I'm 34 and have been ttc for about 6 months and still nothing. My partner is 39 and we have done it on all different days during the cycle, used clearblue digital ovulation tests and pregnacare.
AF came today and I just got so angry and frustrated, but what makes it worse, is that there is no one I can blame as this is in Mother Nature's hands! In the last year, 8 people (family and friends) have announced they are pregnant. How do you deal with the disappointment of AF turning up every month and how long did it take you to get pregnant with your first? I'm just really down today, I knew AF was on her way as I was getting all the symptoms and of course, she showed up right on schedule!

forgot to say, as much as you can, relax and treat yourself. Get a massage or something. It's not easy but sometimes stopping trying and just enjoying each other helps Wink

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 29/06/2015 22:48

Got pregnant in the first month of trying with each child.

willbillycome · 29/06/2015 22:46

1st around 16 months from stopping injection, typically the first month we gave 'trying' a miss, but had a couple of very drunken fumbles.

2nd, not trying, 1 month after stopping breastfeeding.

actively preventing now Wink Wink

I have a friend much younger than me, tried for two years with no luck. Gave up and went on holiday before going to GP. Came back pregnant.

LuluJakey1 · 29/06/2015 22:24

We made the decision to start TTC and discovered I was already 8 weeks pregnant.

He is 6 months old and at almost 36, we are contemplating TTC again incase it takes ages.

Viasabat · 29/06/2015 22:05

7 years and a round of IVF.

crazytyke · 29/06/2015 22:01

2 shag at roughly the right time for each child. I am never having sex again!

louwn · 29/06/2015 21:23

Gossipgirl, me too, and am onto cycle #3 now TTC #1, both me and DH aged 30. I don't think it helps that one of my friends has 3 kids each conceived first time they tried. She seems to think this is normal so haven't told her we are TTC as can't stand the pressure! This is obviously not everyone I know - most other people it took 3 months to a year at a similar age to us. I am trying not to freak out but been pretty upset at my last two periods. Especially one I am having now as it was two days late and as if to torture me more, pretty painful!

gossipgirl81 · 29/06/2015 21:09

Thanks so much everyone for your kind words and encouragement. I feel a lot better now, I can't really discuss it with anyone as I don't want them to know that I'm upset and hurt over the whole thing, so I'm bottling it all up. I just assumed that I would get pregnant as soon as I had unprotected sex, how wrong was I?! Never realised that it is such an effort. Babydust to everyone xo

7 months and I felt the same as you after 6 months.

originalusernamefail · 29/06/2015 20:59

DS - 6 months
DC2 (currently 12 weeks) - 4 months

However I did need treatment (tablets) to conceive both DC due to a benign tumour on my pituitary. I was told it would take 18 months - 3 years to get my DS so I was really lucky really. Good luck OP!

1st, 13 months aged 29. Tracked ovulation obsessively, DTD on the right days each month, got BFP a week before first fertility appt.
2nd, DD was 9 months, still breastfeeding and taking mini pill. Had sex once in a whole month. BFP after lying awake one night and just having a hunch I was pregnant.

Cherry321 · 29/06/2015 20:57

2nd - still trying, been 22 months so far and nothing, now aged 32.
It's really shit isn't it Sad.

patienceisvirtuous · 29/06/2015 20:51

1st preg, 2 months - miscarried
2nd preg, 1 month (after a 6 month break from ttc) - miscarried
3rd preg, 4 months - currently 8 weeks and hoping this one sticks.

I must admit, even by month four I was starting to feel down, but I started ttc a year ago iykwim.

I'm 37 now and DP 28. Dunno whether the fact DP younger helped us with quick conception...

We had sex 'a lot' during my fertile period.

Hope you get your BFP soon, hang in there x

ouryve · 29/06/2015 20:50

First time, for all 3 pregnancies.

DH has had the snip.

Mama1980 · 29/06/2015 20:47

Both mine were totally unplanned so I guess immediately. Was 26 when I fell with my first, 31 with my second.

Oysterbabe · 29/06/2015 20:42

I'm 34 too and it took us 5 months. My doctor said 9 months is average.
The month I got pregnant was our honeymoon and were at it like rabbits, twice a day. We also spent the days relaxing on the beach and eating loads of great food. Maybe you should time a little romantic break.

Manic3mum · 29/06/2015 20:40

1st - one drunken fumble (ended in mc) age 24
2nd planned - immediately age 24
3rd planned - 6 months age 27
4th planned - immediately age 30

I was sterilised after last baby - no more for us!

MillieMoodle · 29/06/2015 20:40

DS - I was 26, conceived first month of ttc.

Currently ttc no.2, I'm now 31 and we're on month 6 with no luck so far. Hoping for a bfp in the next few days but trying not to test too much. It's so disheartening and frustrating.

Fingers crossed for you for next month Thanks

HelenF350 · 29/06/2015 20:35

4 months from implanon removal to bfp aged 35.
