TTC #1 coming off the pill in December - anyone else in the same boat?!

Hi,

I am going to be coming off the pill after ten years plus on it after my pack finishes in December. Excited but also terrified about what my body is going to do once I'm without all the hormones!

Anyone else doing the same roughly the same time?

Shelb x

(Hope this goes through struggling to post)

Welcome Kat

Well AF has truly arrived snap Nix Feeling stupidly down about it so headed to the supermarket for chocolate, pate and Brie.

FX my cycle changed so I'm around enough to get those swimmers in place before Feb.

KatOnATinRo0f · 06/11/2015 12:42

No, I don't think i've had any problems. I get headaches anyway and I havent noticed anything worse since being off the pill. period cramps came back though, which was the main reason I went on the pill all that time ago!

StarkyTheDirewolf · 06/11/2015 11:46

Aww bunch that sucks balls! Also on the being away, they do supposedly live for up to 5 days inside us after being put there though, so that's a positive!

Hiya kat welcome!

Is ovie app good then? Might have to have a look! Anyone have a good/bad fireworks night? My dogs don't mind so much but they do get a but more clingy, and I won't let them out! My garden is littered with spent fireworks!

Ni4444 · 06/11/2015 11:43

Welcome Kat! Have you had any problems coming off the pill? Hormone headaches killed me in my first month. I'm hoping month two will be better! I'm thinking I might use it as an excuse to go try some acupuncture!! ??

KatOnATinRo0f · 06/11/2015 11:30

Hi,
Well I we haven't been taking any other precautions. My dr said that I could/should start ovulating right away and there was no need to wait or use condoms for a few months like I've seen written about online.
Kat

BergamotMouse · 06/11/2015 11:03

And sorry to hear about the negative bunch but glad you're taking it well - I hope I manage to be as sensible. Hope all your dates work out so you manage to DTD during your fertile window.

BergamotMouse · 06/11/2015 11:01

Hi Kat. Welcome to the group. Congrats on the wedding. Is this your first month of TTC or have you been trying since the wedding? Very exciting either way! I'm on CD16 so not far from where you are. Not too hopeful for this month but currently say (like a mad woman) with a hot water bottle on my stomach to try to create a nice warm environment for implantation.

KatOnATinRo0f · 06/11/2015 09:36

Hi everyone... Can I join??
Just read most of the posts and would like to join the quest!

DH and I married in August, I'm 28, he's 38. Came off the pill the day after the wedding and have had 2 pretty regular cycles since. Currently CD10. Excited to see what happens!

Ni4444 · 06/11/2015 09:15

Aw! It's crazy but I'm wondering if it's possible to post a container of sperm!!

Thanks to whoever suggested the app Ovie. I had been using one called "my calendar" which is good for noting symptoms but not good with predictions like Ovie is so I think I'll switch over!

BunchOfBobs · 06/11/2015 09:07

Haha ni if only that were the case. Me being away involves me being in the middle of the North Sea. He can't visit Sad
Ooo enjoy all the amazing goodies and drink you're now allowed. FX for next month.

Ni4444 · 06/11/2015 09:04

Aw bunch that sucks. I realised that we'll probably miss December fertility window too as we'll spend Xmas with our families. It is a frustrating delay. But as we know cycles are unpredictable so we can't guarantee any of that either. Just take it as it comes. (Or, can OH visit you for a dirty weekend while you're away?!)

AF has arrived today for me! Tonight I will be drinking wine and eating all sorts of naughty things!

BunchOfBobs · 06/11/2015 09:03

Haha Shelb. I can only hope AF has gone before I leave but I doubt it. As I'm supposed to go Tuesday/Wednesday and she usually stays for 5/6 days.

Just gotta suck it up. It makes it seem so much more understandable why it can take a year to get pregnant and how fast that will go.

shelbTa · 06/11/2015 08:57

Ah bunch. God when you put it like that it does make you think about the timings of it all doesn't it.

