We have been so busy chatting I've started a new thread. Welcome all 10+ ladies. Hope we all have some luck on this thread.

Thanks banana! That's how I was working it out but DH assumed it would be one day less....

bananafish81 · 16/02/2016 20:46

Boris not a stupid question! EC is day 0 and so if EC is Mon day 5 is Saturday. It's like ovulation - think of EC as ovulation day and then Sat would be equivalent to 5dpo xx

BorisIsBack · 16/02/2016 20:37

Hi lucie, I start taking drugs on Friday probably. Af due on Thursday.
Can I ask a realy dumb question about transfer days, how do you calculate the day 5 transfer? If Egg collection was Monday would transfer be Friday or saturday? Is it day 5 or 5 days later?? Really stupid question I realise I just can't work it out dumb blonde

Trixietwenty16 · 16/02/2016 16:15

Welcome to the thread Hopeful, I hope your egg collection went ok. I echo what the others said, it really is quality over quantity.

Welcome back Sammy, hope you're feeling refreshed and raring to go after your break.

Sorry for AF Star, it is so hard not to get your hopes up Flowers

Good news about being able to be treated on the NHS now Banana, good luck for your scan next week.

Got my results for the immunology blood tests Dr. G recommended and they are within normal range so feeling really pleased. Going to drop a copy in at the hospital tomorrow and see if they have any cancellation appointments.

lucieloos · 16/02/2016 09:40

Hi Sammy, glad you've had a good holiday!

Boris, how long until you get started? Do you have all your meds sorted now?

Banana, great news on your bloods and good luck with the viability scan.

Hi everyone.

fruitbat any sign of AF? Have you got your baseline scheduled?

Star and mpp sorry for AF.

Star - not sure what DHs results where, they have varied massively though. His volume has always been low which I think affects the validity of the results. Catching his jizz in a cup must be pretty tricky!

hopeful I don't have any advice but will hold your hand on this journey, my 1st ivf cycle should be starting soon.

banana thinking of you. Go log your pregnancy with the gp. I agree with your DH, you need to get it recorded.

sammy welcome back, how exciting, hope your drugs come ontime.

loopylou1984 · 15/02/2016 08:20

Morning ladies, I'm home!
Will read through and catch up between unpacking and washing this morning.

I have the morning off as my meds are being delivered today! Xx

bananafish81 · 14/02/2016 13:19

Hi ladies

Hope you’re all well

Boris excited for you, it’s really not long now, yay!

star hugs for AF. I don’t know specifically about Proxeed, but I know individual supplements can be really effective for MF (high dose vit C, zinc, selenium, CoQ10 -there’s a whole chapter in It Starts with the Egg about supplements for sperm improvement)

Mpp sorry about AF but very excited about your upcoming wedding and honeymoon - hope you’re planning something fabulous

itsme the aiming in the pot is I think a bigger problem than we think! My DH had a great sample with olympic swimmers but volume is very low so I think it doesn’t matter what the issue is, they feel a lot of male pride about it. But as you say, we don’t marry someone for their fertility - I know I’ve felt completely rubbish because I’ve felt so betrayed by my body, as though the one thing I’m supposed to be able to do, I can’t - it certainly made me feel less of a woman, so can only imagine what it’s like for the blokes where it’s so bound up psychologically with virility.

lucie hope you’re well and gearing up for your NHS cycle. Very smart of you to have your private cycles abroad so you could still get an NHS funded cycle Wink

Hopefull welcome - these ladies are so knowledgeable and really welcoming. Echoing Lucie, it’s quality over quantity all the way. There’s no reason one of those 5 might not be the golden egg Flowers

Not much to report here, I don’t feel particularly pregnant!! My third blood test showed hCG levels rising nicely,so now it’s just a question of twiddling my thumbs until my viability scan a week on Tuesday (23rd Feb), when all being well I’ll be 7+1, eek!! I’m massively struggling without all my pain meds, as I’ve been on a whacking great dose of morphine for over 14 years, so OTC co codamol isn’t doing a huge amount for my pain control. Saw the maternal medicine specialist who confirmed I deffo couldn’t have anything stronger in the first trimester, and put us on red alert for my epilepsy, as the danger zone is the first trimester - the chances of me having a seizure go up by as much as a third, but the Drs don’t want to increase my dose unless / until there is an indication that I need it (i.e. if I have a seizure) because of the increased risk of birth defects from higher doses.

