TTC #1 coming off the pill in December - anyone else in the same boat?!

Hi,

I am going to be coming off the pill after ten years plus on it after my pack finishes in December. Excited but also terrified about what my body is going to do once I'm without all the hormones!

Anyone else doing the same roughly the same time?

Shelb x

(Hope this goes through struggling to post)

Morning Ladies,

Bunch- So excited for your TTC journey starting eeek! I have been off the pill for a few days now and my body seems to be ok so far. Having lots of fun trying put it that way hehe.

Lolly- I hope your appointment goes ok today take care hun.

Runner- The whole BP monitor thing was doomed from the start; the machine didnt work properly when it was set up and then half of the bits I was told I would have werent with it. Anyway it kept saying error at was trying to take my BP 3/4 times every 20 minutes. My arm was so bruised. I persevered (despite my OH insisting I take it off) but was woken every 50 minutes through the night with it doing the same. It got to 6am and it went back to doing it every 20 minutes over and over I just couldnt bear it so took it off. I have wrote a long note to the nurse and took the monitor back this morning. The receptionist said "you will probably get a call to have it done again" I thought grrrr!! Very frustrating and a bit of a rubbish start to the weekend.

Didnt let it spoil the rest though, had a great date night Saturday and bought a new sofa yesterday. Now starting to holiday plan as we go in under three weeks and Im so ready for it.

BunchOfBobs · 12/10/2015 08:19

Morning all.

How are you ladies getting to watch OBEM? I can't find it anywhere on sky to catch up nor is the series currently running.

Fingers crossed you hear something positive Lolly.

How was sleeping with the blood pressure monitor Purple?

Lolly90 · 12/10/2015 07:38

Ah I saw that the other night runner looks so calm and peaceful! Defo no shouting in that room lol.
I have now also started looking at wedding things to distract me but I have doctors again today so see what happens xx

Runner05 · 11/10/2015 23:15

OMG has anyone seen the episode of one born where the woman and her husband have a meticulous birth plan and they remain so calm and relaxed that the midwifes don't want to make a sound because it's all so peaceful? First time I've watched that show and wanted to cry when the baby was born it was so lovely.

I'm pretty sure I'll be anything but tranquil. I get cross when I'm in pain!!! Lol

shelbTa · 11/10/2015 10:12

Runner - it's ace isn't it! Glad you enjoyed it.

Bunch - how exciting! Thanksyeah he sounds ready - there is no way my DH would go anywhere near mothercare just yet!

Morning ladies, how are you today?

I had dreadful insomnia last night, absolutely shattered now.

Mentioned to OH last night that lots of my December buddies appeared to be starting early fishing he was unmoved lol.
Still I really do want to enjoy the Christmas party season so I suppose it's for the best.

Runner05 · 10/10/2015 19:30

Eeeeeee Bunch so excited for you!!!! Looking forward to some vicarious poas excitement! Grin

Went to toys'r'us today. I was desperate to fondle some prams and swoon over baby stuff but we has the Step troubles with us and we obviously don't want them to know yet.

OH did point out the prams during the 15second we had alone... Kids were desperate to inform us exactly what they wanted for Christmas Hmm

BunchOfBobs · 10/10/2015 19:16

Eek DH just agreed to TTC this month!!!! Can't stop smiling now. Must hide elation from the Inlaws! Ladies I highly suggest visiting newborns as clearly that's what happened today to turn him around .

We also went into Mothercare for a browse today and he volunteered comments on cot beds and car seats. I do believe his man is ready to be a Daddy!!

I've got 2 left to watch runner when I get home tomorrow. Looking forward to it after hearing everyone's comments.

Runner05 · 10/10/2015 19:08

Just watched the whole countdown to life series in one sitting. I was completely hooked from the start!

Thanks for suggesting it Smile

Runner05 · 10/10/2015 09:45

Mornin' ladies, how's it going today?

Purple did you get a good nights sleep?

