TTC #1 coming off the pill in December - anyone else in the same boat?!

Hi,

I am going to be coming off the pill after ten years plus on it after my pack finishes in December. Excited but also terrified about what my body is going to do once I'm without all the hormones!

Anyone else doing the same roughly the same time?

Shelb x

(Hope this goes through struggling to post)

Haha yes the "I'm coming off the pill for X, Y, Z not related to babies reason. You do what you like about contraception" seems to work surprisingly well! Guys can be terribly lazy at taking responsibility!!

Runner05 · 05/11/2015 20:30

Secret perhaps you could suggest you don't take it to see if your cycle returns to normal... I suggest you point out that without the pill you will have a higher sex drive, that usually gets their attention Wink

Runner05 · 05/11/2015 20:28

Sorry about the negative Ni still it's early days and if the witch hasn't arrived there's still a chance.

It is hard to stay positive but the best thing you can do to help yourself conceive is relax.

Omg I think I've actually got ovulation pains! Shock never noticed them before but then I wasn't looking. Alternatively, maybe the all you can eat Chinese buffett was a bad idea

Anyone watch the apprentice last night?

Sshsecretenclosed · 05/11/2015 20:27

Last day of seven day pill break today. Supposed to restart tomorrow. Wanted to start ttc on 21st of December, as away for the two weekends before that and didn't want to be worrying about period etc. Now I'm sat here thinking - what if I didn't take that tiny pill tomorrow night......

Pinklily1 · 05/11/2015 20:16

Sorry to hear of the negative Ni.

I try to hold onto the thought that it will be us soon, but I think the bit I struggle with most is that most friends are having baby number 2, and until we TTC baby number one, we don't really have any idea how quickly it will happen. I suppose I'm just worried that when we do start it won't happen for ages, when it seems like all our friends just have to look at their OH's and get pregnant!

shelbTa · 05/11/2015 19:59

Oh and sorry to hear was a negative----

Thanks for all your lovely words ladies, appreciate it Brew (I don't like flowers so have some tea)

pink, stark I know what you mean about jealousy. Luckily no one I know has announced but I'm sure if they did I'd struggle. Just rember that it'll be you making other women jealous soon Wink

So excited about the prospect of being updiffed. I'm sure the tww will be awful. I'm going to do an early test on 20th before I go away, probably not a good idea as I'm not due until 23rd but if it's BFN I'm going to assume I'm not and have a couple of drinks while I'm in Bath.

shelbTa · 05/11/2015 19:58

Hi ni - yeah I get well bad hormonal migraines too so can sympathise with you, Christ knows what they are going to like off the pill!

Oh by the way ladies worst coming off the pill symptom so far happened today. After a week of no hormone headaches and no abdominal cramps this afternoon I got blurred vision and then what I think was my first ever migraine. Don't get me wrong it wasn't like a friend's migraines where she has to lie in a darkened room, but the blurred vision was rather odd! On the plus side it meant I didn't stay late at work doing paperwork, I came home and snuggled on the couch with my cat (who is freaked out by the fireworks). I also got to take aspirin as the poas was neg yesterday!

Day 31 and still waiting...

Ni4444 · 05/11/2015 19:51

pink I had two announcements from people very close to me in the last month. To be honest, the last two years or so I've felt jealous. This time I actually felt "oh my goodness we could be on maternity together!" Actually knowing I'm on the path ttc makes me feel like that will be me soon! It will be you too pink!! But I totally understand feeling upset and jealous. Been there and done that plenty!! Flowers

StarkyTheDirewolf · 05/11/2015 19:30

You're not on your own pink I found out someone I know who I don't like, to add insult to injury was pregnant last week and I was virtually green, i couldn't think straight I was so jealous! It was hideous feeling like that!

Pinklily1 · 05/11/2015 17:57

I've just found out a friend is expecting baby number 2. That's three new pregnancy announcements in the last month. Is it wrong that I am jealous? Obviously happy for them but my first reaction this time was trying not to cry, makes me feel like an awful person

shelbTa · 05/11/2015 17:48

Ah runner I feel for you, I was there last year with my mum Thanks. But something to look forward to with the right timing of the DTD?

Bunch - baited breath.

Starky - I really like Honor.

Oh runner, thoughts are with you. They should still consider you for the other job you have applied for though. It sounds like your boss is quite sympathetic to the difficult situation.

