So, after 9 years together me and dh have decided to start trying. Last AF ended 29th June, I should be ovulating any day now. Very new to all this ttc malarkey so no idea what we're doing really!

I'm already making myself worry about a BFN in a couple of weeks. Didn't think I was that broody but it's all I can think about! Anybody else feeling/felt the same??

Xx

I'm 35 and hubby is 36 (almost 37)..... we're very late to the baby table I think, as we have been together 17 years, but "the chat" never happened until this year.... (due to jobs, money, family etc).

He is way broodier than me, but I do have a very laissez-faire attitude to most things, whilst he is the planner/analytical one.

Almost all my friends have children (though most haven't been married as long) so we are nearly the last ones! I do have a friend who is 39 (with a 40yr old OH) that has just got pregnant within 2 months of ttc, so I'm hopeful!!

lilygirl81 · 23/07/2015 09:30

Can I join you guys too?

DH and I have been married almost 2 years, and I recently shared with him that I was seriously stressing out about turning 35 in February and I really wanted to be pregnant by then. He had quite a think about it, raised a few issues which we sorted through so are ttc this cycle (day 8 just now).

Before we ttc, I had really wasn't that interested in dtd, which was one of the things we talked through. Having told me he was pretty much always in the mood, I suggested it last night and he wasn't interested. I don't want him to think I only want to dtd to get my BFP, I just think that actually working towards something has made me relaxed, happier and so more in the mood!

I have ttc before, about 8 years ago and know how awful I am, have ordered my tests from ebay already (stupidly didn't change my delivery address from my office, so diving to get the post every morning!)

I also know it is highly unlikely that it will happen this month, last time it was 3 months before my 1st bfp, then about 8 months before then next one (1 MC and 1 ectopic). I was 26 back then, but partner was in his 30's and a smoker so hoping that was part of the reason

So, right now I am 34 and DH is 26, hoping those young swimmers will get the job done Smile

Hi custard, hope you've warmed up! I'm 27 DH is 30 :-)

Morning all. The train is bloody freezing this morning so I'm messaging to keep warm.

If you don't mind, can we share our ages? Just to help put perspective on things?

I'm 28 and DH is 33.

E11Chick · 23/07/2015 07:14

Welcome mermaid! Lots of BFPs before Xmas sound great!

So.....I have had sore breasts for 2/3 days now so I'm expecting AF any minute as I normally get this a day or two beforehand then it stops as soon as AF arrives.

Still holding out hope it could be early symptoms but it might just be me crazy symptom spotting! We shall see.......

Hey Mermaid... Welcome Smile
Sounds like our fellas need their own group to egg each other on to DTD every day. My DH days that he can feel when's he's stocked up and therefore better able to do it.

Let's all make a target of a BFP before Xmas Shock

Mermaid36 · 22/07/2015 18:10

Hi all! Mind if I join in?

OH and I are ttc #1 - I'm 35 and we've been together for 17 years altogether.

I came off the PO pill about 5/6 weeks ago after 10 years. I'm tracking/temping/weighing etc every day. OH is fully on board - ttc was his idea actually!

Have had a no-bleed period (I think) and my app is telling me I'm in a fertile window. I think OH is struggling to DTD every day for 5 or 6 days (we're usually a 2 or 3 times a week couple)....I think he's under way more pressure than me cos I can just lie back, IYSWIM....

I am pretty fit/sporty anyway, so I've not had to change my habits much. I don't drink either, so haven't had to explain myself to anyone!

Hoping for a BFP before Xmas, as I'm so impatient!

custarddots · 22/07/2015 17:52

Afternoon all. Same predicament as a couple of you. DH, now that he understands a bit more, wanted to do a POAS last night so I did and BFN. However like Inwaiting... No idea when I would POAS.

Agree with you too - I've cut out booze however I am compensating with sugar (also using the 'I've just got married' excuse as well)

Inwaiting - sorry to hear about BFN but like you say there is always next month.

