TTC #1 coming off the pill in December - anyone else in the same boat?!

shelbTa · 28/09/2015 08:22

Hi,

I am going to be coming off the pill after ten years plus on it after my pack finishes in December. Excited but also terrified about what my body is going to do once I'm without all the hormones!

Anyone else doing the same roughly the same time?

Shelb x

(Hope this goes through struggling to post)

Yep, Bellowhead are a folk band. I've never really managed to like "cool" music Wink

Pink I am in awe of your marathon running. I can just about managed to run/walk 5k. Best I've managed is cross country walk of 25miles (there was a pub at the start and finish line, I feel the organisers knew how to motivate people)
Hey and losing 6st through running is amazing!!!

I honestly hope that we all get upduffed so quickly that none of us have time to lose the extra lbs Wink

leoniethelioness · 02/11/2015 21:51

Wow, Pink - any tips?! I just struggled to run/walk 2.5 km on the treadmill... Blush I'm hoping to be able to run 5 km by the end of the year in a respectable time. That seems like a massive challenge right now! Well done you on the marathons!

leoniethelioness · 02/11/2015 21:48

I'm trying to get fitter too by the end of the year. New gym membership and trying to eat a bit better. I mostly manage it in the week but weekends are another story... Leftover Halloween chocolates, wine and Kettle crisps were my downfall at the weekend! Giving up alcohol after our winter sun holiday next month so that'll help my waistline! I'm 9 lb overweight at the moment and want to get back to where I was when I got married, which was a stone lighter than I am now. Shock I really just need to cut out snacking and caramel lattes on my way to work...

Hoping to be much closer to my ideal weight by the time I'm pregnant. I have read you can do Slimming World while pregnant so I might try following that if the general healthy eating no snacking plan falls down!

How were your Mondays?

Pinklily1 · 02/11/2015 21:24

Unfortunately more than one, I love the actual race, it's just the training that's really time consuming. Definitely won't be happening when there are babies. I used to be over 6 stone heavier and running helped me lose the flab!

shelbTa · 02/11/2015 21:06

Thanks guys.

Wow pink - you've done a marathon??

Shelb - still only 11 days to go - that'll fly by!

Bunch - very pleased you don't have to get up at 4am every day.

I have to confess I hadn't heard of Bellowhead either, but my taste in music is awful so it doesn't say much!

I think i'm the only person in the world to have put on weight marathon training (free pass to eat whatever you want!), so now the last one is out the way for a while (while the baby making is taking place!), i'm getting back into the gym to try and lose a few pounds. I'd love to think when the time comes I will have a nice neat bump but in reality I'll probably balloon!

Ni4444 · 02/11/2015 19:52

I'd never heard of them Runner-had to Google! They're a folk band?

Runner05 · 02/11/2015 19:40

Shelb sounds like you're making the best choice for you try and enjoy how exciting it is knowing you've only got a few days left Smile

Harriet I think most men have issues with the idea of starting to ttc. I'd tell him the date you want to come off the pill and leave it at that.

just realised that the end of my tww will be the weekend I go to see Bellowhead. If there's even a remote chance I'm upduffed I shall have to poas before I go Wink

harrietm87 · 02/11/2015 18:31

Exciting runner!! Good luck to you and all who are trying.
I had another chat about it with OH at the weekend. We've got a holiday in March and he has some stressful work stuff round then so he said he didn't want me to be feeling ill with morning sickness then. I kind of agree but also don't want to push it back for another 3 months! Obv this is assuming we would succeed first time which I appreciate is very unlikely. I also think jan is a good time to start because I could say I'm detoxing after Xmas hence no booze...I've clearly overthought this!

Ni4444 · 02/11/2015 15:56

Pate bunch!!! How could I have forgotten about pate!!! Grin

Sounds like a plan Shelb. Enjoy the control over AF while you can!!

Ps...don't get me wrong ladies I could lose more than 7lbs but I don't believe in unachievable or unsustainable goals!!! this girl likes her food too much Wink

shelbTa · 02/11/2015 15:36

This chat is making me really hungry!!!

Made decision to stick it out until end of packet - only reason being I get cracking headaches during AF and I've got a huge day long meeting middle of next week, which I could not handle with a headache. Excitement over.....#11daystogo

Mmm... Rare meat and cider are going to be my problems, blue cheese too... Not liking the pregnancy food menu Sad

wish I only had 5lb to lose, more like 3st!

