Waiting to try, and cycle a mess from the pill

Just wondering if there are any other lurkers in the same boat as me, planning to TTC in December/January?

I came off the pill three months ago and have only had one pathetic AF in that time, so very glad I came off early but also pretty anxious at how messed up things are, 1st cycle was 39 days, this one is 40 and courting.

So who's with me? I can't be the only person on here who is actually hoping for AF!

Yeah I guess all GP's are different. I might give it a go, see how it goes and see what he has to say. I will probably just be told it's normal and just to wait it out.

I had never thought of temping, didn't even know you could do it to check fertility. It's all so confusing! Do you think it's worth me giving it a go not knowing when I am fertile at all?

We aren't absolutely desperate to conceive, we want a baby but I don't want to make it into a big thing, it'll happen when it happens sort of thing! We are getting married in April too would be a nice way to start our new lives together! xxx

Cookie22 · 19/01/2016 20:50

Wow, busy in here tonight! Hope we're all well. Thanks for the temping advice ladies. Will definitely try and keep it up! I don't usually get up for work until about half 6 and DH gets up at 5. Maybe I'll get the hang of the thermometer soon and be able to get back to sleep for a while! Could I even wait until closer to ov time before I consistently temp or would it be better to start just now? You will be fed up of all my questions soon enough, I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to understanding temperature charts, dips, rises etc Grin xx

Sunnydays321 · 19/01/2016 20:23

Loula. Sorry I'm not saying don't go to gp, if it will reassure you. Just wanted to share my experience at doctors. If you do go let me know what they say, some GPs probably say different things. Smile I devotedly find it interesting temping, and it has confirmed that I'm ovulating (even if it is very late in cycle!) and helped me identify I only have fairy short 9 or 10 day luteal phase (the part of the cycle between ovulation and your next period.. Most people's are 14 days). It probably does make me a little more obsessive, but it is helpful. Il probably stop when I know for sure I'm ovulating regularly as it can't actually help you conceive as it only identifies you've ovulated after the event because you need to wait for three consistent height temps to confirm. Xx

Loulabelle1990 · 19/01/2016 19:31

I am hoping I did ovulate bobo! I didnt want to do an ovulation test in case I wasn't and I would have been disappointed (sad I know!). I haven't had any signs of pregnancy so I doubt I am pregnant but worth testing I guess. If would be amazing if I was!

The tww is horrible, hope you husband is okay!

That's interesting to know sunny. I didn't realise that about not ovulating and still getting a period. I can imagine, I really do hope I am not waiting 10 months. I guess there is no point going doctors then until my cycle just randomly comes back to normal.

Do you find temping helpful?! I have never tried it...

Sunnydays321 · 19/01/2016 19:11

loula i think I'm right in saying it's possible to have a period without ovulating (anovulatory cycle), but if you do ovulate you always have a period after (if that makes sense) so I assume I might have ovulated in that 3 month cycle but don't know for sure as wasn't temping/doing opks. The bloods the GPs can do to check ovulating are very specific and need to be done 7days after you have ovulated ... Which would be impossible to Time if you haven't had a period. If you have them done randomly they won't tell you anything. They will sometimes give you something to bring on a bleed but most GPs want you to wait 6 month to do this to give your body a hance to regulate itself. Bringing on a period won't actually help your body get its self back into cycles (just initiates a bleed a bit like taking the combined pill and then stopping would). I know it's hugely hugely frustrating, especially when Ttc! Believe me 10 months is a Loooooonnng time! :)

chapman my thermometer beeps too, really annoying when I'm trying not to wake dh!

alice sounds like you re day 30-35 ish? You count from 1st day of last period. Hopefully something happens soon.

Welcome bobo good to have you along for the Ttc ride.

X

BoBo90 · 19/01/2016 18:14

They are good signs Loula fx you ovulated and caught it then! That would be a nice surprise if you are waiting for af and get a bfp instead! Let us know how you get on Smile

Hopefully we did it enough, poor DH has Asthma and is not used to all the exercise haha

When you don't have a clue what your body is doing and you don't know whether to expect ovulation or af it's super frustrating and a never ending waiting game! At least with the tww you know there is a time limit to the suspense! fx everyone's cycles return to normal soon! xx

alice87m · 19/01/2016 17:57

Sunnydays321 and Loulabelle1990 I'm not sure what day of my cycle I'm on...I took my last pill Dec 13th and had a withdrawal bleed a few days later. I've had nothing since then and really don't even feel like I'm going to get my period any time soon! I took a pregnancy test on Saturday to be sure I wasn't pregnant and it was negative so now I'm just feeling frustrated and hoping my period will get a move on!

