TTC #1 coming off the pill in December - anyone else in the same boat?!

Hi,

I am going to be coming off the pill after ten years plus on it after my pack finishes in December. Excited but also terrified about what my body is going to do once I'm without all the hormones!

Anyone else doing the same roughly the same time?

Shelb x

(Hope this goes through struggling to post)

Shelb How are you feeling knowing your off the pill now?!

Runner I'm not feeling hopeful now, I think I had a bug as those symptoms have gone now and I don't have any other symptoms. I also couldn't resist spin a test yesterday and it was a definite negative. Am going to wait until AF due now before testing again.

Dr whoop!!! Good luck with Ttc now! Grin

Bergamot if the pregnancy tests are going out of date it would be silly not to start testing Wink

Runner05 · 14/11/2015 07:59

Shelb you're off the pill!!!! GrinWinkThanks

Morning ladies, how are you all doing today? apart from Shelb as we all know you're doing the first day off the pill dance

I'm quietly hopeful. Skittle tits has reduced a bit but they're still tender and my temp chart has gone up over the past 3 days Smile I should be able to do an early test in 2 days but I think tests aren't very accurate if done then.
Spoke to OH last night and told him there was a chance actually worded it as, I find out if you have super sperm next week he seemed quite happy about it and has been making fun of me ever since saying I'm only using him for his sperm Shock

How are the rest of you in tww doing? Any symptoms yet? Biscuit

Runner05 · 13/11/2015 13:31

Oh Dr that's great news Thanks

DrWhy · 13/11/2015 12:59

Ooh... Runner that's very exciting! We can all do TWW with you Smile

I officially have my job!! Hurrah after 10 months of uncertainty and threat of redundancy both DH and I have jobs and they are in the same city (which rather helps with TTC!). It's a step down but in the current climate I can't be fussy!

Now I just have to hope that DH doesn't get cold feet about babies...!

shelbTa · 13/11/2015 09:01

Runner this is big news!!

Bergamot as the tests are going to run out it would be rude not to use them even if they will be neg because they're too early. You still have the excitement of practicing Wink

I'm going to try and hold off testing until the middle of next week now. I keep swinging between being certain I'm pregnant and thinking there's no way I've caught in the first month and any symptoms are in my head.

Shelb woohoo! Last pill day dance!!!

Pinklily1 · 13/11/2015 08:31

Happy last pill day Shelb!

shelbTa · 13/11/2015 08:19

Morning ladies!

Bloody hell runner that's exciting!

Will try and catch up on thread, been a monster week.

Stark that's a tough about your OH :-(. Mine is being a dick too if it's any consolation!

Last day in on pill for me today, bricking it now!!

Morning all,

When are you next going to test runner? I know - this tww is going on forever!!!!

I dug out my old pregnancy tests from my sock drawer yesterday and found out all 12 of them go out of date this month. Makes me think I can afford to waste a few on early ones. Maybe I'll try one tonight (even though it 100% won't shown anything).

Definitely had a one day dip in temp yesterday which could be a positive implantation sign.

Runner05 · 13/11/2015 07:56

Hi everyone, how are you all today?

Stark I hope you get around your other half.

Bunch that sucks about it being out until Feb but it's not that long away. December will go in a flash and then you'll have something to look forward to during horrible boring Jan.

I think the tww is going to drive me mad. It seems to last forever! I've definitely got skittle tits and itchy nips and they feel a bit fuller too. Im hoping that's a good sign as my other symptoms have now disappeared, unless you count suddenly having the sniffles which some people would Hmm

BunchOfBobs · 13/11/2015 03:28

Morning all,
That's me out at sea for work for the eBay 3-4 weeks. On night shift no less. I may go a bit quiet but I hope to keep up to date with the thread.
AF fucked off just as I left home so no swimmers in place.

So what have I missed?
Oh my goodness Starky he had his ear bitten off?!
My DH has been dragging his feet for a while. Now I'm away and it'll most likely be impossible to get upduffed on my brief forays home, we know it's off the cards until feb. he's feeling much more relaxed and looking forward to feb but I think come january he'll start panicking again.
Today he got a mega promotion though so that should help calm his finance fears down at least.

Pinklily1 · 12/11/2015 20:55

Starky, a PowerPoint presentation means serious business! Hope OH comes round to getting on with the baby making sooner.

Fingers crossed for all the pissy stickers! Smile

purplesmiler · 12/11/2015 20:46

Evening all, I'm enjoying a glass of wine and chocolate tonight so naughty but so nice. Me and my OH decided we wanted a baby first but will get married. I used to want marriage first but since meeting my OH our priorities have changed. Where we went on holiday last week we were discussing going back there to marry in the future it's all so exciting.

StarkyTheDirewolf · 12/11/2015 20:02

That's exactly what my Dh thinks planning he's said it loads "oh, it will be fine, it will only take one time unprotected and you'll be pregnant!" I'm more realistic, it's not a Disney film, my ovaries are rattling about crying for some action! He thinks because we're both outwardly healthy, it won't be a problem and I'm ovaryacting (get it?! Grin ) I think he's a knob and we'll get to this time next year and my womb will be pronounced null and void!

