Anybody who has weight to loose before starting ttc?

Hi
So this is quite exciting as we have decided to ttc number 2 (number 1 for us) !! I have one dd who is 6 and my partner has one step son who is 15 so this would be our first together.
First though we both want to loose a stone..... anyone in a similar position who wants to buddy up?
I'm just trying to have a home made fruit and coconut milk smoothie for breakfast, salad for lunch, and healthy meat/fish and veg for dinner.....

Hi everyone I commented at the start of the thread that I need to lose weight but had no motivation well today I joined sw so hopefully that will make me have motivation!

lily well done on your first week lose!

Im on phone and can't remember name of person who put on weight? these things happen - I bet it will be off next week. do you find your weight goes up and down with time of month? water retention?

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 29/07/2015 18:37

I'm so upset I put on 2lbs Sadno idea how and the leader was stumped too

lilygirl81 · 29/07/2015 18:07

Week 1 and I'm down 1.5lbs which is good considering my weekend. Hoping I can get 2lbs off next week, I'll not be drinking as in the 2ww from Friday.

lilygirl81 · 29/07/2015 11:17

Beautician Fingers crossed the official scales tell a different story. One thing I normally do is to wear the same clothes each week and make sure to go to the loo before

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 29/07/2015 10:50

Well I've been super good and although I haven't been to class yet I weighed at home this morning and I've put on. How could I possibly have put on. So so annoyed

lilygirl81 · 27/07/2015 16:44

I did not have the most slimming world friendly weekend, probably had a bottle of wine over the 3 days, 2 pain au chocolate, white bread...I could go on. Still, I think I was better than I would normally have been, so that's something. I also managed to get to the swimming pool, and pushed myself up some very steep hills in my wheelchair (got a bit stubborn and refused help!)
Fingers crossed the scales are kind on Wednesday

simplydivine05 · 27/07/2015 13:58

Well I'm now on holiday and being fairly saintly. I think I'm less inclined to over eat because I don't want to undo my hard work. We dtd on Friday and I'm ovulating so a bfp may come my way when we return. I'm still stuck in shall I shan't I over ttc now or waiting until I lose more weight but if I continue procrastinating we'll never have a baby!

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 26/07/2015 09:55

Hi Rainy how did you manage to lose the stone before? I'm sure if you have lost weight previously you can do it again Smile

Rainy34 · 26/07/2015 09:18

Hi girls can i join you, I would like to loose another 10 lb or so, around two years ago i lost over a stone in weight and got down to a nice weight but i have been putting back on the pounds, i would not say that i am over weight but i dont feel comfortable in my clothes anymore

I have been using myfitnesspal to record and log my food in take, i am upping my exercise and trying to drink water instead of fizzy drinks!!

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 25/07/2015 18:12

To be honest I'm struggling now it's the weekend all I want to do is eat

lilygirl81 · 25/07/2015 17:57

I'm finding it ok, but having a bad weekend since I'm at my parents, just about to have a BBQ and the obligatory wine Smile

How's everyone else's weekend going?

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 24/07/2015 18:36

Wow simplydevine you have done so well to lose that much alone.

Lily how are you finding sw

I've been sticking to sw and finding it easy. Although I've got quite a few tummy cramps. Af is due on Sunday though. I keep peeing lots to I was hoping it was a pregnancy symptom but I think it's just all the water and fruit

lilygirl81 · 24/07/2015 09:23

How are you feeling today Lexb14

simplydevine that's an amazing weight loss. It's so hard when you are restricted in movement, I am going swimming which is really helping, although I basically only use my arms and my legs just kind of float. Trying to build up the muscles again in the water to keep things easier. My BMI has gone up to 34.5 which is atrocious.

We decided to just go for it as age isn't on my side, but with slimming world, you can still do it while pregnant, so I think certainly in the first trimester, I will be able to keep losing weight.

I'm rubbish at calorie counting, I think because I am only accountable to myself, rather than having someone else see my weight and how I have done. I also like the social side, looking to find new friends in the area as I got really antisocial when my mobility worsened, hated meeting people in my wheelchair, because they didn't know me when I was a marathon runner.

Tomorrow was a pretty good day, I did have a tiny bit of coconut ice in the afternoon, but it was so sweet I didn't want anything else.

