TTC #1 coming off the pill in December - anyone else in the same boat?!

Hi,

I am going to be coming off the pill after ten years plus on it after my pack finishes in December. Excited but also terrified about what my body is going to do once I'm without all the hormones!

Anyone else doing the same roughly the same time?

Shelb x

(Hope this goes through struggling to post)

It's hump day!!! (Take that how you will)
Well that made me lol.

Ooh what brand did you get shelb my DM always said "start moisturising before you intend to stretch! Eat nuts and fish oils and don't forget to moisturise your hands, neck/décolletage (which I think is a fancy word for xleavage!) Because they're the areas that show your age!

I'll post a pic later of my finished cardigan! I'm quite unreasonably proud of it for a first attempt! My dgm taught me how to crochet/knit when I was small and I couldn't remember how so my DM showed me again a few weeks ago and now I've been finding patterns on YouTube to follow! It's so therapeutic! I love it!

Hi,

Thanks purple and stark, and hi everyone else!

Purple - that sounds like an interesting career. It's hard to say what I do without revealing as it's quite niche but it's in the private sector. Honestly? - I would never hire anyone to do this role part time / reduced hours, so I'm unsure as to whether or not the company will agree to reduced hours post-baby.

Ideally I'd like to go back four days a week - at least for the first six months to a year after my return. I guess you can only ask can't you? I hope so, as otherwise I think I'd have to realistically think about a short career break and find something proper part time.....

On a brighter note - I've just bought some max strength pregnancy stretch mark cream! Grin

Ooo your clever Stark my grandmother thought me to knit but the best I've ever managed is a lopsided scarf!

It's hump day!!! (Take that how you will Wink)

Morning Ladies,

Still full of cold but fully armed with lemsips and vicks so hopefully a better day.

Shelb- I work for a local authority with children who have complex health and disability needs. I have done it for over 7 years and do enjoy it but as with all jobs it has its challenges. I have given lots of thought to the whole going back to work scenario, its an even harder job to do part time but I am determined to make it work. Hopefully I will be able to job share with someone so that half the week I can be at home, child care costs are so high it wouldn't be worth me going back full time and I don't want to. Are you planning to reduce your hours?

Have a good day.

StarkyTheDirewolf · 13/10/2015 23:38

I'm not working at the moment, I had a very high stress/sales/performance related job and it broke me anxiety issues which is stressful, and which is what most worries me about TTC. I don't claim benefits/sick money because I didn't think I was entitled too. But I've recently found I can. We decided as a couple though that I would be a sahm if/when we have a baby. It's something I've always wanted and I suppose having a break from work has shown us just how tight money could be and how to budget, whereas before, money really wasn't any object.

Hope you're feeling better runner you're appetite coming back is a positive though I think, means you're on the mend. Flowers

How are you doing shelb?

(I'm crocheting a baby cardigan as we speak (as I type?l) so I'm looking forward to sending some out for our TTC babies when they come! Xx

shelbTa · 13/10/2015 21:54

Hey purple - easier said than done trying not to get stressed about work isn't it. Can you say what you do for a living without revealing too much?

I too have a stressful job and have literally been sat in bed for the past 30 mins wondering how the heck I'm going to do it post-baby. Do you worry about it? Does anyone else in our little gang worry about it? Confused

Love the image of you dancing around with your dog in a sling stark lol

purple hope you feel better soon. Having a cold on top of other stress sucks.

I'm still a bit rubbish after my run in with flu. I just want to laze about eating everything in sight which is not helpful when I'm trying to lose weight Hmm

purplesmiler · 13/10/2015 13:30

Hi everyone,

Work is so crazy busy at the minute I am trying not to get stressed but I can feel it creeping on me which is not great when TTC. My OH is trying so hard to make sure home is relaxed bless him.

I woke up a few times in the night due to a stinking cold, I am trying to keep it at bay with lemsips but I know I need more sleep. Everything seems to come at once.

Lolly- Hopefully now you have more of an idea whats going on you can considor the best way forward and continue your TTC journey.

StarkyTheDirewolf · 13/10/2015 13:10

Ha-ha runner we joke that my DH asked me to marry him because I'd started enquiring about the possibility of having a baby so he thought it might distract me for a while! it did we got married in May so he's had enough of a grace period without me mithering now!

bunch that's so exciting! We do that, we'll go "right shall we dtd without a condom" agree and then he gets the fear and goes "I'm just going to pop one on!" Grin

Sorry to hear that lolly but on the positive side, at least if you know what the issue is, there can be a resolution and a plan in place to overcome. If that makes sense.

I use the mydays app to chart when I'm on/off/ovulating and use the cheapy sticks from wilkos (3 sticks for a pound)

I want a sling! But I'd end up carrying the dog round in it to practice and my DH would probably leave me citing insanity!

How are we all today?

