TTC #1 coming off the pill in December - anyone else in the same boat?!

Hi,

I am going to be coming off the pill after ten years plus on it after my pack finishes in December. Excited but also terrified about what my body is going to do once I'm without all the hormones!

Anyone else doing the same roughly the same time?

Shelb x

(Hope this goes through struggling to post)

Hi happy I was on marvelon, 'prescribed' it as an anti androgen for acne and stuff when i was younger - seems a long one ago now, really worried about coming off it be honest, from a purely vanity perspective...

Runner - so true, you spend your entire life taking your pill bang on time so you don't get knocked up!

Just to clarify then, from the day you begin to ovulate you can get upduffed for the next ten days? Should know this shit by now --punches self in the face

Bergamot I think I've ovulated I've had ewcm for about 6 days. I had a temp dip the first day, then it raised for a couple of days then it dipped again.
I'm pretty sure I oved about 3 or 4 days ago. I am starting to wish I'd bought some ove strips though so that I could be sure.

Runner05 · 09/11/2015 17:28

happy I haven't had an actual period yet but I'm hoping I don't get one for about 9 months Grin

Are you in tww? It's driving me crazy. Every time I hiccup I think it must be a symptom!
I guess it's because we're tought from a young age that if you don't use protection you'll get pregnant. They didn't mention that if you try to get pregnant the law of sod will suddenly change the rules Hmm

BergamotMouse · 09/11/2015 17:23

Runner - if you're getting EWCM and your temp hasn't gone up yet is there a chance you might be ovulating later than you thought you might, especially if stressed. I can't remember if you said anything earlier which means that's not a possibility. I'd say keep dtd every other day just in case (exhausting I know).

I can't quite get to grips with testing CM. I will give it a proper go next month if not successful this month.

happybus28 · 09/11/2015 17:16

shelbTa I have just come off Femodene, I don't think it's a particularly common pill as don't hear much talk about it on forums etc but I've been on it for 10 years. Which one are you coming off?

shelbTa · 09/11/2015 17:01

Happy - what pill have you come off?

runner05 good to know! So many people say they do i was starting to think I was weird! I do want AF to come soon as I want to be able to start tracking my cycle properly, my last AF was just withdrawal bleed from the pill so haven't had a proper one yet. I know what you mean about Christmas too would be nice to be able to let my hair down with a drink or too! I'm not going to drink in between cycles so as soon as AF comes I'll be hitting the wine!

Runner05 · 09/11/2015 16:16

happy I didn't get any coming off the poll symptoms at all. If anything I felt better than I have in a long time after a couple of days off the pill.

Still getting flutters, cramps and ewcm (tmi) but don't know if it's stress related. Part of me desperately wants to be upduffed this month but another part of me wants to drink alchohol and dtd a lot over Christmas lol

happybus28 · 09/11/2015 16:00

It's weird that I always imagined me with a boy..no idea why just when I thought about having a baby in my head it was always a boy! However since we decided to start TTC I've been leaning more towards girl but I think that's because I have lots of girls names I like but struggling with boys names!! At the end of the day it doesn't matter as long as we have a healthy baby!

I'm currently waiting for all these 'coming off this pill' symptoms people say they experience but nothing so far! Don't know if I'm lucky or am talking too soon lol!

Runner05 · 09/11/2015 15:41

It's alright Pink we won't string you up for having a preference... I think the people who get flamed are the ones who go on ablout only having sex on a full moon, while eating garlic and twirling their bra in the air in order to make sure they have a girl.

I'm undecided as to what I want. I'd love a little girl because what mother wouldn't but I also find most girls annoying and much prefer toys like Lego and swords to dolls so I'd probably bond better with a boy! Haha Confused in the end, as long as they choose us a nice care home when the time comes I'll be happy!! Wink

Pinklily1 · 09/11/2015 15:33

Hi ladies and newbies!

Ni - loving the high achiever comment! A whole year seems like an eternity.

I was explaining to my OH how much we are going to have to DTD in the fertile window and he said if he gets too tired to do it regularly I can extract sperm from him and he will get me a turkey baster - such a romantic!!

We will definitely find out the sex. I know it's not massively accepted on MN but I will stick my neck out and say I really want a girl. A healthy baby is obviously what is most important but we have a lot of little boys in our extended family so would love a girl.

purplesmiler · 09/11/2015 15:15

Hey Ladies wow so much to catch up on! I will try my best.

Back from a fabulous holiday in Gran Canaria. It was hot and exactly what we both needed total relaxation. Only slight annoyance was my AF arriving in the last two days but at least now I can track my cycle. Prior to that there was lots of extra fun with my OH its amazing what a bit of sun does hehe.

Back to reality with a bang though work wise. Tried to take today off but had to work most of day.

Hope your having a good day xx

Runner05 · 09/11/2015 13:45

Stark I hope you get it all sorted out. Hopefully you're right and you just need a proper talk.

