Relaxed TTC Feb/March/April 2016

Hi,

We've just agreed to start TTC #1 in March so just starting to look at preparing for that - prenatal vitamins, losing some weight, etc.

I'm 33 and have only been with my OH for just over a year but we're both sure this is the relationship for us...we'll be getting married but want TTC as a priority and fit any wedding around Mother Nature.

Not planning any temp checking or charting or such like....maybe I'll change my mind if I'm not preggers after six months or so!

Anyone planning TTC about the same time and want to keep in touch on this thread for relaxed catch ups about preparing and then TTC?

No news from me, 8 dpo, but was so ill in the fertile window we never dtd Confused

FX for everyone else.

Dynia, I'm sorry you're worried your colleagues will think you're less serious is you have a baby. Why does no one ever question a man's commitment to work when they have children? I'm being silly, I know why they don't, I just wish things would change.

wispaxmas · 24/02/2016 18:57

Oooh, congratulations, Vertical ThanksThanksThanks

SoozC · 24/02/2016 18:00

Congrats Vertical!

Welcome newbies!

Still on af. DP was very sweet, kept checking I was okay and not too disappointed. Just waiting for ov time, ordered a load of opks to get the best chance!

mangocoveredlamb · 24/02/2016 16:34

I think it's normal to feel a sense of disbelief!
Hopefully it'll settle in over the next few days and you'll feel really excited!!

VerticalCheese · 24/02/2016 15:32

Why am I suddenly terrified I've made a mistake reading it.. I feel like it can't be real. Just started to get cramps too, feel like AF but can't be

AliceScarlett · 24/02/2016 15:05

Tis a line!

Devgal · 24/02/2016 14:49

I see a line!! Smile

mangocoveredlamb · 24/02/2016 14:22

I see a line!!!

VerticalCheese · 24/02/2016 14:16

Ok, have I lost it or is that a line? It's darker in real life but only by a little?

Oo Mango, sounds exciting! Fingers crossed Smile

mangocoveredlamb · 24/02/2016 10:18

Sounds really positive Devgal.

I have managed to resist testing again today with the crappy tests. I have some FRER tests arriving today so I will test tomorrow with FMU and see what it says. Not wildly hopeful if I'm honest, but still no AF on CD35!

Devgal · 23/02/2016 21:50

Thanks Alice! Should arrive tomorrow or Thursday then I'm thinking! It's a bit of a novelty for me to vaguely know when AF might arrive, let alone have a little clue before hand!

AliceScarlett · 23/02/2016 18:34

Tee hee, I was worried you were having a very short cycle!

Devgal CD1 is when you actually start, red blood needing more than a pantiliner, rather than just spotting.

I'm having cramps on and off, AF not due til Saturday... But its 2nd cycle off the patch, so, not exactly regular is it Angry. Role on cycle 3 Hmm

Devgal · 23/02/2016 18:00

So today I have had some spotting so I'm expecting my AF in the next day or 2. This is exciting as it means I'm in for this cycle! Also I'm really pleased as have been taking metformin for 5 months now for PCOS and my cycle length has reduced from 75 days to 32! My question though is if anyone else experiences spotting prior to AF do you count that as CD1 or when you actually start? I'm going to chart his cycle as it is he only way to see if I am ov, so just want to know when I should start.

mangocoveredlamb · 23/02/2016 15:19

I did mean 11dpo Blush
Actually CD 33 (of 34-36)

AliceScarlett · 23/02/2016 14:59

CD11?? I'm on CD25 and waiting for AF to turn up. Do you mean 11dpo?

mangocoveredlamb · 23/02/2016 14:49

Flowers Dynia it's tricky sometimes isn't it.

BFN for me this morning, although I'm sure I saw a line. I had miscalculated and think I might actually be on CD11 not 13, so waiting to retest on Thursday/Friday as long as AF doesn't show up before then!

NurseAsh88 · 23/02/2016 14:47

Hello everyone :)
I'm Ash, 27, and in a same-sex marriage. Been with my wife for nearly 7 years and we're going to Denmark for our first round of IUI in April/May.

Been taking folic acid/calcium with vit D and magnesium for around 3 months. Always get my 5 a day, rarely drink, never smoked, ideal weight etc so fingers crossed it wont be long for me!

dynia · 23/02/2016 14:47

Sorry for the above, a bit of a ramble as I haven't told anyone we are trying and don't have anyone in real life to talk it through with.

dynia · 23/02/2016 14:46

Had a bit of a TTC related freak-out last night as the fertile window looms closer which was a bit funny and unexpected as we've both been pretty gung-ho about this baby thing.

I'm in a bit of a career limbo at the moment, finishing up my PhD (mid-autumn hopefully) with a PT contract until September. We've got 6 months savings in the bank and are living off of husband's salary and banking 90% of mine. Timing wise, if we got babied-up quickly, I could teach in the autumn, take the spring off and pick up work over the summer and hopefully get a postdoc starting next September but it is reliant on quite a few moving parts.

Weirdly worried of my colleagues' impression of me, which I know shouldn't matter but I don't want them to dismiss me as non-serious but also realise that there is no "perfect" time to have a baby and now is as good as any.

HighHopes16 · 23/02/2016 14:37

Hi Ladies, Can I join you all?

I'm 25 & my husband is 30. I came off the pill in December when we decided we would like to start TTC but my cycles have been all over the place since then. I don't want to get obsessed with temping and tracking on all the apps so we've decided just to try and DTD every other day and see what happens.
I will probably completely change this approach if we don't conceive in the next 6 months or so...

Didn't know I needed to take Folic Acid 3 months PRIOR to conception so will buy some asap. Is folic acid all we need or is it best to get those pre-conception tablets?

Flashinthepan · 23/02/2016 09:30

Hi there. DH and I hoping to start trying TTC in the next 2-3 months and planning on starting folic acid when I get back from a work trip. Also planning on being relaxed about the whole thing initially but, I've been reading various threads, and my cycle is only 25 days, which I'm worried won't be long enough to be successful. I came off the pill 4 months ago, so perhaps it will lengthen out, but I've been regular since I stopped taking it. I'm only 27. Any got any insights, I find the whole ovulation/luteal phase thing a bit confusing?

TheresaMarie55 · 23/02/2016 09:05

I will start taking folic acid when I start my last pill packet lemon. I didn't take it at all with my others but will this time. I didn't last time as my diet was very high in it anyway but I don't get as much now as I eat less in general lol x

Lemon27 · 22/02/2016 22:52

Congrats Felipa and fingers crossed everything goes great ☺️☺️☺️ Hi to all the new ladies too. Is it true I should be taking folic acid up to 3 months before trying? Better start now so!!

Pointlessfan · 22/02/2016 19:39

Welcome mighty.
I'm feeling much more positive due to presence of EWCM, hooray!
