Peardrop - age 33, TTC cycle #9, DS is 26 months (stopped bf soon to be 4 months ago). Af returned when DS 14months, currently on CD14 and have had 4 flashing smileys. Praying for a static smiley tomorrow! Dangling legs in air!

Yeah Auf is right...it really does depend on the individual. I think I can now recommend taking Agnus Cactus to help AF return, regulate cycles and increase cm (however I don't think you can take it whilst bf but if you stop then it's something to think about). When I am ttc dc3 I will definitely start taking Agnus Cactus as soon as I stop bf next time.

Auf are you feeling pregnant yet?

Ava? Any news?

Right, I've made a blood test appt for next Monday. Better get on with my day Grin

ispy yes to what pear said about previous threads getting people who still bf lots! I remember feeling really awful as I had to cut down from almost exclusive BF when DC was about 9/10months old in the first place just to get AF started, which was very traumatic for me. Then I had to wean completely when DC was 1 which still saddens me, while everyone on the thread was still getting pregnant bf a lot. It has taken me another 4 cycles PLUS fertility clinic help to get to this stage. So weaning did nothing for me whatsoever as my cycles continued erratically and the LPs continued being 6/7 days. So it really does depend on the individual. Don't be too disheartened!

peardrop2 · 27/07/2015 09:48

I spy - when I first joined this thread (many moons a go) all the ladies were getting their bfps whilst still feeding so it is possible Smile You could test eod like I did this month to save your sticks. Check your second line and if it's really faint then test eod. Obviously keep dtd just incase! Also with these sticks you don't just have to test in the morning so if you regret not testing then you can always test in the afternoon Wink

Congratulations Wax! I like how these BFP are coming thick and fast! A little disheartening for me that they are happening after complete weaning though ???? We are a long way off that yet. I am encouraged that this cycle is looking a bit better though. I got my first flashing smiley today at cd16 after not starting testing until cd14 so I'm hoping I don't need all 20 sticks this month ????

Aufwiedersehenpetrarch · 27/07/2015 09:17

Well done wax! Congratulations! I know I'm up the duff now but I'm still jealous of you managing in your second cycle!

peardrop2 · 27/07/2015 08:59

Wax - are you calling OV day the first day you got a static smiley?

OP posts:
waxweasel · 27/07/2015 08:54

Oh amazing pear, I have everything crossed for you! Sounds like you could have timed it well Smile I felt bad because ideally I'd have tried to dtd on 1dpo and maybe even 2dpo too, and we missed a couple of flashing smiley days a few days before ov. But obviously it didn't matter. X

peardrop2 · 27/07/2015 08:40

Omg Wax I am so EnvyEnvyEnvy! I forgot you were on cycle 2! How lucky Smile Thanks for sharing your dtd motion as it's looking very similar to mine! I've just dtd 3 days in a row and I don't think we can carry on without it being v unromantic and seriously mechanical Blush I kind of want to stop now before it goes down that road again this month! Anyway, I have some hope now as we have a similar cycle etc. Hope you feel better soon!

OP posts:
waxweasel · 27/07/2015 08:35

Oh cross post - thanks everyone!

waxweasel · 27/07/2015 08:34

eeeee thanks Pear! Grin

So stats...
I'm 29, this was cycle 2 (I know - I'm so so lucky). DD is 25 months, and was feeding on demand (and a lot!!) up until 2 months ago. We day weaned first, but she was making up for it at night. Night weaned over the last month - last feed was probably about 2.5 weeks ago. So now totally weaned but very recent and during this cycle.
My cycles are 33 days, OV on cd 19. This month we dtd on cd 13, 16, 17, 18, 19. Pg test 10 dpo.
No symptoms apart from feeling knackered, but I'm ill and DD isnt sleeping so assumed that was it!

MinisMama13 · 27/07/2015 08:32

Ooof I've just remembered one documentary was called the great sperm race and was on channel 4. Not sure if it's still available to watch!

My temp went up again. Again maybe not the most reliable as I'd fed ds and then taken it but feeding doesn't mean moving so I was dozing and then did it. A bit of a jump today too! I think tomorrow ov will be confirmed as Saturday Smile

And I'll stop posting for a few minutes now Wink

LetThereBeCupcakes · 27/07/2015 08:27

Congratulations wax! Brilliant news!

Welcome NAH. Still waiting for AF to return here - DS is 2.6, but I only came off the pill in May.

MinisMama13 · 27/07/2015 08:21

Omg Wax! Congratulations! Grin

Pear in answer to your sperm question, all the sperm have a chance. The theory is boy sperm are a lot faster than girl sperm but the girl sperm live longer. If I remember correctly the waiting sperm has a rest when it gets to the right place. They wake when they smell the egg! Some peak too soon etc Obvs ewcm is easier for them to swim through and get through the cervix but it's also the right ph for it in theory. There was a fascinating documentary on a few years ago lol.
Also from a different documentary, a fertility specialist said a quickie at a parents house etc had led to some patients falling pg before their ivf as it gets the hormones racing and the testosterone boost made a big difference to sperm. He said primal sex and spur of the moment ex in any position was sometimes better than following all the advice about being on your back etc!