Good news is that he will hopefully now be able to treat me on the NHS - as once the GP refers me to the hospital where he is part of the antenatal team, I will be in the system, and will be referred to his obstetric neurology specialist clinic.

I was really reluctant to see the GP and get a referral for antenatal, as it feels incredibly presumptuous to think I will get to 12 weeks at all. But DH says it’s crucial it's all logged with the GP, and that we have to assume I’m pregnant unless we have good reason to think otherwise.

Hope you ladies have lovely weekends

Xx

MPP81 · 14/02/2016 10:52

Ah, sorry Star, I forgot about your mf question. I can't remember exact numbers off the top of my head, but I know his count was under 2 million both times, his motility were fine but they couldn't test morphology because there weren't enough in the sample. We're booking a retest in March to see if the fertilaid has helped at all.

Itsme247 · 14/02/2016 10:25

Very similar to yours star! My DH swears he didn't get it all in the sample when the results came back (so they must be wrong..!) but when he did it he swore blind that he did in fact get it all... I think it's really tough on him. He is a mans man and he has a trillion siblings, I never know what to say because it really doesn't matter. I married him not his future children but interestingly he is totally against doner if it ever came to that. Oh well, I'm currently enjoying his new found vigour in trying to get us pregnant. He went off the boil a bit when he thought my tubes were blocked!!

Itsme247 · 14/02/2016 10:18

Male factor for us is 29.4mil 23% progressively motile and 3% normal morph.

MPP81 · 12/02/2016 17:54

Cross posted with Lucie! Smile

MPP81 · 12/02/2016 17:53

Sorry for AF Star Flowers It doesn't matter how much you convince yourself shes coming, it's still impossible to not feel a shred of hope and it's still a horrible feeling when she arrives. I hope you're OK. Yep, I'm going to temp from day 7 too.

Welcome Hopeful. Like star, I've no experience of ivf yet either, but there are a few ladies who do and I'm sure they'll be along soon. I know you said you feel your chances are not good, but any kind of chance is a chance, so try and be positive (even though it's bloody hard!). We are all here to listen and help if we can :)

lucieloos · 12/02/2016 17:50

Welcome hopeful, lots of people will say this to you but it quality over quantity. I only ever have 7 or 8 follicles max but I have always managed to get 1-2 blasts per cycle. I have been freezing them and will transfer later but so far I have 4 frozen. I'm sure you will do fine. It only takes one x

star1980 · 12/02/2016 17:01

AF has arrived Sad
Definitely expected this but still allowed myself to hope a little.

Thanks Lucie, that's helpful. think you're right - they're recommending ivf w icsi but we're on these proxeed supplements for 4 months before we get going which is feeling like a waste of time right now!

Mpp, I'm going to temp just from day 7 until ovulation so I know when to expect AF. No more of this false hope!

Welcome hopeful, sorry you're feeling down. I haven't done ivf, although a few others on here have and may have some thoughts. All I can say is don't give up hope, you never know and ultimately you only need one egg to stick so 5 might just be enough. What is your story? Flowers

Hopefull81 · 12/02/2016 15:03

Hi ladies

Would it be ok to join your thread? I am currently in my first cycle of IVF. Today I had my action scan where only 5 folicles were visible. I'm absolutely devastated about this. Retrieval day is Monday morning however I can't help but feel emotional as I know my chances are not good.

Has anyone been in the same situation?? xxx

lucieloos · 12/02/2016 14:57

Star, that's not too bad, the count should be 20million+ the motility is probably the worst. If that's progressive motility then it should be 32%, overall motility should be 40%+. My dh is similar in that his progressive motility is around 20% but overall motility is fine at 43%. Morphology should be 4% so it falls short in a couple of areas but not terribly bad which is why they've probably called it mild. I think because of your dhs results they've probably determined you will need IVF (with icsi I imagine) so don't see the need to do anymore testing on you as the outcome will be the same.

MPP, sorry to hear af has arrived but planning your honeymoon sounds a lovely way to take your mind off it!

Sammy, hope you are having a lovely holiday.

Fingers crossed you get a cancellation Trixie, but as you say April really isn't too far off. How amazing there's an immunes consultant at king's.
No pre-AF symptoms at all today. Had sore boobs for last couple of days but woke up this morning with nothing at all except the constant feeling in my pants (sorry) that AF is in full flow but not here yet. I'm not actually late though, today is CD29 and my cycles are 25 - 28 days this last year. Basically mpp has already spelled out what will happen with me tonight!

Sorry for af mpp, so cruel. But what a silver lining!

