TTC #1 coming off the pill in December - anyone else in the same boat?!

Hi,

I am going to be coming off the pill after ten years plus on it after my pack finishes in December. Excited but also terrified about what my body is going to do once I'm without all the hormones!

Anyone else doing the same roughly the same time?

Shelb x

(Hope this goes through struggling to post)

Hello, can I join this thread? I came off the pill (cerelle) at the end of August with the plan to start TTC for #1. Been on various pills for over 10 years. It took about 7 weeks months for my periods to return. Both me and OH are 34 and have been delaying TTC until we bought a house, then did the house up, the jobs were secure (is there ever a good time?) but started TTC as I'm rapidly approaching 35...

Pinklily1 · 11/11/2015 21:10

Just think of it as being prepared Deborah!

Deborah89 · 11/11/2015 20:53

I think I've started to become obsessed . . . I have ordered loads of frer tests today to arrive tomorrow so I can take one on Friday!!

Runner05 · 11/11/2015 20:28

Pink I never would have thought of it but I've read about others on here doing it to get a better look if they have a squinter... Yes, they break open really easily, just use a screw driver or something similar, pit it in the seam between the front and back parts and lever it open. Pops open nicely, the actual test strip is not attached the the absorbent tip you pee on you you can take it out and throw the rest away.

Pinklily1 · 11/11/2015 20:14

Runner - I would say I can't believe you broke a test open, but I'm fairly confident that come January I'll be doing exactly the same. Just so I know - do they break open easily?!!

Runner05 · 11/11/2015 20:03

Pink I can probably do an early test early next week as I'm not sure the exact date I ovulated.

I certainly did not heed the call of the pissy sticks today even though it's really early, I then did not break the test open and hold the strip up at different angles trying to decide whether I could see the barest hint of colour where the line should be, and even more importantly I didn't look at it again about an hour later which is completely pointless as it was way outside the time frame to see a very obvious faint line and I'm definitely not considering wasting a Frer tomorrow with FMU because it's too early and I should be patient.

So just throwing it out there... If I wasn't going mad and there was a line how is that even possible? Shock Oh why did I have to look at the pissy sticks!

Purple Sorry work is stressful but at least you're over hump day.

Stark If playing up the big boobs angle works then use it Wink

Bergamot Sounds like you have very similar symptoms to me. I recommend not testing early. That way madness lies! Confused

Aww Ni Sorry the internet cheapy let you down, have a biscuit Biscuit

Dr Men are evil with their teasing. I was sat next to a newborn in the coffee shop yesterday... I think I'm missing the female gene that makes you broody in the proximity of babies. I don't actually like other peoples kids Hmm

DrWhy · 11/11/2015 18:31

Aww starky the 'more of us' but is very sweet - my DH definitely hasn't got that far! Mind you the increased boobs might sell it, I'm mainly going with the increased Dec drive at the moment.
To be fair this has been agreed for about 2 years and I think he's mainly teasing me!
I have just moved back to a town I lived in a couple of years ago and several of my friends here now have babies so at the weekend I did my first effort at helping with baby bathtime and story reading, that has definitely not helped my broodiness!

Ni4444 · 11/11/2015 18:21

My cheapie online tests arrived yesterday so I said I'd test this morning just to see!! Ha! I had started to think my period was so short and light that maybe it was implantation bleeding. I know it was ridiculously unlikely but when the tests are that cheap!! I am also feeling sensations in my womb that I haven't felt since my pre-pill days! At all times of my cycle. Weird. Let's hope getting back to exercise helps the body feel stronger and a bit less of a pansy!

BergamotMouse · 11/11/2015 18:13

Haha starky - if bigger boobs helps seal the deal then that's a good think. It was sweet about the more of us bit.

I'm massively symptom spotting. Sore boobs, cramps like mild period pains (though I might be imagining them) and my temp had a second rise this morning. I looked online and having a second rise in temp indicates pregnancy for some women but not for other - great!!! I wish it was just black and white.

According to Ovia it's 7 days to test (when AF is due). I can't decide whether to do one earlier this Sunday though (3 days early).

Pinklily1 · 11/11/2015 17:50

Men are obsessed with boobs!!

StarkyTheDirewolf · 11/11/2015 17:37

We had our talk! Dh explained his worries, mainly due to (as I thought) the situation with the ex, and rounded it off with "I had a think and realised I was being selfish, because I was just thinking about me and you as us, but if we have a baby, there will be more of us, and it will be nice...and your boobs will be ENORMOUS! So let's go for it"

I've been run down this week and my tablet packed up, but I'm on a new one now! I've missed loads since yesterday! I'm another one who is a massive avocate for cBT and therapy, it works, I never believed in it till I had my first round of it and I'm waiting on a letter for a followup course. How are we all? I'm fertile in the next couple of days, due to ovulate Friday I think, Dh will be confused and pleased haha

purplesmiler · 11/11/2015 16:38

Still haven't been able to catch up as work has been so stressful again, sorry to hear a few of us are feeling stressed or down. It's crazy how you can go from a relaxing break and within hours feel like you never went away.