StarkyTheDirewolf · 02/11/2015 14:19

shelb you don't sound like an alcoholic! I love wine and gin too, I decided to stop drinking as much as I was because I think it was interfering with my sleep! Gin and bitter lemon is amazing! I had half a glass of rose wine last night with tea and was all warm and fuzzy!

shelbTa · 02/11/2015 14:06

I know this is going to make me sound like an alcoholic but im really really going to miss the wine and the gin!! I bloody love white wine and I love a Bombay sapphire. The world is a better place after a Friday night tipple.

Omg Shelb that just made my mouth water.

Rare meat fondue!! Mega yum!

I really dread can't wait for pregnancy cravings Confused__

shelbTa · 02/11/2015 13:52

I'm trying to lose about 5lbs, to be at ideal weight before preggo lbs pile on.

Haha, yeah, dunk a raw steak in some melted Brie ni!

BunchOfBobs · 02/11/2015 13:52

Haha Ni you sound just like me!

I've told DH once AF arrives I'm eating Pate, Brie, cold Prawns in Marie Rose sauce, runny eggs and drinking rum, lots of spiced rum. It makes AF not such a bitch, there is a good side to her arrival.

Ni4444 · 02/11/2015 13:37

I'm the same bunch. I'm about 7lbs over what I'd like to be. Not great to start a pregnancy already overweight! This has given me a good push though so have resisted snacking a lot this month and have lost a few lbs. Can't be bothered to exercise though...so dark and cold. I think I'm going to try to get into yoga as that is something I can keep up when pregnant.

Speaking of food, I was looking at all the foods you're not supposed to eat while pregnant. When AF arrives I'm gonna gorge on some brie, some soft scrambled eggs and a nice pink steak!! Maybe I'll have a g&t too!

shelbTa · 02/11/2015 13:31

Thanks ni

You never know bunch do you I guess, my friends have been on average two months of trying (after stopping the pill). Good effort on the getting fit, three times a week is serious!!!!

BunchOfBobs · 02/11/2015 13:17

Officially it's our first month but we didn't use protection at the end of September, though I knew I'd already ovulated so it wasn't on the cards.

I doubt I'll get caught before the end of the year but you never know. It definitely happens. I have a cousin who fell the first time she ever had sex!!

Trying to get back on the healthy wagon. I was amazingly good before our holiday in August but since I've been a slob. Just back from my first gym session in a month. Trying to get back to my usual routine of 3 times a week but we'll see. DH away for the week which means I usually resort to comfort naughty food. Not this week. A healthy body is a healthy pregnancy and it's the best prep I can do. So I kept telling myself on the cross trainer today. How long until I hit the chocolate or gooey cheese??!!

Ni4444 · 02/11/2015 13:07

Shelb I finished the packet. Just because I felt I was starting afresh then from day 1 of my cycle and thought I could predict ovulation and AF right from the start then.

Bunch, my other half thought I was being a mad, hysterical woman testing (he didn't say that, but that's what he was thinking!). He reckons it'll take us up to 6 months...I'm like "not if I have anything to do with it"! Grin Plus I read the thread about those who did conceive on the first month. It can happen! This is your first month, right?

BergamotMouse · 02/11/2015 11:30

I think I stopped mid pack shelb (all those years ago) and can't remember any issues. I didn't know there was any difference with when you stop. I'd say go for it.

I think I'm ovulating today so going to jump on DH after work. I still can't quite get my head around that we're TTC!

shelbTa · 02/11/2015 11:13

Haha, no you've all been really helpful, thanks.

OH is starting to glaze over when I talk about it so it's great to have you've guys to ask.

Pink it was me with the 4am testing . You'll be happy to know I just woke up needing a wee haha. Im usually a 6.30 riser. It's one of my potential imagined symptoms. I've been waking up in the night for a wee for a couple of weeks when normally I don't need to.

Told DH about this morning drama (he's away for the week). Bless him he just kept asking if I was okay if it got my hopes up. I told him I was just fcked off at the tests.

Shelb* I also came off the pill mid packet. I say go for it Wink we're not helping are we?!

Pinklily1 · 02/11/2015 10:51

Shelb - not sure if this is what you want to hear, but I'm giving you an excuse to stop early - I stopped mid pack, had withdrawal bleed, 37 day cycle and am now on day 5 of AF. No side effects from stopping early and although 37 days is longer than usual for my cycle (from what I can remember!) it's not too bad. I'd say stop now if you can get OH to agree to it!!

Ni - 4am testing?! Please tell me you just needed a wee then and that's not the time you usually get up?!
