Short Luteal Phase

mascaraisamust · 05/07/2015 22:57

So after 6 months of ttc I've worked out I've got a short luteal phase of 9 days, however it could be even less. I get a positive opk on day 19 and 9 days later AF appears. I'm fearing it could be less that 9 days if I ovulate 24-36 hours after a postive opk. No suprises that there hasn't been a bfp yet. I'm thinking this is my obstacle. Seems I've tried everything else. Do I go to my GP? Is there any point? On preconception vitamins with b6 in and have been in them for three months and no changes. Also AF is really painful every month, wondering if there is more to this. Any ideas? Or anyone experienced/ing similar?

Mrs I had brown spotting and it was quite a bit when I got my bfp, you told me it was ok Smile keep positive, and everything crossed for you! The timing would be about right.

Sanch now you've got a positive opk dtd for the next three nights at least! Don't stop!

Ok I've done a clearblue opk and got a circle (not ovulating). Pulled out the insert and I have two lines?! Both as strong as each other? On a cheapy that would be a positive?! I'm so confused?! Any help.

I suppose it could be, my DH also just suggested that.

I had implantation bleeding last time and just thought I'd had my period which is why I didn't realise I was pregnant until 13 weeks!

Fingers crossed. I just emailed the doctor anyway.

I took my pessary a little later than usual
this morning because my DS has croup and we were at the doctors. I hope that's not the reason :(

Sanch1 · 28/09/2015 15:02

Oh no mrs, that's rubbish. Could it possibly be inplantation? I've read that it can take as long as 10 days. I'm praying that its nothing and that you arent out yet. x

mrsmugoo · 28/09/2015 14:44

I've just noticed some spotting :(

I'm 10dpo and I'm so so gutted.

I thought I would at least get to the 14 days with these pessaries.

I guess I will just have to see how it plays out. Might email the doctor.

sunshinegirl12 · 28/09/2015 13:09

Sanch, apparently the reflexology is meant to help boost ovulation and she also said it can help if there are any blockages, but I'm mainly using it for relaxation. Oh goodluck with the marathons, it's always good to have something else to focus on.

I usually carry on with the OPKs until they are negative again, I usually get a positive for 2 days then a negative, but I don't think you really need to carry on.

I'm on CD 9 so will be starting on the OPKs today x

flymo79 · 28/09/2015 11:08

i stop doing opks after I get one positive, sanch, but I keep on temping to check I get a rise. Got a positive opk on thurs, dtd friday and haven't been able to since then so am hope hope hoping that was enough! temp still on the rise this morning....

Sanch1 · 28/09/2015 09:03

Suncshine12, what is the reflexology supposed to do? Is it to relax, or help ovulation or something else? Hope it works for you! I got so peeved off with it this month I booked a couple of half marathons! Done one and got one at the end of October, I kind of figured if I get a BFP wasting ?35 is not that big a deal!

Mascara, glad you had a nice weekend and have relaxed a bit. Good luck for your GP appointment.

Well, I finally got a +ve OPK this cycle yesterday, CD24! Now like a couple of PP have said I?m wondering if the Vitamin B complex has delayed things. Got AF on CD25 last month. Now I?m excited to hopefully see my temp rise, but also I?m worried its not going to. Do you ladies keep going with OPK?s after a +ve or do you stop?

mascaraisamust · 27/09/2015 21:12

Gosh sorry mrs! Roll on next week for you! Yes heard they are a pain. Wouldn't say no though! Fingers x I get some soon!

mrsmugoo · 27/09/2015 21:01

I'm only on day 8 - I'll be testing next Saturday!

I won't be sorry to see the back of the bloody pessaries for a couple of weeks that's for sure.

mascaraisamust · 27/09/2015 14:45

Sad I know Sunshine, pregnancy announcements everywhere at the minute too. People still question why we aren't getting a move on. 2 babies born this week and just had to go buy gifts. Can't wait for the day I can buy my own.

Sounds like you have had a good weekend then Mascara.

Fingers crossed we all have good news by xmas, if it was this month it would be perfect timing to tell everyone at christmas, though I shouldve learnt by now not to get my hopes up x

mascaraisamust · 27/09/2015 13:20

Me too mrs how are you getting on? The tww nearly over for you?

Fingers crossed we all get our bfps by xmas!

