Hello, I'm new to MumsNet. We are officially going to ttc baby #1 at the end of September but I'm 1dpo and in the 7 days leading up to ovulation we DBD 4 times. I'm so so hoping that AF won't make an appearance on the 22nd August! Just starting the tww. Anyone else in this boat, or anyone else ttc on cycle 1?

Best wishes,
K x

pixie I like the ovia app but as I kept adding in info it kept moving my fettle window around! Confused so I've been using it and opks but kinda following the sperm meets egg plan and am just hoping that something works!!! Fx! x

XL · 15/09/2015 00:43

wanderlustMy AF is due the 18th and if it isn't here I shall be testing too! I have no different symptoms from last month tho so I don't know if that's good or bad tbh!! Have you had any symptoms at all? x

Pixie1988 · 14/09/2015 21:46

I would test the day after af is due - obviously if she hasn't show up! Saves having to face bfn ?? Good luck!

Ovia app was spot on with my fertile window last month that's why it threw me off!! Yeah I'll keep testing for the next couple of days, been dtd every other night anyway ?? x

Wanderlust1 · 14/09/2015 20:48

Thanks Pixie, it's so blimming tough waiting!!! Ok ok I'll try! Would you wait until the day before/day of AF usually due? Or longer?

I've been using Clear Blue dual hormone OPKs for 3 months and it's been really easy to work out as it gives you a smiley face etc... But what I have noticed in conjunction with using the MyDays app is that my fertile window according to the OPKs is sometimes different to the app prediction of my cycle and it also varies each month. Then everyone is different too. I have cycles 25-28 days long and ovulate 14-17 days into my cycle.
That said it could be that you drank more last night, so your pee is less concentrated... Try again tomorrow maybe and if in doubt DTD anyway. Can't hurt right???

TheCatsMother99 · 14/09/2015 19:27

My AF is due on the 26th, which coincidentally is the day I get back from holiday, so I'll be testing then provided AF hasn't reared it's ugly head. Do those internet cheapies work that early though? Or will only the clear blue early pregnancy ones work when you're only about 2 weeks preggo?

I'm quite glad that I'll be away for some of my 2ww as it'll take my mind off the wait!

I'm not sure about the ovulation sticks, Pixie, I've kinda used them and the Ovia app together and things have tied up with each other. I'm still new to this whole testing thing though!

Pixie1988 · 14/09/2015 18:35

Wait it out as long as you can wander!

Af due 25th for me. I have been doing opks for the past week (one a day) as ovia app said my fertile window is 9th-14th. Got an almost positive yesterday (not quite as dark as control line) did one today and negative...have I blinked and missed it?? ??

Woody096 · 14/09/2015 08:10

We are testing on 27/09. Although AF is fairly irregular so it may be taken out of our hands. DH is super excited so I have had to reign him in! Fingers crossed.

Wanderlust1 · 14/09/2015 07:46

Anyone else literally counting down the hours until testing time now?? Ha ha.
Here we go girls!!! Crazy times are a starting! AF would have been due 18/19, but I'm being impatient for good news so wanting to test 18th..... Would you wait longer???

XL · 12/09/2015 00:04

lol! To the pee in the fridge!Grin

Ooo looks like there will be a couple of us testing around the same time then! How fab! 1/52 to go!

Wanderlust1 · 11/09/2015 22:52

That's so funny, I was thinking as I wrote it that maybe that might sound really gross, but sod it and as you say you can wrap it up!!! Who would have thought that it would 'keep' that long? Everydays a school day!

daisy87 · 11/09/2015 18:17

That's a great idea, thanks wanderlust! According to nhs it'll 'keep' for up to 24 hours. I'm a bit funny about things like that (like keeping pee in a fridge!) but a screw top pot in a sealed sandwich bag I could probably cope with...just!

Wanderlust1 · 11/09/2015 13:52

Or daisy, I've got an idea for you.... Never tried this and someone may correct me, but how about peeing in a jar and refrigerating it until after work??? Sounds gross, but I'm sure we've all done crazier things in this quest!

daisy87 · 11/09/2015 12:57

Mine's due 23/24 so will be testing around then. Will probably test after work though as wouldn't want to have to rush off to work (whatever the result!) I know it's less effective to test then but figure if I get a -ve but don't come on I'll just wait til weekend and test first thing, if that makes sense!