Pickle, I'm on decaf tea and coffee cut out alcohol almost completely but I don't drink much anyways. Also been taking vitams including folic acid

Hi there pickle, I've cut out alcohol completely- I never used to drink much anyway, however it does provoke people asking why I'm not drinking. Like when I went to a BBQ at the weekend, and got a wedding Friday and obviously don't want people to know we're TTC. So I come out with lame excuses, I'm driving and can't afford taxis etc. I've tried to cut down on crap food (choc, crisps etc) but it's proving hard! Also been using decaf tea bags. I don't think having small amounts of alcohol will affect your chances though.
I've still not had af... I know people have said it can takes months for cycle to go back to normal after coming off contraception but I'm getting fed up and it's only been 3weeks! X

alwaysinapickle · 22/07/2015 11:28

Has anyone changed their lifestyle/diet since TTC? I'm not a smoker, I get my 5 a day and will usually have a drink or two on a Friday or Saturday (perhaps a glass of wine, or a cider and only on one night or the other). I am a sugar monster tho and do eat a lot of sweets, cakes, biscuits which I know I should cut down on generally (and am trying to).
I was wondering whether I should cut out alcohol altogether, or whether it's OK until I know I'm actually pregnant? I don't drink a lot and want to still be able to enjoy what I enjoy.
Has anyone made any significant changes?

Inwaiting · 22/07/2015 10:38

Done a test today and it was negative. Gutted but my cycle can be between 27 and 32 days so will jus have to hold out for AF. Always next month :)

E11Chick · 22/07/2015 07:14

Just been doing some research and it says that 7 days after ovulation 70% of tests come back negative so not sure whether or not to test on Saturday as I might just be setting myself up to be really down and upset all weekend? May wait for 10/11 days so this time next week?

OP posts:
E11Chick · 21/07/2015 22:04

Sorry that last post looks like one huge rant!

P.s. pickle you're not crazy at all...although I do think ttc is making me go slightly crazy :-)

OP posts:
E11Chick · 21/07/2015 22:03

Hi custard - Saturday is a date although I don't think I'm far enough past ovulating yet as I was using one app but I didn't trust it so have a new one which thinks ovulation might have been this past weekend (which seemed about right to me due to EWCF) -why is it so confusing!! Two people we know have announced accidental pregnancies recently which is so frustrating!!

it is so annoying having an irregular cycle as there's no specific date to test on!

OP posts:
custarddots · 21/07/2015 21:22

Aw pickle! Nice try. You're not insane... Just a woman!!

alwaysinapickle · 21/07/2015 20:19

Hi custard. AF due 27/7 which feels like forever away. Have been feeling quite peculiar this week but am probably reading too much into that.
Had some time to kill this morning so did a test which was completely ridiculous and was not surprised when it was a bfn! Please don't judge me, I know I'm crazy!!!!

custarddots · 21/07/2015 19:46

Hey Pickle. Was AF due for you yesterday? When are you planning on testing?

alwaysinapickle · 21/07/2015 18:01

It is hard if DH isn't in the mood. We both agreed to ttc and see what happens and in front of DH I'm 'cool' about things but secretly I'm tracking my cycle. Haven't told DH about tracking because i don't want him to feel pressured and still want dtd to be fun rather than become a chore. Hopefully I won't get annoyed if he's not in the mood when I know it's a good time, unlikely tho!!

custarddots · 21/07/2015 17:40

Oh and on the point of DH wanting to DTD, I showed him a video of the journey of his little soldiers as how few get through and he kinda went wow.. That's not many... So perhaps that has helped...

custarddots · 21/07/2015 17:38

Hey Inwaiting! Welcome! We're all new and I would say the gentlest board on MN. Personally I have no phone signal at work so you only hear from me in the evenings.
It would be awesome if you got a BFP straight off!!

E11. If you fancy... Let's both test on Sat as my AF may be due then but as mentioned before, I am so irregular I have no idea. FX for you!!
Like you I am losing hope just because I am reading how many people have been going for so long. Seriously questioning how people success on one night stands!!! Maybe I should get a random guy as see what happens!!
Also mildy symptom spotting however no sore boobs to report which seems to be everyone's claim!!
Hopefully you have honest boobs!!

E11Chick · 21/07/2015 07:19

Hi Inwaiting! Good luck tomorrow, let us know how it goes!

Custarddots glad to hear you're back on board. I'm trying hard not to pressure dh (which is hard when you think it's ovulation day and they aren't interested!) As I think he could easily get fed up with it all I'm sure.

I'm currently unsure when to test really as I've had an odd cycle....so going to wait until the weekend as that's when it could be due. Started getting sore boobs yesterday but I get that sometimes a day or so before AF so we'll wait and see......I'm starting to lose hope a bit this cycle though x

OP posts:
Inwaiting · 21/07/2015 07:00

Hi ladies. First post for me so please go gentle! It's our first cycle TTC. AF due tomorrow so I will be doing a test in the morning. In all honesty though I don't feel any different at all so I'm not hopeful. Fingers crossed for all of you xxx GrinGrinGrin
