Waiting to try, and cycle a mess from the pill

Hi Everyone..... Glad I'm not the only person playing this horrible waiting game!!
I stopped taking the pill back in May. Had usual withdrawal AF and then nothing until 25th Oct!
Went to the docs during that wait, had a blood test & was told everything was fine and to just wait it out.
I'm not sure if I have ovulated, was planning on waiting until next AF (hoping I wouldn't be waiting as long as last time!) and then start tracking! I'm trying to kid myself that I'm relaxed about it!!

I had the same thing cookie, had such a long cycle last time so wasn't expecting to Ov around day 16 when I got my peak reading. On CD27 now, expecting AF from any time CD33 onwards. Haven't OPK's since as you can't on CB digital after your peak, need to get some cheapo's to use too.
Where do you guys get your OPK's from?
Sunny thanks for the helpful info on Ov and temping, I might order a therm and start that too to be sure if I have or not. I also had a query re DH getting up earlier than me but sounds like I should temp then when I stir as he says bye.

I think my body tried earlier in my cycle this month cookie. Have a look at my chart. I had days and days of EWCM earlier in cycle (more than I did when I OV'd). I'm hoping this temp rise is going to turn into proof of OV.. But I'm pretty sure I did. Pos OPK and nipples sore since. X

It definitely sums me up too!!

It's crazy when you hear people getting pregnant by accident or after one nights stands and here is us obsessing over temps and CM etc.

I'm sure being relaxed does help its just not that easy to is it! Xx

I think perhaps my body has geared up for ov but have this gut feeling that it hasn't (yet). No EWCM or any CM at all just now. Hopefully it will come later in the cycle! Will def give temping a go. Think I'm just being lazy!! Hope your AF arrive soon Yvonne. I was 37 days, 55 days & now 16 days & counting!! The title of this thread sums me up completely!! Xx

I did a LOT of googling when I 1st stopped the pill. It's called post pill amenorrhea. its by no means everyone, as you can see from this thread some get pregnant 1st cycle off pill, other wait upto a year for periods to return... For most they get pregnant somewhere in between! Fingers crossed it's not a long wait for you. Funnily enough it also took my sister 10 months to have a period after pill.. We are quite alike with most things.. But it does make me think some peoples bodies are just more sensitive to hormones/medication.

We haven't told anyone either. I did tell my sister we had stopped preventing, cod I tell her everything. But she is younger and no where near babies so I don't think she gets it (although she is excited for us) she just thinks chill and it will happen at some point! Which I know but doesn't stop me obsessing! Lol. Half of my friends have had babies in the last year... And all got pregnant by accident or immediately! The other half aren't close to babies. Xx

It sure is crap but it's nice to hear it's normal it's so strange I'd never heard of people have no periods after stopping before but I suppose it's not really something you talk about! I've not told many friends I'm TTC tho as I'm one of the first so that's probably why. Xx

Hi Yvonne. Sorry about the long wait but it is normal (but crap) I'm afraid. I'm an extreme case but when I stopped pill a few years ago took 10 months to have 1st period. This time took 98 days. Spoke to GP who just said wait! Although I have heard people who've been to GP and been given something to induce bleed after 3 months. I did a preg test every 30 days just to be sure.

Hi cookie. Might have been you're OV. Might not... Which I know is annoying. Sometimes your body can gear up to OV, LH goes up, EWCM eye but then doesn't OV.. All settles and then can OV properly later in cycle. You won't really know without temping, or wait for AF. :( I wasn't sure about temping, but if you are someone (like me) who can press snooze and doze its not too bad. DH gets up before me, I open my eyes long enough to put thermometer under tongue, takes about 30 seconds. I write mine straight down in app and then go back to sleep. Some thermometers have memory so you can write it down later. Cycle say 35! Xx

Thanks for the opk advice everyone. I'm on CD 16 but would have been CD 14 when I got the dark(ish) lines. Because my cycles have been so long I assumed I wouldn't be anywhere near ovulation yet! Blank opk today so I'm really confused! I've got a thermometer but have been reluctant to use it as hubby gets up very early for work and I try to doze for a while before getting up myself (& I know you should do it straight after wakening). Ah, what a fiasco all this TTC business is Whar CD are you on now sunny? Xx

Well.. it would have been when we had a mess around on the 8th November...so by rights I should have done one by now but not going to as it's just my body wreaking havoc! We aren't TTC just yet, need to have a full and proper chat about it.

Yeah, worth getting checked although they say it can take up to 9 months medically for it all to return to normal!!xx

It really is cruel you stop taking your pill to ttc then you have all the signs of pregnancy and no period!!!!!