Bunch - I see a very faint line. Will wait with bated breathe to hear what tomorrow brings!

Evelyn is our favourite baby girl name. I know it's become more popular but that doesn't put me off too much. I also like Delilah but OH can't get past the Tom Jones song and I'm not sure I'd actually go for it when the time comes. My other favourite is Ottillie (Tilly for short), but OH not keen.

Runner05 · 05/11/2015 16:09

Bunch you must post your result on here first thing in the morning because you know we're all going to be checking the moment we wake up! Grin I have my fingers and toes crossed for you!

The Dr has signed me off for two weeks and booked me in for counselling... Unfortunately my sick note runs out the day before my mums potentially dangerous biopsy and my counselling doesn't start until 01/12 so I may be going back for a renewal as I can't imagine my stress levels will have got any better Hmm still feeling very releaved to be getting a break and fingers crossed I'll be going back to work in the knowledge that I'm upduffed

Anyone got any nice plans for this weekend?

Ni4444 · 05/11/2015 13:58

Bunch that uncertainty sounds like a horrible place to be. Can you plan something nice for tonight to distract yourself?

Loving the names starky. I really like the idea of a unique name!

Runner I'm sorry to hear that your Mum is having a tough time. You have a lot on your plate. It sounds like your boss is actually quite in tune and supportive. Take a break, recharge, and you'll be back to them stronger than ever! And no reason you can't think of the other job! They can't discriminate against you because you're human!! Xx

StarkyTheDirewolf · 05/11/2015 13:43

Oh, and my names list includes ..Honor, Cecilia, Dannica, Robin, Accalia, Rosalie, Eirlys, Arianwyn. Boys names, we're having more trouble with..I love Stanley, DH likes Faelan. Then there's Deri, Lloyd.. Safe to say, its going to be an interesting journey of names!

StarkyTheDirewolf · 05/11/2015 13:07

Oh runner you poor thing, you've been through the mill of late. Take some time out and be kind to yourself Flowers

The thing with DH is, realistically, I know until I'm actually pregnant, he'll always be worried about the prospect of getting pregnant! Catch 22! (He has a 12 year old ds so has done all the baby stuff before, and the experience he had with the mother of DSS isn't a positive one, so I think he's a bit apprehensive about money. I don't want to push him, but I know he needs a push if that makes sense!

Sshsecretenclosed · 05/11/2015 13:01

bunch I'm squealing on the inside for you!!

BunchOfBobs · 05/11/2015 12:54

Oh Runner you are having a time of it lately.
It's sounds like you really could do with the rest. Thoughts are with you and your Mum. This coupled with the car accident you do just need to put your feet up. Have some hot chocolate, maybe go spend some time with your mum?

DH has picked up superdrugs own for me, I was hoping for First Response too but they didn't have any.

Fingers crossed for me tomorrow.

Deborah89 · 05/11/2015 12:49

Bunch and starky my DH did the same last night and wimped out but he had changed his mind by this morning. Actively TTC now and was ovulating yeaterday (based on signs) so fingers crossed! Xx

Runner05 · 05/11/2015 12:39

Bunch you need to get a pink dye test. First response or super drug own for tomorrow. Blue ones aren't very sensitive and the Tesco own ones are awful! It does however look like a positive so if you are a red dye one should be quite dark not getting excited for you at all!!

Shelb I'm temping and logging symptoms. Can't be arsed with pissy sticks (technical term). Ewcm turned up bang on time mid morning so Ovia is now saying that my most fertile day was probably yesterday when we dtd... I may have to jump OH again today, just in case excited

In other not so happy news I've been sent home from work and instructed to go and get myself signed off with stress after bursting into tears when the Dr called about arranging a biopsy for my mum. Her outlook isn't good at the moment and my boss just sat me down and said I'm obviously not coping with things. It's a bit of a bugger as I applied for another job at the company yesterday so I can forget about that now but I do think I need a rest. Oh well, it's a bit weird really, I've been signed of with depression before but this is completely different, I'm perfectly happy I just can't handle the stress any more.

BunchOfBobs · 05/11/2015 12:34

Haha starky we have similar dh's!! I told mine whats been going on as he's in an airport And I wanted him to pick up some more. Apparently he got a happy flutter in his tummy. Later I'm sure he's swear it was fearflies!!

shelbTa · 05/11/2015 12:28

Giant fanny, haha!

Bunch - I would have done exactly the same.
