I know I was surprised at the push towards ivf and to be honest read something similar glitter Weve sent back our form for ivf, don't know if it would affect our application of we decided to get tests done privately? Thinking of doing ivf then investigations if its not successful, to be honest I'd rather have the tests before but we've been trying for such a long time (a very long time if we include our previous attempt at ttc) that I'm scared of waiting Til feb and potentially adding another year to hopefully falling pregnant. This has been a really tough few days, just hope one day we will get our baby. Think I may have to dissapear to the infertility boards sadly.

Good on you for being so organised miss I'm a bit of a last minute person! You're so good at being that organised Grin the nursery looks fab!

MsGlitterJunkie · 04/09/2015 18:47

Tricky decision southy I've literally just seen something on the news with Prof Robert Winston criticising clinics who jump straight to IVF without doing the full battery of diagnostic tests first. I would be inclined to think about doing that first but can totally appreciate that Feb is such a long way away. Is there anyway you could get the tests done privately? In London there are tons of clinics that do a fertility MOTs for around £200-ish, might be worth seeing if there is something affordable in your area. That way you can get yourself on the list for IVF now and get the diagnostic tests done privately in the meantime? As I say tricky decision but you and dh will know what is right for you.

Loving the nursery pictures miss you're so organised!

Sorry to hear you're suffering dizzy hopefully it will ease off soon, not many weeks of the 1st trimester left now.

DizzyMerry · 04/09/2015 12:09

Southy that is a dilemma. I assumed you'd had the diagnostic tests, such as hsg and transvaginal to rule out any issues. Seems like a big leap going for IVF when the basic tests haven't been done but then there's all the waiting. Hopefully you'll work it out and decide what's the best way forward for you. Ugh at AF Sad

Miss your nursery is lovely Smile

MissSMartin · 04/09/2015 11:45

Oh no merry sorry to hear you're still feeling so unwell. Not long at all Til your scan, your scans on my birthday :) I have only had blood tests, and DH SA. I had a scan about 4 years ago but nothing was picked up. I've woken up feeling really torn carrot and don't know whether to insist on more tests and clomid (which I was prescribed before but didn't ever take due to wanting to get married/buy a house) if we pushed for clomid that would tie us in with an app in feb. I just don't know, I don't want to put off ivf if that ends up being the only option however don't want to put us through it if there's a better option. I just don't know! I'm having such a dilemma. Thing is if other tests/options don't work we could end up not having ivf until mid next year in which case I definifely won't have a baby before my next birthday. Oh and think AF has started early which is making me more emotional... Sorry to rant I just don't know what to do x oh and I'm sure your epu will bring your October scan forward for you carrot if dates are further forward

CarrotVan · 04/09/2015 07:05

I have by next early scan on the 11th, booking in on the 17th and my first proper scan isn't until October 15th - well into week 13. I need to get a better sense of dates at the early scan and see if the proper scan needs to be brought forward.

IVF in the next 3 months, southy? Wow! How do you feel about the IVF route?

DizzyMerry · 03/09/2015 23:22

I'm around though have mostly just lurked as I feel too unwell to even post.

Southy it sounds like your appointment went well. It's great that the consultant didn't hang about and insist on more tests, which take an age on the NHS not to mention then waiting to discuss results. What tests have you already had? The consultant must think you've had the diagnostic tests so there's no point in doing any more. It's also great that you can start IVF before Christmas. Fx it all goes well and you can start treatment soon.

Not long to go for scans now. My 12w scan is on the 23/09. Not had an early scan so I'm also anxious.

Southy84 · 03/09/2015 22:47

Thank you glitter I hope the next 21 days fly by for you :) time drags when you're feeling anxious, I wish I had good suggestions on how help with anxiety but to be honest I'm one of the most anxious people going :-/ so the appointment was a bit weird, choice a: ivf and get treatment before Xmas or choice b: have more investigations but can't get a follow up appointment with the consultant Til next feb... He therefore in not so many words said he didn't think investigations would show anything and in his opinion we'd end up going down the ivf route eventually anyway so I think that's what we're going to do, we get one free round so let's hope we get approved and its successful

MsGlitterJunkie · 03/09/2015 13:16

Wishing you all the best of luck with your appointment southy hopefully they will put a plan of action in place, probably tell you you need test XYZ done and then give you another appointment to review after those test results come back. Just a guess really but I remember reading/ hearing that was the process at some clinics.

