Hi (big wave)
So you clicked on here cos you were looking for me (I'm flattered!) or the title seemed interesting!
I'm aware it doesn't really explain anything but we are bunch of lovely ladies all TTC and going ever so slightly crazy with it! For more info see our original thread here -

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/2412386-TTC-anxious-over-early-pregnancy-possible-symptoms?msgid=56357000#56357000

And our most recent thread here -

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/2458534-Prtys-Gang-and-The-Festival-of-Foof-Fun-when-they-not-being-cray-cray?pg=1&order=

We are symptoms spotters extraordinaire - you name it we've had it, real and/or imagined confused
We are here to help, we are all supportive, we laugh, rant, cry, joke, rage, smile, and comfort together. Be you a lurker or poster (established or new) then you are very welcome here. We only have a few rules:

  1. No judgement - we all lead different lives and have different standards and that is fine. You wanna get wasted everyday of TWW, that's fine. You wanna abstain completely, that's fine. We need support, not judgement.
  2. No feeling stupid - we've all had those months where we definitely think we are pg 110% convinced and then AF turns up, don't feel bad about it, it happens. Also we all have different levels of knowledge so no question is stupid apart from the one you don't ask.
  3. On this thread there is no such thing as TMI - we are all adults and we all know how miraculous and amazing... and downright disgusting our bodies can be, it's fine. Share what you want, we will not be fazed.

So that's it, jump in and FX'd for all my lovelies xx

FFS. It's not your job to know why. The nurse should have asked your GP (or whoever requested them).

Anyhoo. In getting off my biochemist chair now and going to sit in my non work chair where I can happily obsess about TTC and ignore all my training

sits

PrtyPsn · 12/10/2015 21:52

I love how we have a little pot of specialist skills Grin
I used to have bloods taken routinely, no idea what for and when I wasn't able to explain to my new nurse why she cancelled them all!

Unpredictable. Y'know. Wonky.

SharyBobbins · 12/10/2015 21:02

Thanks the moo! Wonky ovulation! What's that?!

themoo · 12/10/2015 20:47

If your insulin was normal it doesn't neccessarily mean you don't have pcos, but high insulin can affect production of androgens which is what causes wonky ovulation, excess hair etc. If they suspected pcos they would have tested for it one way or another so I would say you're probably ok. Ask them if you're not sure! They won't mind x

SharyBobbins · 12/10/2015 20:40

themoo I had no idea they were testing for half the stuff they tested for to be honest! But when they read out the results they said 'diabetes test- normal' so I'm unsure what they tested for- I just assumed insulin? If my insulin is normal can I assume I don't have PCOS? I didn't have fasting bloods, they were all part of the day 21 bloods. I did have one of those finger prick tests years ago- that was fine too. I'm so confused!

themoo · 12/10/2015 20:14

Having said that, pcos is associated with high insulin levels, whereas diabetes I'd associated with not enough insulin. So if they tested your insulin and It was normal its a rule out for pcos risk. I imagine they would have tested for androgens (a hormone) too.

themoo · 12/10/2015 20:08

shary yes diabetes would have been picked up if they tested for it. Do you know if they did a fasting glucose test or HbA1c or insulin?

Glucose tests your actual blood sugar levels at the time of the test (so it's a snapshot), Hba1c is a slightly longer term view of your ability to control blood sugars, and insulin is the actual hormone that responds to your blood sugars to control the levels. They are all useful in diabetes diagnosis but give a slightly different perspective. If they did any of the three it would probably have come back abnormal if you had diabetes.

You can all wake up now.

neetie1 · 12/10/2015 20:03

Evening... well day 21 of cycle and still no big symptoms but also no cramping as yet, not sure if that is good or not. DH says that boobs look bigger and quite bloated so still in limbo ... Af due sun or tues depending what app I look at so still a bit early to test.

SharyBobbins · 12/10/2015 17:46

Thanks ladies :) Other than OH I have no desire to talk about ttc with other people so it's lovely to have this awesome supportive thread!

Prty I had a boat load of hormonal bloods done and they all came back normal, including a diabetes test. It says on NHS direct "PCOS is associated with abnormal hormone levels in the body, including high levels of insulin" so I'm assuming this would have been picked up in the blood work??

What do you think ladies?

PrtyPsn · 12/10/2015 17:12

bex since March so 7 months but the first few cycles were hit and miss with a moving fertile window lol

Sorry - stupid phone! So many typos above! Blush

MrsFlowers82 · 12/10/2015 16:12

Hi all. Sorry I agent been back, had a busy weekend house hunting which is good as taken my mind of TTC... A bit. Feel like I am hit waiting for AF to be honest.

