Looking for like-minded mums to be who are taking things as they come and fancy a friendly chat along the way.

I'm 36 and just started ttc my second. My ds is 28 mo and I still bf him once a day, most days. I understand this may affect my fertility but, although a three-ish year age gap would be nice, I'm a long way from worrying about it at this early stage. It took me a year of trying (and a mc) before ds came along so I already know what it's like to wait for good things!

Technically I'm not charting or anything (wouldn't know how) just counting roughly 10 days into my cycle and dtd as much as reasonable (!) around that time.

It might not be the most dynamic way of ttc but it suits me for now Smile

Ooh it's getting busier in here Smile

DS was conceived after 4 months of trying. Having been on the pill for years and had v irregular cycles before that we just winged it that time! But since having DS my cycles have been bang on 28 days or just under, so that's why I've been curious about when I ov, hence using the opks.

After a load of inconsistent opk results I was going to give it up, but I thought I might as well use the box up and got a full on smiley face this morning, having dtd last night, so fingers crossed.

Just going to let nature take its course from now on, but if the test is right I am probably ov later in cycle than expected so will bear that in mind next time (if there is one!) but not stress over it.

Hope those were false AFs Dubai and JustMe, and that everyone else is feeling happy and excited too!

Reebok · 03/08/2015 19:33

notro I have never done charting or ovulation sticks or anything when TTC...just kind of left my body to it. I guess roughly what period I ovulate as I'm quite regular (although this time it's harder as I have just mc)...must admit I am a symptom spotter though!!! Think we all are!! I blame those awful tww!

Reebok · 03/08/2015 19:30

Thanks darkpandora.
Stress definitely affects my cycle! Started getting discharge a few days ago (sorry tmi) so figured it might mean ovulation as I stopped bleeding last week so decided to have a go at dtd! Lol Really want to go back to work in September (I'm a teacher) and be pregnant again...dreading it if I'm not as two of my colleagues are pregnant. But I guess not much I can do. What will be will be right!

Notrobusta · 03/08/2015 17:42

Can I join too please. TTC number 3 with a large age gap. This is cycle number two and desperately trying to be casual. Is anyone else finding it difficult to not start taking it all a bit to seriously ? Determined not to start temping etc but already symptom spotting like mad.

darkpandora · 03/08/2015 16:24

Welcome Reebok so sorry to hear about your MC's will keep my fingers crossed you get your BFP as soon as possible.
I have heard Sometimes the relaxed approach has better results because stress can stop ovulation or mess it up do you think this is correct?

I am also hoping we all get our BFP's soon and we can all celebrate together Grin

Reebok · 03/08/2015 15:49

Hi can I join?

TTC number 2. My little girl has just turned two. I was pregnant but mc 2 weeks ago. DH and I have decided to start TTC right away but taking a relaxed approach and just dtd. No charting or anything. We took the same approach with our daughter as I mc three months prior to conceiving her. Waited 3 months and got pregnant with her straight away. Hoping I will be just as lucky this time.

No idea when or if I will even ovulate this cycle because of the mc. Fc we all get our bfps soon!

darkpandora · 03/08/2015 15:29

Tamara I agree with Justme just say that you haven't got the finances to be able to join and that your really sorry.
I have found myself doing a similar thing, I'm a member of an adult drama group and we have a pantomime at the end of the year then after Christmas we do another show I keep wondering whether I should drop out of panto or to stay cause if I fall pregnant I will be unable to do very much but if I don't I will miss out on performing and I love doing shows.

Ah the planning we all have to do eh?

JustMeAndTheDog · 03/08/2015 15:12

Do you think you can just say it's a finances thing instead? If it's expensive anyway I'm sure they will understand? It is difficult to know what to do for the best. You're not going to be able to go if you're due around then but don't want to fork out the deposit etc in the interim

Tamara160 · 03/08/2015 14:56

Dark it's really worth going to see live stand up. The atmosphere is great! I hope your test results don't take too long to come through.

I've just been asked to go on a hen do in May, which sounds amazing but if I fall pregnant this month, then I'll be due then. Trouble is I need to confirm in the next 2 weeks if i'm going and pay the deposit. I've said that I'll have to confirm later in the month. But, if i'm not successful this month then i'm going to keep trying, so either way I won't be able to go. Plus it's expensive!

Sorry for the ramble ladies, i'm umming and ahhing over whether I've made the right choice. Confused

darkpandora · 03/08/2015 14:03

Good afternoon ladies

How's everyone doing today?

Justme and dubai I have my fingers crossed you are both experiencing implantation and AF stays away Smile

I had a blood test today which I was not happy about cause I'm a total needlephobe so just need to wait for the test results now.

Glad you had a great time at Alan Carr tamara I really have to go see a live stand up one day I love comedians. Grin

JustMeAndTheDog · 03/08/2015 13:53

I think I'm in a similar situation Dubai though not sure if my body just has the crazies. AF should have been Friday but I only had some brown spotting Fri and Sat but nothing since. Last week I had a tiny bit of red blood but that's it. I did a test on 11dpo and it was BFN. Now on cd37? Not sure if it's me being crazy?

lostindubai · 03/08/2015 06:46

I was due on yesterday so thought it was a day early, but it did feel unusual. I don't remember getting an implantation bleed last time around so nothing to compare it to. Apparently a lot of people can mistake it for AF. If that's what it was then I can see why! I suppose a test is the next step - will pick one up in the next couple of days. Eek!

I'm only taking folic acid at the moment Pandora. Once I'm officially pregnant I might move on to pregnancy vits but will depend if it affects breastfeeding. Would have to check with GP.

Glad you enjoyed Alan Tamara!