This thread has gone v quiet since hack-gate, hope everyone is OK.

Not long until your scan carrot. I have 21 days until my 12 week scan, no idea how I'm going to last that long because the anxiety is going through the roof already!

Southy84 · 03/09/2015 12:12

Hi carrot tired is a good sign :) oh not long til your next scan then that's good news! I don't think much will get said today, it's the initial consultation so probably a decision on what we're going to do. Just want time to hurry up now, just want to know what is going to happen x

CarrotVan · 03/09/2015 09:11

I'm around. Not a lot of symptoms so counting the days until my next scan on the 11th. I am knackered though. I'm now 7+4 I think so will be 8+5 for the next scan and should see something baby shaped

What will happen at this appointment southy?

Southy84 · 02/09/2015 23:12

How is everyone? Feeling a bit nervous about my appointment tomorrow :( really hope it goes well but can't help but worry. Hope everyone is ok, it's gone a bit quiet, hope you're all still about x

Southy84 · 27/08/2015 18:08

Not long to wait miss :)

Loving the new job glitter just what I needed to take my mind off things!!

Hi carrot that's fantastic news! So pleased your scan went well and that your epu are being so great :)

Glad you're having a good day today merry hopefully the sickness will stay at bay x

DizzyMerry · 27/08/2015 13:03

I felt ok all day yesterday apart from wanting to puke in the car! I'm ok so far today but yes it's debilitating and can creep up without warning!

CarrotVan · 27/08/2015 08:29

I don't think I updated here about my early scan. I had an anxiety filled day on Monday but went to EPU late afternoon and the scan showed a yolk sac and tiny fetal pole (3.2mm) with a heartbeat so measuring 6+1 on Monday and now 6+4. My lovely EPU are doing a follow up scan at 8+5 and I'm all set with the midwives for standard antenatal care with a booking in appointment at 10 weeks and a scan at 13+4

I am very relieved

MsGlitterJunkie · 26/08/2015 09:23

Thanks ladies, feeling very chipper today!

Congrats on the new job southy hope you're enjoying it? Lots of good things happening for you at the moment Smile

Lovely that you're almost at the halfway point miss SO exciting. And even better that she's dancing about happily in there, bet you can't wait for the scan!

How are you feeling merry? Hopefully the nausea will start to ease off soon, it's so debilitating isn't it?!

MissSMartin · 25/08/2015 22:02

Southy84 · 25/08/2015 19:49

What a lovely fiancé you have glitter :) I'm so glad everything is ok. I dont think I would have held things together either. How fab they fit you in for a scan straight away, hope you have your feet up and are relaxing now x I know time has flown by hasn't it! It felt like forever away but it's suddenly gone quickly, Ive started a new job and feeling quite positive at the moment :)

DizzyMerry · 25/08/2015 19:49

I'm 7+4 southy. Thats two things you've got to look forward to your appointment and holiday! I'm so jealous wish I was going away somewhere nice.

MsGlitterJunkie · 25/08/2015 19:44

Gosh southy your appointment feels like it's come around quickly! Wishing you all the best of luck with it, will be a relief to get the ball rolling and see what your options are.

Sorry you're feeling ill dizzy these early days and weeks are so grim at times, ugh.

I had a major wobble today after some spotting, my epu discharged me after my 6 week scan so they refused to see me without another referral from my GP despite them knowing all my previous mc history! My fiancé stepped in and organised a private scan for this evening and thank goodness he did because I really don't think I would have managed to keep it together. Anyway all is well thank goodness, best bit is they gave me some photos and a video of the scan with sound so I can hear the heartbeat. PHEW. What a relief. I could do with a stiff drink. Oh yes, silly me I can't Wink

Southy84 · 25/08/2015 19:11

Thank you merry I just can't wait for the next week to hurry up!! Sorry to hear you're not feeling well, how far along are you now?

DizzyMerry · 25/08/2015 19:09

Good luck with your appointment southy. Hopefully they'll crack on with things and you'll have a plan of action.

I've been feeling so ill this past week even looking at my phone makes me want to vomit at times!
