TTC #1 coming off the pill in December - anyone else in the same boat?!

shelbTa · 28/09/2015 08:22

Hi,

I am going to be coming off the pill after ten years plus on it after my pack finishes in December. Excited but also terrified about what my body is going to do once I'm without all the hormones!

Anyone else doing the same roughly the same time?

Shelb x

(Hope this goes through struggling to post)

If it makes you feel any better, DH pussied out yesterday ha-ha! For want of a better word! He losyt his nerve and decided last night was not the night to start actively TTC +-he's such a giant fanny sometimes!-- Grin

StarkyTheDirewolf · 05/11/2015 12:25

I've done it myself bunch its an emotional rollercoaster cause there's the little tummy flip of "oh my..is it..am I?!" Then all day working yourself up and then doing it the next day and not a sausage, I didn't want to be a negative Nancy! Stupid test though!! How rude of it!

BunchOfBobs · 05/11/2015 12:14

Thanks Starky that's what I need.

I may have been silly and pothe other stick. Stupid dud test, no control line even. Thankfully that's just completely calmed me down.

StarkyTheDirewolf · 05/11/2015 12:07

I'm not sure, I think evap line, but I could be wrong! Definitely wait till tomorrow bunch put it out of your mind and do it tomorrow when all of your hormones will have had time to season overnight I am being the voice of calm here or you will work yourself up! Tomorrow will be more exciting!!

BunchOfBobs · 05/11/2015 11:43

Haha shelb it's nice to know I'm not in on it alone. The packaging says I can test anytime of the day. I have another of the same tests upstairs. I could take it but I do think I'm better off waiting until tomorrow morning. DH not here anyway so what's one extra day?

shelbTa · 05/11/2015 11:42

I can see something, but wouldn't know if it's an evap. I feel sick and it isn't even me!!! Arrg!!! You are right to calm it and assume negative though, based on their results secretly makes up own guidance notes

I can't photograph it very well. I don't know if this shows it more

Darn you ladies, first smile popped out and i'm trying so hard to not get my hopes up. Photo attached, it's more visible IRL. I'm a peppermint tea addict I've drank loads. I'm going to await until tomorrow. But omg!!

I've read up on them, anything after the allotted time is almost guaranteed Evap line, sometimes even with colour. Must.not.get.excited!!

StarkyTheDirewolf · 05/11/2015 11:24

bunch sorry but that's exciting! Put it out of your head though, or you will drive yourself nuts. Show us a pic. Evap lines mess with your head!

BergamotMouse · 05/11/2015 11:24

How exciting for you Bunch. I think the only thing you can do is test tomorrow. Or if you have lots of tests lying around don't drink much and test this afternoon. But I've heard that a coloured line is a positive. Do you have a photo?

shelbTa · 05/11/2015 11:23

Holy *hit bunch!!!!! Would you be comfortable posting a picture so we could 'analyse'?? Person who doesn't know bunch needs to calm down

Ladies talk me down. Did another test (Tesco own brand) as I still had this mornings pee reserved. Saw the control line pop up and nothing else so binned it (before the allotted time- idiot I know). Went back upstairs half hour later and decided to take it out the bin so DH didn't see it and spotted (what is most likely and I know it) an Evap line. Thing is it's blue..... Evap lines are supposed to be colourless...

I need to calm down forget it and test again tomorrow.

Talk me down please. I can't get over excited about this. Aaaahhh why did I flush the wee??!!!!!

BunchOfBobs · 05/11/2015 10:05

BFN here, and no sign of AF, damn body. Bergamot I've given up on OPK's it has to be darker to be positive for LH surge, as we have LH in our bodies throughout our cycle. Thing is you can easily miss the surge by not testing at the precise moment in the day. It's just too unreliable for my nerves to continue with ha.

I had lots of Biblical names i adored but now they're just too popular for me, I'm big on not choosing a name in the top 300. Elijah and Evelyn have been my favorites for years until they jumped up the popularity rankings last year. I'm weird like that and can't do with a popular name. My top choices at the moment are out of the top 300 and some past 1000 Hmm. Starky I'd love for you to elaborate on "odd" names Grin.

BergamotMouse · 05/11/2015 08:48

Morning all,

We're DTD every other day Pink and it's bloody exhausting!! And I think DH might start to feel a little like a sperm donor soon haha!

I think I'll tell only my parents before 12 weeks but I don't know how. I get really embarrassed telling big news, I found it very difficult to tell them when we got engaged (even though I knew they'd be thrilled).

I'm using OPK sticks and temping but my temps seem a bit all over the place.

Do you guys think the test on the left (yesterday's) is positive (today's negative is there for comparison). It's meant to be darker which I don't think it is but surely the fact that it's almost there is good enough?? If I did ovulate yesterday does anyone know when my temp should go up?

I find it all really confusing and feel like we should just take a more relaxed approach but I like to have something to control with all the uncertainty.

Just typed a long message and lost it. Grr

I think that when our time comes I'm gong to adopt your approach Miss and not tell OH when it's fertile time, I think that would freak him out. He rather just DTD merrily and then hey presto, I'll be telling him I'm pregnant. Don't think he's that fussed with the other details.

For those who are actively TTC now, how often are you DTD? We are twice a weekers at the minute as OH has a long commute to and from work and is too tired during the week. That's going to have to change!

Any news from the test Bunch?!

shelbTa · 05/11/2015 08:21

Morning ladies.

Runner so you're ovulating proper? ThanksCan't remember if I've asked you (sorry if I have) but are you using the little sticks? I bought some ages ago, think I prob will.

Bunch - yeah I've heard FR are the best. Everything crossed.

