Short Luteal Phase

mascaraisamust · 05/07/2015 22:57

So after 6 months of ttc I've worked out I've got a short luteal phase of 9 days, however it could be even less. I get a positive opk on day 19 and 9 days later AF appears. I'm fearing it could be less that 9 days if I ovulate 24-36 hours after a postive opk. No suprises that there hasn't been a bfp yet. I'm thinking this is my obstacle. Seems I've tried everything else. Do I go to my GP? Is there any point? On preconception vitamins with b6 in and have been in them for three months and no changes. Also AF is really painful every month, wondering if there is more to this. Any ideas? Or anyone experienced/ing similar?

No news here.

CD33 - my longest cycle post pill since the very first cycle off it in January. I've been regular, ovulating on CD18 with an average 10day LP although last month LP was 11days - my longest yet.

So annoyed at myself for not monitoring CF this month.

FF still says I ovulated on CD18 as normal which would put me at 15DPO today!

I think I could've possibly ovulated on CD25 for some reason (not been stressed) putting me on 8DPO and TCOYF app has now changed from CD18 to CD28 for ovulation meaning I'd be 5DPO today!?

But why would I have ovulated later. I had some time off work this month to relax, not been ill, not been stressed...

So confused. No symptoms.

You'll have bloods and urine sample taken by the midwife. Many areas (mine included) you don't even see the GP you just self refer to the midwives who deal with everything end to end.

Fine thank you. Just really busy at work. Thinking about TTC in summer so bought some OPK's and going to start temping again in the new year. I already suspect my LP is short from observing CM, although possibly not as short as before so that's something at least.

Sunshinegirl2015 · 16/10/2015 21:49

Woah private sounds so expensive! I had an internal ultrasound recently and my GP has referred me for a second because I had a lot of fluid in my pelvis and they want to see if it's still there or if it's been absorbed by my body.

I was referred after ending up in A&E a few months ago dry heaving from painful AF.

Still no AF here. Either 6DPO or 13DPO.

Hey Doobee!

Mascara that sucks but hopefully you'll have a BFP soon.

mascaraisamust · 16/10/2015 20:46

Thanks doobeedee. Hope your ok?x

Hi. Don't post much these days as not TTC atm (still got short luteal phase though) but I do like to read to see how you're all getting on. Just wanted to say, you don't always have ultrasounds with Clomid. I wasn't monitored at all. Just given it and told to get on with it!

mascaraisamust · 16/10/2015 19:55

I've got another 6 months before I can even go back to my gp and 12
Months before being referred again. I'm determined I'll get there before then!!

I had an internal us when I saw my private doctor. I was cd19 and had had positive opk the day before - the scan showed ripe follicles in my ovaries ready to pop off so he knew I was literally just about to ovulate. That gave him more information than a day 21 blood test could ever do!

sunshinegirl12 · 16/10/2015 19:40

That is ridiculous, they make it so all hard. I'm going to say it's been 2 years just to be on the safe side x

mascaraisamust · 16/10/2015 19:32

I don't qualify for any of that now I've had a BFP though, so ridiculous!

And yes, I have to have a second consultation (discuss bloods, maybe have ultrasound) before I get the prescription.

The low progesteeone triggered the gynae appoinment and the prescription of cyclogest (I wouldn't have got this if I hadn't argued my case though).

I don't think I have to have the ultrasound, I think it's more to rule things out but I've read that you need ultrasounds with Clomid regularly? I will call the clinic and get a breakdown of costs. The SA will be done on the nhs I think.

One final thing Mascara, when you got the results on your first NHS blood tests that you had low progesterone, did they say what was the next course of action? Were they willing to prescribe you with progesterone after that? Sorry, i'm just weighing up the options x

sunshinegirl12 · 16/10/2015 18:21

Mrsunsure, did you have to go on a long waiting list for the ultrasound? x

sunshinegirl12 · 16/10/2015 18:19

It is a lot of money isn't it, maybe give them a call and just see how much the ultrasound will be so you don't have a huge shock. Do you need to go back to the consultant before you get the prescription for Clomid and cyclogest, or do you have them already?

I might try somewhere else for a comparison, the email they sent did sound like a bit of a sales pitch (it even came from a sales executive - is that normal?!) I've been having a look at the NHs guidelines for my local area and it says if you've been trying more than 2 years you'll get referred for hormone level check and SA, if that comes back clear apparently they do an ultrasound. Hmmm we'll see. x

Sunshine its a lot of money isn't it. I'm scared of the cost as my letter says to book an appintment when I get my bloods back (which I have now), to have an ultrasound (advised) and to discuss treatment and prescribe. I'm terrified of the cost of all this. I know the second consultation is £130, so that's by minimum cost. But how much will the ultrasound and treatment be?! I hope he doesn't suggest the bloods the nhs wouldn't do as they are £90 each. Im hoping the cyclogest comes before next ovulation.

You'll be fine sunshine, look the other way, count to three and it'll be all over Smile

sunshinegirl12 · 16/10/2015 17:36

So I had a response from one of the clinics - An initial consultation with internal scan is £287, this scan check for abnormalities in the uterus, ovaries and lining of the womb. Possible initial blood tests, guide price £318, and semen analysis £180.

Would have thought they would want blood results before doing an internal scan though?! Think I will wait to see what NHS say on tues first and hopefully they will offer us the SA and blood tests. I'm already scared by it all, the only time I've ever had blood taken before I ended up on the floor. I know it'll be worth it in the end though so please feel free to tell me to man up!!

mascaraisamust · 16/10/2015 16:57

It could be cd25! Another week or so wait then!

Sunshinegirl2015 · 16/10/2015 12:13

I don't get a lot of CM which is why we use conceive plus so I usually check internally at my cervix for CM but this is the first month in a while I've not done that. Typical eh? That'll teach me!

sunshinegirl12 · 16/10/2015 08:24

Sunshine, looking at your chart it could be either CD 19 or 25, did you notice your CM at all?

Mrsunsure, thanks for the advice about SA, how you feeling today? x
