So, after 9 years together me and dh have decided to start trying. Last AF ended 29th June, I should be ovulating any day now. Very new to all this ttc malarkey so no idea what we're doing really!

I'm already making myself worry about a BFN in a couple of weeks. Didn't think I was that broody but it's all I can think about! Anybody else feeling/felt the same??

Xx

I still genuinely can't work out how people get pregnant by accident, you know....

alwaysinapickle · 24/07/2015 10:07

Yes, sorry to hear AF arrived inwaiting the idea of a honeymoon baby would be nice, I wonder how many babies actually are!
AF due Monday but I know she's on her way. Had my pre AF binge last night where I literally couldn't stop eating. Had an aero, some chorizo, a bowl of cereal but just ate the raisins custarddots all in addition to my dinner.
To cheer myself up (and to stop eating for 5 minutes) I went online and bought some clear blue opk's.
Had a couple of friends announce pregnancies this week and I've been genuinely happy for them. This may change by the time I get to cycle 6.

E11Chick · 24/07/2015 09:51

Lilygirl8 - I'm sure I don't usually get reflux symptoms before AF nor do I get sore boobs for 5 days it's usually a day or two max then AF arrives. Good to hear you were back on track last night lol.

Sorry to hear AF has arrived inwaiting. Keeping my fingers crossed for an April baby for you! I'm going to get some ovulation tests if it doesn't happen this month too. Might just get some from Amazon as that's where I get my pregnancy tests from.

My AF must be due any day now if it's going to arrive so I'll keep you all posted. If it doesn't I'm going to have to physically restrain myself not to take a test every day!

AF came this morning :( here's to next month. Ill be tracking properly this month and using ovulation tests. I've got the ones from Tesco but I'll probably get some clear blue ones. App says I'll be fertile in 11 days.

Just going to concentrate on eating healthy and exercising regularly. We got home from honey moon yesterday bit disappointed it didn't happen then :( but always said I'd like an April baby so fingers crossed this month will be it :)

lilygirl81 · 24/07/2015 09:33

Sorry, meant to say thanks for the advice about motivating DH. I remembered last night that if he and I kiss properly, instinct takes over for him and gets him in the mood almost instantly, worked a treat last night.
I think I'll leave the 6 days thing until next cycle if we don't get a BFP this month.

lilygirl81 · 24/07/2015 09:29

We had puppy training class so thankfully out the house, and I had an apple when we got home rather than stopping in at a shop for biscuits.

Managed to dtd last night, much to my (and his) surprise as DH really wasn't interested.

E11Chick do you normally get reflux? If not then that sounds like a good sign. I am awful for testing too early, I just want to know as soon as possible.

E11Chick · 24/07/2015 07:03

So I caved and poas this morning - BFN - even the ovia app told me I tested way too soon.

Why did I cave?!?!

The app says I'm due AF tomorrow but need to wait 8 days to test so next weekend?! Silly irregular cycle I think.....

Still have same the same symptoms along with feeling pretty acid refluxy this morning, no heartburn just sour taste in my mouth and can feel it in my throat with a bit of nausea which is odd for me. But I wonder if this is just crazy lady symptom spotting??

Hahaha! I've lost 2st over the last year or so, trying hard not to put on too much weight. Hoping to stay super active during pregnancy too

custarddots · 23/07/2015 21:33

You're both too good... I'm off to comfort eat!

Mermaid36 · 23/07/2015 21:13

Toad in the hole and veggies for dinner, handful of dark chocolate buttons for afters.

No training tonight, so I'm being good with my eating :-)

E11Chick · 23/07/2015 20:26

I've just had boiled eggs with toast soldiers for dinner and coco pops afterwards hangs head in shame I don't eat a lot of chocolate usually but crave it just before AF each month. Been craving boiled eggs for a couple of days!

Hello bear!! Welcome to the party.

E11... Yeh I am with you... my cupboard doors and going to fall off their hinges :(

Inwaiting - FXd!!

And mermaid... Haha Wink

Okay, for anyone who is around tonight, confession time. What did you last snack on (obviously cravings snacking- not guilty snaking?)
I will confess to sticking my hand in the cereal jar and stealing all the raisins!!

Mermaid36 · 23/07/2015 19:43

custard me too! This could be TMI but I've offered DH several positions that I don't particularly like, but that make him 'go' faster, IYSWIM! Actually having sex to conceive sort of takes the romance out of it, doesn’t it!

E11Chick · 23/07/2015 19:34

Inwaiting I get the same....I'm literally in the fridge and cupboards constantly during the couple of days before which is how I've been the last day or so.....

What ovulation trackers do you have?

OP posts:
Inwaiting · 23/07/2015 19:20

Hi lovely ladies - still no sign of AF but i've been eating and craving everything on sight which is usually a good indicator its going to come.

I'm 27 and my husband is 31. I've bought some ovulation trackers for next month as I'm not sure how accurate the apps are xxx

iamabear · 23/07/2015 18:08

Hi, you seem like a nice bunch, can I join in?

My husband and I are both 31, and this is my first month off the pill. At the same time I also decided to come off my anti-anxiety meds in preparation so I'm getting a tidal wave of new hormones!