Today is a bit harder, forgot lunch and really trying not to skip meals like I normally do. Might ask my assistant if she can pick me up some fruit or healthy stuff from the shop if she is going anyway.

simplydivine05 · 23/07/2015 08:12

Hello,

I have been losing weight before ttc since March. I have lost 25lbs and have have another 16lbs to go to get to a healthy bmi. Like Lily I also have mobility problems and 14 months in a wheelchair made me pile on 4 stone Shock through not running and comfort eating. I have been back on my feet for about 2 years but cannot do any impact exercise and don't have time to swim. I can do things like pilates but cannot find an instructor who knows how to stop me injuring myself as I have hypermobility syndrome and injure very easily.
I have been calorie counting and it is working really well. I have consistently lost weight every week with it and have not been starving at all. I've had countless meals out and takeaways, had alcohol and chocolate regularly, just had less. I tend to avoid fruit due to the sugar content and I find it doesn't fill me up, so a waste of calories. I tend to stick to vegetables and salad for snacking.
We go on holiday tomorrow so won't be calorie counting at all. My fitness pal has become something of a comfort blanket so going it alone is scary. I anticipate a weight gain but will be straight back on it when we return.
I'm constantly in two minds about ttc. One minute I think stuff it, just go for it. The next I think I need the least amount of pressure on my joints and I want a free rein with birthing options. My bmi is 28 (was 32 when I began), so I'm out of the zone considered high risk, but I know weight is frowned upon and I don't want the third degree. Saying all that, my bmi with ds was 26 when I conceived and then I piled on a load because I saw it as a free for all to eat as I wanted! I was 4 stone heavier after having him although I think I gained a lot after having him and suddenly not running around at work for ten hours a day. I plan on keeping an eye on my eating this time round.
I've not tried sw or ww. Neither have ever appealed and after ds I used calorie counting and running to lose weight very successfully. No point changing what works.

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 23/07/2015 06:39

I went to sw and it wasn't too bad. I need to lose about two stone. I came in last night got all the books out and put a Tesco order in. I've stocked up on loads of free foods. DH commented how I've never got all the books out before and compiled a shopping/ meal list. I think my heads finally in it.

lexb14 · 22/07/2015 21:54

I've had a rubbish afternoon as I suffer from hideous migraines and had one this afternoon and all I feel like doing is eating stodge for some reason it keeps the nausea at bay so I've eaten bread and butter and weetabix and my daughters smarties from her lunch tomorrow Confused

Lying in bed watching one born now

I must get back to sw next week. I just can't find the time at the moment Sad

I am visiting friend and family over weekend so no point in starting now ( I have a no point reason every week) Sad

lilygirl81 · 22/07/2015 19:46

Well, that's me been and stood on the scales, totally horrified! If I lose 10% of my body weight, I will still be above my previous heaviest weight, the weight that made me go to diet clubs in the first place. Still, it's done now and just need to get through a weekend with my parents without drinking too much or eating all the baking my mum will have done.

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 22/07/2015 13:18

I'm dreading weigh in tonight as well Lilly. I'm a bit nervous about class too. Hoping DH makes it home in time or I will have to take 3 dcs with me as well

lilygirl81 · 22/07/2015 13:06

Hi TheJWoman 1 stone down is amazing! well done.

I had a little piece of coconut ice with my mint tea, and I feel really unwell now, clammy, dizzy and a bit sick, so that's put me off sweet stuff for a bit I think.

Terrified about standing on the scales tonight, last time I went I was almost in tears I was so ashamed, this time it is even worse. My big problem is that I used to run...like..really run. I did 2 marathons, ran about 20 miles a week and walked about the same. Then 18 months ago I developed severe problems in my left leg and can hardly walk across the road now. It means I have put on about 2 or 3 stone, and I barely recognise myself. Hoping that if I put a dent in the weight, I will be more able to do things in my wheelchair and I can look at getting involved in wheelchair racing or something like that.

Anyway, good luck to everyone who is on the scales tonight

TheJWoman · 22/07/2015 11:05

May I join?

TTC #1 for around a year, have been advised that I ideally need to lose three stone to be in the best position to conceive. Difficult with PCOS! Overall I would like to try and lose 4-6 stone as that would put me in healthy BMI range.

1 stone down, 2 (or 4!) to go. Recently lost motivation for both weight loss and TTC, though. Angry

Good luck all!

lilygirl81 · 22/07/2015 09:52

He is a long coat Chihuahua, and very cute. We had to get a little dog as I can't walk very far, and if you train them right, they are adorable rather than snappy and yappy Smile

Birchy really do just focus on one meal at a time, and do allow yourself some sort of treat.

I've had a big bowl of 0% fat greek yoghurt and added in a banana and some honey, will see how long that lasts me. On the downside for today, is that before I knew we were trying this month, I ordered a load of super scrummy chocolate and fudge from a girl on facebook, and it arrives today...must not eat it all in one go....may give it to my assistant to guard it from me Smile

lexb14 · 22/07/2015 07:20

Well done Lily - it's so hard when busy at work.
What's your puppy? X

Good luck popcorn ????????
And Birchy just start with a healthy breakfast and lots of water as step one, then see how you feel at lunch, one step at a time, I find that if I try to think like i can never have treats again then it's a bit overwhelming but if I think that "today I'm going to be good " it's easier to manage.
Let us know how you got on later x