My lovely sister just decided to wind my poor mother up again resulting in her screening down the phone at me. It's not her fault as the dementia makes her act that way but my sister knows better and does this out of spite. If anything causes me to have stress problems it's her. So cross as every time she upsets mum by trying to play her off against me she risks advancing her dementia Angry

LisaTheGreek · 09/11/2015 13:38

I don't come on here for a couple of days and I miss so much!

Stark - the same has happened with my DH (and it actually sounds quite common from what people were saying earlier on this thread). He's been saying for years that he's ready when I am, but the moment I say I am and we should set a date for TTC, he freaks out! He's going to go away and do some planning and thinking....

Runner - I know it's a few pages back now, but yes yes yes to feeling like there is so much scary stuff you have to know. I would have had no idea about the car seat thing. I assume there isn't a nice easy website somewhere with everything we need to know listed and categorised...? Grin

StarkyTheDirewolf · 09/11/2015 13:25

Ha-ha we've not had a chance to have a proper chat about it really, its been little tidbits of conversations and anecdotes and bits before we've had to cut it short. So once he's got all his worries out and we can address them and hopefully move forward! I know where he's coming from. She's not a nice person, she bled him dry whilst cheating, then kicked him out and used the baby as a weapon, and still does its all very Jeremy Kyle he wants to build some positive memories but I think I might just have to let him think he's in charge for a little while!

shelbTa · 09/11/2015 13:10

Starky funny post!!! sorry to hear he's dragging his heels, but guess could understand why a bit?

My OH is ridiculously broody, he doesn't have any with anyone else. He'll make a great dad, I just hope all this TTC stuff doesn't make it all become stressful...

My OH is so funny. One of his best mates is currently ttc and he's telling OH when his missus is late and ovulating and all the details. My OH isn't even telling him we're ttc! He doesn't want all the questions and pressure from others. Still, at least he's talking about it to me! Men are emotional creatures, bless them...just can't always talk about how they feel! That's why we look like the emotional ones!

StarkyTheDirewolf · 09/11/2015 12:28

bergamot its funny you say that about the bath, I was telling DH yesterday about how he's probably not got any sperm left after years of saunas for cutting weight for fights! His face was a picture. He'd clearly never thought about it before!

I'll talk him round, he wants to have a proper sit down chat about it tonight, it'll give him a chance to spill his guts and get all the stress out.

Runner05 · 09/11/2015 11:53

My OH has two dc with his ex-wife and never wanted any more but luckily for me he wants me to have the opportunity to be a mum Smile still any mention of the possibility of me being pregnant freaked him out lol

BergamotMouse · 09/11/2015 11:52

Ah, that sucks starky but can see why he might be hesitant. I've gone for the approach of just talking about it lots as if it a matter of fact and he's getting his head around the idea. He even had a cooler than normal bath last night when I said i was worried it could damage his sperm Blush.

I think I'd like a surprise but DH says he want to know. I think it would help him bond with it so guess we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

I wouldn't worry about the temps runner. I think it can be affected by loads of factors so it probably is the mouth breathing. Fingers crossed your not out for this month.

StarkyTheDirewolf · 09/11/2015 11:20

Ahh my dh is a knobhead, he gets me all excited about TTC and then literally loses his bottle halfway through and shits out! like a bellend He admitted being scared last night though, he has a 12 year old who wasn't planned and didn't have a good experience with the mother still doesn't so he's freaked out about the prospect of planning it all etc. I shall just continue to talk gently and calmly bully him to him about it all.

Ni4444 · 09/11/2015 11:09

I like the idea of a surprise bunch. I'm totally convinced that not knowing will motivate me to push when I'm fed up of the labour process!!

Runner that's a great way of describing it. That's what I said to my OH when he thought I was mad to poas "you haven't been in my body for the last two weeks!". But yes happy the men seem to prefer not knowing too much. I talk too much so I'm trying to bite my tongue and not overwhelm him!

happybus28 · 09/11/2015 11:04

That's reassuring to hear other men feel the same! I've just downloaded the ovia app which seems really good although I'm not sure what my cycle is like due to being on the pill for so long!

At the moment I don't think I'd want to find out the sex but I can see that changing once I'm actually pregnant! I have a shortlist of 3 boys and 3 girls names that I like already!

Runner05 · 09/11/2015 10:38

We'll definitely find out the sex. Neither if us are fussed about surprises and I want to be able to colour co-ordinate... That being said Simone I know recently had a baby, they were told it was a boy but turned out to be a girl! Oops

Runner05 · 09/11/2015 10:35

Glad you had a positive experience at the Dr Ni and I know you're right, until AF turns up o can't be sure I'm out. But as you say we're all impatient high achievers here so I expect my body to do exactly as it's supposed to! Wink

happy from what I've read nearly all men just want to stop preventing and not think about it and they do seem to get cold feet if they know how eager and obsessive us women folk are. For us it's very personal, it's about our connection with our own bodies and our emotions but for them it's abstract and not really real until the baby pops out Confused on the bright side you have us so obsess away, you won't be the only one Grin

Managed a short run but it was a bit feeble. Will do better tomorrow Smile
