Waiting to try, and cycle a mess from the pill

Just wondering if there are any other lurkers in the same boat as me, planning to TTC in December/January?

I came off the pill three months ago and have only had one pathetic AF in that time, so very glad I came off early but also pretty anxious at how messed up things are, 1st cycle was 39 days, this one is 40 and courting.

So who's with me? I can't be the only person on here who is actually hoping for AF!

Hi all. So much to catch up on!

Gx hope you are getting a bit more love and TLC now. Have you and DH got some time off together over Christmas? Yeah I do enjoy my job (not all the time but who does). It's busy and often stressful and a lot of responsibility, but it's also rewarding and a provilage to be part of people's lives at such a special time. Definitely think about your training after having your DC. Probably 70% of the people I trained with were retraining after doing nothing different careers and having their babies.

Welcome flamingo! I agree with the hormones part after stopping pill!! Although not as awful as the time I came of implant, me and DH look back and laugh at it now but at the time I think he thought someone had stolen my personality! I remember sitting across the table from him in a pub one minute enjoying a nice drink after dinner, the next minute genuinely sobbing, snot, heaving the works!! While he just looked on in fear! Haha. I ended up curled up on his lap in the pub crying. Luckily it only lasted about a month.

Chapman, sorry AF got you! Especially with no warning! It's mean isn't it! Although at least your cycles have settled down quickly, lucky you. And you get to enjoy Xmas food and drinkies.

Sophie, cycles and withdrawel bleeding can be different for everyone. Has yours stopped now? My 1st withdrawel bleed off pill was longer than my periods normally are, when I was on pill my withdrawel bleeds each month would only stop when I restarted pill... So think without the hormones going back in it took longer. Although I'm no expert (all my patients come to me already pregnant so I can't really help with this bit of the journey!! :)

Cookie that's great that fertile period will fall in time off! Lots of opertinies this month then!! Fingers crossed the Angus cactus keeps working!

Not much going on over here. Cycle day 14, opks all negative (but last 2 cycles OVd on day 87 and 32 so not expecting anything yet, although would be nice if soy has brought it forward!!) Had a tiny bit of EWCM a few days ago but back to creamy again now and temp and opks say not OVd. Last month had lots of patches of EWCM before actually OVing, think body tries to but doesn't quite do it. Lots of pelvic pain today though so maybe something is stirring!

Xx

New year*

Cookie22 · 15/12/2015 22:20

That's great your cycles seem to be back to a regular rhythm. It will make things much easier for you in identifying ov! I think between Xmas and year may potentially be my fertile window. Perfect opportunity as both me and DH are off work Grin have also ordered CB digital OPKs for this month to be more prepared! Xx

cnchapmanxx · 15/12/2015 22:06

Hi cookie!
Yeah unfortunately the witch put her spell on me but like u said we can be ttc and ovu buddies!! Happy in a way as this cycle was only 30 days so pretty much what my cycle used to be before the pill!
Hoping we both catch ov and bfp for Jan xxx

Cookie22 · 15/12/2015 21:43

Sorry to hear about AF Chapman, it's a witch isn't it Sad it just means we can be TTC and hopefully BFP buddies this month as we'll roughly be ovulating at the same time as each other (if my pesky cycle settles down!)

Welcome, Flamingo. This is a great wee thread to be part of!

How are you feeling GX? Hope you're feeling a bit better. These long, winter nights don't help with our mood either! Hope you've managed to see a wee bit more of DH this week xx

Nothing new to report with me. CD 3 so at that really uneventful stage of my cycle where I hope AF disappears soon!! Started taking Agnus Castus again in the hope it can regulate things more. I actually felt it may have worked a treat last month as I went from a cycle of 55 days down to 34 days! Xx

cnchapmanxx · 15/12/2015 20:36

More than likely but my doctor did say it takes about 24-48 hours to get out of your system but getting your cycles back to normal and having periods again is a different situation she said! And I stopped taking it 12th Nov Hun x X

Yvonne1986 · 15/12/2015 20:07

I was on it for over ten years so maybe that's why my cycles are a mess! When did you stop taking it? X

cnchapmanxx · 15/12/2015 20:03

I know Yvonne never mind! And I was on the pill for 3/4 years Hun on cerelle the mini pill xx

Yvonne1986 · 15/12/2015 19:55

Gutted for you about the arrival of AF Chapman but at least you have another first cycle fingers crossed for Jan! How long have you been off the pill for? X

cnchapmanxx · 15/12/2015 19:33

This is my first ever time trying for a baby so to be honest I'm clueless but one thing I am happy about is that my periods have returned quick I was dreading being 5/6 months down the line not knowing when I would be next due on! These cramps are horrible my DH made me a snickers milkshake haha!
Hoping I do catch ov this month my basal temp should of arrive from Hong Kong hopefully by next week haha!
Aw bless you I love finding memo we just about to watch love actually - I always cry at it haha! Can't you eat cheeses? There my fave!! Haha take this precious time Hun before you have 2 babies to run around after!! Xx

