Hello, I'm new to MumsNet. We are officially going to ttc baby #1 at the end of September but I'm 1dpo and in the 7 days leading up to ovulation we DBD 4 times. I'm so so hoping that AF won't make an appearance on the 22nd August! Just starting the tww. Anyone else in this boat, or anyone else ttc on cycle 1?

Best wishes,
K x

Hi brenna welcome! Smile

ren2903 · 20/08/2015 21:37

Hi All,

I use that app also but mainly been using it to try and track my cycle as with coming off the pill I have no idea how many days it should be!
I agree some of the data they ask you to track makes me laugh, I got a little message from them today asking me what was going on down there...

Can I ask what is everyone doing with regards to having the odd glass of wine while ttc?

I'm in the second half of my cycle now and have a few social events coming up so I'm wondering how to deal with the questions of why I'm not drinking, any thoughts or good excuses you have will be welcome Smile

LilyMyOneAndOnly · 20/08/2015 19:25

Still no sign of AF.. had to give my husband a quick biology lesson last night - he was so disappointed by the negative test (more than I was I think!) I guess it could still happen, and if not and it turns out I have a longer cycle than predicted it will push my fertile window forward in September which might be better timing for when he is due home from work!

It's all just ifs and maybes though huh? I'll drive myself mad thinking about it lol!

Well done for getting your smear sorted Toffee not he nicest of things to do, but not that bad in the end really! We have a little tradition of my DH buying me a dress after each smear test.. well I've only ever had two!

Welcome to the thread Brenna nice to have another dog lover here! Where in Italy are you heading off to? We're going to Lake Garda in September with a day in Venice for my birthday.. so excited!

Pixie1988 · 20/08/2015 19:14

Welcome brenna!

Oh no lily- hope af doesn't show up and you get your bfp!
I'm 8dpo and getting impatient just trying to keep myself busy and working lots!
We have not heard from sunflower? I wonder how she is and if she got her bfp xx

Brenna24 · 20/08/2015 16:56

Hiya

Room for another little one?

Name: Brenna
Age: 37
Cycle: #3
Baby: #1
Testing: 30th August.

A bit of history - got married in May (and am going over to Italy in September for a second wedding to keep the new in-laws happy as not all of them made it over). I am a lab technician at a university. I have a grumpy old dog to keep me trained in the art of keeping my patience while wiping floors or puke and poo, getting wakened up at odd hours during the night and making a good old mess over everything.

ToffeeAppleMarsBar · 20/08/2015 15:53

Lily - if you caved and took the test early, there's still hope yet... Will be keeping my fingers crossed for you. Also, in response to an earlier question: I have no idea whether I want to know the sex of any future babies! Part of me wants to keep it a surprise but I don't know if I'll have the self control. Only time will tell...

I went for a smear test this morning (my first one, a little overdue!) and the nurse asked if I had any children and I said no, but hopefully soon! Made it all feel a bit real to say it out loud to a stranger. Actually, it was TTC that made me bite the bullet and have my smear test. Thought it was worth getting the all clear before we kick things off.

XL · 19/08/2015 23:37

Oh sorry lily Sad my period is due Saturday too but ovia is telling me to test tomorrow... I don't think I will, I think I'll at least wait til sat to see if AF shows first... God ain't these months long!! I'm sure this has been the longest 2weeks ever!!

LilyMyOneAndOnly · 19/08/2015 19:09

Oh what a shame - bye Kat, thanks for starting the thread and best of luck with your future ttc plans!

In other news, I caved today and took a pregnancy test early Blush I was going to wait until Saturday to see if my period showed up this week.. but I freaked myself out last night thinking about the upcoming holiday, if I would be able to fit in my clothes (convinced my tummy was expanding!) etc etc.. well it was negative. Not sure how I felt really, a bit deflated I think!

Period still hasn't shown up though.. so I'm still just hanging around!!

ToffeeAppleMarsBar · 19/08/2015 17:30

Oh no, bye Katilo - hope you have a successful TTC journey and I'm sorry I won't be able to share in your good news when it happens. All the best xxx

XL · 19/08/2015 16:54

Oh no Kat! I'm sorry to hear this! I've been and changed all my passwords today and some usernames too... Good luck, sorry you're going... Lisa x

Katilo2 · 19/08/2015 13:08

Ladies, it's been a pleasure. I wish you all the best for bfp and healthy pregnancies. I've just been emailed about this hacking business and have since fallen out with MN so I'm checking out.

Love and best wishes!

Hey girls! Sorry to be absent for a bit. It's DH's birthday today!! Yippee! Our first birthday as a married couple. I made him a little birthday packed lunch, lol. In a Batman lunchbag.

I'm feeling a bit miserable today as have a horrible, horrible ulcer underneath my tongue which is absolutely plaguing me at the moment. Aren't our bodies weird? They don't help themselves do they? Really, I need to eating lots of nice fruit and veg, getting lots of vitamims to keep this ulcer at bay.. but it hurts so much to eat that I'm not really eating anything as can't face it! So I'm run down, knackered and running on empty. I can't talk or anything. GRUMBLE.

And in the back of my mind all I can think is - well, this doesn't bode well for baby-making!

Ticked off some health admin though today and booked in for my cervical smear test tomorrow. I've been naughty and have been avoiding having it done for a couple of years so this is my first one. Bit nervous but knowing that we're TTC has really given me the motivation to go. Wish me luck for tomorrow!

xmaslisa · 19/08/2015 00:15

horsey lol at cervical position!! Grin no I wouldn't know what my cervix felt like either!!! Although I have occasionally tracked the CM if it's like EW but that's about it! I've downloaded about 7 fertility apps now and ovia is the only one I ended up keeping

Horsey21 · 18/08/2015 21:58

I've been using the ovia app too! It seemed to match exactly what my clearblue ovulation tests said as well so I also think it must be pretty good. I don't log much on there though to be honest, just period, days when we dtd and any weird pains.