Seems like we are all worrying and feeling rubbish this month. I constantly worry there is something wrong with me... It's so hard to remain optimistic sometimes. I'm sending lots of virtual hugs and chocolate round to you. FX for some BFPs soon.

Kitten the sweepstake made me laugh! I'm due a visit tomorrow. What about everyone else?

MummyBex1985 · 12/10/2015 14:01

Prty have you been trying for around 9 months now?

Given up with my cycle, AF due any time between this Wednesday and next Friday, anyone fancy a sweepstake? Lol

PrtyPsn · 12/10/2015 12:32

It really is youandme I really just wanna give up but I know that's not the answer, it's so hard because you can't quit but it's difficult to keep going some days
Still no AF btw :/

Morning all. Sorry everyone's having such a bad time at the moment. It's hard going all this isn't it?

BittersweetRose · 12/10/2015 10:04

So sorry shary - bodies are weird. They never seem to do what we want them to :(

Offers Monday morning mochas to all (decaf and full caf)
Hands hotwater bottle to Katy

I got all excited yesterday as I found something that was probably EWCM (definitely stretchy). Alas, nothing like it this morning, and no temp spike. However, I did discover while consulting Dr Google that being on anti-hystamines can reduce CM as well as other kinds of M. As I take them daily due to allergies/asthma, that might explain why I'm not getting much CM of any kind.

Interesting to read that according to some studies about 20% of women don't get a noticeable change in BBT around ovulation. So I suppose it's possible that between the two things, I could have no temp spike or obvious EWCM, and I could still get PG?

I'm not sure if that's reassuring or just damn annoying...

PrtyPsn · 12/10/2015 09:59

katy afraid I can't help with either :( given your medical history it might be worth mentioning it to doc. Unsure about pads - lots of people have chemicals but never know as they don't test and its same time as AF so perhaps unknowingly they use tampons.
Sorry I'm not much more use than that!

MummyBex1985 · 12/10/2015 09:56

Moo did you have crohns/colitis? A friend of mine nearly died and had very similar surgery to you, he's still struggling now a few years on, had to have another op recently. It must have been awful for you. FX for the rest of the TTC journey.

Hope everyone's okay today. I'm avoiding POAS until at least Friday after my umpteenth BFuckingN yesterday.

PrtyPsn · 12/10/2015 09:56

Since March hippy but we missed that FW then the next two we thought we were DTD at the right time but senates AFs shunted the window on the app :/ never had a positive OPK but don't temp as I suffer with severely broken sleep plus I'm worried I'm gonna get obsessed.
Not sure if it's just my nature to doubt everything. Looks like my bleed was most likely a chemical/early MC yet I still don't actually believe that I can get pg!

OP posts:
Katytatiepot · 12/10/2015 09:55

Oh I've remembered my other question, I knew I would once I pressed send. Do you need to use pads with a bleed from a chemical? I read somewhere that you should so I have been but I hate them.

Also, read agon as agony in the post above.

Katytatiepot · 12/10/2015 09:53

Moo Wow, that whole intestine thing sounds mad. Glad you've got such a positive outlook on it all though.

I've ended up having to phone in sick to work today, felt awful doing it but I've been up most the night with horrendous cramps even though I've been dosed up on paracetamols and even codeine at one point. Throw some lovely trapped wind into the mix and I was in agon. At one point I was trapped still like a statue on the stairs while on a hunt for painkillers, totally bent doubled over unable to move. This bleed needs to end and just never happen again!

I thought of two questions to ask you lovely ladies but now I can only think of one, the other may come back later. Do you need to inform your GP about a possible chemical? Just wondering with all my endo issues if they should be told.

hippybird · 12/10/2015 09:35

Hi all! A lot of ups and downs this month for all of us. Shary I think a lot of us are worried about not ov. Prty you're worried you have annovulatory cycles, is that right? How long have you been TTC? You could go to docs if you're really worried, show the evidence (BBT chart, record of -VE OPKs), and get him/her to do some tests. I'm worried I'm not OV-ing either. This cycle my temps stayed low til day 20, with mini bleed on day 14, and now the last few days have gone up (although I've had a tummy bug). I'm now 2 days late, although I've had x2 BFNs (yesterday and this morn). It's all very confusing. Good luck to you. How long are your cycles? Maybe you'll OV a little later...? Xx

PrtyPsn · 12/10/2015 07:33

Aww shary that's just crappy :( our bodies are just the most frustrating things! I don't want to scare you or make things worse but have you ever been tested/had symptoms of PCOS? I'm starting to think that may be the cause of my constant fertile CM this cycle