Gx91 · 15/12/2015 19:21

I know it's hard work , u can do everything right and not know if it has happened or not , don't think I ovulated first cycle off the pill as it didn't happen for us either , I wasn't using OPKs or any other methods other than having a lot of sex !!
I'm sure it won't take u long with normal cycles on ur side !
I am good thanks , sickness has subsided a bit but always tired , DD and I r chilling with finding nemo. ( I'm paying more attention than her)
Looking forward to Christmas but will miss eating soft cheeses and wine ( favourite combo !) wish I could fast forward the first few months of pregnancy , times going so slowly !!

Hope everyone else has had a lovely day , gd luck for ovulation and TWWers for their BFPs ! X

cnchapmanxx · 15/12/2015 19:13

I know gx91I don't know whether I totally missed my ov period or I didn't actually even ov!!
Here's to ovia, opks, temping and lots of dtd! Oh yes I'm so thankful il hopefully catch the January bfp bus! Haha how are you today?? Xx

Gx91 · 15/12/2015 17:57

Aww no chapman , really thought u would have got ur BFP this month! Oh well like I say least u don't have to worry about hiding u can't drink over Christmas ! Xmas Grin take advantage of everything at Christmas lol and good luck for next cycle , glad ur cycles t bk to normal quickly xx

cnchapmanxx · 15/12/2015 11:36

The witch that is AF has just shown up! Just been to the toilet and there heavy blood! In a way I'm happy as I've returned back to my normal cycle right on time! I'm also upset I'm not pregnant but least I can have a merry Christmas! The waiting game waits again til next ov!! XXXX

Yvonne1986 · 15/12/2015 11:32

Definitely the best thing to do I wish I came of the pill much sooner! I think you hear so many stories of people missing one pill or being on antibiotics and getting pregnant it makes you think as soon as you stop taking it everything will spring back into action! X

Gx91 · 15/12/2015 09:12

Welcome flaming !
Your in the right place !
Coming off the pill really is a roller coaster , ur doing the right thing waiting a while before trying ,
I didn't and cycles wer very confusing with all the post pill symtoms and AF delays ! Hopefully u find your cycles shorten over the next few months Smile
The ladies on here r lovely and will help u through any hurdles that fly your way , can b a very frustrating time ! Good luck x

Flamingo88 · 15/12/2015 01:57

Sorry *stabby pains, not shabby pains! But not as dramatic as that sounds, more 'uncomfortable' than painful.

Flamingo88 · 15/12/2015 01:44

Hello ladies
I'm new here and have been following your ttc updates on this thread, so thought I'd just say hello (rather than lurking!!), it's been really interesting and helpful to know how other people find coming off the pill, and what kind of things people try to track their ov with temping and things, who knew making a baby would be so science-y!!?
GX91 congratulations on your bfp, it's so exciting for you and it's nice you've stuck around to help everyone stay positive, even when you've had pg symptoms to deal with and felt a bit low. It's appreciated, don't go anywhere!
vicky congratulations on your engagement!
So a little about me, I'm 27, got married in July this year, not ttc (using condoms) at the mo, wanted to give my body a chance to get back into the swing of normal cycles. Used the pill for ten years or so. Hoping to start trying may/June which sounds really far away but in terms of cycles I guess it isn't really. I took my last cerazette pill 5th Nov, had extremely light period for 7 days and nothing since. I am not monitoring cm or temps, but I am taking multivitamin a day to 'top up' what my body needs to do its thing naturally. I will see how that goes, might need to dabble in CM, tEmping and ov strips if periods are infrequent like they used to be before I started pill! Currently CD40. Not worried yet though. Hormones were HORRENDOUS when I stopped the pill, cried for no reason (all the time and at nothing. Eg I thought there was broccoli in fridge one evening and I thought I'd have that with rice and salmon - so I get home and realise there's no broccoli in fridge and I cried because I couldn't have any for dinner... Hmm dh very confused... And frankly so was I!!!) got v angry, tired etc and generally felt broody and just moped around over first 4 weeks... Figured it's my body adjusting to no pill after so long. Now feeling less of the emotional symptoms, all that remains is feeling bit nauseous at times and dull tiny shabby pains in low tummy for last few days. Only mild symptoms. Hoping AF will drop in for a visit soon. Or maybe I'm OV. Def not pg as using condoms.
Anyway that's me!
Positivity and babydust to all! Smile
X

Bugmuncher · 14/12/2015 21:39

sophie how long have you been off the fill for? I came off in September and have had cycles that were 26 days, then 33 days and now on day 34 with no sign of AF so it sounds like we're a bit similar in that our cycles are getting longer!

cnchapmanxx · 14/12/2015 20:14

Oh wow lots to catch up on! 😀😀
I caved today and tested and it was another bfn but I'm only 12dpo today. No symptoms of the witch AF or pregnancy so I'm confused, but I'm just gonna have to wait another 2 days. Hoping I get something soon one or the other! Hoping my OV at the end/beginning of the month wasn't a ghost haha! I'm driving myself crazy!