Lolly90 · 13/10/2015 13:06

Thanks guys trying to keep positive got more tests and scans booked so will find out more then.
Exciting everyone ttc though

Runner05 · 13/10/2015 12:54

I think that covers about all OHs although mine appears to be in resolved phase at the moment. Possibly because obsessing about getting pregnant is diverting me from obsessing about moving or getting married... Poor bloke puts up with a lot lol.

Runner05 · 13/10/2015 11:24

Hi Bee the more the merrier Smile

shelbTa · 13/10/2015 11:23

Ah sorry to hear that Lolly. I'm not entirely sure what that means treatment wise but I'm sure I've seen a few threads where it says it hasn't proved a barrier.

Bunch - omg omg omg!!!! I hear what you're saying about OH having a wobble - my DH was all 'yes can't wait for children blah blah blah' but now that the days are slowly counting down to coming off the pill, he is looking slightly more terrified every day!! Grin

Hi busybee - welcome!

Hi ladies, can I join in? Got married in April & TTC#1 from late Nov onwards. Came off the pill in July & cycles have been quite erratic (which was to be expected!!) xx

Runner05 · 13/10/2015 09:40

Aww, I'm sure he'll calm down bunch just try to keep baby making excitement to a minimum when you're around him. It seems to make men nervous lol

That sling sounds lovely :-)

BunchOfBobs · 13/10/2015 09:19

Sorry to hear that Lolly but as Runner says there are lots of treatments so it's not the end of the line.

Tmi alert potentially. Just noticed I have EWCM (1 week earlier than app predicted) and got a bit overexcited. Also gave my DH a guilt free out as he is bouncing between "yes let's do it" and "omg I'm not ready". Despite making the official decision he is still freaking. I've told him he can guilt free use a condom if he's not ready but that if we dtd it has an actual potential of a bfp (told him the 25% stats though). I felt if I didn't tell him I'd be sneaking and lying to him. Bless him he thanked me. So now I have to wait and see how he feels.

I'm a bit giddy with excitement now and have a really important meeting in 2 hours. Must reign it in!!!

The sling is a moss green colour. It's beautiful! Just need a baby to go in it now.

Runner05 · 13/10/2015 09:03

Sorry to hear that Lilly hope the Dr's wrong but if not then there's lots of treatments available to get round it.

Lolly90 · 13/10/2015 07:55

Morning everyone. Had some more tests done yesterday and got some more booked in but doctors think it's PCSO, so just got to wait and see. Hope everyone's ok ?? Xx

Runner05 · 12/10/2015 21:55

shelb I hope you're feeling ok after your op Flowers

bunch shh of course everything will go fine. None of us will take longer than 3 months to conceive and everything will go swimmingly Furiously knocking on wood
What colour's the sling?

Can't wait to go shopping. Might take my mum to look at prams this week... She has dimentia and is on her last legs bless her so I thought I may as well tell her we are going to try in case she kicks the bucket befor anything happens (sick sense of humour = coping mechanism Confused)

Just realised that my last pill is 2 months tomorrow Grin you and me Shelb for September babies Wink

BunchOfBobs · 12/10/2015 20:55

Ooh also I've officially bought my first baby related item- a moby sling. Couldn't resist on eBay as it was my favourite colour.

Out of the mouth of babes eh Runner!

BunchOfBobs · 12/10/2015 20:54

Purple that sounds awful! Your poor arm. Glad to hear you're feeling normal coming off the pill. I had a few months coming off the combined where I was on the mini pill. That made me feel awful. I was really dreading coming off them altogether remembering what periods were like pre pill. It was a dream. My pmt is relatively none existent and my periods are the lightest they've ever been. Just beed my cycles to get to a normal length and all will be dandy.

I too am very looking forward to our poas days and symptom spotting. FX it's straight forward for all of us.

Hope you're feeling okay after your op Shelb and Lolly hope the Drs went okay.

shelbTa · 12/10/2015 20:25

Hi,

Purple - that sounds like a right pain, no wonder you struggled with it. So you feel generally the same off the pill hey so far?

You and Bunch are proper cracking on eh - I wonder how long it will be before we hear a few 'are these symptoms?'. I hope so.

Lolly - good luck at the docs again. Do you know what the next step will be?

I've had a small op today to try and sort a niggling health issue out, trying to get all 'ducks in a row' before the 17 December.

Runner - we are only a week apart stopping our pills!

Runner05 · 12/10/2015 10:15

Good luck Lolly hope it's good news and squee at wedding stuff!

Bunch I'm using The More4 app to watch one born. They have loads of back eps on there.

Purple that sounds awful. Hopefully if you have to do it again you'll get a better machine.
Good news about your body behaving post pill though. We'll have to start a book on who will be the first BFP out of you and Bunch ;-)

I'm back at work today. No more sucky skiving for me. Desperately want to go back to bed.

Lolly90 · 12/10/2015 08:54

Thanks bunch and purple ??

Purple that doesn't sound much fun :(.
I was awake most of the night had very weird dreams about smurfs and gnomes! ?? Lol x
