TTC #1 coming off the pill in December - anyone else in the same boat?!

Hi,

I am going to be coming off the pill after ten years plus on it after my pack finishes in December. Excited but also terrified about what my body is going to do once I'm without all the hormones!

Anyone else doing the same roughly the same time?

Shelb x

(Hope this goes through struggling to post)

Sorry to hear that Lolly, hopefully once the Dr has more information they'll be able to come up with a way forward to help. Good that investigation is underway rather than just wondering every month why it's not happening.
Oh, and if that's not a good reason for cake and ice cream I don't know what is!

Morwenna1 · 07/10/2015 21:34

Sorry to hear about your results Lolly Flowers Like Runner said, put your faith in the doc's, I'm sure they will come up with solutions for you.

purplesmiler · 07/10/2015 16:13

Lolly- sorry to hear about your results I'm sure the Dr's will focus on supporting your TTC journey. I can imagine it is all that's on your mind. Take care hun x

Lolly90 · 07/10/2015 13:51

Hi runner
Thank you
Trying not to panic but it's hard when it's all I can think about. Trying to keep myself busy at work too. xx

Runner05 · 07/10/2015 12:25

It's horrible that the tests didn't give you good news but try and look on the bright side. The Dr's are now working to figure out what's wrong and once they have they will be able to come up with a way forward for you.

Don't panic yet, let the Dr's do their thing xxx

Lolly90 · 07/10/2015 12:07

Hi runner, been off the pill since December with no af. So started ttc anyway. But had some tests done at doctors and looks like there more problems than I even thought about so got to have more done next week. :( definitely not a good day today. Ate way to much cake and ice cream last night lol xx

Runner05 · 07/10/2015 11:24

That was supposed to say Shelb not shelf ??

Runner05 · 07/10/2015 11:23

Shelf - hi ?? Nice to know I'm not the only one that can't wait to start. I just downloaded The ovia app yesterday. I know there's no real point tracking yet but it makes me feel like I'm doing something. December seems like such a long way away!

Lolly - sorry about the bad news ??

Lolly90 · 07/10/2015 09:09

Thanks guys xx

Lolly90 · 06/10/2015 21:10

Doctors results = bad day. Ice cream and cake to follow :(

shelbTa · 06/10/2015 17:37

Hi Runner, Dr Why! You sound like you're in the same timeframes as me - coming off the pill / ttc late December, I can't wait either!

Purple - omg you have three days left, so exciting! Nah deffo keep an eye out for potential nursery!

Starky, bunch - you guys could be a bad influence buying stuff! I'm definitely going to get some stretch mark cream though and start whacking that on from now.

I have started looking at some of the other forums, antenatal health.....some of them are quite scary though so trying not to get too freaked out and enjoy the excitement of it all

Hey can I join?

With any luck we'll be ttc 1 when my pill runs out mid December. I'm way more excited about it than my oh but he has children from previous so been there and done that lol.

I've been on the pill for about 2 years and had been reading in the instructions that once I stop taking it I'd be able to get pregnant straight away but this seems to be different to what you guys are discussing which is a bit confusing.

I'd love to be able to start buying for the baby now as I'm ocd about preparation (reading everything I can, pinteresting like mad) but I think oh would think I'd lost it so waiting until actually pregnant. Wait is driving me crazy though. I'm litterally counting days!

DrWhy · 06/10/2015 12:13

Our plan is/was to start TTC in December but the work situation is a nightmare at the moment, I'm on a redundancy warning and DH is about to be. We'll find out if either of us have a a new job in the same company in November, but by then we'll be living in different countries until at least Chirstmas. Grr... I'm tempted to suggest I just stop the pill when I finish this pack - chances of me falling pregnant are minuscule but at least then I'd be almost through the pregnancy by the time I was made redundant and the package would be nearly equivalent to my maternity pay. But if the job doesn't come off and we start in late Dec when we are back together it would be nearly impossible to get a new job if I were laid off when I were visibly pregnant (but still months off maternity leave) - the whole blinking process until we both actually know the final outcome could be 8 months! I'm nearly 35 so don't have that much time to play with - but then don't want to rush into TTC if it isn't financially sensible.
This whole TTC decision is so tricky - I guess there is never a perfect time!

StarkyTheDirewolf · 06/10/2015 12:09

Grin bunch I'm kind of sorry not sorry because of all the fun I've decided you're having bidding! And all the "awwww so cute" moments!

Ooh purple that's so exciting!

I had such a weird dream about having a huge baby bump and needing stretch mark cream last night! Definitely think this TTC thing has permeated into my subconscious!

purplesmiler · 06/10/2015 09:33

My OH said to me last night, so as of Wednesday are we officially TTC then and I was like eeek it suddenly became even more real.

BunchOfBobs · 06/10/2015 09:02

Shelb you definitely are not the only one getting over excited!

I have started bidding on things on Ebay now ahem... I blame Starky.
DH says he's coming round to not waiting and TTC sooner...... eek!

I really don't know how to reign my excitement in. I'm now addicted to MN looking up absolutely everything I can- even birthing horror stores, just so I'm fully prepared.

Lolly90 · 05/10/2015 15:36

Just testing for everything I think. They took enough lol.
I always look at clothes and things while I'm out. OH has to drag me away and tells me to wait :( xx

purplesmiler · 05/10/2015 15:19

We are in the process of looking to buy a house, when we are browsing online I keep thinking that would make a lovely nursery people would probably think I am bonkers.

StarkyTheDirewolf · 05/10/2015 15:12

Ha-ha thanks bunch it just seemed like a good idea at the time, and I love to stockpile! I love Pinterest too! It's virtual hoarding without the clutter! Grin the way I'm looking at it is, if I buy super reduced stuff, the things like plain babygrows for 0-3 months might only get a few wears before they are grown out of, so if they were £1 then I've prematurely saved the other £5! Grin

BunchOfBobs · 05/10/2015 14:57

Amazing Starky I am so getting on that! I've pinned everything I can but I keep seeing bargain sling/wraps and cloth nappies on eBay..... Maybe he'll see the sense of getting then whilst they're available! You are a genius Smile

shelbTa · 05/10/2015 14:56

Hi Bunch! Loads of people on this thread now Grin

Lolly - that's good that they've got straight on with blood tests. Do you know what they are testing for, is it hormone levels?

Purple - yeah I'm thinking of reducing my hours but I don't know if my employer would go for it be honest. I'm in the private sector.

Starkly, bunch - I always look at baby names, I'm glad I'm not the only one getting over excited!

bunch I've already started crocheting baby blankets! And if we see babygros, hats etc severely reduced, we buy them and out them in a secret drawer! We saw a Moses basket in a charity shop while we were dropping stuff off the other week and had a debate on whether to buy it or not! And we haven't started TTC yet! (We decided not to on the grounds that it would be a pretty obvious purchase and we have nowhere bar the loft to store it spiders blergh and I wouldn't want it kept out in case it was spotted and assumptions were made by family members!