Loulabelle1990 · 19/01/2016 17:38

Hi bobo. My periods stopped too whilst I was on cerazette Smile. I have been doing a couple of CB ovulation tests but all negative so far. Saying that, a couple of weeks ago I did have EWCM and some ovary pain but I didn't do a test. Just DTD as much as I could. Going to do a pg this weekend if still no AF. I have never wanted a period so much lol.

I have no idea about when u should DTD when u get a positive opk. I am glad you have finally ovulated though. Just gotta be so patient I guess! If I were u I would just DTD as much as possible. I think you have like a 6 day fertile window to do it in so I am sure you have done more than enough Smile xx

cnchapmanxx · 19/01/2016 15:55

Afternoon girls - sorry my phone is telling me when people are posting so i have no idea haha not being ignorant!
still in the boring stage Ovia saying my fertile peak is 22nd-28th but im going to start testing from today with my sticks and temp from tomorrow only thing is this stupid basal therm makes noises all the time when it checks my temp haha. ive never done temping before and ive got this graph so im gonna fill it in. hopefully DTD every other day from now til the end of the month should be ok.. Ive just signed up for fat camp starting from beginning of feb so hopefully that will take my mind of TTC and itl happen when i least expect it also cause i need to lose weight cause im seeing double chins. :|

how is everyone? xxxx

BoBo90 · 19/01/2016 15:29

Hi ladies, can I join?

Apologies for the essay:
I am now in Cycle 1 after coming off the pill (end of November) so CD55. I was using OPKs in December but all were blank and since I had no idea when it was due I stopped using them. I had pretty much given up on this cycle when I had some ovary pain last Monday! Started taking OPKs again and had faint lines Smile Then I had some brown tinged mucas on sat-sun which after a google I found out I could be ovulating (anyone else had this symptom during ov?). Had the darkest OPK I've had so far on Mon afternoon (wasn't as dark as control line) and was a faint line again mon evening so think fx I ov'd on mon morning! Dtd twice yesterday and will dtd again today but not sure if that's too late? Do you have to get frisky before an OPK surge?

Loula when I was on cerazette it completely stopped my periods for the whole year I was taking it so when I stopped I didn't have a withdrawal bleed straight away like with other pills. Now I've stopped Yasmin and had the withdrawal bleed but nothing since so seem to be having a really long cycle. Keep an eye on any pains or cm changes because even though its a super long cycle you could still ovulate Smile

NewGirl2015 · 19/01/2016 13:39

Cookie I totally agree with sunny, keep trying with the temping it does get easier. I found it really disruptive at first, I kept waking up etc I am also a light sleeping and my DH goes out much earlier than me. Now I have my temp alarm set for about 45 mins before I usually get up, but if you stir when DH goes out set it for then and go back to sleep. As sunny days most bbt therms remember the last temp, so I don't even look at mine until I get up later.
It's really worth it, it's such a good indicator - my temp went back down again today so did another OPK and got a faint line - there's no way I'd have thought to do one if not for the temp! Now more Ov pains today so I don't think ov'd on Sunday after all Sad, must have been a false start. Didn't DTD last night as thought I was past peak so will have to get down to business tonight just in case.

Loulabelle1990 · 19/01/2016 08:39

Thanks sunny. Nope still no period at all, not even had my withdrawal bleed yet! I was only on cerazette for around 7 months and been on BCP since I was 18 and my cycles were fine before that (now 25).

I have heard of that condition before, I was hoping the dr could give me something to bring it on or tests to see if I am ovulating at least. Do you know if you ovulated during those 10 months?!