Go for it Zumba! Enjoy that cheeky prosecco!

ooo Dubai It sounds like it could be! Exciting! I hope you're right, keep us updated!

I feel the same darkpandora, it's nice to have others to talk to that are in the same boat as you.

Alan Carr was great by the way Grin x

darkpandora · 02/08/2015 23:12

Hey Zumbait is getting busy I'm so glad I have people I can talk to don't feel so alone now I think sometimes it takes other people joining for people to have the confidence to join I was like that Smile

dubai ooh exciting! When are you actually due on? I hope AF stays away for you and that's what it is when will you test?

I'm off to bed as have a blood test early in the morning. night ladies take care x Smile

lostindubai · 02/08/2015 22:39

Yes Zumba, we're getting busy in here, great isn't it! Enjoy that prosecco.

Well strange things are happening here. AF didn't stay very long, just yesterday afternoon in fact. I've had (TMI) a slight amount of brownish discharge today and I'm now wondering if it could be implantation bleeding?? So those wedding drinks may be on hold after all Confused

Elllimam you said AF came early for you too. Any chance it could be the same?

MrsZumbaDancer · 02/08/2015 21:18

Tamara160 · 02/08/2015 17:44

InFrance sorry to hear about your MC, fingers crossed this time works out for you.

Justme, no never seen him live before. I can't wait, his DVDs make me cry!

Elllimam, how disappointing! I hope next cycle is successful for you.

Lostindubai - big relief on the wine front! Grin I hope I don't go off meat though, i'd be gutted! Curtain shopping excites me, i'm already thinking about new curtains for our living room and I haven't finished stripping the wallpaper yet!

Darkpandora - I love it too! I think i'm taking too much pleasure in ripping it off the walls!

darkpandora · 02/08/2015 16:46

waves to everybody

Welcome InFrance and Ellimam

So sorry about your MC InFrance I've also heard that you are more fertile after a MC so I will be keeping my fingers crossed for a BFP for you

What conception vits is everybody taking me and my OH are going shopping Tuesday for everything we both need and I'm not sure what it is I'm meant to be taking there's so many different ones. Confused

lostindubai · 02/08/2015 16:14

Hi InFrance and Elllimam lovely to see you on here!

InFrance I'm so sorry about your mc. I had one AF after mine then started trying again and voila, conceived first time. Apparently after a mc or a birth are the most fertile times, so fx for you.

Re caffeine: during my entire pregnancy I couldn't touch tea and I'm usually a big tea drinker. So I stuck to fruit infusions which are also lovely (and kept me warm during the winter!) They recommend no more than two cups a day during pregnancy and while breastfeeding so while I started drinking it again after ds' birth, I now only drink decaf tea. Even on two cups a day I got huge caffeine withdrawal headaches so thought it best just to give up.

Interestingly I also went off alcohol so it wasn't a struggle to stop drinking (although while ttc I didn't really change my habits - a glass of wine with dinner a couple of times a week so nothing major). I also went right off chicken and beef mince, and have never really liked them since. Pleased to say I do enjoy wine again though Grin

DP and I went shopping for curtains today. My exciting life hehe!

Hello can I join too? I'm 34 ttc number 3, we have a 2.6 year old and a 1 year old. Af turned up yesterday :( wasn't due on until Monday.

JustMeAndTheDog · 02/08/2015 15:27

Welcome In! Sorry about your MC.

Thanks ladies, I've started on the seven seas but not AC. I did try soy isoflavones as I read that they shortened a cycle but it only made a diff by a day but made me feel awful!

Haha the coffee move sounds wise Tamara! DH will have to deal with cold turkey + hormones Confused Have you seek Alan Carr live before? He's very funny!

We went out for Sunday lunch and now the dog and I are resting on the sofa Wink

InFrance2014 · 02/08/2015 14:45

Hello, may I join in? I've been lurking in TTC for a while but the other threads are so busy, I can't keep up, plus I'm not doing all the temping stuff (yet...).

My background: I'm 34 with one daughter who is 16.5 months; although planned, she was conceived very haphazardly after being on pill for a decade (didn't even know I was pregnant until 15 weeks!).
Have been TTC again since February for No2, got pregnant in April but had a miscarriage in early June. Got back at it immediately on Drs advice as scan showed ovulation but no joy that month, and am now in this month's two week wait. Not sure how that works out re: number of cycles!

I have a very demanding job so apologies in advance for not being able to post very frequently, but would really appreciate somewhere to chat with others taking a non-technical approach, as none of my friends are TTC again yet. Hopefully I can share in your BFPs too Smile

darkpandora · 02/08/2015 14:38

Ooh I love stripping wallpaper think there's a little part of me deep inside that likes being destructive lol enjoy Alan Carr he is hilariousGrin I'm doing nothing today probably gonna jump in the shower and then chill and watch some TV - exciting(!) Hmm

Tamara160 · 02/08/2015 14:33

Justme, I hope AF turns up for you soon. Have you tried Agnus cactus or started taking the seven seas trying for a baby vitamins? I've heard good things about both and take seven seas myself. Might be worth a shot.

Coming off the coffee was a struggle for me! I thought if I do it before I get pregnant, then maybe I won't have as many mood swings haha! I feel loads better for it now to be honest, as I used to mainline it! Shock

Today I have been stripping wallpaper in the living room - very satisfying! Later, DH and I are going to see Alan Carr Grin

darkpandora · 02/08/2015 14:02

Think the next wedding I go to will probably be my own in a few years.

JustMe My cycle was crazy when I got off the pill 3 years ago it took ages to settle, but it did sort of settle my cycle is now either 31 days or 34 days had a few come earlier or a bit later but generally it's one of the two. Will probably be the only time I say this but I hope Af arrives soon for you so you can get on and try Smile