MinisMama13 · 27/07/2015 08:10

Pear I had just finished dangle legs and gone up to bed Wink Hubs told me if we're going to dtd again tonight we'll have to be quick and be before 9:15 as he's up early for work tomorrow! All depends on what time ds goes to sleep!
I've never tried the cb sticks and I think if I wasn't temping I'd be tempted to do as you have done and compare to the ic's.
I know someone who had clomid for her first and fell quickly the next time. I feel like my body is working a little better tbh as my cycles are slightly more regular but I'm thinking my lp is on the short side now! I'm hoping some of the male factor issues aren't as bad now but without tests there's absolutely no way to know! I'm trying to convince him to take a multi vitamin for a boost but he always forgets it!
I won't get to 13dpo before testing, I need to set an aim but if I expect af to arrive before 13!

Auf hit the nail on the head, tested Ava?

peardrop2 · 27/07/2015 08:06

Omg wax!!! That's amazing. Congratulations!! Tell us your stats...and I particularly want to know when you dtd Wink

OP posts:
waxweasel · 27/07/2015 08:01

So I caved and tested this morning....

BFP!!!!! Grin

peardrop2 · 27/07/2015 07:47

Random question...if you dtd and have sperm waiting and then you dtd the next day and the egg is released that day. What happens to the sperm waiting? Does the new sperm fight it off because it is fresher and stronger or is it the case that the egg arrives and anything still around whether it's new or old races to the egg? I'm just wondering why they say if you want a girl only dtd the days before you peak. It kind of suggests that any sperm on your peak days has a better chance of reaching the egg but surely waiting sperm has a better chance?! Sorry maybe a bit too deep for a Monday morning Blush

Thanks ladies. I've very excited to see an improvement from last month even though it's only small. Just to have 11 flashing smileys instead of 13 feels great and to have the OV cramps and lots of Ewcm leading up to it just feels like a massive improvement! I've decided to stop taking Agnus cactus for now. I can't find much info about it and I'm just not sure so I better stop. My theory is better to be safe then sorry!

Wax and Ava how are you doing on the agonising wait?

So happy to finally be on the 2ww! I can now sit back and relax. Last month I lasted until 4dpo before I started driving myself nuts but hopefully I can relax for longer this month! No matter what...I'm not testing until dpo13 this month!!

OP posts:
Aufwiedersehenpetrarch · 27/07/2015 05:46

Fantastic news pear! I am very pleased you got some proper signs too! 2ww here we come!
Oh ava any hpt AF news?
Hi nah! Welcome! Hope your stay is very short. My experience has been never. My cycles have never become regular since DC. Grin

peardrop2 · 26/07/2015 23:53

Mini - out of interest do you think you might end up having to go the Clomid route again? Did they suggest that you might struggle to conceive 2nd time round? My friend took Clomid for our first baby but then she fell pregnant pretty quickly with her 2nd...took her by surprise.

OP posts:
peardrop2 · 26/07/2015 23:50

Oh and Mini I take it you're also up dangling legs Wink I think I've worn DH out now and I won't be able to persuade him to keep going tomorrow night. I have a feeling tonight might be our last attempt this month now that we've dtd three nights in a row. Fx it has worked!!

OP posts:
peardrop2 · 26/07/2015 23:49

Mini - I haven't always had strong results with ic sticks which is why I started using cb sticks. It's been helpful to compare the two this month and see the difference as the ic are so much cheaper! It's a relief to know that I can rely on them in the future from now and not have to spend unnecessary money in cb sticks anymore! That said I would recommend the cd sticks to anyone who's finding it difficult to read the ic sticks. Especially the new advanced type because you can test every other day or every 2 days to save money!

OP posts:
MinisMama13 · 26/07/2015 23:40

Pear I should have added that I wasn't necessarily oving, one cycle it gave me highs from cd13 through to 30. My temps picked up ov in that time. Other cycles I'd get 12+ highs and I'd given up temping for a while so no ov confirmation. Fertility investigations showed why and then I got Clomid!
I guess, in theory, ic sticks could be misinterpreted which is why everyone goes for other stuff but I've found them good! I used them while on the clomid to confirm it was working!

peardrop2 · 26/07/2015 23:13

Nah, yes I've also read that 14 months is the average.

I don't know whether to stop taking Agnus Cactus now that I've ovulated (peaked). Some do some don't. Hmmm!

OP posts:
AvaAmulet · 26/07/2015 22:37

NAH, I think the average is 14 months? Mine returned at 16 months but I think the first 6 cycles were anovulatory. We were feeding a lot at the time though. Chart your basal body temperature and invest in a bunch of ic opks, as others have said, to give yourself a better idea of what's happening. Good luck x

Brilliant news Pear! Grin good luck to you and Mini x

Wax, if I ov'd 3 days later this month, like I did last cycle, that makes tomorrow 10 dpo for me too, so we're cycle buddies again! Haha! Hoping we're not again next month though - I'm crossing my fingers for you Wink x

Still no sign of AF here, or anything else for that matter. I am so blasé about ttc this month it's unreal, especially considering it's been such a big thing for us for the previous 19 months! I'm still glad we took a break from the craziness of it, as I know I'll revert to near-obsessing again as soon as AF has left Hmm Grin x
