TTC #1 coming off the pill in December - anyone else in the same boat?!

shelbTa · 28/09/2015 08:22

Hi,

I am going to be coming off the pill after ten years plus on it after my pack finishes in December. Excited but also terrified about what my body is going to do once I'm without all the hormones!

Anyone else doing the same roughly the same time?

Shelb x

(Hope this goes through struggling to post)

Eee Shelb not long now Grin it would be nice if we were all lucky and caught in the first couple of months but like you, I'm assuming it will take a while.
Let's just hope we're all pleasantly surprised.

It's nearly November, please tell me I'm not the only sado who has already started nearly finished the Christmas shopping?

shelbTa · 30/10/2015 12:03

Hi bunch hi runner!

Ah you guys are full onto TTC mode now hey! Runner Thanks on the two years.

Bunch - fingers cross AF doesn't show up. I'm guna try and be like you though as in assume it won't happen first month but would be a nice surprise / massive scary shock!!!.

14 days left on pill for me now!! Eeekkk!

Ouch, AF can be painful enough without any tearing!! Wink

Yeah but I ovulated really early this month and it had been two weeks since then when I tested. My cycle is all over the place so I could be due on today or as late as the 5th. It has been as short as 16 days in August too. But yeah, I'm wearing until the 5th now.

Runner05 · 30/10/2015 11:11

*rears... That auto correct sounded a bit wrong Hmm

Runner05 · 30/10/2015 11:10

Hmm... Well if you're not due until the fifth then poas a week ago would have been far to early so you're not out until the witch tears her ugly head.
Maybe wait and see, if you get to the fifth with nothing then I'd test again Smile

BunchOfBobs · 30/10/2015 11:03

He got a verbal clip that's for sure Runner.

Weeeeelllll..... HmmI have poas twice but a week ago. I've told myself not to do it again until the 5th but I don't feel pregnant. Headaches have gone, I only get dizzy when hungry now so all my "symptoms" I was imagining 2 weeks ago were just imagined. I doubt I'll need to poas stick again this cycle for that reason.

Runner05 · 30/10/2015 10:37

Lol Bunch how lovely of your OH to point out how emotional you are, I hope you gave him a clip round the ear Wink
Are you going to test or wait a while? I honestly don't know how you can hold yourself back, I'm quite sure that at the end of Nov I'll be peeing on everything!!! Blush

No plans for Halloween here. The kids are with their mum and we live on the third floor of a secure entrance apartment building so the chances of TorTers is minimal.

BunchOfBobs · 30/10/2015 10:17

Oh Runner that sound alike the perfect reason to get romantic hehe. Is your back and knee up to it though? I hope your feeling a little better, hot water bottles on the sore spots? Nervous adds to part of the fun. I've found it makes dtd feel like the early days as I'm nervous again- though for different reasons. I hope your whiplash doesn't hold
You back from ttc this month. Fx for you.

I've been a bit "emotionally ubstable" according to DH the last few days. I take that to mean I've been a snappy bitch ha. AF due any day from today until the 5th, going off previous cycles. Moods would suggest soon.

I'm trying to prepare myself not to be too disappointed with the arrival of AF as although we started trying this month, DH has been bouncing about with his keenness and we almost entirely avoided dtd over the fertile period. Nm eh! There's always next month.

Anyone have plans for Halloween? I'm pumpkin carving today so the local kids know we're TorT friendly.

Runner05 · 30/10/2015 08:16

Morning all, how are you today?

I'm still off work and sitting around feeling a bit sorry for myself. I do have my laptop at home though so I might log in and show willing later.

So the witch has left the building here and I'm suddenly very nervous. After being so impatient to get started I'm now bricking it slightly Confused still couldn't start on a better day, it's two years today since OH and I met Grin

Deborah89 · 30/10/2015 00:47

Ni thanks for that site it is really useful. I have been doing lots of reading up on the falling after cerezette and there is s huge range do I think it is the same as. It being on it - you fall when Mother Nature decides to let you. Xx

Pinklily1 · 29/10/2015 20:26

Sarah - we aren't even engaged yet unfortunately, but we had said we wanted to be engaged before announcing a pregnancy, so he best hurry up with a ring! For various reasons, once we get engaged we will get married pretty quickly (not really one for a massive wedding - I hate being the centre of attention), so its possible if he gets himself in gear (and depending how long it take for us to get pregnant), that we may get married before a baby actually arrives. We'll wait and see!

