Looking for like-minded mums to be who are taking things as they come and fancy a friendly chat along the way.

I'm 36 and just started ttc my second. My ds is 28 mo and I still bf him once a day, most days. I understand this may affect my fertility but, although a three-ish year age gap would be nice, I'm a long way from worrying about it at this early stage. It took me a year of trying (and a mc) before ds came along so I already know what it's like to wait for good things!

Technically I'm not charting or anything (wouldn't know how) just counting roughly 10 days into my cycle and dtd as much as reasonable (!) around that time.

It might not be the most dynamic way of ttc but it suits me for now Smile

I love that you're blogging about TTC breaking, there's definitely still a taboo about blogging about it because people say it's too much information, but I think more people need to speak about it :)

My blog isn't anonymous in the least which is the only reason why we haven't spoken about TTC on there Grin all my friends would be waiting for an announcement every time we meet up Grin

Breakingupwithcontraception · 20/09/2015 17:14

Hey Santa Clause and Jorah,
Thanks for the welcome. And for the translation- trying to have a baby seems to come with a LOT of acronyms and some are harder to work out than others! Completely get why you wouldn't want to go public on TTC Jorah- I think I'd feel the same but I'm blogging anonymously because wanted to be able to talk about stuff that is still vaguely taboo (though shouldn't be cos prob happens to a lot of us) without backlash. I hope the MRI goes well, and thanks for the follow. Santa - thanks for the interest too, it might not be to everyone's taste but seems to be going down well with people who like things wry and non nonsense! Xx

MrsSantaClause · 20/09/2015 15:08

Welcome breaking! Your blog sounds like a great idea-will go and have a look!

Congrats notro-hopefully congrats will be coming your way too soon Tamara! When can you test?

It's awful having to wait isn't it Jorah-hopefully all your tests will be fine and you can get back on it asap Smile

jorahmormont · 20/09/2015 14:16

Sorry to hear you've had a UTI Tamara. I didn't realise I was knocked up with DD until I was six weeks because I wrote it off as a UTI, so sounds hopeful!

I'm feeling really impatient. I just want it over and done with and to get on with TTC, but I know October will be out for us too as I'll still have to wait for results after the MRI :( so it'll be November at the earliest before we can TTC :(

Welcome breaking, UTI stands for Urinary Tract Infection. I've followed your blog! I haven't posted that we're TTC on mine yet, especially now we're taking this break.

Breakingupwithcontraception · 20/09/2015 13:53

Ps. What does UTI mean? And I hop you are feeling less grotty now

Breakingupwithcontraception · 20/09/2015 13:53

Thanks for the friendly welcome Tamara, much appreciated.
Doing OK this end, although I succumbed the my inner worrier and bought some ovulation tests. Already regretting it - not least cos I've been on the pill for 10 years and only off it one month so who knows what kind of confusion my poor little ovaries are in without the extra pressure of tests!

Tamara160 · 20/09/2015 11:04

Sorry to hear your TWW has been rubbish Anna, it's bad enough without feeling rubbish. Mine hasn't been great either, UTI and now a stinking cold. I'm hoping these are some weird signs that I may have conceived!

Glad to hear the line has been getting darker Notro! Congrats Smile

Welcome Breaking! This thread is relaxed and without all of the complicated lingo and charting. I don't know of any blogs though i'm afraid.

How's everyone doing?

Breakingupwithcontraception · 20/09/2015 00:21

Hello,

Hope it's OK to join in and ask a question of you guys?

This seemed like a pretty active TTC thread so thought there might be a lot of wisdom in here. I've relied on the internet for advice for far too long and it's finally let me down. The boy and I got married this summer and are trying for a baby.

I wanted to read some blogs on the topic but really struggled to find anything engaging or entertaining. There was a lot of either super factual stuff (yes, I know I need to have more sex!) or just kind of patronising. I know pregnancy is a serious topic but personally I prefer a light-touch. It's bad enough having to pee on sticks and think in cycles.

Does anyone have any good recommendations they can share? Eternal gratitude and emoji beverages of your choice guaranteed.

If anyone else is feeling the same way and wants a laugh at my expense, I started a blog recently to help me stay sane and see the funny side of things. It's at www.breakingupwithcontraception.com and is basically a frank, irreverent account of trying to get knocked up.

X

Third day in a row testing and the line is still there and looks to be getting darker. Can't quite believe it as I'm 39 and thought it was going to take ages to concieved. Still not letting myself get too excited as there is a long way to go.

jorahmormont · 19/09/2015 20:41

Hope you've had a stronger line notro!

Sorry to hear about your BFN Anna but it's still early days! Sorry to hear your TWW has been rubbish.

Sorry to hear about withdrawal bleed MrsSanta :(

Thank you for the good luck wishes. I miss sex Hmm

Annarose2014 · 19/09/2015 20:35

9dpo and horribly carsick this evening. So queasy I've taken myself to bed.

