Looking for like-minded mums to be who are taking things as they come and fancy a friendly chat along the way.

I'm 36 and just started ttc my second. My ds is 28 mo and I still bf him once a day, most days. I understand this may affect my fertility but, although a three-ish year age gap would be nice, I'm a long way from worrying about it at this early stage. It took me a year of trying (and a mc) before ds came along so I already know what it's like to wait for good things!

Technically I'm not charting or anything (wouldn't know how) just counting roughly 10 days into my cycle and dtd as much as reasonable (!) around that time.

It might not be the most dynamic way of ttc but it suits me for now Smile

Sugarlump I'm so sorry to hear that! AF is a b*tch.

SugarLumpFairy · 06/08/2015 08:20

af today, although I know it's more than that after implantation yesterday. Gutted doesn't even begin to describe how I feel. I'm so glad I can get sone much needed support here!

applecatchers36 · 06/08/2015 07:37

Welcome Sugarlump and Cakelady and yay love the idea of a grads thread Dubai

CakeLady456 · 06/08/2015 00:42

Hello! Can I join in too please! First time TTC (even had to google what that stood for!) and realising it's a minefield! Oh and congrats on the BFP! (Had to google that too!)

lostindubai · 05/08/2015 22:22

Oops forgot to say hello SeriousStuff! Welcome to the thread.

I'm going to stick around as I'd love to see you guys get your BFPs and maybe we can have a grads thread one day!

Aww thanks for all your lovely messages! It's so nice to have lots of people to celebrate with Grin

Pleased to say my migraine was not too heavy and I feel fine now.

Reebok in answer to your questions we only started trying this month and I didn't notice any ovulation signs at all. We started dtd every other day from about day 6 of my cycle for around two weeks (cycle usually 28 days) and tbh it was hard work! We were both exhausted from trying to get the house finished in time for the holiday so I really didn't think anything would happen! The only early pregnancy symptom I got was the need to pee more frequently than usual. Until I got that short bleed I thought it was game over. I feel so incredibly lucky I can't tell you.

Welcome SugarLumpFairy! Oo I hope it is implantation, fingers crossed for you!

Ahh Reebok, I hope the PMS settles down for you. It's awful feeling so snappy and not really being sure why. I've swung from being almost giddily happy to wanting to sob my heart out, again no idea why! Just hormones as usual lol!

Decca, i'm totally with you on the baby clothes front. They make me all soppy and cooey and teary lol. DH hates it when we walk past any in a shop as I always stop and stroke them haha!

SugarLumpFairy · 05/08/2015 21:28

Sorry, in my excitement at using the app (shows how dull things must be for me at the moment! ) I posted the same message twice. Just ignore as appropriate. I'll get the hang of it soon....

SugarLumpFairy · 05/08/2015 21:21

Congratulations lostindubai, what amazing news. I will indeed be joining you - was having problems with using the mumsnet website on my phone but just downloaded the app. I had what might be implantation bleeding today, although a week before af due, so more waiting.... I too am taking a relaxed approach, although I agree it's so hard once you start paying attention to dates and symptoms! Fingers crossed for everyone x

Haha decca here's hoping!
Think I have a serious case of pms! I'm snapping at my DH non stop today and I'm not even sure why. Just feel so angry and annoyed by him!!!

Feeling these odd bubbly type feelings now in my uterus. Not had it before so think AF is well and truly on its way. Dreading it!!!

DeccaMitford · 05/08/2015 20:18

My DS has really, really been pushing my limits today, grrrr! Daddy is putting him to bed now, phew.

My friend has just had her 2nd baby so I went shopping for cute baby clothes, felt a bit gooey about the prospect of maybe doing some shopping if my own again soon...! I basically got through the boredom of 9 months of waiting last time by buying baby clothes, haha. Even had a spreadsheet to log my purchases (more interesting than my real job!)

Reebok · 05/08/2015 18:53

Welcome seriousstuff. Hope you find this thread useful.

I'm absolutely shattered today. My LO is exhausting!! Actually sat here pondering once again whether it's a good idea ttc. On top of it keep getting these strange shooting pains on my left and right. Not sure if it means ovulation as I still don't know when I'm due to ovulate after my mc...far too tired to even think about dtd!

applecatchers36 · 05/08/2015 18:40

Wowzers dubai that's wonderful news, hope your migraine goes away & you get a rest before the morning sickness starts Wink, have a nice Brew and put your feet up..

Hope everyone else had a good day..

darkpandora · 05/08/2015 16:52

Welcome SeriousStuff nice to have you on board we are very relaxed on here so you will fit right in. We have vowed to keep others calm and stop the obsession if it takes hold lol Grin If you fit in a few more DTD then I think you will have a good chance it only takes one after all Smile

I'm not charting or calculating at all this is my first ever time TTC so don't 100% understand all of that just letting nature take its course and seeing what happens.

SeriousStuff · 05/08/2015 15:32

We've sort of started TTC for #2. I'm 34 and we have one DD who is 22 months. Not planning on starting seriously until beginning of Nov but have taken a very relaxed approach to protection in the last few weeks. Would rather it just happened to be honest, rather than have to chart and calculate everything...we DTD last on 2nd Aug and most fertile period I think should be 7th - 10th so I guess it could take hold. Trying not to think too much about it but here I am on mumsnet again!

darkpandora · 05/08/2015 14:13

Hey everyone hows everyone doing today?