Miss - did you say you got the tests on Amazon? Which ones were they?

I've very happy today as AF finally arrived on CD 37. I was getting worried that it was going to take ages. I don't think i've ever been so happy to get my period. Give it a few months and I'll be dreading it!

SarahLou89xx · 29/10/2015 17:44

Evening all

Thanks Runner I do hope I am pregnant by the wedding!

Hi pinklily yes I am in England, West Midlands. We are getting married in the Cotswolds, hopefully the weather will be ice for us as we are having an outdoor ceremony. The ladies doing my dress were so great with my dress it was her suggestion to get it bigger just incase. Have you made any wedding plans yet?

Sarah x

MissClarke86 · 29/10/2015 17:21

Ni4444 I'm the same, first month off the pill, no real period yet but desperate to test just in case! I'm going to do one when the cheapy ones arrive tomorrow just on the off chance...! (Apparently they're just as good as the first response ones because they test for the same concentration of hormone, according to others on here - and I think I've got 10 for about £5.)

Its highly unlikely I'd catch so soon though so I'm actually hoping for a period just so I can start to monitor my cycle. I don't like not knowing what's going on in there!

I saw my mum today and blurted out that I'd stopped taking the pill! I've sworn her to secrecy though because OH doesn't want us to tell anyone. I wasn't going to say anything but I was desperate to talk about it with someone!!

Then we spent a happy hour shopping for a present for my friends 1 year old daughter...daring to dream it might be me one day!

Ni4444 · 29/10/2015 13:41

Purple do you have room in your case for extras?! A break from work would be soo nice! Wink I'm so jealous of my teacher friends this week!!

Runner I can't believe what bad luck that was! You poor thing! Although...at least it happening before conception means you can still take all those nice painkillers I guess! Take it easy and get that body rested and strong for carrying a little bump!

Ah so you guys do have stockpiles!! I never thought of doing that! I'm gonna go with first response as they seem to be the most accurate for early results.. And technically my cycle could do anything this month as it's the first month off the pill! (yasmin/Lucette deborah so I don't know much about cerazette reactions)

I found this site about supplements and nutrients that can help coming off the pill symptoms /conceiving. Interesting stuff about maca goingoffthepill.org/going-off-the-pill-side-effects/

I half think I'm being ridiculous thinking I might get a positive...would almost like to test without telling the OH in case he thinks I'm seriously losing the plot.. But if it's good news I want him to be part of the moment!!! Oh the not knowing!!!!! Confused

...plus...if it's a no I can start popping some pills to manage these headaches!! I'm being over cautious and not even taking paracetamol!

BunchOfBobs · 29/10/2015 13:01

Deborah you may want to start a thread to see if anyone else has been in your situation and had a quick fall, or ask the god of Google? I was only on Cerezette for a few months after 10 years on Yasmin. Cerezette was awful for and I've been off it for 6 months. Only started TTC this month but DH pretty much hid from me when I was in my fertile window. I very much doubt I'll be getting a bfp this month for that reason.

As it can take a while for our cycles to go back to normal after years on the pill it can be a good idea to come off the pill in advance. Mine still haven't gone back to normal. I've had 16 days cycles and 33 day cycles, currently on cd 27 so we'll see what this month holds.

I think we're all in the same boat wanting to get bfps our first months of TTC. I'm still holding out for a November bfp but I'd be surprised if I got a 2015 bfp. Both our parents had fertility issues but I remain hopeful. Just need to get DH a bit less freaked out and more in the mood hehe.

Pinklily1 · 29/10/2015 13:00

There appear to be a fair few of us wanting to bring TTC forward! I really need to work on my OH!

Runner - are you feeling any better?

Purple - are you off for a sunshine holiday to escape this miserable weather?!

Sarah - thats brilliant that you can just order a bigger dress and they can then alter it to fit. I'm hoping we'll get married either when I'm pregnant or shortly after, so its good to know. Are you getting married in this country (am assuming we are all in the UK!)

Deborah89 · 29/10/2015 12:21

Thanks purple and bergamot, we aren't starting to try until after Christmas but wanted to know if I can expect a quick fall.