Maybe you could DTD before you go away and hope the swimmers stay alive as long as they are meant to that is hopeless advice but didn't know what else to put

Thanks Shelb and pink. Problem is I've just done my maths and that's pretty much it until February now. As I've said previously I have just got a contract to work away from next week. That means I'm away for fertile window this month and supposed to be away in December when fertile window is predicted. I'm on holiday with a friend during predicted Januarys fertile window so that takes me to Feb. Big bums Sad

It could all change with the nature of my work and my app could be wrong so we'll see but I'm now preparing myself for this which is worst case scenario.

Pinklily1 · 06/11/2015 08:42

Sorry Bunch that's poo. Hopefully AF will drive today and leave very quickly afterwards so you can move on to the next.

shelbTa · 06/11/2015 08:07

Aww sorry bunch

Thanks Runner do remember to rest as well today though.

DH is still asleep next to me so I'm waiting to tell him the news. I can feel AF is going to make an appearance today. Damn that witch!

Runner05 · 06/11/2015 06:57

Aww Bunch glad you're not dissapointed but that's poo! On the bright side at least we get to keep you for a bit longer Grin

Didn't sleep much last night. Kept waking up and feeling restless but now I'm shattered! Oh well, at least I don't have to go to work. Massive cathartic deep clean of the flat will be happening today in preparation for the troubles appearing and making it messy again Hmm

BunchOfBobs · 06/11/2015 06:43

It was an Evap line after all. BFN with Superdrugs own. CD35 and counting.

Im very happy to say I have no disappointment just a feeling of "Oh well". AF will or won't be along soon and if not I'll test again on Sunday.

Ni are you testing again as it'll be Cd32 for you?

StarkyTheDirewolf · 06/11/2015 01:08

Next time I'm near a wilkos I'm getting some ovulation tests, I've decided!

I was having a magic moment earlier and DH says "oh you look so far away babe. What are you thinking about?" And I just went..."sperm" his gave was a picture! I was as well, because I was wondering if each sperm is different, or are they all the same per...go...? Or are all the eggs different? Or are they all the same genetic wotsit and then it's just the developing part in the womb which makes each baby different... I tried explaining but he just looked confused and a little bit concerned.

I LOVE Delilah, its such an epic name, my Dsis suggested 'Xanthippe' but then quickly bagsied it, as it means something to do with horses, and she is a horsey type!

Runner05 · 05/11/2015 23:05

Ni I nearly bought an ovulation test when I was walking through town earlier but I thought Sod's law I'd get pregnant this month so it would be a waste of money... Hang on, on second thoughts maybe I should buy one and tempt fate Wink
You'll have to let us know how well they work.

Bunch I have a selection of about 5 different types of test ready and waiting. If there's even a remote chance I'm pregnant I shall pee on all of them! Grin

My OH likes traditional names but nothing old fashioned Hmm I like flower names, Rose and Poppy being my favourites but OH isn't keen. We've got one name we agree on but not sure we'll go with it.

BunchOfBobs · 05/11/2015 22:20

secret I definitely say go for it.

Runner 3 days early is not much just make sure enough get reliable tests. Ahem unlike me Hmm

Starky I love the names list and obviously I love Evelyn Pink. I also loved Delilah but DH not a fab fkr the same reasons. I loved Lola but he won't back down because of the Kinks song.

I'll be on as soon as I've got my results and told DH. FX eek!!!

Ni4444 · 05/11/2015 22:04

Haha if they take you Runner they'll have to take all of us!!

Right, did a little Xmas shopping on amazon....and stuck in some cheapo wee sticks, and shelled out for the clearblue digital ovulation test as the reviews were so good! I am ready for month 2!! Grin

Runner05 · 05/11/2015 21:46

Shelb it's like someone has / is giving me a hard poke, it's quite low down probably about the level of my hip bone and to my right. I'm probably imagining things because it would be ideal if I ovulated today.

I was actually having a mental discussion in my head earlier which went something along the line of "come on little spermies, find that egg, you can do it..." I'm expecting the men in white coats to arrive any minute now Confused

shelbTa · 05/11/2015 20:56

Runner - what do the pains feel like? Where are they?
