Hi any new starters on clomid
I just started my first round of clomid 50mg (3-7) had my scan on day 12 , two mature follicles on right and small one on left.
Had no side effects from taking clomid, but ovulation was so painful that I could hardly walk.

Would love to hear from other people there experience on clomid ..

Been trying for 3 years, miscarriage last year at 4 months, I do ovulate but not enough to substation a pregnancy, hence the clomid .hubby is fine with his sperm.. Am levels are low as well

Birchygoo - I had children with my XH but none with my current partner so we have to pay privately same hospital and everything they said after I started my AF I was to phone for scan appt for CD 2/3 which was today then have to have another one on CD 10 or thereabouts to check how many eggs have been produced I'm guessing as they spent ages today telling me if I released to many they would recommend using barrier methods this cycle (feel that would somehow defeat the object!) I was ovulting pre Clomid they were just unsure as to how effectively as my cycle was anything between 28-35 days also as I'm 39 they were concerned about egg quality so hoping given they mentioned 5 start up follicles that they are not going to suggest not trying this cycle as can't see that going down to well with OH lol!

Jackster- I will keep my fingers crossed for you good luck!

So my doctor has just rung with my 21 day progesterone blood results,it's 82 which he said is excellent, anything over 30 is classed as ovulation......

Before clomid my progesterone was 16 then the following month was 80, so I don't ovulate every month, hence why I was put on clomid, but I still wasn't getting pregnant when I was ovulating and using the clear blue advanced monitor...

Will see if the witch turns up in 2 days

ooh I never had a day2/3 scan - was this through the NHS? My first one is cd13. Seems like ages away yet! CD5 today

coribeth · 11/08/2015 12:22

Brichygoo- good luck hope all goes well for you still can't shift this headache but can cope with it unless it gets worse! Had my first day two/ three scan this morning I asked loads of questions but they were a bit non committal but apparently there are 5 start up follicles on one ovary but nothing on the other side so as wasn't getting solid answers not sure if that's normal good or bad she said the mid cycle scan would tell her more!

birchygoo · 11/08/2015 09:41

coribeth - good luck with your clomid cycle. I have just taken my 3rd tablet last night. I take it before bed but I did notice some palpitations but they did not last that long thankfully. I also had coke so I did actually put the palpitations down to that.

I want to be hopeful for myself this cycle but don't want to get my hopes up too much. I have my mid cycle scan next week so I am counting down the days to that to see what is happening!

coribeth · 10/08/2015 22:51

Took my first Clomid 50mg this morning have been TTC for 3 years with no luck so I have everything crossed and am hopeful it will work as my cycle is rather irregular 28_35 days and my partner has marginally low motility the side effects however I have to say where awful approx twenty minutes after taking my heart started to pound and had massive hot flush and dizziness felt very faint only lasted a couple of minutes but was scary then could not stay awake literally slept till 3.30 which is not at all like me and have been having a horrendous headache and all sweaty ever since bit worried about tomorrows pill but will be taking at night this time hopeful be worth it in the end!

jackstar thanks i hope they grow iv been TTC for over 2years now and im really feeling low :( hopefully AF wont show and it will be a little surprise instead!

banananfish hugs back - and its just so hard they just dont understand the worst part is they try to be just cant :(

and iv read somewhere that once you ovulate clomid completely leaves the body so not sure if that could be causing it... but all these different injected hormones along with our natural hormones are bound to have some sort of impact so maybe its that...

x

VixxFace · 10/08/2015 17:29

peardrops me too! They said that they expected to see something with that thickness of womb lining.

bananafish81 · 10/08/2015 17:28

redannie amazing story!

jackster keeping fx for you

peardrops massive hugs! I can so relate. I ended up fleeing a friend's baby naming ceremony early as I just couldn't take all the new mums and babies.

I triggered on Weds so should be 3 dpo today.

Not sure if it's delayed effect of the Clomid, or my body experiencing the brand new effects of progesterone for the first time (dunno if I have ever definitely ovulated before - and big follicle presumably means bigger corpus luteum and higher progesterone?) but I've been getting the most stonking hot flashes the last couple of days.

And last couple of days I've gone from feeling quite positive to weepy and massive moodswings. Not sure whether it's the hormones I've put in to my body or the effect of hormones my body has rarely if ever produced before, as a result of taking those hormones!!

VixxFace · 10/08/2015 17:28

redannie how much did you take and congratulations Grin

Jackster123 · 10/08/2015 17:15

Redannie....that gives me hope, that is what I live for now....

Peardrop...good luck with scan, maybe you ovulate late, they say follicles grow 2mm per day,I also took mine at nite

I'm on cycle 23, before clomid my cycle was 25 days ,I can feel the witch is coming, don't know if cycle will be longer now that I'm on clomid..just waiting for 21 day progesterone results

How's every one else doing ? ????

Your womb lining is thickened so that's good.

Mine has thickened but no follicles. have to go back Friday again. They will discuss whether I should do self funded iui or 150 mg of clomid.

