MIL doesn't speak English. It's also so common and traditional that the child would have her/DH's father's name, I don't think that for her or DH there would ever have been another option to consider. DH has a cousin with the exact same 1st and surnames - as fathers side and named after grandfather. DH's father has passed, so I can't deny him naming his son after him even if the name would sound ridiculous in England. (It has an English sounding acceptable nick name so that's okay: it's just not something I would have chosen)

shelbTa · 11/12/2015 15:49

Yes runner it's from the first opk but the I think you ovulate 12-36 hours after that, with the average being 36 I think I've read. I had real pinching around 36 hours after first opk as I walked upstairs Tuesday night, so I'm taking it from that. We DTD 24hours before the pinching, really hope it's enough!

That could really change things for you runner with what you felt last night!!!!!

Hmm Kat forgive me but your OH sounds a little unreasonable. If my OH said that to me (he never would) I would have serious misgivings about him and would certainly be considering telling him in no uncertain terms that if he wants to name the baby with no regards to my preferences then then he can carry it for 9 months himself!
It takes two to make a baby and it's incredibly selfish for him to take the privilege of naming your baby(s) from you.

Do you have a good relationship with your mil? Could you talk to her about it? Not to say you don't like the names just to say you really want both you and your OH to name the children together and you feel like your wishes are being ignored. Hopefully she would understand and tell her son he's being an ass Hmm

KatOnATinRo0f · 11/12/2015 15:39

Keeping fx runner!
Ovia tells me I am CD 20 and can poas in 9 days. Apart from dreaming of symptoms I have none ... Oh well at least that means Winefor [santa]!!

StarkyTheDirewolf · 11/12/2015 15:38

I'm not telling Dh when I'm fertile or when I'm ovulating, it will only freak him out Xmas Grin He's agreed to ttc, ill be dazzle him with my wily womanly ways and keep shtum on laying eggs!

Ooh fx for you guys! How nice would it be to have so many little Christmas miracles! And this time next year to be having tiny newborns in little Christmas outfits! Awwww!

Good luck for Wednesday Chap

Well I've just done some research online about implantation and ovulation.
It's pretty much impossible to implant before 6 dpo because of the time the egg takes to become a blastocyst. So that scuppers that idea. However I then did research on multiple days of positive opk's and found a interview with a Dr answering a question about it. Apparently it's quite normal to have multiple days of positive opk's but you are expected to ovulate 12 to 24 hours after the FIRST one. Interesting as I'd been counting from the last one.

What this means for me is that the first opk I ever did it was showing up positive I don't know if previous day's would have been positive or not but the only EWCM I had this month was on Friday 4th so I'm now thinking that I may have actually ovulated any time between Friday 4th and Sunday 6th when I did my first opk. That could make me anywhere between 6 and 8 dpo which would be perfect timing for implantation.

Blinking ttc. Every time you think you know what your body is doing you learn something new and realise that you know nothing John snow... Sorry, been watching too much game of thrones Confused

KatOnATinRo0f · 11/12/2015 15:26

In the ideal world 2 children... I can name the second if we have 2 of the same gender. I've tried discussing it a few times and the answer is the same. I don't know how it will pan out in reality (yes I do. My kids will have crappy names) but am currently trying to get myself a little foetus and half don't care what it's called as long as I can make one!! (On the 2ww.... I woke up in the middle of the night with symptoms of pregnancy. And then couldn't sleep because I was excited. Then I realised I was probably actually dreaming. Then couldn't sleep because I felt stupid.)

cnchapmanxx · 11/12/2015 15:01

Hi runner oh really haha fab news! I'm due to poas on Wednesday fx for us all and a big party for xmas! Has anyone got any symptoms leading up to pg day??? I've got none so far!! Xx

shelbTa · 11/12/2015 14:58

Well it does sound promising runner but yeah agree at 3-4dpo we could be getting our hopes up....unless you ovulated earlier perhaps? I guess Sunday / Monday is going to be a key time for us isn't it at 6dpo?

Like you I'm trying not to go too mental but it's so hard!!!

Runner05 · 11/12/2015 14:39

Yep Shelb when I entered today's symptoms.

I'm not getting my hopes up to much as I have no cm or other symptoms and I didn't dtd at the best times or as often as I would have liked this month. Also it would be quite early to get implantation pains as the egg on average doesn't implant for 6 days. Really I'll be shocked if I am. that's not going to stop me looking out for an implantation bleed Grin

shelbTa · 11/12/2015 14:24

Interesting runner that sounds really promising, I really hope it is, I know how much you want it Smile. Where does ovia say that - on the home page?

Runner05 · 11/12/2015 14:09

Welcome Chap most of us here are somewhere between starting in January and cycle two. We're expecting a piss stick party next weekend when about 3 of us are testing within a couple of days Grin

Good luck with testing Purplr I'll keep my fx for a new year BFP for you Smile

Kat that seems awfully unreasonable of your partner. Is it worth sitting him down and discussing how that makes you feel and asking for him to compromise. Are you planning more than one child? If so is it worth agreeing to his choice this time on the understanding that next time it's entirely up to you?

That crash sounds awful Stark must have been a bit scary for you too as it's Mars not to think what if when stuff like that happens so close to home.

