Short Luteal Phase

mascaraisamust · 05/07/2015 22:57

So after 6 months of ttc I've worked out I've got a short luteal phase of 9 days, however it could be even less. I get a positive opk on day 19 and 9 days later AF appears. I'm fearing it could be less that 9 days if I ovulate 24-36 hours after a postive opk. No suprises that there hasn't been a bfp yet. I'm thinking this is my obstacle. Seems I've tried everything else. Do I go to my GP? Is there any point? On preconception vitamins with b6 in and have been in them for three months and no changes. Also AF is really painful every month, wondering if there is more to this. Any ideas? Or anyone experienced/ing similar?

Hi Sunshine & Mascara,
Thanks for thinking of me. My temperature went up by a further 0.2 degrees. I'm hoping it's a positive sign that I've actually ovulated but I guess we'll see. Hopefully it goes up a little more tomorrow or at least maintain itself.
Mascara, sending a virtual hug your way xx

Thanks star, I remember you posting. I'm being well looked after by DH, he's been great. Feeling fine physically today so we've been out for a nice walk. Good luck with your tww. My motto is keep busy!

Just popping in to say I'm truly sorry to hear about the bleeding mascara. Sending you very warm wishes and all the best for Wednesday. Try to relax (how?!) and get lots of rest over the bank hol. x

Hi all, welcome Beansprout and thank you. I'm feeling a bit better today about everything. Wednesday will just put my mind at ease and the fertility appointment is the 21st Sept. Fingers crossed they listen as I still think I needed progesterone. If not I'm going to have a private appintment especially if I can get one around be £100 mark like mrs. Fingers crossed for us all!

And welcome to Beansprout xx

sunshinegirl12 · 30/08/2015 12:31

Ah mascara, hope your resting up and taking it easy, Wednesday must seem forever away. When is your fertility appt? xxx

Beansprout30 · 29/08/2015 17:11

My first post on this thread but have been following, just wanted to say sorry to mascara x

mascaraisamust · 29/08/2015 15:28

Not had it fully confirmed medically yet but it's as heavy as a normal AF. Went to the hospital and a scan is booked for Wednesday to confirm but I just know. Feel drained.

Think I've got to wait for my real AF to appear and wait at least a full cycle now before we can go from here. Luckily I haven't cancelled my fertility appointment. Thanks for your support.

Shary Evening Primrose Oil - read you take it up until ovulation and then stop as it can cause contractions which aren't good for an egg implanting. Who knows if it works but I'll try anything. I take two x 500mg tablets a day but have read you can take more. Increases cervical fluid and helps regulate hormones supposedly.

Grapefruit juice don't ask me how but is supposed to help increase cervical fluid. I like the taste though so not too bad for me.

Robitussin is a cough syrup I'm taking two teaspoons three times a day. It has an active ingredient in it which loosens mucus in the lungs and in the cervix too.

Ooh I've not heard about that stat. Smear is in six days but think I might O earlier than usual as already have cervical fluid.

sunshinegirl12 · 29/08/2015 09:16

Hopefully they will help, I've read such good reviews on them. I've never heard of robitussin, I will have to have a quick google in a bit. Also what does grapefruit do? I can't stand it but would try anything now. It sounds like you're being very proactive this month.

Hopefully the ultasound/smear will give you some answers. I was reading yesterday that a lot of people seem to get their BFP following their smear, maybe a coincidence but I thought it was quite interesting. Xx

SharyBobbins · 29/08/2015 09:15

Sunshine15- sorry what's EPO?

Sunshinegirl2015 · 29/08/2015 09:04

I take pregnacare with my husband we both take the conception ones. They're also what my doctor recommended.

Good thanks, this cycle have been taking EPO and started taking robitussin yesterday afternoon upon noticing creamy CM. this morning I woke up and was soaking down there with watery fluid - no egg white yet and only CD12 when I normally ovulate around CD20/21 so not sure if this could be the EPO. We've just DTD using conceive plus too.

I've also been drinking and eating grapefruit every day! Got a faint line on cheap opk test strip yesterday.

Booked in for my smear and vaginal ultrasound in September to see if they can work out why I get such painful periods.

How are you?

mascara you must be worried. I can't believe they can't fit you in until Wednesday! That's such a long time to wait!

sunshinegirl12 · 29/08/2015 08:50

Sunshinegirl2015, how are you getting on? Xx

sunshinegirl12 · 29/08/2015 08:49

Mascara, sorry to hear this, has the spotting stopped this morning?

Shary, that is good to know, I wasn't aware it could take a few days to rise so hopefully it'll happen very soon. I know what you mean about re-taking your temp just out of curiosity, sometimes I've even taken mine in the evening before bed just to see i've even taken DHs, luckily he already knows i've totally lost it

I've ordered some pregnacare his and hers, does anyone else take these? x

SharyBobbins · 29/08/2015 08:23

Mascara I'm so sorry you didn't get your scan last night. Was the visit to the GP helpful/reassuring? Fx for you x

Woke up needing the loo at 5.30am so did my bbt then. Its gone up from 36.2 to 36.3 which isn't very impressive Hmm Did some reading around it this morning though & apparently it can take some women several days (3 days seemed to be banded about a lot) before they see a significant rise so fx for tomorrow. The frustrating thing is I went to the loo & had a few sips of water. Fell back asleep until 7am & tested again "just out of interest" & it was 36.7! I know this doesn't count though Blush

mascaraisamust · 29/08/2015 06:18

Not good news I'm afraid. Scan booked for Wednesday to check things over.

Totally agree with Shary, everything you've got going on and you're still helping us, thankyou Mascara. I'm going to take your advice. Xx

Shary, your temps sound pretty consistent so hopefully get that rise tomorrow, you'll definitely notice it as significant, I was surprised at how much x

SharyBobbins · 28/08/2015 22:16

Mascara you're so lovely giving us advice and encouragement when you're going through what you are right now xx

mascaraisamust · 28/08/2015 22:11

Sunshine I think you should just go back to basics and take folic. A holiday sounds ideal too.

Shary I think it will rise tomorrow. Fx x