How is everyone else?
Gx91- bless you it must be horrible for you. I don't know what I'd do without my oh I went to London for the weekend and cried myself to sleep o was that Lonely haha maybe my emotions or my hormones ha! Has he got time off over xmas?
Cookie - so gutted for you the witch has shown! Least you are regular and you can try again in 14 days time! Fx for you
New girl - that sounds so lovely that you oh gets excited!! Hoping ov comes soon then it's the countdown! Fx for you lovely!
Sophie - I know it's frustrating when your body won't go back to normal but like the other girls have said you can try supplements or even try and relax ( so hard haha) my auntie said when she was trying for her baby she stopped taking the pill for a month then took it for a month then came back off it again and her cycles came back really quick.. I'm not sure I'm gonna try that but i suppose us ladies will try anything!
Sunny - I do not envy you I bet it is so hard for you at the moment! Fx some of the pregnant ladies can spread some dust for you over xmas
X

Feeling fed up tonight as I'm seeing loads of my friends on Facebook pregnant and putting scans up haha xxx

Yvonne1986 · 14/12/2015 15:19

Hi Peasinpod I was all geared up to try Agnus cactus to try to regulate my cycles but was put off by the lady in the health shop as it says on the packaging not to use if pregnant so she said it to use if Ttc.

I came away with Vitamin B6 instead which is meant to regulate your cycles but I'm not so sure it's working!!

I came off the pill end of Sept after ten years, I had normal withdrawal bleed then a cycle that was 63 days it was awful I worried non stop about why I didn't have AF, I was hopeful that my cycle would get back to normal after AF but I'm now on CD 18 and had no signs of OV (I just monitor CM)

It's so frustrating Sophied I know exactly how you feel I've called my GP who was meant to call me back to discuss but didn't even bother!!!

Here's hoping for some Christmas BFP's for us all!!!! Xx

PeasinPod1 · 14/12/2015 13:45

Just wanted to say good luck to all and another huge push to try Agnus Cactus (me= cycle totally messed up after the pill, nothing for 4 months, day after taking it got AF and then pregnant 1st cycle after using it) but please make sure you get the right/higher dose needed to make a difference x

www.amazon.co.uk/Agnus-Castus-1000mg-tablets-vitex/dp/B00ERP5MM0

NewGirl2015 · 14/12/2015 13:19

Sorry to Hear you're feeling down GX, feeling love deprived that's the worst I can imagine you feel like you want to be looked after at the mo!
Hope you can make the most of a relaxed, non pregnant Christmas Cookie, although gutting about AFSad
My DH also works for himself and has been crazy at the moment (thankfully not ALL weekend just Saturday's) it's so hard for them to say no when the work is there isn't it. Like you say Cookie we are always here for a virtual chat & hug!
Starting to get some EWCM today although a negative OPK...better get down to it!!

Shan its frustrating but TTC really takes patience and time to let your body get back to normal and understand your body, your cycle, your own symptoms to look out for. Good luck!
Sophie, same for you it's a good thing it's not PCOS but understand that leaves you feeling a bit lost. Maybe try Angus Cactus, some of the ladies on here have had success with it Thanks

Gx91 · 14/12/2015 12:09

Sophied - it's very frustrating , I'm not a fan of the pill now after it messing with cycles afterwards , have u thought about using supplements like some of the girlies on here ? Glad uv been ruled out for PCOS , Iv read there are things u can eat that help regulate ur cycle , maybe worth a bash if ur feeling u want to try anything X ( I googled the life out of it when I came off the pill ) hope ur cycles start to shorten now for a fresh start next year X
Cookie Sad sorry it is the witch ! But ur right about getting to enjoy all the perks of Christmas ! I have everything crossed for u to concieve this cycle ! X
Shankate- tip for TTC .. Hmm try and enjoy urself lol it's hard not to become totally obsessed ! I found OPKs very healthily too the month I used them I got pregnant ( also enjoyed POAS every day ) I'm weird lol X
Hope u catch very soon and good luck xx

sophied1983 · 14/12/2015 11:31

In a way, I would rather have a reason why my cycles have been 42 - 51 days long. Not saying I want a condition like that as it must be so hard... but I just want reassurance I guess. Or some help if there is something more serious going on. It's the fact the cycles are getting longer which concerns me.