I had been on various contraception without having a period for 11years of which the first 2 and last 5 were cerezette. I had my first AF 24 days after coming off the pill and lasted 7 days so will see in 3 weeks if I'm regular or not.

Desperately want to start trying now though, need to convince OH to start trying early! Xx

purplesmiler · 29/10/2015 10:32

Deborah I'm only on week 3 of being off cerazette. Have noticed more tenderness with my boobs and some light cramping but otherwise it's been fine. Have to say not expecting to fall pregnant so quickly but if I did it would be a pleasent suprise.

BergamotMouse · 29/10/2015 10:21

Deborah - probably not very helpful but I was on cerazette and came off it a couple of years ago after suddenly decided I didn't want hormonal contraception. No experience of falling pregnant but my cycles went back to normal straight away (and I'd been on various contraception for about 9 years without a break).

Deborah89 · 29/10/2015 10:17

Oooo good luck Ni, fingers crossed for that BFP.

I bought some cheap ones in Savers and thought when we Ttc and they show a positive I will then only need to buy one expensive one to be certain rather than buy lots of expensive ones and get negatives.

It's half term for me but have been busy planning, marking and assessing work so am determined to have the weekend off to chill.

Does anyone have any experiences or know of anyone coming of cerezette (desogestrel) and falling quickly? Xx

Runner05 · 29/10/2015 10:13

Hello any newbies that I've missed. Wow it's getting busy in here Grin

Sarah ordering your wedding dress, so exciting! Will keep Fx that you don't need to take it in.

Miss I think the general consensus is that most men will never be as excited / anxious / impatient about ttc as we women are so it's usually best to let them snore and not except much from them until you're actually pregnant Wink

Shelb my whiplash is in my back but it was caused by hitting my knee... I'm pretty sure that's a trick that only I could manage Hmm

Ni So excited you're testing at the weekend. I shall keep my everything crossed for you!!! except my legs, that would somewhat defeat the object of being here Shock

Purple enjoy your break Smile

The draw of my bedside table is pretty much full of pregnancy tests and vitamins. I may have overdone the be prepared thing as I've got first response, clear blue and a digi. Although the digi is just to do after I get a positive so that I can wave the actual words "pregnant" at OH. I'm sure he won't believe it until I do.

According to my app my withdraw bleed should end tomorrow. It's felt like the longest AF ever!!! I keep reminding myself that we're not trying this month but I think as the chances of us getting pregnant first try are pretty slim we're probably going to risk it. After all, I'm not really that fussed about alcohol. Halloween Grin

purplesmiler · 29/10/2015 08:55

Morning ladies and welcome to the newbies!

Shelb-I finished work yesterday so am now on leave, just having a couple of days seeing family and pottering about as we go away on Saturday. Its nice to have the time to sit and catch up with the posts with a cuppa. Hope today is less stressful for you, the last few days have been crazy for me too at work so I am already feeling relaxed today.

Having lots of fun TTC hopefully the sunshine will help move things forward too.

BergamotMouse · 29/10/2015 08:05

I've got my fingers crossed for you Ni. I wouldn't want to test on a work day either - wouldn't get anything done at work if positive.

I have a drawer full of them which I bought a few years ago. Found that due to irregular periods I often needed to test and kept wasting money on expensive shop ones - just got a load of cheap ones from Amazon.

Problem is they have an expiry date in November so I better get started!

Ni4444 · 29/10/2015 07:43

Hi Deborah missclarke sarahlou Smile

Do you all have drawers full of pregnancy tests ladies?! I don't have the willpower to have them around...I'm sure I'd be testing already! I think I've decided I'm gonna buy one and test Saturday morning though. I've been feeling so weird (the headaches and abdom pain continue) I am a little hopeful. AF due Mon but I reckon if it doesn't arrive I don't want to be testing on a work morning then having to switch off when I get into work! Only 2 days early so tests should be accurate then. There will be plenty wine Saturday night if it's negative!!Wine

shelbTa · 29/10/2015 07:34

Hi new joiners!

Runner - blimey whiplash in your knee? Yeah take it easy, knees can be tricky can't they.

Purple - aren't you off on hols soon, how are things going?

Bunch- the ears are ace! High fives to the knitting everyone, well done.

Well I did a 16 hour day yesterday, I was moaning on about it to anyone who would listen, obvs and then I thought - shi* this is going to be how tired I am post baby for a long long time! Hmm