Hope the hsg went well Boris!

Ladies with male factor issues, may I ask how bad they actually are? My OH's latest results are count 18 mil/ml; motility 18%, morphology 2% normal. Pretty poor. But then the letter from our consultant appt came through yesterday and said our diagnosis was: 1. Mild male factor, 2. Unexplained.

Feel a bit odd about the unexplained bit as I haven't had my tubes checked and they seemed to just stop investigations once they saw the SA results. Just wondering what numbers others are working with... No need to share if you feel uncomfortable, if you're happy to pm me, please do Smile

Trixietwenty16 · 12/02/2016 10:12

Sorry for AF MPP Flowers what a silver lining though!

That's a good way of looking at it Fruitbat.

I'm not sure Star. I think she said that we would be able to start the month after the appointment so if I could get a cancellation appointment with the other consultant (which I am going to try and do) then I guess there would be a chance of starting in March but I am happy to wait until April. I was thinking maybe it was the same Consultant you saw. I had a quick look at the Proxeed, I think we've got most of the various vitamins etc at home anyway. Have you got any pre-AF signs at all?

MPP81 · 12/02/2016 08:56

Morning all!

Hi Star! Giving up temping it seems is only fun and 'freeing' for the first half of the month. For the second half, it's irritating not being in some kind of control (for me anyway). Def returning to temping and opks this month, plus we have the preseed to try. Fingers crossed for you. Hope you get to test and get a positive result on Saturday!

So, last night, DP got home, we had a chat about how we were going to poas this morning and lo and behold, two hours later AF arrived! Still disappointed obviously, because would have preferred the elusive bfp, but the sting is lessened a tiny tiny bit this month by knowing that, even if we do get a bfp beforehand, we can go on our honeymoon, and we spent last night booking in our excursions (I think this was his way of cheering me up after AF). Anyway... onwards to cycle... 20, I believe.

Fruitbatyogi · 11/02/2016 21:57

Hello [waves] to all

thanks for the lovely welcome Flowers

I'm waiting for af here - due some time between Saturday and Tuesday - fertility friend and I don't agree this month...

At least this time I can then get on with the ivf baseline scan, so for once it will help me move on. That's what I'm saying to myself anyway.

star1980 · 11/02/2016 14:12

Trixie, delighted your appointment went well and you can get going in a couple of months. Was April the earliest start time or could you have got going with your next cycle? Wonder if you saw the same consultant as me - she suggested proxeed too. It's sooo expensive (£90/mth) and I read elsewhere on mumsnet that it's just vitamins and not worth it. Oh well we've been on it for a month now so we'll see in a couple more months if there's any difference.

Hello fruitbat, you're very welcome but I'm sorry you find yourself here Flowers Sounds like things are all go for you soon. 2016 has been lucky for this thread so far so you've come to the right place!

Banana, how you doing? Any symptoms yet? Did you have another blood test?

Oh Boris, so exciting you start so soon! Good luck with everything in the run up. Well done on staying healthy, really good idea.

Mpp, damn your long cycle. Obviously hoping for you that it doesn't arrive and it's a bfp. But if that's not going to happen, I hope it just gets a move on to put you out of your misery.

I'm kind of wishing I temped this cycle. Officially 1 day late according to apps but since I didn't temp it's just based on my average length of 26 days so really I won't be actually late until Saturday. Obviously daydreaming about testing on Sat morning, but I know it'll turn up just before.

Trixietwenty16 · 11/02/2016 13:37

Ooh, your cycle has come round nice and quickly Boris! Sounds like you've got everything covered.

How annoying MPP, I had a long cycle this month too, about a million false alarms until finally AF showed up last night.

MPP81 · 11/02/2016 12:28

Welcome Fruit bat! I also ironically concieved my first while on the pill, and didn't realise I was pregnant for 3 months but that was 13 years ago. Currently waiting Til after our wedding in a few months to start ivf but as Trixie said, there's quite a few ladies already on the path and they're very knowledgeable and helpful!

That all sounds fab Boris! Won't be long now and everything will be underway!

No AF for me still. Another annoying cycle and I'm kicking myself for not temping now though it didn't help me last month If it doesn't arrive today, it will officially be my longest cycle since we've been ttc and im sorely tempted to poas but since my standard pre-af headaches are here, I think it'll just be a waste.

lucieloos · 11/02/2016 12:16

Wow Boris that's not long at all..very exciting! Can't wait for your to get out there. Good luck with the hsg and other tests.