Bunch I'm with you, apprentice fills the GBB void nicely. Although, now that apprentice is starting Christmas suddenly seems really near Confused

I really like the Ovia app. It's clear, easy to use, quite pretty and not quite as patronising or clinical as some of the others I looked at. Glad I chose it :-)

I'm going to have to watch this countdown to life show. Feeling left out lol Grin

BunchOfBobs · 09/10/2015 23:06

Evening all.
I've got a lot to catch up on, spent most of the day travelling to family. SIL has just had a baby so we're here to visit. Broodiness is going to be insane!!!

Cannot wait for Wednesday as I love the Apprentice, it'll help me with my GBBO withdrawal. I've just started to catch up on countdown to life. I'm so fascinated. DH is rather terrified by it though. Doesnt look like this month will be for us, he's ignoring all hints towards it pfft.

I hope you manage to get a good night sleep purple. It doesn't sound fun having your bp taken every 30 mins.

Caffeine and I aren't friends. Makes me ill so I gave it up 2 years ago now. Booze on the other hand is a tough one. In preparation for the (hopefully) inevitable giving it up once pregnant and being around family I tried to give it up for this month. I managed 2 weeks, first thing I do once we got to family today...... A drink. How will I ever manage to give it up then hide why I've done so?!

I haven't tried the Ovia app. Any old? In currently using fertility friend.

I get a weird groin twinge around ov time, though they say it can be from 2 days before to 2 days after so I don't know how good an indicator it is to go off.

runner I am loving the print on that pram!!

Runner05 · 09/10/2015 22:18

Obsessive looking at prams has come to a head... I have found the one I want!

www.pramworld.co.uk/cosatto-woop-free-car-seat-nightbird#.VhgtvZR4WrV

OH has grunted approval and informed me that we don't need one yet lol

Runner05 · 09/10/2015 21:09

Shelb that's definitely not a silly question. I had to look it up but the combined pill is supposed to stop you ovulating and if you do it makes it difficult for the sperm to get to it and for the egg to implant.
I do get ovulation symptoms nearly every month so no idea what that's about.

Hmm random baby cuddling. I'm pretty sure you can only really get away with that if your over 60 Confused

I finish my pill on 13th December :-) I'm finishing a week early so that I'm not hormonal at Christmas Grin how about the rest of you lovely ladies?

shelbTa · 09/10/2015 20:23

Hi,

Runner - take last pill on Friday 17 December! Thanks

Purple - I'm going to be doing the exact same slobbing when i get home!

Ok so - when you are on the pill do you not ovulate? That might be a dumb question.....

Currently sat opposite a baby on the train - do you think it would be acceptable behaviour to go over and give it a quick cuddle?! Grin

Sounds like a good idea Purple

We've got the step troubles this weekend so will be anything but relaxing. Although they're good kids there's a bit of an age gap so they get on each others nerves a bit. We used to joke that they would argue about what colour the sky is until we asked them... Now it's not a joke anymore!!!! Hmm

purplesmiler · 09/10/2015 16:52

Yippee the weekend is here works been stressful this week all I want to do is slob tonight lol which may be the best idea with the BP monitor on.

I haven't given anything specifically up while ttc, I do like my glass of wine (or 5) at the weekend and have cut that down a little. I think my pill withdrawal bleed is on its way there has been a bit of cramping today.

Runner05 · 09/10/2015 15:17

Hi Shelb could be ovulation, I don't think I've ever felt anything but lots of people describe weird pains and twinges so who knows Confused it is interesting though seeing the ovia predictions line up. I'm considering getting a ovulation kit for my first couple of cycles after the pill. Just to make sure everything's gone back to normal and get a good idea of when I ovulate.

shame you're going to have to wait until December but it's not long now. I'm trying to look at the wait as a last hurrah befor no more booze and at least there'll be lots of Christmas parties coming up to take your mind off it.

When is your last day on the pill?

shelbTa · 09/10/2015 14:43

Hi runner - yeah I use ovia, it's really good actually. Even though obvs everything is being controlled by the pill at the moment. But I deffo do get a pain (in groin, bizarrely) during the 'fertile' green bit - is that ovulation do you think?