Good luck all of you who've started! I don't think I have any hope of persuading OH any earlier than in the new year. I'm not planning on announcing it in a special way but will definitely tell parents as soon as we know. My cousin didn't tell her mum until after 12 weeks and my mum was ranting about how awful that was!
Actually seeing my mum soppy over my cousin's baby made me realise how much she wants a grandchild! I can't wait to give her the news :)

BunchOfBobs · 05/11/2015 07:38

Morning all,

Well I'm on cd34 and still no AF though she may arrive today, what day are you on now Ni ? It's also not definatley a no hnt AF arrives, you tested last night, you're best to test with first morning pee. Mine is currently sat in the bathroom getting to room temperature , as the cheapo tests request.
I was reading a thread last night about people who found out late about being pregnant. One woman got negative hpts until she was 8 weeks gone!! If I'm still witch less and getting negative tests at the weekend I will get a FR test, they're supposed to be the most sensitive.
Men eh Miss? My DH is all over the place with his decisions, he's quite happy that AF is late at the mo but when it comes to discussion about not using protection or how often we need to dad he panics and wants to wait, then doesn't use protection. No idea what goes through those brains of theirs.

Runner05 · 05/11/2015 07:16

Oops! Just checked in actually cd 12 not 10 so I suppose that's only predicting ovulation 2 days earlier than average.

Miss that sounds about right. I do something similar with my OH. I track religiously but don't tell OH when I think I'm fertile and he's happier not knowing Wink

MissClarke86 · 05/11/2015 07:07

Also....I'm still waiting for my period after stopping the pill (4 weeks ago) so still have no idea if my body is actually playing the game. It's frustrating as I want to know exactly where in my cycle I am!

MissClarke86 · 05/11/2015 07:05

Men are funny things aren't they!?

Mine originally mentioned stopping the pill, hence me getting a bit overexcited and wanting to try lots straight away.

Last week he said "I want to wait until after Christmas" so I reluctantly agreed...but this week we've been DTD and when I've reached for protection, he's said not to bother.

His words were "I'm happy not to use condoms, I just felt like a sperm donor last week!" And since then he's been all over me.

I can't win....! I sortve get what he means about feeling 'used', so my plan is to monitor my fertility without telling him and keep to our normal 'routine' with DTD the rest of the time, then when I'm fertile jump him more and he wont realise why and will just think I'm a bit more up for it lol

No wonder women have a reputation for being manipulative Wink

Runner05 · 05/11/2015 07:03

Morning ladies, how are you all today?

Lol Stark well done on the brow beating and welcome to the getting a head start club Wink oh, and thanks for the crochet advice. I'm not sure whether I actually will as there are so many things I should be doing but I really do want to give it a go.

So, I'm a bit confused today. Ovia has been predicting my fertile phase as starting today ever since I started recording, then today a message pops up to tell me that based on the data I've entered my fertile phase started Monday Confused has anyone else had Ovia change its prediction so much? I'm on cd10 and its predicting that I'm at peak fertility today which I assume means it's expecting me to ovulate today, that seems a bit early.
I assume the change is based on my temping data but I have no ewcm (egg white cervical mucus) (tmi) to back it up which makes me think it may be wrong... Freaking out a bit as I'd mentally prepared myself for my fertile period to start today and lasting across the weekend. thank goodness I jumped OH last night

StarkyTheDirewolf · 05/11/2015 01:12

Ha-ha awww runner you go get him! Bone like you mean it! (Honestly never thought I'd write that sentence!) Grin

I can recommend getting a number 4 hook and standard wool, a #4 is easier to use when you're getting started, and YouTube BellaCoco for tutorials, she's a gudden!

I actually think I've potentially successfully browbeaten DH into starting early! How i did it I'm not sure! A couple of people we know have recently had babies so I've just been dropping in "well if XXX and XXX can have a baby, I don't see why WE can't!" So I'd recommend using that line! I don't know if its because I've subconsciously tapped into some kind of male Tarzan must reproduce gene trapped deep into his mind or oif he's just bored of listening to me but either way! Win win! Grin

Runner05 · 05/11/2015 00:27

Blimey, I walk out of the thread for a day and 2 pages appear. I can't keep up! Lol

Woohoo to everyone who has battered their poor OH into stating ttc early.

Poop to BFN Ni but you aren't out until the witch arrives.

Hi secret welcome to the group. Glad you're so excited Grin

Stark I think you should seriously consider murdering that photographer... Or at least hiding pilchards in his house somewhere, I believe behind the radiator is a prime position Wink

I'm going to be drinking in moderation while ttc. During the first few weeks the embryo is nourished by a yolk sack so no nutrients are passed from you to it. I think the problem is that there's no way of knowing when that changes. Still, we could be trying for months or years and I don't want to put my life on hold until I'm actually upduffed.

Speaking of upduffed, fertile week has finally arrived!! Yay!!! Grin

What has also arrived is my bump to birthday journal and it's lovely! If anyone is thinking of getting a pregnancy keepsake journal I would highly recommend it.

Am I the only one planning to buy everything new? I know that it's kind of a waste of money but we're definitely only having one and I guess I just want to spoil him or her.
I did think about doing the sling but we'll be doing a lot of festivals and glamping so I think a big wheeled pushchair is much more practical for the amount of time the baby will be in it.

Right, off to contemplate buying a crochet hook, all the cute hats are making me jealous! Wink

StarkyTheDirewolf · 04/11/2015 22:58

I wouldn't mind a Welsh name (DH is very Welshy) so it would make sense, but whenever I bring it up he'll go "what?! Like Blodwny? Or Myfanwy??!" And I'll have to explain that no, I mean something a bit more delicate like Seren or Eleri! But again, its what goes with our last name, which is going to be tricky! Biblical would also work (DM is a vicar) I always loved Delilah, but that's been shot down due to Tom Jones connotations! I can't win! Grin