Wanderlust1 · 11/09/2015 09:36

Morning all and hello newbies.

It's sounds like we are all in the same boat on the weirdness of DTD on demand. We're on 3rd (and fingers crossed last cycle) and I have to admit, the first was tough, as it was hard to get used to and my husband felt under so much pressure to perform.
We had a few mini arguments where we were just both frustrated with it, but I think it made us stronger and understand that we needed to be more positive about it and the end goal is an awesome one. 2nd and 3rd have been much better and we joke that it's BMT (baby making time) so have to drop what we're doing.

XL / my AF was due to be due (get the positivity here) on 18/19 and I'm traveling 18th-22nd (without husband), but I think I might join you and test on the morning of 18th while I'm with my husband, because I'm getting super impatient and excited already.

Anyone else testing around that time?
X

XL · 10/09/2015 22:58

The first cycle we did feel a bit weird knowing what it was for but now 3rd cycle and were kind of into it so its Coolio!! I'm tracking via ovia but also using the sperm meets egg plan so we'll see! Fx!

XL · 10/09/2015 22:56

Hi daisy usbrit and sunshinegirl welcome!

Sunshinegirl2015 · 10/09/2015 21:31

Hoping that if I join in this thread I can join in all the recent BFPs!

Fx. Currently 6DPO.

Have been TTC since new year. 27 and DH is 28.

TheCatsMother I know what you mean. DH and I have a healthy sex life but during my fertile window it can feel a bit forced. This month we tried a plan I read about where you dtd everyday that you have creamy, wet or egg white cervical fluid and the day after your temp rise. Eight days in total for us. But we did it. It's nice now though to just dtd if we're in the mood rather than because of a goal. He didn't complain though haha.

TheCatsMother99 · 10/09/2015 21:10

Thanks for the reassurances.

I think it's because it's taken us years of bring together to get to this point (been together over 12 years) and before now it's never served any purpose other than fun.

DH is home tomorrow night so will do my best not to be a complete weirdo & act natural! Ha!

Usabrit · 10/09/2015 20:53

I found it weird and then we did not have any for a bit but i was past Ov but it was the reg fun stuff again so telling him I got smiles made it more tense some how so, this time I just wanna just relax.

Pixie1988 · 10/09/2015 19:42

I don't feel weird, some for reason knowing when I'm in my fertile window makes me kinda feel in control in a way, dp is just enjoying all the sex and not questioning it (he obviously knows though)! Just relax and enjoy x

Sunflower86 · 10/09/2015 18:45

Hi catsmother dont worry I felt EXACTLY the same! Its something youve done time and time again but all of a sudden it means something else and its like some big ritual full of pressure and expactation! Our first try for cycle #1 was extremely awkward and we both felt odd afterwards like should we definitely do this and what if that was it. Hard to explain but it does make sense because its like a no turning back point. The nice thing was that after a few tries we forgot all our rational reservations about everything (careers, money, have we done enough couples only stuff) and were just really hoping for a bfp and totally invested.

So dont worry and just dive in, even if its weird, and the next time will be back to normal and wont feel so forced.

Sunflower86 · 10/09/2015 18:39

Im feeling very impatient as normal. Phoned my GP to hope for an appointment (where i would of course be greeted with balloons and fanfair for my bfp) and the receptionist just said i cant go through my doctor any more and to phone the hospital directly. So i phone them and its a midwife auto message saying to register online... So i go there and halfway through filling out the form it says i have to wait till my 6 weeks to register (!!) and then they will call me up at my 10 weeks! Feel like I should be doing something or at least given a pamphlet as I feel completely un-knowledgeable. Anyone else with a recent bfp had the same? Ps, Im not whinging Im just terribly eager to talk to a professional (not including my midwife sister whi says i have plenty of time and not to worry) or get it confirmed by someone official in some way (Im basing this on too much tv!)

Usabrit · 10/09/2015 18:09

Hi daisy87Smile

daisy87 · 10/09/2015 18:03

Hi, can I join you guys? It's our first month ttc and I'm also currently in fertile window. Agree with you CatsMother, feel a bit pressured but also bit bad on dh as he wants us to be relaxed about things (which I'm trying, and failing, to be!) so don't want to force it. This seems like a lucky thread so hoping that'll continue!

Usabrit · 10/09/2015 17:03

Hello SmileI am new to boards We tried last month sadly got AF but I am determined to relax more maybe not even use OPK.
