TTC #1 coming off the pill in December - anyone else in the same boat?!

shelbTa · 28/09/2015 08:22

Hi,

I am going to be coming off the pill after ten years plus on it after my pack finishes in December. Excited but also terrified about what my body is going to do once I'm without all the hormones!

Anyone else doing the same roughly the same time?

Shelb x

(Hope this goes through struggling to post)

Hello ladies, can I join? You seem like a lovely lot! Loving the hats!

We just started TTC this cycle. I thought I OV on CD14 but I'm basing that Ovia app and CM, not OPKs or temps or anything. Anyway today CD17 I've got cramping and spotting. Driving myself crazy googling. I suspect it's just stupid post-pill messed up cycles. Was planning to test on 21st but due to spotting think I might be out this month!

Runner05 · 08/11/2015 17:01

Stark you just made me snort tea with your "actual words" to OH, I even told my OH... He thought it was a reasonable argument Wink

I agree with the period inaccuracy in Reign. The costumes are driving me crazy. I used to be a reenactor and we all had to make our own costumes from scratch without patterns because there was hell to pay if you used a modern pattern with darts etc. I think my club relaxed the rules not long after I left as I saw a few costumes last time I watched them with fitted gowns and rick rack braid Hmm I do not approve lol
But I'm looking at Reign as being a fantasy story loosely based on historical figures and once I made that distinction I quite enjoyed it.
Do you read Philippa Gregory?

I may be in the market for a hat once I'm knocked up Grin

Shelb I found waiting for AF to sod off the worse part so I hope it passes quickly for you Grin

Pinklily1 · 08/11/2015 16:57

Woo hoo Starky, that's brilliant. Remind me - how old are you and OH again? My OH reckons we need 3 years between each child ideally, but I think I will hear my biological clock ticking too loudly to wait that long!

shelbTa · 08/11/2015 16:01

Awesome starky re TTC!

Runner - yeah I am really excited! I've got a monster week at work so hoping its just going to fly by, then it will be AF, then let the good times role (hopefully)!

I was gutted about Reign runner I was so excited and then it just seems to be period inaccurate (pedant that I am) but I loved the Tudors, so I'm bias! I studied classical Greek mythology and 'Troy' annoys the balls off me (Brad Pitt was the wrongest of wrong choices in my opinion!) Grin

I'm going to stick a few on my Dsis horse page and see if people bite, I've got to get shut of a few and it will go in the bank for Christmas! If anyone wants one for any little ones they know, just give me a tinkle and I'll knock one up!

Just had a conversation with DH and told him that my fertility clock is ticking loudly so as of this week we are "casually" TTC Grin as I would ideally like two and a few years apart! My actual words were "well we need more than one child, in case one takes after you...and is a dick!" So I think he's on board! Grin

Runner05 · 08/11/2015 15:15

Pink I got my first response from eBay but I've seen them in Boots, Tesco and Superdrug.

Shelb yep, bbt is temping. I'm also obsessive but I control it by being obsessive in a controlled manner I am also a control freak
Less that a week to go for you now. Are you crazy excited?

Bergamot your chart looks ace. Mine doesn't have a raise in temp in line with ovulation which I'm sure happened about CD13 when considering CM and cramps. In fact the last 2 days temps have been really low even though on one of those days I woke drenched in sweat which would suggest my temp should have been high. I'm now near certain that it's because I'm breathing through my mouth at night as others online have cited this as a reason. I don't know what I can do about that though Hmm

Stark that hat collection is impressive! Maybe you should start an etsy store or something Wink

Does anyone watch a series called Reign on Netflicks? I watched an episode last week and got instantly hooked. It's a drama about Mary Queen of Scots.

NantucketNightbird · 08/11/2015 15:12

Loving those bonnets! I've found some lovely vintage patterns which I plan to start on Tuesday. DH has Sunday/Monday off and if he sees me crocheting baby things he will probably think I have lost it. I'm itching to finish my blanket though.

