TTC #1 coming off the pill in December - anyone else in the same boat?!

Hi,

I am going to be coming off the pill after ten years plus on it after my pack finishes in December. Excited but also terrified about what my body is going to do once I'm without all the hormones!

Anyone else doing the same roughly the same time?

Shelb x

(Hope this goes through struggling to post)

Hi all, looks like I've missed a lot over the weekend! We haven't told anyone we're TTC either. I don't quite think I can trust the one person I'd tell (at work) not to let it slip. She's already got a bet on when she thinks I'll announce a pregnancy.

I've just started charting my temp - have done 2 days worth but i think you need 3 hours uninterrupted sleep which I sometimes struggle to get. I woke up loads last night but wonder if it was because I was too aware about trying to get a good night sleep.
I might stop and just see what happens and start up again if we start to struggle.

I've been off the pill for about 3 years now just relying on condoms (as I didn't like the hormones) but DH voluntarily went without at the weekend (a good sign as he often changes the subject if I try to talk about TTC)!! AF is due in 2 days so no chance of getting pregnant but it still makes me happy!

Welcome Bug you at every much not alone in your "crazybess".

I completely agree with your OH also Runner. I haven't told anyone regarding TTC but I have a couple of friends that sound quite like yours. They're not signal but every conversation is very much their show. I doubt I will have a fun time telling them when we get a BFP but I won't worry myself about it, neither should you. Clearly they're not worthy of your confidence sharing such personal news. Just know you're a much better person than they are.

shelbTa · 19/10/2015 17:37

Hi Bug too!

Yeah runner I'd agree with your OH - possibly a hint of jealously too from your single friends? (and I don't say that as a smug settled down person as I was single for a long long time!)

Hey bug welcome! Don't worry, you're in good company of mental women who obsessively research ttc and talk about it all the time.

Over the past two years I've come to the conclusion that my OH is right too. Don't get me wrong he thinks my friends are nice people, he just also thinks they're rubbish friend Confused

In other news, I have cinema tickets for StarWars Grin

Lolly90 · 19/10/2015 16:17

Hi everyone, my weekend was ok got to finish work early which was nice then spent Sunday looking and wedding things :)))
Ohh purple that sounds exciting me and OH are currently looking at relocating too so been looking st lots of houses x

Bugmuncher · 19/10/2015 16:00

Hello everyone! Can I join too please? We are planning on TTC in Dec/Jan. I came off the pill at the end of September to try to give my body a few months to sort itself out. I wobble between feeling excited and terrified. We haven't told anyone we're going to start trying and I think my OH thinks I'm crazy that I've researched so much and keep talking about it before we actually have started!

Runner - I suspect your OH is right. There's no reason to just ignore something that's exciting for one of your good friends.

Runner05 · 19/10/2015 15:12

Need a bit of a rant. I have two best friends who I have told about ttc. Now to be fair to them both are in their 40s, have never been married and generally have no interest in long term committed relationships or having a family. Both swear blind that they never even want to live with a bloke.

Baring that in mind I have been there for them through every messy break up and emotional and physical drama they've been through for the past 10 years. I have always been there for them even when I'm bored to tears of listening to circular conversations about men who I wouldn't have given the time of day to begin with.

Now however, these are the only RL people I have to speak too but if I so much as mention something related to my partner or ttc I get complete radio silence or a complete change of subject. At first I thought I was just imagining it but it's been going on for too long now Sad

I probably shouldn't let it upset me. OH thinks that they subconsciously don't like hearing about me being happy because they're not. He also thinks they're not very good friends because they love hearing about your drama but the moment you ask for help they suddenly can't be contacted for love nore money.

It's just a bit sad.

Ok, rant and pity party for one over. Resume normality! Confused

LucyLou I'd just sneak a look at your new employers policies when you get started and go from there. I think you need to do 6 months continuas employment to get full benefits at most places but you get statutory pretty much straight away.

shelb I think your temp is supposed to follow a gentle curve most of the month with a spike at ovulation and implantation... It doesn't predict your ovulation as such but allows you to map when you ovulate over a couple of months so that you can see a pattern. Or at least that's how I understand it. I know Ovia uses the info to provide better predictions.

lucylou1234 · 19/10/2015 13:03

hi shelbTa :)

Im in care work :) I know what you mean about the mat leave thing i'm not sure what my new employers policy will be on it - ill need to have a sneaky look and see when i start.

just hate the thought of putting it off any longer im 30 and i have the worry at the back of my mind that it could take 2 years TTC and what if there is problems?

just want to fast forward 6 months lol

shelbTa · 19/10/2015 12:52

Hi everyone,

Purple - buying a house is so exciting! Have you heard anything back about your offer? How you finding being off the pill, it's not been that long now has it?

Hi Lucylou. What kind of work are you in? I ask as you'll not have been in your job long when you start TTC - I've only been with my employer 8 months and do feel a bit tight TTC and potentially going off on MAT so soon but time ain't standing still and I ain't getting any younger!

Runner - what is the deal with temperature, is it meant to go up when you ovulate??

well i have been off the pill since december but havn't started TTC - hold up was getting a new job but i should be starting my new one soon :)

once ive started ill wait a couple months to get settled the start TTC - WOO HOO!!!

