It was about 18 months before we paid privately. We would have waited due to cost, but thankfully my amazing parents are helping us out. Xx

Sammy yeah they said that when I had the ultrasound, so definitely sounds worth it. How long did you wait before you went for private IVF? Obviously we'd all rather do this naturally but at the same time I don't want to let time pass unnecessarily.
Really exciting about next Thursday, sending you lots of luck!!

Lucie God just the thought of another 10 months like this makes me feel sick. So is that why you went privately initially?

Hey panda, well in order to get any kind of assisted conception you need your AMH test done, so may as well!
When you get to 12 months ttc you may find you can get it on the nhs.

We've been ttc a little over 2 years now . Have had ivf privately and have 5 blastocysts in the freezer but sadly never got to put one back in as I developed ohss. We have since tried two frozen cycles, 1st was abandoned following a bad reaction to the drugs, then a natural cycle didn't work out as I never ovulated. However fx we are looking at transfer this Thursday! Xx

I had the feeling too and did all my tests after 6 months but I was 35 then. I think the wait on the NHS depends on which area you are in. For me it's been 10 months to the initial appt but I know others who live in different parts of the country get seen a lot quicker.

That's good news about the NHS appointment. I haven't got that far in my research yet, how long do you have to wait for an appointment usually?
I hope you're right about the AMH test :) I think I will look into having it, I know really 10 months isn't that long and ppl keep telling me anything under a year is normal but i just have this feeling and I don't want to waste time.

You should be ok at that age panda. I don't think you amh will be too low. I've had a few ivfs privately and am banking embryos for transfer later on. We have our appt to get started on NHS in a couple of weeks.

Hey Sammylou!
Got some blood tests done to check hormones etc last week so just waiting for results. Didn't include AMH tho so wondering if I need that done too. Apart from that I think it's trying for another couple of months and then an HSG to check my tubes.
How long have you been trying? xx

Set up a thread as I'm new on here and then I spotted this one and it seemed to fit! Just got my period so that's month 10 of TTC #1. Had a few tears but more than anything I'm just so tired from this emotional rollercoaster.
I've had an internal ultrasound and looked good apart from slightly polycystic ovaries but I appear to ovulate and have a 29 day cycle and the husbands SA was good.
It would just be nice to chat to others who understand what this feels like because it's a pretty lonely journey, even with a very supportive husband.

I'm not sure about the Facebook group. Part of the reason I love Mumsnet is the anonymity. I'll think about it.

My tummy muscles feel really bruised after the trigger, I don't remember this from last time.

I have to admit to poas this morning, it's nice to know those internet cheapie a actually do pick up hcg! Lol. Xx

I don't know if it will be useful to any of you but I'm part of a Facebook group called infertility uk. Lots of people going through all stages of infertility but it's really supportive and loads of really knowledgeable ladies. If it would help any of you pm me

Yes I would actually be happy if they said March time as that would be the decision made but I've read recently of them telling people to book in their cycle on the way out and I feel like I need an answer ready if they ask if we are able to do it in Jan. No way could I decide off the top of my head.

It is hard when there is so much to consider. DH and I struggled with our decision on our next step but I think my gut feeling was always to have the tests and then a break before our NHS go.
I guess you will find out more at your appointment in December and it may be that you can't actually get started until March time anyway. And at least you'll have a month break between cycles.

It's cd13 and lining was 6.7mm - very much a surprise, and so glad we decided to pay for an extra scan! Yes it's made the baby bomb slightly less painful.

Trixie - glad your going to be able to fit the hysteroscopy in now!

Lucie - it is a really tough decision. A few months extra wait isn't that long really and if you feel better with more frosted in the bank then go for it! Xx

Thanks trixie, yes it is a tough one. If I had 5 I would be happy enough but I think with only 3 it's a bit touch and go. Likelihood is at my age only one of those will be viable but that doesn't mean it will definitely work. There could be a lining problem on that occasion or any number of other things or we maybe be unlikely and none will be viable. I think in my head I probably know it makes sense to stick with the plan and do the extra private cycle and start transfers in March but instead of using frosties have the fresh NHS ones instead. It's just hard if a free cycle with transfer is offered on a plate relatively quickly.

It's a tough decision to make, DH and I are going for our fresh NHS cycle rather than use our frosties in case we need them for a sibling. You've got 3 frosties from 2 cycles haven't you so I'm sure that would be enough for a sibling and you never know, you could have something to freeze from the NHS cycle if all goes well.

That all sounds brilliant Sammy and what a lovely surprise it must have been! How thick is your lining and and what cycle day are you on?

It would be good to save that money and so NHS straight away. The only reason I'm considering private is because I'm thinking ahead for a sibling. If we were lucky and the NHS worked I'm 36 now so by the time I had the baby and was good to go again I would likely be 38. My eggs are few now and at 38 they would be older and not so many viable so I think it would be very hard to have success from a fresh cycle. I have 3 blasts frozen now but if I delay the NHS until March I have potential to have 4 or 5 frozen to try with for w sibling. I just don't want to be kicking myself later that we didn't wait those extra couple of months to get some more?

That's brilliant news Sammy! Wow, this time next week you'll be PUPO, hopefully this takes the sting out of being baby bombed.

Lucie I think it will be a bit stressful trying to fit in a cycle in Prague before your NHS cycle, I would focus on the NHS treatment in your shoes.

Really thought AF was starting this morning and have been having cramps on and off all day so think it will be tomorrow (I know I said that yesterday!). Will make it a 36 day cycle. Good news is that I'll be so late that I can still fit in the hysteroscopy this cycle.

Pikz I really hope you're right!

Thanks Lucie, yes that's exactly it. They said they don't normally trigger on a FET, but because it's natural they need me to ov tomorrow so transfer is Thursday.

If I were you I think I'd be doing the nhs cycle. You may not need to spend any more money on frostiness if it works! Xx

Omg Sammy that's amazing! Are they triggering you to ovulate and then you put the frostie in 5 days later? So pleased for you. Finally we are getting some good news on here!