Still early days for symptoms Shelb anything could happen yet Grin

I've had some sharp sensations in my left pelvic region. Went on from about 3am to the middle of this morning and felt like being poked with a fat blunt knitting needle. I've also had a couple of shooting pains in my breasts. I don't want to read anything into it really but Ovia said it could be implantation Shock
We'll see as like you Shelb I'm only 3 or 4 dpo and I don't "feel" pregnant.

shelbTa · 11/12/2015 13:29

Haha, spunk monkey stark,** but you raise a good point, I've not been near oh trouser department since ovulation, best put some effort in this week Blush although he might be welcoming the break poor lad!

X

StarkyTheDirewolf · 11/12/2015 13:22

Jeeeeeez, I don't know what to say kat I feel for you. I'm quite laid back generally, but honestly, if my Dh told me he was naming our kids and no middle names I think I'd tell him to and suck a buffet of dicks!

shelb I've ordered 20 okp tests from amazon, they should arrive by Monday fx, and I'm at the start of my fertile week about next Friday so ill probably do one on Saturday and then every other day to see if I ovulate. And I'm going to aim to dtd every other day, but I'll get Dh prepared by dtd a good few times this week, just so he doesn't think I'm using him as a spunk monkey! Xmas Grin 🐒

I'm quite looking forward to it thh, it was a bad crash, my dsis was awake just before and said she heard the car approach and it was doing a fair old speed, but goodness knows how he managed to crash as it's a straight, wide road! He's written off at least one other car which was parked, I'm just so glad Dh was already home, any other day this week and he'd either have been heading out to work or just getting back at that time!

Hi ladies,

Welcome mannx!
*
Kat* that sounds like a tricky situation!

Hiya purple! God yeah that would be a tough one to explain why you are not boozing at your own nye party!

Hi stark! Jesus that crash sounds awful. Totally agree re trying to relax, and less booze always helps me, makes me anxy when I have a hangover. Are you doing opks during your fertile week? *in a chilled out way...

Yeah nothing much to report - still got medium level period pains, boobs and nips a bit sore but nothing major. I did have a ten second stitch under my left rib earlier (unusual) But I had just wolfed down brekkie so most likely be that. 3-4dpo now.

KatOnATinRo0f · 11/12/2015 11:24

Oh- the parents don't have middle names and neither does DH. Grr

KatOnATinRo0f · 11/12/2015 11:23

He's said no middle names. I hope he can be swayed on this point.

StarkyTheDirewolf · 11/12/2015 11:17

I agree runner absolutely no point putting life on hold, the way I'm looking at it is, if I fancy having a glass of wine or whatever over Christmas then I will, I don't really drink anyway anymore but everything I'm reading tells me being happy and relaxed is the way to go when ttc. I'm an anxious person anyway, but if anything, having made the decision to try, has chilled me out a bit! I'm more excited than anything at the minute! Although when I'm in my fertile week I'll probably be a bit more high maintenance than usual! Grin

Ooh kat I don't think I'd cope well with that! I understand and sympathise with the traditional aspect but they'd have no chance! My fanny, my baby name choice! I feel for you! I spend ages looking up baby names, we've got a few on a short long list! Could you perhaps name them after his parents but use their middle names?

How are you doing today shelb and leonie ?

There was a massive crash outside my house this morning at 6 am, some poor kid had to be extractated from his car, 4 fire engines, 2 ambulances and a police car, I've just looked online though and it looks like he's going to be okay.

Hi guys! Post on some other threads but just seen this one!
I'm on my 1ww after ov end of November! Took a pg test this morn and it was a big fat negative boo! Not meant to test til Wednesday so my own fault! This is only our first month ttc only came off the pill end of October! How is everyone else and were abouts are you in the process?? Xxx

KatOnATinRo0f · 11/12/2015 10:45

Yep his parent's first names. He's greek so it's traditional. If I have a second child of same gender I can choose. There are so many magical greek names and these two are not what I would even ever consider. Oh well. I have time to get used to them!

purplesmiler · 11/12/2015 09:36

Kat I do browse on there sometimes but even though I'm not pregnant yet we have chosen names as they are both ones we really like and mean something to us. Do you have to use DH'S family names?

KatOnATinRo0f · 11/12/2015 09:22

Does anyone else spend hours daydreaming on the baby names forum? Just wasted an hour of my life. Esp when I'm a) not pregnant and b) enforced to call my child (if it ever happens) after DHs parents (both names I hate)

purplesmiler · 11/12/2015 09:09

Hi Ladies,

I'm having a well earned day off work today it's so stressful and seems to be getting worse anyway TTC & Christmas are nice distractions.

According to Ovia my test date is going to be NYE and we were planning a party so I will probably get an early response test so I have an idea a couple of days before. Like OH says wouldn't that be a nice new years suprise.

shelbTa · 11/12/2015 08:20

Haha, go on runner! I'll be the same tonight at mine.

Feel totally normal today. CM has also stopped.

No tips for staying sane from me Le I go into complete excessive nut every time I hit tww.

Just got back from my Christmas party... There was a free bar... I don't think I'm pregnant this month... Now I hope I'm not pregnant this month! Shock
Seriously though. It can easily take a year to get pregnant so there's no point putting your life on hold and living like you are for all that time.