I've been on the pill since I was 16, with only a 3 year break, and although it's only our first month TTC I have started charting my temperature as I've always had a concern about what's going on down there. This is because I've always had really irregular, painful and heavy periods (when not on the pill) and if we do have trouble TTC I want to be able to go to the doctor sooner rather than later with evidence!

I've been using fertility friend to record my temperature and other signs - my temperature profile doesn't seem as clear cut as others', but I think I ovulated on day 26 as I did get a slight temp rise and had the EWCM and really sore boobs. So that puts me on day 32 now so at least I know when to expect AF which I wouldn't have been able to do if I wasn't tracking when I ovulated.

Pickle, when we first made the decision to TTC I cut out the alcohol and caffeine and had every intention of my body being a temple Grin but as soon as I started reading forums like this and I realised how long it might take I soon changed my mind! Will be carrying on as normal (which isn't much anyway) until a BFP.

I agree that reading up on all this makes getting pregnant from a one night stand seem as likely as winning the lottery!

Custarddots, it's been an education for my DH too, I think he thought it would take one shot at a random time in the month and job done. Definitely not so simple! Tracking has helped narrow down a fertile window so we can focus our efforts Grin. It's funny, I'd always thought that we didn't dtd as much as DH wanted, but now that I'm offering it more regularly it seems he doesn't want it as much as he thought he did lol!

It's lovely that you've all been so open with your experiences so far and I look forward to the updates [smiles]. Good luck to everyone!

custarddots · 23/07/2015 17:23

Train time!

We've been busy today... Haven't we?

Firstly hi to Lily. It's always nice to meet new people.

And thanks for revealing your ages - I look forward to to being inspired by stories of you lot getting BFPs in your thirties as I want a few kids and can't cram them all in to the next 24 months Wink

Lily- I know exactly what to mean about motivating the OH. Mine has body confidence issues so I have been upping the confidence boosts to encourage him. As mermaid said really well, being upfront is one thing and mermaid thank you... I am so going to highlight the 6 days v 9 months imbalance tonight!!!
The other thing which I find has worked although it feels a bit crude... Is when I'm suggesting that we DTD, depending on his mood, I will sometimes just joke I want the express version, I.e make your deposit and then that's it..I.e don't worry about me and all that show.
It helps when we are both tired but prevents me from getting paranoid that we are not trying hard enough. Like I said, a bit crude and I know that some people would disagree as it's taking the fun out. I sometimes just prefer my sleep :)

Mermaid36 · 23/07/2015 16:45

I've been dead upfront with DH - I've told him that every month I'll have a 5/6 day window to concieve in, and he needs to be ready to go every night (or in the mornings!) whenever that window is. I don't care if that knackers him out for the rest of the month, and we don't DTD for 3 weeks....

When he whinged at me, I reminded him that it was essentially his idea to have children, and this was really the only bit that was down to him (i.e. I have to be pregnant and go through labour). If he couldn't be bothered to DTD for 5/6 nights a week, then there was no point in TTC.

lilygirl81 · 23/07/2015 15:11

Does anyone have any suggestions? Suggested we dtd last night, got told he wasn't in the mood. Today I have had messages from him saying he feels a bit rubbish, so doubt I can interest him tonight. We are going to my parents for the weekend, so dtd not going to happen until Sunday at the earliest, which will be cd10. I am trying to show a relaxed approach so that he doesn't feel that it becomes clinical, but I'm getting so stressed out by this.
Any ideas how I might manage to shift his mood without him feeling obligated?

E11Chick · 23/07/2015 12:32

I've just started using ovia now can't remember the name of the other one but it wasn't great! I like that ovia uses your symptoms and gives you tips. I think my cycle irregulrity makes it hard for any app to work things out for me at the moment lol.

I was annoyed with ovia this month as it shifted my ovulation dates twice but I guess that's actually a good thing if it's right!

OP posts:
alwaysinapickle · 23/07/2015 12:27

I've been using Ovia for the first time this month but have been tracking from the beginning of the year with My Days. I'll see how I get on with using opk's. The idea of holding for 4 hours scares me! I go all the time! I've read elsewhere that FMU is no good for OPK's. Does anyone have experience of this?
(slow day at the office)

Mermaid36 · 23/07/2015 12:08

Out of interest, which apps are we all using?

I've got Ovia - 2 friends recently got BFP's using it, so that's why I went with it

E11Chick · 23/07/2015 11:25

Hi pickle,

I have no idea really when I should poas as so irregular recently! Might test at the weekend but I think AF is on its way.....apps are definitely not reliable, I learnt that this cycle!

OP posts:
alwaysinapickle · 23/07/2015 11:12

Forgot to say that DH is 37.

alwaysinapickle · 23/07/2015 10:58

Morning all
I'm 32.
Had a bit of spotting this morning which is usually a sign that AF is on it's way so am feeling a little deflated today. Shall remain positive though and buy some OPK's for next month rather than rely on two unreliable apps which gave different fertile windows.
Am not going to think about TTC to conceive now (yeah right) until CD8 when I'll start SMEP plan.
Is anyone testing soon?