OMG! Yay congrats dubai I'm so happy for you Grin sorry to hear about the migraine though migraines suck so much, hope it goes away for you soon.

MC's sound like the most awful thing to go through I'm so sorry so many have experienced this I hope nobody on here has to go through that again.

Can't wait till we can all join Dubai with all our BFP's and celebrate together Smile

Hope everyone has a good day today

DeccaMitford · 05/08/2015 12:29

Don't know where my earlier post when so I'll try again...

Congratulations dubai !!

Have some celebratory Cake xx

Tamara160 · 05/08/2015 10:53

Ahhh Dubai!! Congratulations!! What fantastic news! Flowers I hope your migraine goes soon and stays away.
What a fab start to the day!

Reebok · 05/08/2015 10:39

Thanks Tamara...hopefully!

Dubai your post put a massive smile on my face!!! Congrats!!! Lovely to see a BFP on the group...given me some hope. Here's to a happy and healthy 9 months. Out of curiosity, how long did you try for and did you have any symptoms or ovulation pain during ovulation?

lostindubai · 05/08/2015 09:21

Hello and welcome DrGee Smile Thanks for explaining about Mr Whippy that sounds really bad.

Well ladies I've done my test and I've hit the jackpot! BFP!!

My joy has been slightly (but only slightly) marred by the fact I got a migraine warning this morning and I spoke to the Dr and I should avoid taking my Imigran while pregnant. First migraine in ages too. Last minute packing, taking the cats to the cattery, getting the house in order for the new carpets to go in should all be marvellous fun with a migraine! It's just starting to creep in now. Last time I got pregnant my migraines stopped completely so I hoped it would be the same this time. What a strange and wonderful and confusing thing the human body is!

Hope you all have a fab day. Looking forward to you all joining me with the BFPs very soon!

Hi DrGee!

Yes Decca I am living in France. Got pregnant literally the week I arrived for new job but didn't know until 15 weeks later... I experienced the French system of pregnancy, antenatal classes and giving birth which is rather different to the UK...

Re mc (TMI)- I didn't have large amounts of blood some people talk about but I think its because it wasn't too far on. The pain was very much like early/mid-labour pain, but for me it only was bad like that for about an hour, a couple of days into it. Otherwise it was like bad period cramps. I really believe that there should be more information in general about mc- of course, I came to MN to find out stuff; fingers crossed nobody needs it, but the MC area here is very useful in the "OMG is this normal I have no idea" way. It's amazing when you do start talking to people IRL just how many have experienced it.

Someone was asking earlier about vitamins- I am just on the folic acid right now, I have a massive stock of Pregnacare left but am waiting for the BFP. Smile

I am not even going to POAS this cycle until I am sure I am very late (around Monday/Tuesday next week...). Because in my first pregnancy I missed the early stages, the second time I was very vigilant, and tested three times, the third one because I had started spotting. But then of course, lost it anyway. So now I am going to be ultra non-stressy about it (or try) and not get into early testing, or anything else. I think my ovulation is ok so no need to use tests for that.

Tamara160 · 04/08/2015 23:58

Ahh Reebok don't feel terrible! From the looks of the building there's only been a few of us that have been in. I only went in because I wanted it sorted before my holiday but it was a mistake, I certainly feel less relaxed now that I've seen it!! Shock
I think I may leave it now until towards the end of the holidays, can't do much until the carpet has been shampooed and the previous teachers have been in to clear their stuff.

Hopefully the holidays will have helped the gossip calm down. Fingers crossed you're having ov symptoms!!

Tamara160 · 04/08/2015 23:54

Haha applecatchers that made me laugh! I agree though, it could be either one of them making you snappy!

Hi DrGee! Welcome! I'm very much the same as you, never really paid any attention to my cycle at all until the last few months. Temping etc is so tempting but I think if I do that i'll stress myself out. I'll only look into that if nothing happens in the next few months.
I know what you mean about someone telling you to chill out. There's a huge part of me that's squealing with excitement but there's also another part that' quivering with nerves that something will be wrong with me. It's all starting to make me a bit obsessive! Haha. But you lovely ladies are keeping me sane!

Sorry again for the ramble! Smile

Reebok · 04/08/2015 23:47

RE Mr Whippy...It's something to do with bacteria or something like that. I craved it towards the end of my pregnancy with my daughter...and was a bit naughty and had one on one occasion.

Main things to avoid from what I remember are:
Alcohol, smoking, uncooked eggs or prawns, unpasteurized products so certain soft cheeses, pate, cut down on caffeine...can't remember anything else besides nuts (I was advised against having them as I'm asthmatic).

Welcome drgee...hope you find this group as helpful as I have so far. It's really brought me out of my funk having had my second mc a few weeks back.

Tamara you've already been into school?!!! You're making me feel terrible! I think I will go in towards the end of the hols and sort my room out. Know it will be a tip as I miscarried at the end of term so missed the last week of work. Don't really want to think about going back yet...know people were talking about me as I was off a lot towards the end of the year and probably guessed as my pregnancy history usually results in me disappearing from work for a bit (mc...then pregnancy with hyperemesis...then mc again!)

No dtd for me today. I'm too exhausted! Still unsure if I'm ovulating...had a few cramps, ewcm and some strange shooting pains in my lady bits! This TTC stuff is confusing!!