OP posts:
mrsmugoo · 27/09/2015 12:29

I would dearly dearly love to get a BFP by Xmas/NY - it is all I really want!

mascaraisamust · 27/09/2015 11:31

Sunshine I like your style. I've also said that if this isn't my month I'm going to enjoy the run up to xmas with the festivities rather than take it all too seriously in especially in Nov/Dec.

Ordered my CB OPKs so they should come tomorrow. Temps are down again at 35.92.

I'm feeling better today thanks. I think now I've taken the pressure off myself this month by admitting defeat that it's most probably not going to happen I'm not as anxious to ensure everything is perfectly timed. Been truly wined and dined this weekend and it's my birthday soon too.

Got my GP appointment Wednesday and my private consultstion has been moved until the week after now.

Sunshine & Sanch, thats good that you aren't obsessing too much this month. I'm completely the opposite at the mo but if this isn't my month think I'm going to try to put it to the back of my mind and concentrate on planning xmas / hols for next year etc.

Hope you're feeling a bit better today Mascara x

mascaraisamust · 26/09/2015 23:21

Sunshine I'm thinking I haven't ovualted this cycle and I've run out of OPKs now so I'm stuck. Written this month off now tbh. It's 4 weeks today since the mc. No sign of AF yet. Been an emotional wreck today though!

Sunshine my ultrasound before TTC said I had lots of fluid around my ovaries too but this was shrugged off and never investigated. The GP said they could repeat the ultrasound but it never happened and I never knew what the consequences of it were so I'll be interested to hear what they say.

Sanch, yes im sure it's true, relax and it'll happen. Now I've got to remember how to relax... Last time I relaxed it did happen!

Busy day here. Still no ov, no positive OPK. Been to the docs mascara, he said I'm still settling down from the pill, chill out, temp for a few months. Come back if not pregnant after the 12 months. Very frustrating! Am trying to relax a bit more this month would you believe! Haven't been obsessed with dtd every other day like last, after all,all the 'experts' say just relax and it'll happen.

Sunshinegirl2015 · 26/09/2015 20:21

Oh I didn't know that sunshine.

I've been away from mumsnet for a few days as trying not to obsess this month. Going well so far. Still taking bbt but couldn't even tell you what cycle day I'm on. Think I have about a week until expected ovulation.

Got the results of my scan and am being referred for a second scan to see if the fluid in my pelvis is still there or whether it's been absorbed by my body. Apparently there was a lot of fluid but everything else looked fine.

mascara so did you ovulate or you're not sure?

sunshinegirl12 · 26/09/2015 16:43

How is everyone today?

I'm just back from reflexology, was so lovely and relaxing. My therapist said for best results should try to book in every 10 days to 2 weeks while we get everything in balance, but i've seen alot online saying it should be avoided during 2ww, although she only said to avoid in the first trimester so to let her know soon as I get my BFP. Now i'm confused. x

mascaraisamust · 25/09/2015 18:54

Mrs I've only used the CB ones and they were great, just costly! Well needs must...

OP posts:
mascaraisamust · 25/09/2015 18:53

Sanch I know how you feel with the lack of ovulation! I say go to your docs and get day 21 bloods, I did that at 6 months, now going on for 10 and my gynae appointment is Oct. Get in the system. Can't hurt x

mascaraisamust · 25/09/2015 18:51

Gosh I'm tired this evening! It's been a busy old day!

OP posts:
mrsmugoo · 25/09/2015 11:27

Yes I really recommend the CB digi OPKs - they are pricey but they give you flashing smilies when you are in your fertile window and solid smiley face when you are just about to ovulate so we usually try eod on the dashing days then dtd on the day of the flashing smiley and the day after. I don't think you can time it any better then that - the rest is up to nature!

Sanch1 · 25/09/2015 09:16

A degree and a half is a pretty steep rise mascara!

Mine's gone down again this morning, so day 22 and still no ov and no sign of a positive OPK. Feeling deflated and its only been 6 or so months, can't imagine how you ladies that have been going longer feel. And I already have one so I should be grateful.

That's interesting about the B vits flymo and sunshine, I'll have to see what happens in the next couple months. I need to ovulate first! Last month my cycle was 25 days, and I ov'd day 20 (according to OPK, no temping to cant be sure). Raaah its all so confusing!