Peardrops3 · 10/08/2015 15:35

Hi Ladies

so iv had a awful weekend just crying at all silly opportunities... hope everyone elses is ok? i had to go to a wedding on sunday where everyone was showing off their new babies and as much as they are lovely i just felt awful and wanted to run away! its bad right? i know i should be happy for them its just so hard!

anyway so iv just had my 3rd scan and my lining has thickened from 4.9mm to 6.5mm and my largest follicles are only 10.1mm which doc is a little concerned about as they are growing but very very slowly i mean im day 14 today and still no sign of a egg! SO im booked in for another scan on thursday afternoon so fingers crossed one of these follicles grows!

@birchygoo - good luck with clomid and i took mine at night too for the same reason :) hopefully this round will lead to a bfp for you :)

x

birchygoo · 09/08/2015 23:06

how did everyone get on over the weekend?

I have now taken my 2nd clomid tablet. Im taking them at night time as I read somewhere that you are then more likely to sleep through any symptoms.

bananafish81 · 08/08/2015 23:17

birchygoo good luck! Don't seem to remember the packet saying anything about interaction between clomid and alcohol but I'm not a doctor or a pharmacist so I'd check the leaflet to be sure!

bunny welcome!!

Hope your journey on clomid is short and you get your bfp soon. Is your cycle being monitored?

Re: my weirdo bloods, it's a nice thought but the light bleed was 2 weeks after ovulation Sad. I had a positive OPK and ovulation pain and then my temperature rose the day after the positive OPK and stayed up for 14 days after which my very light AF came. Consultant reckoned that def sounded like a proper cycle but poss that thin lining meant I didn't have a proper bleed. Long term use of the pill can thin the lining....but what didn't quite add up was that my bleeds when on the pill, whilst still light, were heavier than my first natural period (5 weeks after my withdrawal bleed). The pill suppresses the building up of the lining, but didn't stack up that my bleed off the pill should have been lighter than when I was on it...

I was on a double dose of the pill because my epilepsy meds can interact with hormonal contraception, so consultant thinks could possibly be that the various medications have wreaked havoc and haven't yet regulated. Said PCOS doesn't just go away! Even though that seems exactly what looks like it's happened - seemingly along with loads of my eggs!!

So fuck knows what's been going on with my body tbh.

I know some recent studies showed that the pill did have an effect on AMH and antral follicle count - making ovaries look 'older' than they actually were, incl for several months after stopping the pill. I'm clinging on to the hope that my double packing the pills is what's made my ovaries look so geriatric!!!

Bunnykins15 · 08/08/2015 22:17

Hi all, I am probably going to start clomid soon, it's helpful to read about all your experiences so far

bananafish I wonder if your recent bloods were actually not day 3 bloods after all - you say you had a light period after 2 weeks, perhaps if this was actually some sort of breakthrough bleed and you ended up having bloods around day 14 (two weeks after coming off the pill), coinciding with when you get the pre-ovulatory spike in FSH and LH? That could explain why your level was higher than expected for day 3. Not sure I can explain the AMH though.....

birchygoo · 08/08/2015 21:37

oh can you drink alcohol on clomid - I'd love a wee drink now!

birchygoo · 08/08/2015 21:37

just took my first clomid tablet! am quite frightened Confused dh is freaking about twins haha

bananafish81 · 08/08/2015 16:00

Omg jackster I'm appalled. I'm fuming about how you've been treated - both what they did and how they handled it. I would def follow that up with the surgery to understand what was done by whom and why. Disgusting treatment!

Hi peardrop! Clomid is a bit of a double edged sword. As my consultant explained it, there's three parts to conceiving. Having an egg, getting it fertilised and the embryo implanting.

Clomid helps with the first one but in some - not all - women it can make the first two more difficult by drying up cervical mucus (so it's harder for the sperm to get to the egg) and thinning the lining (making it more difficult for a fertilised egg to implant). It's an oestrogen blocker which kicks production of FSH into gear - to hopefully stimulate follicle development - but as it's oestrogen that's responsible for the production of fertile CM and the lining thickening up in the run up to ovulate, in some women (like me) it can make us ovulate but make it more difficult to actually get pregnant Sad

He said supplementary oestrogen could be prescribed to help mitigate this, taken after the course of Clomid but before ovulation - so maybe ask your Dr if that's appropriate for you for your next cycle? X

VixxFace · 08/08/2015 15:39

jackster that's terrible don't they realise how much of an up and down it is to just get the tests and not even the baby. What is your next step?

VixxFace · 08/08/2015 15:37

Jackster that's strange but good that you are at least getting follicles growing.

My womb lining went from 3mm to 10 mm in 6 days but NO follicles.

birchygoo · 08/08/2015 14:57

OMG Jackster - I actually can't believe that, who ordered your d21 test? and did they suggest getting it done at your GP? That is shocking!

Was it the lab that threw it away? and the message just came back through your GP as why did GP take the blood then just to throw it away?