Planningtobeamum1 · 12/11/2015 18:54

Definitely it was the 35 thing that swayed it for my DH, having said that he is also convinced he has supersperm and wholly believed we could wait until 10 months before my 35th before we started TTC. As it happens, whenever it happens for us I will be at least 35. --

This is all new to me and from reading this thread I've clearly not been taking it seriously enough - I have an app, but not doing temps etc, plus still trying to interpret all the abbreviations involved!! Think I believed he has supersperm and it would all happen as soon as I came off the pill!!

Runner05 · 12/11/2015 18:44

Ni I'm in the same position. Really want to get married first but like you say, you can get married any time but the ability to have a kid has a sell by date.

Ni4444 · 12/11/2015 17:58

I've been there too Stark. To be honest I was hoping to prompt a ring first, but finally decided that was something I would like, but kids was something I wanted! Plus marriage can happen over 35 so I've put that on the back burner.I think it helped that there was lots of radio and news stuff about age and conceiving that I drew his attention to at the time..plus I reported that my GP had told me to get on with it!

StarkyTheDirewolf · 12/11/2015 17:54

I'm problem going to do a planned meltdown cry + power point presentation on Sunday. Not that I'm a manipulative bitch Grin . I understand his reasons, I just don't want to comply Grin

Runner05 · 12/11/2015 17:42

Dr just burst out laughing at the "todo" list thing Grin

Come to think about it Stark I think I went down the burst out in tears and share the scary facts and figures rout... It wasn't planned though.

DrWhy · 12/11/2015 17:22

Runner and Mouse it's supposed to be a 12 (14) step program - not a to do list! Smile

Mouse my approach to DH was similar. I was 33, we were living together, I'd subtly mentioned it a couple of times and he was getting a bit huffy about having to hear about it. I had a bit of a breakdown and showed him lots of stats about fertility and age (whilst sobbing). I got a very quiet and non-committal response. A couple of weeks later we were discussing (arguing) about the value/stupidity of business class flights and I ended up saying 'look if we had kids would you honestly refuse to take them to Disney if we could only afford to go by flying economy?!' Response was 'oh, we can if you want by the way'. After expressing my utter bafflement it turned out that the thought of kids had reminded him that he'd been think about the family thing and decided 'yes OK'!
We set a timescale and I helpfully mentioned that I wanted to be married first - he proposed on holiday a few months later and is now DH. Currently still sticking to the timeline although sounding increasingly nervous...!
Stark if your DH is at all like mine I can highly recommend the statistics approach...

StarkyTheDirewolf · 12/11/2015 17:17

I've told him runner he is convinced he has super sperm Grin, this is mainly due to the ex being both on the pill supposably and a broken condom which he can't remember breaking but that's a whole different kettle of fish.

I've just asked him why we have to wait and he's convinced we will be in a different place then, that he will be in a different job (which I understand, he's had a hard time this year with work, a broken hand, and he had his ear bitten off, and we've just come out of a series of hep b and retrovirus jabs as a result of that, so he wants to wait longer till he's feeling 100% healthy and can be sure his immune system has recovered fully, the medicine has knocked him sideways, he's had the all clear but you have to still continue being tested etc for another 6 months, which would take us up to feb/march.) It's just frustrating as balls! He wants a safer job before getting pregnant. I want a baaaaaby! Grin

He doesn't cope when I cry either bergamot but I doubt tears would work here for me! Grin

Runner05 · 12/11/2015 16:47

Oh Stark that's not good Sad why don't you tell him that it's perfectly normal for it to take 6 months to a year conceive so you just want to get a head start. It's true and blokes tend to think the moment you try you'll get upduffed so it may give him some perspective.

Hope you manage to talk him round Biscuit

BergamotMouse · 12/11/2015 16:29

Starky - sorry to hear your DH is dragging his heels.

I went from DH refusing to discuss the matter at all to agreeing whole heartedly with starting to TTC immediately because after getting back from visiting my friend and her newborn baby I broke down in tears.

DH clearly can't deal with me crying so thought it easier to just agree. At least I know how to get my own way in future Wink (I am kidding in case you now all think I'm a manipulative bitch)

Sometimes they just need something to encourage them to see it from our point of view. Could writing him a heartfelt letter help? Or perhaps the only option is a piss stick up the bum!!!

StarkyTheDirewolf · 12/11/2015 16:14

I think I'm going to have to go to prison anyway as I'm going to murder Dh, "let's wait till May" was met with "why don't you go fuck yourself! " he's getting right on my tits with this now! I'm ovulating tomorrow, how the pissing balls does he go from Monday "let's go for it" to Thursday "let's give it 5 months!" I'm going to impale him on a sharpened piss stick! Right in his bum holey! I'm joking but I'm soo miffed right now!

BergamotMouse · 12/11/2015 16:08

Runner - I feel that most of my symptoms are entirely imagined. I've had mild stomach cramps for days now but I imagine they should only happen once implantation has occurred which would only be yesterday or today for me.

My skittle tits (love that term) started pretty much straight after ovulation so also doubt that would be a real symptom. I'm thinking that symptoms should really only start appearing now though so I'm desperately thinking 'hmm, maybe I feel a little sick' but I'm sure it's thinking about feeling sick that's making me feel sick.

Bad cramps are a definite good sign for you though. Fingers crossed. Though I think only a small percentage of women get implantation bleeding (I keep checking when I wipe hoping to see something).

It's mad isn't it - we wouldn't want any of these symptoms at any other point in our lives!
