTC about the same time and want to keep in touch on this thread for relaxed catch ups about preparing and then TTC?

Congratulations Felipa!! Really hope its a sticky one Flowers

mangocoveredlamb · 20/02/2016 14:04

How exciting Felipa! Fingers crossed that this one sticks!

SoozC · 20/02/2016 13:42

Congrats Felipa! Fx for you over the next couple of months.

Felipa · 20/02/2016 13:39

Hi everyone
Well I can't quite believe it but have gone from a stark bfn yesterday to a fairly hefty pink line today Shock I think I am either 10 or 11dpo.

I am v shocked as it has always taken me around three months to get bfp.

Am very happy but slightly scared as have had two m/c in the past at week 7. Fingers crossed this time that it's not too good to be true.

Good luck to you all and remember that a negative one day can be a positive the next!

wispaxmas · 20/02/2016 12:35

Much smaller than the Royal jelly capsules I'm taking. It's silly, though, I'm not sure why I'm taking them his early as I really don't expect we will fall first cycle trying in May, I just want to be sure everything is as good as it can be just in case!

AliceScarlett · 20/02/2016 10:51

They are so tiny arnt they! I was expecting something a bit more substantial, no idea why.

wispaxmas · 20/02/2016 10:44

I'm currently taking 5mg of folic daily. Just ask your GP to prescribe it and say you're TTC. Shouldn't be difficult. Ideally you want to be starting it 3 months before you get pregnant anyways as eggs are developing that whole time.

wispaxmas · 20/02/2016 10:42

Right, got you! Not like you're out by much, though!

Pointlessfan · 20/02/2016 10:02

Wisa instead of counting on a calendar I just thought day 14 would be 2 weeks after period started so if period started on a Monday I'd ovulate 2 Mondays later. Turns out it's actually the day before i.e. the Sunday (tomorrow in fact!).
Have had lots of sex this week anyway! (sorry TMI!)

stumblymonkey · 20/02/2016 08:06

Yes....they still work though!

I've bought the cheap preg tests from amazon and it's just a strip to dip into the urine. Don't know what i was expecting really!

stumblymonkey · 19/02/2016 21:10

I've had BFNs too. I totally failed to wait until AF which is due on Sunday.

Not expecting the BFN to change so that will be me onto cycle three already!

I pissed on my first stick! I think I'm about 10dpo and it was like tenth wee of the day... Don't know what I was doing there, weird impulsive moment. Needless to say bfn.

Felipa · 19/02/2016 19:41

cateroo I agree about the indent lines on First Response! They didn't use to be like that.

redstrawberries101 · 19/02/2016 19:03

Not quite at your stage yet but I'm planning on testing only when AF is overdue.. We shall see how that goes...

thisisbloodyridiculous · 19/02/2016 16:48

I'm giving up with testing too it's making me too grumpy!

SoozC · 19/02/2016 16:39

FF suggests I don't test for a week, even though AF due in the next few days. So if it doesn't turn up I'll test next Friday, not before. I get the feeling it'll be here tomorrow though. Fx for everyone!

Cateroo · 19/02/2016 16:09

Sooz I am getting indisputable negatives. Nothing to even suggest the faintest line - except a FRER with an indent that can be seen from space - not very impressed with them.....

I'm now not testing until Tuesday, my period due date.

Felipa · 19/02/2016 15:49

9dpo and bfn, of course. Have been squinting at the sticks like a mad woman!!

SoozC · 19/02/2016 14:10

thisisbloodyridiculous Another BFN for me today. And I mean, seriously negative, it was so bloody bright it was like the stick was laughing at me :(

Cateroo I know how you're feeling, that's me, too.

I am fully expecting AF tomorrow, due to cramps today. We shall see.

Cateroo · 19/02/2016 13:40

I'm now 10 dpo - BFN tastic and fed up, I know it's still early (ish) but expect to be out this month.

jennymac31 · 19/02/2016 13:20

My apologies Nimisha - I meant 5mg. My pregnancy with dd was deemed high risk due to being overweight/high bmi so its likely that any other pregnancy would also be deemed high risk!

Trying to stay positive and don't really want to put things on hold, as it took 6 months to conceive with dd & i'm over 35 so it might take even longer.

Flashinthepan · 19/02/2016 10:49

Hello all, can I join? I've been lurking for a while but this thread seems to fit my situation pretty well. 27 and Planning on TTC in May this year (although DH is a bit of a goalpost mover). He's sort of been occasionally lapse in the last month or so contraception wise though, so fingers crossed!

Nimisha · 19/02/2016 09:27

jenny you could just take 2 *400 mcg folic acid or one standard conception vitamin and a cheapo folic acid. In high risk pregnancy the dose is 5 mg (eg 5000mcg) so you don't need to worry about overdosing I think.

Who has advised you to take 500mcg? I thought in this country they generally advised either 400 mcg or 5mg If high risk (in which case your gp would prescribe it). I found this link.

Vanillaradio · 19/02/2016 06:53

Jenny for 500mg folic acid you can ask the doctor to prescribe some. The only place I have found it to buy is Amazon.