Asked DH if I could come off pill earlier again last night. Got a 'no'! Confused

Starting to feel better now thanks :-) looking forward to a sniffy free day tomorrow!!

Lolly don't do it, being in jail will not help the baby plans!

Shelb I don't think you need to give things up until you're in your fertile window... Or that's what I gather from the just shagging thread. I knew it was going to be a killer to give up caffein though so I decided to do it early and get that one out the way. Wine and cider are going to be the last thing to go... I think my first fertile window will be just after xmas so no new year champagne for me :-(

Do any of you lovely ladies use the Ovia app? I've just started so that I can get into the habit.

shelbTa · 09/10/2015 13:27

Hi everyone,

I agree with runner - you are doing everything possible to bring it down purple, good luck hope it goes well.

Yeah I'm guna struggle giving up coffee! And wine for that matter....when do you have to give things up....is it when you are actually fertile and ttc?

Afternoon everyone. All ok? Sun is shining and it's a better day :). Catching up from convo last night- apprentice is awesome, one born makes me cry every time. Have you seen one called baby days? It's sooo good
Hope you feeling better runner? In trying my hardest not to kill the most annoying person at my work today :) xx

Runner05 · 09/10/2015 08:52

Good luck at the Dr Purple hope it all goes well. Try not to worry though, after all, if you've changed your diet and started exercising then you're doing everything in your power to control the situation.

I need to lose weight to :-( just don't seem to have the motivation at the moment. I have managed to give up caffein though :-)

purplesmiler · 09/10/2015 08:43

Morning all

Runner I am feeling good thank you as its Friday although in our office that can mean utter chaos but I am currently sitting at my desk enjoying the quiet time with a coffee.

I have a GP appointment after work, I have to be fitted with a blood pressure monitor for 24hrs as it has been quite high recently. Ive always been on the higher end of BP but since I moved back to my home town the Drs are keen to monitor it which is good. I am overweight so I know that doesnt help but I also get white coat syndrome when I know im having my bp taken it seems to make me anxious and increases. This monitor takes my bp every 30 minutes so sleeping tonight may be a challenge. I am aware that if I get pregnant I will probably be monitored even more so which again is good. I have made an effort to change my lifestyle i.e. eat better and regular swimming. I am trying really hard not to let it get me down as I am feeling really positive at the moment.

Runner05 · 09/10/2015 08:33

Morning ladies, sniffles mcsniffly here Confused how are you all today's?

Stark haha at Disney eyes... I'm probably going to regret saying this but every time I watch it I sit there thinking "that doesn't look as bad as I expected" granted before watching it I though it would look like a massacre scene Hmm
I have noticed that they completely skim over a lot of the gross stuff though and just show the pain before and miracle bit.

Dr sounds like a good plan re the job. like you say, in theory they can't discriminate but that doesn't mean it won't be in their heads when they choose a candidate.
Your partner sounds a little like mine. He already has two sprogs with his ex-wife and he informed me that he wasn't too fussed about the whole baby thing until after they'd been born, then he was excited. Men Wink

So, last night I was looking at prams again(shock horror) and had pretty much decided on a Malibu xl until I looked up customer reviews and saw they were all complaining about them breaking. One woman had the arm of the car seat break while she was carrying her baby in it!!! Cue nightmares all night about prams breaking and throwing my baby to the floor :-( think I'll be avoiding that one!!

DrWhy · 09/10/2015 04:30

Well I haven't started looking at baby stuff in shops yet but when discussing the possible move back to UK and housing we did end up deciding we'd have to make sure we bought in the catchment for a good school just in case!
We have decided to be sensible and wait until Dec to TTC though as if I were to get pregnant now I'd have no chance of a job in the internal rounds in Feb - in theory they can't discriminate but in reality 20+ weeks would be hard to hide and no-one wants to employ someone for a few months who's then going on leave for up to a year!
I can't persuade DH to watch one born every minute but 2 months after our wedding he's obsessed with don't tell the bride so maybe he'll be watching it through the newborn sleepless nights one day!