BFN this morning with a first response. Angry

AF not due for another 4 days. This has been a rotten TWW - all sick & crampy. I'm pretty fed up with it!

MrsSantaClause · 19/09/2015 07:25

Spoke too soon about not getting withdrawal bleed-have had (sorry tmi) brown sludgy stuff all week, and now bright red. We're going to a wedding today, so unlikely that we'll be able to dtd Angry

Tamara160 · 18/09/2015 18:30

Jorah I hope it's nothing serious and you can get cracking with ttc again!

Ooo Notro, I hope the line is a bit stronger but it sounds hopeful anyway. Smile

MrsSantaClause · 18/09/2015 08:37

Did you test again today notro? Hope you got a more definite line!

Good luck to you jorah-hope all your tests go ok and you can carry on ttc Smile

Notrobusta · 17/09/2015 06:51

Hi all. I've been holding off testing until today as AF due . think there is a very faint second line on internet cheapie but can't be sure and don't want to get my hopes up. With my last pregnancy there was a very strong line immediately. Trying not to get too excited. Guess its a matter of wait and see and maybe test again tomorrow?

jorahmormont · 16/09/2015 22:13

Hope everyone is doing well. I know I said we were taking a break, but having re-evaluated the situation, we want DC2 so badly that we are going to carry on and TTC starting next month, once all of this is over (the 'ovarian' cyst turned out to not actually be on my ovary; it is a mass on my small bowel near my appendix - I have an MRI at the end of the month to find out what it is, and then we're going ahead with TTC if all is well :) )

Tamara160 · 16/09/2015 21:32

Congratulations on the wedding! Oh yes, it's always nice to have a sibling close in age.
A bit of time to yourselves, especially at a wedding will be lovely for you. Hopefully it'll help the baby making!! Fingers crossed this is your lucky month!

I'm feeling much better today, I think the tablets are kicking in!

MrsSantaClause · 15/09/2015 22:13

Hi Tamara, yes already have 3 dc, so this will hopefully be no. 4! Shock I already had 2 before I met my Dh-we got married last year (at Xmas) so have 1 together. There's quite a big gap between my two and our youngest so would like for my him to have someone else nearer his own age before the others leave home. We haven't actually did yet since I had the coil taken out but we're going to a wedding at the weekend without the children so might get a chance then. I also haven't a clue where I am in my cycle as haven't been getting any AF whilst I had the coil so I'm not expecting anything in the first month.

Hope your infection clears up quickly! X

Tamara160 · 15/09/2015 20:43

Thanks Annarose. I've been to the docs today and they've given me a weeks worth of penicillin. I feel happier now that it's getting sorted.
Ahh symptom spotting is the worst! I had a small amount of bleeding yesterday but I suspect it's the infection but there was a small part of me that thought 'implantation!!'. My left boob hurt a bit today and yesterday I had a funny taste in my mouth, but that could be due to the huge amount of cranberry juice I've been necking!
I hope your aches are implantation though Anna!

Fingers crossed for you Decca!

Hi MrsSantaClause! Love the name btw! Ttc is so exciting but the most frustrating time ever! Do you have any children or is this your first time? I have no children yet and this is my 2nd month of trying.

MrsSantaClause · 15/09/2015 15:45

Oh no-that's what I'm Not Looking Forward To! Haven't had any withdrawal bleeding or pain so far, it's almost too good to be true ??

Annarose2014 · 15/09/2015 15:32

Ooh best of luck! I had my Mirena removed and had a massive period the following week. Wasn't impressed with that!

But I was pregnant 2 wks later! Grin

I feel rather rough today. Mildly crampy again. Am starting to suspect something might be starting to stir......

MrsSantaClause · 15/09/2015 15:09

Hi all, do you mind if I join-have been lurking for a bit Grin

Had my coil removed yesterday so ready to go now Smile

DeccaMitford · 15/09/2015 07:17

I'm waiting to see when AF turns up now. Don't think I ov'd this month but she'll pobably turn up late like last month to give me false hope, the fickle cow!

Annarose2014 · 14/09/2015 23:38

By the way, take Cystopurin sachets for the infection. A UTI is dangerous during pregnancy so its best to chase it away quickly and Cystopurin works within a couple of days. You can get it over the counter.

Annarose2014 · 14/09/2015 23:36

Enjoy the wine millie! Thank God for wine!

Tamara I'm 4 days in according to Clue, but I'm not sure if its accurate as I don't get ovulation pains or track it with sticks etc. Its about 9/10 days till AF, I know that, as its been pretty regular +/- a day.

I have dull cramps all day. Well really only the one cramp which won't go away. I've had it about 10 hours now. Very low down in the middle so its in the uterus area. Its not bowel related (sorry, lol) so my imagination is whispering that its implantation pain but I'm trying to chase that thought away!

Symptom spotting is just the worst. I never ever get spots and today I suddenly got a massive one on my chin out of nowhere which of course now I wonder is a symptom. Aaaaahhhh!