Some of the stuff it asks for makes me laugh - No idea if my cervix feels like my chin, my nose or my lips! A few more months of ttc may send me into the world of tracking cervical mucus and my cervical position but I'm nowhere near that yet!

xmaslisa · 18/08/2015 14:41

Hi lou13e
Yeah I use ovia... I think it depends on the data you input it does move around your fertile window. After I'd got a positive ovulation test it jiggled it about a bit....tbh it made it more inline with the period tracker app I'd been using for years so I do think it's pretty accurate. FX for your bfp! x

Lou13e · 18/08/2015 12:45

Hi everyone, were the same re baby names... Read the whole top 100 names to oh last night, he said no to about 95%, grr - I'll grind him down eventually... Fingers crossed I get a bfp that is!

Does anyone else use ovia app? It's bought my fertile window forward by 5 days, is a right pain as I'm working lates this week so doubtful that we will both be in the house and actually be awake at the same time to Dtd......... also if oh continues to snore like he did last night he may be missing a vital organ for dtd!!!!!

xmaslisa · 18/08/2015 01:50

Ahhhh! pixie yep DH is also playing it cool interested tho which is good! Not going to jinx myself and think about the what ifs yet tho... I'll save the names and discussions about finding out sex etc til I hopefully get a bfp! FX and baby dust to us all! Smile

Monkey1987 · 17/08/2015 18:35

Good to see I'm not the only one having disagreements over baby names! We have a girls name all picked out but DH wants a boys name I don't! Mainly because it's his brothers name (which is sweet) but it is also my sisters BFs name and I think having 2 uncles with your name might be confusing :p
We've not discussed finding out the sex, I think we will probably leave that until we've got our BFP!

Pixie1988 · 17/08/2015 18:11

Yeah baby names discussions are a regular occurrence in our house! We have similar tastes in girls name, but disagree on boys completely! He has his heart set on a name I dislike and vice versa! ????????

As for finding out the sex, DP wants to find out as easier to discuss names and prepare for baby, however I'm also on the fence! Would love a surprise. But there's no way he's finding out and me not, as it would drive me mad so if he finds out its looking like I will too! X

LilyMyOneAndOnly · 17/08/2015 18:03

Ah yes - we're having the baby name discussions too Pixie. DH likes Ebenezer!! No chance! But generally we like the same sort of names Smile

Would you find out if the baby was a boy or girl? That's another conversation we've been having. We're both undecided at the moment.. I like the idea of knowing so that I could plan better.. but we also like the idea of a surprise at the birth and the announcement to family and friends would be more special!

LilyMyOneAndOnly · 17/08/2015 17:58

Ah yes, my DH is being so much more enthusiastic than I expected.. and not just about all the extra time in bed!! We've had long chats over dinner about how we'd like to raise our children and what's important to us in making a family. He asks me every day if I think I'm pregnant yet.. and when I try and down play it so I don't raise our hopes he tells me I'm underestimating his awesome sperm!!

A couple of times he said that I'll be an fantastic mum, it was so genuine that it made me want to cry! He also said "If you're as good a mum to the baby as you are to the dogs you'll be amazing" which was also so sweet - I really do love my dogs!

Toffee - I'm more like your husband.. I like to be the sensible one and make sure things are just right. But I realised that things are pretty great as they are now, and it takes 9 months to grow a baby - I can sort a lot out in that time!!

Pixie1988 · 17/08/2015 17:54

My DP is trying to be 'cool' about it, but I can see he's scared, he has said this in the past so when he came to me out the blue 2 months ago and said "book an appointment to get your coil out" I was quite shocked. He doesn't really ask the ins and outs of conceiving and I don't wanna bombard him so that's why I'm here! But he's says little things that make me think he's excited! And we have regular baby name discussions/disagreements lol x

ToffeeAppleMarsBar · 17/08/2015 17:30

Ooh Lily, I hate that 'have-I-come-on' feeling anyway, let alone when TTC! Especially when you're due on or a little late. God help me come beginning of September - my first expectant period of TTC.

It's been really lovely to share the excitement with my DH! Anyone else surprised by their partner's enthusiasm? We've always known we both wanted a family and I knew his decision to propose was down to knowing he wanted to start a family soon, but he's far more sensible (and logical!) than me and I always thought he'd be the one to delay proceedings until we'd bought a house, or had a little bit more income or ... any of those 'sensible' things to get out of the way first.

But he's really surprised me with his interest in all things conceiving - he's fascinated by the biology and is keen to try anything I suggest to up our chances! It warms my heart, it does!

LilyMyOneAndOnly · 17/08/2015 16:40

Oo yes get lots of practice in Toffee! My DH was very impressed with sex every night when he came home last!!

I've convinced myself three times today that my period had showed up, but nothing yet. It's going to be a long week (with lots of trips to the loo!!)

ToffeeAppleMarsBar · 17/08/2015 12:27

Ooh keeping my fingers crossed for you horsey.

Hadn't even THOUGHT about birth month affecting baby... Now I feel like a terrible mother-to-be, lol. I think I would actually quite like a summer baby. I would quite like more time with my children before they went off to school though I suppose!

DH and I started DTD yesterday... Not near ovulation yet but getting a bit of pre-practice in! :D