I found coming off the pill fine - my periods seemed to have regulated fairly quickly though ive had spotting a couple of days before my last 2 periods which is strange :(

finding it really hard at the minute as people around me are getting pregnant and i wish it was me sooooo much :( BUT head ruling heart at the minute and i know that will be best in the long run x

Runner05 · 19/10/2015 12:24

Oh, and the thermometer only cost £4 so hardly breaking the bank Grin

Runner05 · 19/10/2015 12:23

bunch I was going to get sticks but having read all the posts on her where people were confused over whether the ovulated or not I thought temping was the way to go. After all, Ovia will work all the charting out for me and may even give an early indication of pregnancy. Fingers crossed Grin

BunchOfBobs · 19/10/2015 11:06

I had a busy weekend Lolly clearing up after the kitchen demolition carnage! How was yours?

Ooh I love house viewing/buying Purple this is the fun part anyhow! I too am having lots of fun TTC, though my DH is pretty much laughing at me at the amount in trying to jump him haha.

Runner I bought mine a few weeks ago...... Though I didn't get a thermometer, just early response tests and ov tests. I'm since learning that bbt is probably the way to go as poas for ovulation is hit or miss as to whether you'll catch your LH.

Shelb I'm nervous every time we Dtd, in a nice way though.

Runner05 · 19/10/2015 10:25

Purple how exciting on the baby and house front Smile hope they accept your offer.

We've got the estate agent coming tomorrow to value my flat. Excited!

Hi Lolly my weekend was m'eh, how about yours.

So I got a little bit excited this morning and bought a thermometer and some first response tests on eBay. I'm going to start temping in December just to get an idea of what my body's doing.

purplesmiler · 19/10/2015 08:45

Morning Ladies

Shelb-great news re stopping your pill. It is both exciting and a bit nervous DTD for the first time without contraception. A couple of weeks in nearly and I am enjoying TTC its great fun hehe.

I take the seven seas trying for a baby vitamins as they contain a few things including folic acid. I started there a couple of weeks before TTC.

Lolly- I had a good weekend thanks, we went to see a house and are putting in an offer this morning. It was lovely and we both felt homely straight away. Not getting too carried away as not willing to pay the asking price (way overpriced for the market) but we will see. I am always a heart rules the head kind of girl with these situations so I am trying to keep a step back if that makes sense.

Lolly90 · 19/10/2015 08:03

Morning everyone
I've missed loads!!
Everyone had a good weekend? Xx

Runner05 · 19/10/2015 06:58

Right, I shall get myself off to buy some pregnecare on Wednesday. I might not take them until November though.

Exciting news shelb only 5 weeks to go. Totally understandable that you're a bit nervous though. It's a big change but I'm sure you'll be fine.

I think my OH would be happy if it took us a few months to conceive. I've told him that it will probably take my body a couple of months to settle down but he's just looking forward to all the extra bedroom action lol

shelbTa · 18/10/2015 22:08

Yeah Ive taking them for about a month now - just checked, they are called Pregnacare Conception - same as bunch it seemsSmile

My last pill would be 18 November, hmmm, suddenly actually feeling very nervous! Hmm

Bunch - yeah probs best not to pay attention to us getting over excited to just be relaxed about it all hey, level head.

Shelb that's really exciting! What's your pill end date now? not jealous at all

bunch woohoo you may be the first of us to poas Grin don't forget to give us plenty of warning so that we can get the popcorn in Wink

I may be decorating more than a bathroom soon as OH and I are hopefully buying our first house together early next year. Woohoo! That means I get to decorate a nursery and my youngest step-troubles room Grin. The eldest step-trouble is coming to live with us and convinced he's going to choose the decor for the whole house Hmm Suddenly hoping for a girl so I'm not quite so outnumbered.

So shelb are you taking pregnecare before coming off the pill? I was thinking of popping into boots this week and picking up some ready totally wasn't planning on picking up some first response as well, just so I have them on hand

BunchOfBobs · 18/10/2015 20:52

It would be but I'm not letting myself think anything. I just can't see how I am, I'd only be a week so how can I have any symptoms and I have nothing other than the dizzy spells. I have a history of Labrynthitus (sp?) so I think it's more likely to be that. DH keeps smirking every time I have a dizzy spell though bless him.

shelbTa · 18/10/2015 20:41

Bunch that's exciting! (Potential BFP not dizzy spells)

BunchOfBobs · 18/10/2015 20:31

Hi all.

I definitely ovulated on the pill, not always but occasionally.
I get ov pain in my groin the same time I get EWCM But don't jobs if that before or after ovulation.

I saw a baby dust reference earlier today. I guess it's a nice thing wishing people BFPs but I find it cringe for some reason. I think it's along the same lines as baby daddy and baby gravy. Ew!

Glad to hear you're feeling better Runner. Please join me on the decorating route, bathrooms and kitchens are both equally hellish to do and I'm now down to a kettle and microwave for the next two weeks- I could do with a decorating buddy!! I'm taking pregnacare conception vitamins. I read mixed reviews on them regarding them being too big and tasting awful but I have no issues with them at all. Amazon was the cheapest place to get them.

I'm off booze at the mo just as DH thinks my dizzy spells I've had could be due to BFP. I definitely don't think so but would rather be safe. I think I may also go down the drinking during AF route.

Eek Shelb !! One month closer Grin

Anyone a Downton watcher?

shelbTa · 18/10/2015 20:27

*end of November not October, doh.

Also meant to put, vitamins - yes am taking the Pregnacare ones I think they are called, from boots