Sunnydays321 · 19/01/2016 08:20

Loulabelle, still no sign of AF? Good luck with your test, hope it is positive. I'm not saying don't go to Doctor but the 1st time I came off my pill it took 10 months (aka 40 weeks!) for me to have a period! And the GP didn't do anything... Just said come back if it's not returned by a year! It is called post pill amenorrhea, can take up to a year but it's unusual. This time I came off my pill and it took 3 months.. I saw different GP for something else and mentioned it and they said exactly the same. Hope you get yours quicker or get more answers from the GP xx

Loulabelle1990 · 19/01/2016 07:50

Oh I am the same Alice. How long have you been off the pill? I have been off it 6 weeks and still nothing in sight. Going to take a preg test this weekend and if negative I am going to make an appt to see the dr.

That app looks so good, I'll have to give it a go once (if) my cycles come back! I was using ovia but I deleted it because according to that I was ovulating everyday lol.

How is everyone else generally?

Sunnydays321 · 19/01/2016 07:32

What cycle day are you on now alice? Have you tested again?

cookie it took me a little whine to get used to temping, but it does become second nature. I put my thermometer right near my alarm, stick it under my tongue while uv still got my eyes shut. Most of them remember the last temp so you could look it up and chart it later when you are up. Are you doing nothing it at 5am? That means you should really do it at 5am at weekends too 😒 what time do you get up for work? X

alice87m · 19/01/2016 07:18

Still no AF for me! No signs that it's on its way either apart from sore boobs two days ago Sad Wish I could be more patient! I've got the ovia app but can't really start tracking as I have no idea what's going on with my cycle! Good luck to everyone xxx

Cookie22 · 19/01/2016 07:11

Thanks New girl, I've downloaded that app. It already looks like it's going to be more suited to me than the ovia app! Finding that temping is going to be tough, though. I'm a very light sleeper & didn't manage to get back to sleep when Dh got up for work at just after 5am- too much faffing with the thermometer! Will give it another go the rest of this week but if it's disturbing my sleep I might have to just leave it Sad

Sunny, fab news about the Ewcm! Def not tmi, it's great we can share what we like here! Hopefully ov will come sooner for you this month. Your cycles are almost identical to mine in that we seem to ov in the mid/late 20s in our cycle. Fx for you!! Xx

Sunnydays321 · 18/01/2016 23:38

Yeah newgirl they are getting steadily shorter.
98 days
42 days
35 days.
But luteal phase only 9-10 days so earliest I've OVd so far is cd26. Fingers crossed though!!
X

NewGirl2015 · 18/01/2016 23:37

And yes cookie it would be the 10 days next Wednesday Confused for some mad reason I hadn't even worked it out!! Hoping that my temps will give me an indication on whether to hope for BFP or not, so nerve wracking X

NewGirl2015 · 18/01/2016 23:14

Haha sunny no such things as tmi on here!! Yay that's good - maybe a sign of things getting more back to normal! Keep an eye out for it and also becoming more watery, maybe Ov will come earlier for you this month. Think we are all guilty of getting excited about cm!! Remind me what your cycles have been - are they getting shorter?

Sunnydays321 · 18/01/2016 22:44

Totally tmi... But just got LOADS of proper ewcm! Normally I just get little bits of mixed in with other cm. but this was very different! Actually like someone had cracked an egg, I get the expression now! Yay. It's amazing the things that I find exciting now. Haha. My opk was completely negative today so still don't think I'm going to OV for a bit, I'm only cd13 and last few months I have OVd between cd26-cd88 so not holding my breath but this is progress! Sorry il stop updating you about the inner workings of my body now! x

Ps your chart looks great new girl. X

shankate182 · 18/01/2016 22:12

Newgirl
That app looks brilliant may give it a try :)

NewGirl2015 · 18/01/2016 21:59

Cookie I can also recommend Kindara, I bloody love it! Here's a pic of my chart this month - you can mark your temp shift and you can see your cm alongside the temps which I find really useful. You can add custom data to record whatever you want - so excuse some of my random things I record!!

Waiting to try, and cycle a mess from the pill
shankate182 · 18/01/2016 21:04

Cookie
Well I don't know about the graph but there's a section to fill in about temp well give it a download anyways I find it brillant :)

Cookie22 · 18/01/2016 20:56

Oh thanks Shankate! I've been using ovia to input my data but it's been quite useless to be honest due to my irregular cycles. Can you graph your temp on that app? Will give it a download! Xx