Fingers crossed you might be tho when will you do a test?

I've book a phone consultation with the GP on Thurs to see if it's worth me making an appointment x

I've been borderline convinced I'm pregnant with the symptoms but

1. scared incase i am and
2. it's hugely unlikely!!

Definitely pill withdrawal - it's so cruel!xx

I was the same after about cd30 I had a week of period symptoms but then nothing since and no period!

I'm going to give the GP a call this afternoon and see what they say.

It is seemingly quite normal to have a long wait! I stopped on the 22nd Oct, had a withdrawal but was hoping it would appear today as had some quite strong cramps, sore boobs & nausea, but no sign yet. Still has time though!

There is no harm in speaking to your GP but would imagine they will say wait 3 months or so since stopping.xx

I'm new on here seems like a few people are in similar position which is comforting to read!

I stopped taking Yasmin in September after 10 years, I had a normal withdrawn bleed then nothing!

I'm now CD 60 and so worried! I've taken three tests all negative and don't know what else to do.

I'm thinking of making a doctors appointment but I'm sure they will just say i need to wait longer.

It's just so frustrating I really wish I was more aware of how long it may take for things to get back to normal as I would have stopped taking it so much sooner! X

Cookie u probably got ur peak ovulation during the night if ur lines are fainter next day I only got one dark line and it went faint next day too X if u dtd any of the days with darkish lines ur very in with a chance of falling pregnant ! Ps wish I was going on a cruise! Lol X
Sunny - well done for temping I would forget and same as u hardly ever sleep right thru , they say as long as uv had 3 hrs it still works X

Newgirl - how far r u in your cycle? It wouldn't b a disaster at all lol but yeh I get the non drinking thing at Christmas ! Ppl will def know somethings up wen I don't have a glass of wine in my hand! X

Hi cookie. What cycle day are you on? Sometimes my lines did fluctuate in darkness just because we all have certain levels of LH all month. Or some people only get a peak for a few hours so it's possible to miss it. Are you temping. That's the only way to tell if you've OV'd. Iv only been doing it this month, it's pretty easy, only takes about 30 seconds each morning and the thermometer only cost a couple of pounds.

I propably won't temp long term as it becomes a bit obsessive (and I don't wake up at the same time everyday, wake quite a lot in the night etc), if it shows my OPKs are correct I might just do that. Xx

Last month my AF took so long to arrive and I felt bad for hoping it wouldn't be a BFP. I have a cruise booked for April and wouldn't be allowed on it if I were over 24 weeks! Would be fine this cycle onwards though
Used an opk last night and line was a lot darker than yest but this afternoon's one was very faint. Very confused! Really didn't expect to ov this early anyways but got my hopes up with my OPKs yest - wonder what is going on?? Xx

You're right it certainly would! I'm just being silly! I'm also paranoid that everyone would know before I'd want them to know when I wouldn't be drinking at Xmas. But I guess it's not the end if the world.

Haha new girl, It's funny isn't it. just think of it as a bonus of you get a BFP a month early! Would take all the stress out of "trying!"

My opk has gone back to negative today. Phew. Two days of positive seems about normal. Just hoping my temps over the next few days show I have actually OV'd. Still got a bit of right sided pain but not as bad as last night.

Point hopefully your period is on its way! X

I'm on CD26 and no sign of AF, if I caught my Ov peak right then AF should arrive some time next week. Might do a PG test next Monday.
I've been feeling really guilty that I am hoping for AF/BFN as we weren't planning on trying till next month . Seems silly as I'd be over the moon if it was next month, I think I'm losing the plot!

Gx91 thanks! We've actually had 5 scans in total. I had to have 3 emergency scans. My first scan was at 5+5 then 6+5 and then 7+3 because I had bleeding. They couldn't see a cause on the ultra sound so they ended up doing an exam and it showed I have an 'ectopian' which basically put means that there are sensitive cells in my womb that aren't usually there which won't harm the pregnancy but it means I'm more likely to get bleeding if they become irritated. The nurse told me I had this because of being on the PILL and it's common for people to get this because of the Pill changing your hormones. So that's something to note ladies! We then had a scan at 10 weeks which was supposed to be 12 but they arranged it early as at the time I had no idea what my dates were. So then I had another at 12 weeks because they could perform the screen at 10 weeks. It has been amazing to see our baby developing across the scans especially the amount of change that can happen in just 2 weeks! I can't wait until you guys are all in the same position it's truly amazing, enjoy every second of it!

Still waiting for my first AF.. Only been 32 days since stopped taking the pill so hopeful it is soon. Been having the slight cramping and bloating since about Wednesday last week!xx