Pinklily1 · 11/11/2015 16:24

Just realised I missed a few posts. Sometimes I think men will only actually be interested in a baby when it arrives, and even more so when they get to the age they can start playing action figure related games with it!!

Pinklily1 · 11/11/2015 16:22

Haha, well done Runner! I love a successful complaint!

When can you test?

Runner05 · 11/11/2015 14:49

The best refund I managed to get was about £1,500 for a correspondence course that was rubbish. I managed to convince them that their material was flawed, their videos were amateurish and their written material was full of spelling and grammar mistakes. I also pointed out that I'd learned nothing with them but though other sources had learned everything they'd failed to teach.

Dr Monumental disinterest seems to be a common attribute in men when talking about stopping the pill and pregnancy etc... I've come to the conclusion that I'm going to have to buy the baby lots of Star Wars toys to get his attention Ha! Grin

DrWhy · 11/11/2015 14:25

Oh and I'm at home this afternoon waiting in for some stuff that's being shipped to me so I managed to speak to DH. I mentioned to him that I'd finished my pill pack so if my job was confirmed I assumed I wouldn't start the next one, his response 'why did you assume that?' - err 'because that's what we agreed', 'oh when did I agree to that?' 'About 4 days ago, at the weekend' 'oh, OK then'.
To say he's not bothered by it all would be an understatement!

DrWhy · 11/11/2015 14:21

Good work runner BA managed to delay and then damage my luggage on a long journey recently - they've paid out for the delay without quibble but the replacement case they are trying to give me is naff so I'm trying to gather up some energy for the inevitable fight...!

BergamotMouse · 11/11/2015 13:58

Well done on the refund runner. I recently complained to pizza express as got a pretty raw base on pizza when I last went which I sent back and it came back no better. They've given me 2 complementary mains but to get them I have to take in my complaint letter to the restaurant I complained about!!! I can't bring myself to do it.

BunchOfBobs · 11/11/2015 13:49

Runner you sound like a woman after my own heart. I love a successful complaint. I got £340 quid back off the kitchen company for a damaged unit that I don't has time to wait for a replacement and I've had many other successful complaints- free kindle, free iPod. There is always a reason to complain politely.

Runner05 · 11/11/2015 13:35

Feeling very pleased with myself and just have to share.
In August we went with the children and their Granddad to Disneyland Paris. It was good but there were so many little things that were terrible (wallpaper hanging off in the rooms, bad service etc.) that I wrote a rather epic complaint letter. The family thought I was mental and I had to chase Disney repeatedly looking for the right people to speak to but I finally got a response and a refund of about a third of the holiday cost!!!! So chuffed, I feel like I've won a war Grin

Runner05 · 11/11/2015 13:01

Women who are ttc are strange creatures. I'm actually happy that I have tender boobs, the fact that I have a tummy ache makes me hopeful and I nearly danced when I just realised that my cm has thickened up. This is not normal behaviour! Hmm

Ni4444 · 11/11/2015 08:17

Bless, I love the misplaced pride from our OHs when it's completely the wrong time of the month! it's not rocket science...they just don't listen!

Runner05 · 11/11/2015 07:31

Morning everyone, how are you all today?

Kat you may not be out. Wait and see if the witch shows up Smile

Appart from dropping OH at work I'm planning to stay indoors and be productive for most of the day. I've got Christmas presents to order, stuff to put on eBay and the live action Cinderella to watch Grin

After dtd last night my OH turned round and said "you want to be careful, if you keep doing that you're going to get pregnant" lol, I didn't have the heart to tell him I'm past my fertile week now so no amount of shagging will get me upduffed unless I am already Confused

KatOnATinRo0f · 10/11/2015 22:53

Wow I've missed so much!! How is everyone going so far this week? Cd 15 for me, had a bit of a blip over the weekend (drank far too much wine) so I think I'm out for this month as that was my most fertile day. We shall see. Used ov sticks from sainsburys (pee on ones) last two afternoons after work but didn't get a positive response. Wasn't until about 5.30-6pm though. Possibly doing something wrong.

DrWhy · 10/11/2015 21:40

Thanks Leonie I had a long chat with the job holder today (future bosses boss) and he certainly seems to think that I'll be joining the team! I really must find these vitamins if we are really going to go ahead with this in a month... Mind you I should probably also stop eating junk and make an effort to start some exercise again too!
Runner05 I've been in counselling a couple of times and on and off antidepressants for 6 years now - I remind myself that my mental health is just as important as my physical health and try to treat it accordingly. Rest and try to treat yourself kindly through this difficult time.
shelb I'll have to try to find that program although anything that is even slightly sad or is too sweet tends to make me cry buckets so it's probably best to get some tissues in first!
Sorry to hear a few people are having bad days or feeling unwell I hope things start to improve for you all and good luck to those already waiting, temping, charting and peeing on things!!