Is anyone testing in the next few days? I'm so excited for you all.

StarkyTheDirewolf · 08/11/2015 14:20

Thanks bergamot I was reading things from Google and starting to question my own intelligence because it was confusing me! Your explanation makes total sense! I'll order a basal thermometer tonight! had to Google how to use one as I genuinely thought you had to take your fanny temp...I've now been educated, and have learned that mouth temperature is fine Grin

BergamotMouse · 08/11/2015 14:04

That's an impressive bonnet collection starky!! You need to get a basal body temperature thermometer (about £3 off amazon) and then take your temp as soon as you wake (at a similar time each day). You should find that after ovulation you get a rise in temp so all it tells you is if and when you ovulated. It doesn't help you to know when to dtd that month but it can help you to find patterns.

A cycle is from the first day of period to next period.

StarkyTheDirewolf · 08/11/2015 13:40

Bonnet collection! Oh good! our little club is ace! What a miserable day here! Rainy, grey and windy!

Can someone who is temping please explain temping to me? I need to get serious about understanding it! And cycle days, how do you know how long a cycle is? Between periods or ovulations or period to ovulation? There's more to this conceiving than just boning on specific days and lying with my legs up after!

TTC #1 coming off the pill in December - anyone else in the same boat?!
Ni4444 · 08/11/2015 11:45

Sorry Runner, not temping so can't help. Hoping the ovulation sticks and CM will be enough.

pink I got them in Boots

BergamotMouse · 08/11/2015 11:39

I'm temping Runner. Can you attach your chart? Mine seems a little all over the place as I don't take it at the same time in the morning and I wake up quite a bit through the night. I've attached mine for you to compare.

I worry I'm getting a bit obsessed with it though as currently have 3 apps on the go at once.

Morning ladies, how are we all?

Welcome nant!

Missed loads of messages...Yeah well exciting some of us should should be testing before Christmas. Yeah am Deffo up for staying together starky, our little group is ace!

Runner is BBT temping? No I'm not planning to, only because i get so obsessed with stuff I'm trying to reign it in as much as possible!

Well tired this weekend - just slept in until 11 which is so unlike me, must have been the wine last night have needed it.

Runner i'm not temping so can't shed any light on that.

Random question, but where did you manage to get a First Response test from? I've looked in Sainsbury's and Asda and they only had Clear Blue and their own make. Obviously I don't need them right now, but just want to be prepared when the time comes as the First Response ones are one of the most sensitive aren't they?

Runner05 · 08/11/2015 10:10

Yay, lots of testers around the same time. I think in going to do a sneaky Frer at 12 dpo just becaus I'm an impatient bugger Grin plus I'm going away and want to know if I can drink wine!

Stark I agree we should all stay together. I'd miss you lot! The first one to get upduffed will have to go to the pregnancy session and set up a TTC#1 graduate life boat for us all to hop onto Grin

Bunch I hope your nan had a nice time and your dog didn't wake the neighbours Wink

I didn't know there was a new series of OBEM I thought one just finished?

Is anyone taking their BBT? I'm a bit confused by mine as it doesn't seem to be doing what it should. Either I haven't ovulated yet or the readings are being effected by me breathing through my mouth at night (I've read that can happen) but the only alternative is taking a reading from my foof... That is not happening!! Confused I might have to try ovulation tests if I'm not upduffed this month.

BunchOfBobs · 08/11/2015 10:04

Oh wow Nant I just looked it up. I remember the episode. That pattern is far too intricate for my patience. I'm just doing a alternate colour blanket of trebles using Sirdar Shuggly Baby Bamboo yarn. It's lovely and soft and I can watch rubbish TV and zone out. I'm such a lazy crocheter! I applaud you. You'll have to post a photo when you've finished it.

Starky we need to see an update of your bonnet collection!

Pinklily1 · 08/11/2015 10:03

Morning everyone! hi Nant.

It's so exciting that there will be a few people testing before Christmas! Surely at least one must be a positive! Fingers and toes crossed for you all.

OH and I were discussing things again last night, after his wobble about finances, and typical man style he is back on board. He said he hopes I'm not going to use those "wee stick things" (ovulation tests) and that come January we can just DTD lots all month. I didn't mention that I'm already obsessively tracking stuff on Ovia!

NantucketNightbird · 08/11/2015 09:39

Hi bunch, the call the midwife blanket I'm making is a baby blanket, not the joint afghan that was made. It's a delicate one piece blanket but very easy once you get going, will try and post a picture hopefully later when I've done a little bit more.

BergamotMouse · 08/11/2015 08:41

Morning all,

Looks like lots of us are at a similar point in our cycle. My AF is also due 18th Deborah but might wait until the weekend after to test (so 21st). There's a chance that it could show up on a really sensitive test the weekend before but think I want to wait until AF is late after reading about chemical pregnancy.

I downloaded the (free) sperm meets egg plan onto my kindle yesterday and read it. It has lots of useful info so if recommend. We pretty much followed the plan this month and now we're out my fertile window we're thrilled to have a break from dtd. Haha, we're not your typical newlyweds!!

BunchOfBobs · 08/11/2015 08:35

Hi Nant

Wow I missed a lot of messages. It was my Dnans 90th birthday party last night located a lovely 2 hours from me so we had to make our way there last night. I was on driving duty (previously planned incase I was upduffed so I could not drink without suspicion). I live in the middle of nowhere so I hope there weren't any fireworks as my dog who was home alone howls like a loon at them. He's not scared, but feels the need to sing them the song of his people when they do go off and he's a Beagle so his howl is LOUD!

Going off the past two months my rest day will be around the 10th of December but in order to need to test I need to be here around the 20th-25th November which I won't be.

I LOVED the call the midwife blanket when shown but I was really peeved the showed everyone knitting when it was clearly crocheted as was granny squares. (I'm easily irritated by TV).

I've been watching the American TV shown "I didn't know I was pregnant". It's insane! It reenactments of women who didn't know they were pregnant until in labour. Crazy stuff!

NantucketNightbird · 08/11/2015 06:55

I won't be testing this month as I've only had sex ONCE!!!! - but I usually catch very quickly so I'm hoping a month of dtd lots next month should result in bfp. I've never tested until af has been at least 2 days late. I'm wanting to time birthdays too so none clash.

Anyone else drooling over prams?

Deborah89 · 08/11/2015 02:29

So pleased there are a few of us all in the 2ww. I'm going to see if I can hold out until the day AF is due hoping she doesn't arrive which will be 18/11

I used to be an avid obem watcher but hadn't realised a new series had started, will start watching it again Smile

Ni4444 · 08/11/2015 00:16

Next test date for me won't be until about 3rd December I reckon! There's bound to be some news before then!! Grin

StarkyTheDirewolf · 07/11/2015 23:06

Well, I think my test date will be in about three weeks, I should really check my dates! I'm really slapdash! Are we going to have a syndicate? Grin I do agree we need at least one or two upduffs soon! I hope we're all going to stay together though! I feel like we have a little club!

Runner05 · 07/11/2015 22:09

The reason was that the baby can slouch and accidentally close their windpipe and because they don't have the strength in their neck to raise their chin they can suffocate if now monitored carefully.
Apparently a baby died recently when his childminder left him in his car seat for a nap and then went to the other room to do some chores. When she came back it was too late Sad
The recommendation is that babies should only stay in car seats as long as necessary and should always be put to sleep lying flat.

Kinda makes me worry that I have no idea how to look after a teeny tiny person and would have easily made this mistake.

Ni I totally agree, we must get at least one or two upduffs in the next two months!

What's? Everyone's test dates this month, if we're going to bet on who's going to miss out on the booze this Christmas we'll need to know who's in the running Wink

I'm going to test on about 12 DPO which should be around 19/11 although God knows when AF is due as it will be my first proper period since coming off the pill hoping it doesn't show up!!!
