Hi ladies! I am 33 and have been trying to get preggars 6months now :( feels like forever. my partner has two children from prev relationship (marriage) and his ex fell pregnant straight away apparently, my younger sister-by 6 yrs is pregnant with her 2nd which happened 2 months into her relationship ! I have been really positive this month but my period is due wed and now i have brown spotting-meaning am out again. I guess i am just on a downer now... this sucks. I have a regular 28 day cycle and ovulate day 13 (opk) and have sex at least every other day! eating more healthily and tried fertilcm to help. I have worked with children for years and so long for my own. I am addicted to these threads and love how everyone is so supportive of one another! Fairy dust to us all!x

Hi Tabby, it's an absolute minefield this ttc lark isn't it Sad I hope you're okay, the waiting game is incredibly frustrating.
I'm quite worried because I read that cycles which are 42+ are classed as irregular, but (touch wood) my cycles have been pretty regular since coming off this pill, just hopelessly long. So I'm not sure if I fall in to the 'irregular' category or not? Either way I guess 4/5 cycles in I shouldn't be stressing so much but its easier said than done isn't it!! x

Tabby84 · 02/08/2015 12:04

Have similar situation SharyBobbins (username changed form LucieLu84). I still can't decide if I'm having AF or IB. Going to see how it goes today but I'm thinking it is the dreaded AF now :( At least it's got me down to 32 days from my high of 41. Going to use the ovulation testers this month

SharyBobbins · 02/08/2015 11:18

Hello there ladies, can I join this thread too?
ttc #1 for about 7 months now. My cycle seems to have settled at 43 days so I've had 4 cycles so far (currently have AF keeping me company). I was on the pill for around 8 years before this. I'm taking "trying for a baby" vitamins (or "the pointless pills" as I call them when I'm in a mood about not being pregnant!). I used the CB smiley face tests before falling for the advertising of the CB advances fertility monitor which I frequently want to smash! Apparently it works for women who have a cycle between 21-42 days (so typically I'm 43!). I'm going to persevere with it though because it was ridiculously expensive Shock

Just ordered some cheaper ovulation tests on the advice of Mermaid in a different thread (thanks again xx) so I'll be using them alongside the CBAFM next cycle. Just reading all of your thoughts, comments & advice on this thread have helped a lot already this morning so thank you! I'm looking forward to keeping up with you all on this frustrating, confusing and fingers crossed, exciting journey!

Nope, never had it before Sizzle81, especially the spotting at CD22. Will see how it goes today/tomorrow I guess. On the plus side, it would make it a 32 day cycle, so I've come down from 40, to 37, to 32 in 3 months. Hated it being so long as long to wait to test

Sizzle81 · 02/08/2015 09:28

Hi LucieLu! I did wonder if that spotting could have been implantation but as you've said it's a little heavier now, I'm not sure. Have never had that either. Fx for you x

I'm cd11. App says Tues is my most fertile day but I had a + opk yesterday. Can't dtd until tomorrow so really hoping I don't miss out! My packet says ovulation within 36 hours so fx it will be the later end Confused

LucieLu84 · 02/08/2015 08:37

Hi all, I'm new. Been reading lots of posts as I've TTC 5 months and think (and hope) I may have had IB. Cycles are not regular which has been frustrating. Averaging 36 days and using MyDays app to track. Had spotting CD22 very briefly. Had it again yesterday, started brownish discharge, have now had some slightly heavier blood flow but not fresh. Have never had this. Felt a bit nauseous last week and very tired, but been very stressed at work so don't want to get hopes up. AF due around thurs next week based on average cycle length last few months. Trying to avoid testing until after thurs as really want a positive and don't want to tempt fate

sunshinegirl12 · 01/08/2015 01:19

I agree alpha, if you feel brave enough you should definitely have tests asap, you're fortunate to have such an understanding GP. Me and DH have agreed to go for tests in the new year when it will have been a year, I'm really hoping it won't come to that but i didnt think it would take this longConfused

Alpha100 · 31/07/2015 22:31

Thank you both x

PallasCat · 31/07/2015 21:10

Smile FX Alpha xx

Sizzle81 · 31/07/2015 21:01

Fx for an Aug bfp Alpha!
But I agree that if not, you should absolutely jump at the chance for further tests. xx

Alpha100 · 31/07/2015 18:50

I think you are right and I'm certain if I waited and a problem was identified 6 months down the line I would kick myself for not taking action sooner. Thank you pallas Flowers. We missed my last ovulation as OH was away so if August doesn't bring a BFP we will have tried unsuccessfully for 6 cycles So will book in Then to see GP.

PallasCat · 30/07/2015 10:42

Alpha it's definitely not jumping the queue. You are in a situation that makes you more at risk due to stress (and it must be really upsetting when you're TTC! Shock brave girl for doing it!) as a result you are higher priority.

It's your doc that has decided you're higher priority, not you. This does not constitute queue jumping, any more than triage does when you go to A&E.

My view would be to bite the bullet and get the appointments. It could make you more anxious, but equally it could set your mind at rest. And since you're worrying about the results without having yet had the tests, you'll continue to do so until you do get the tests - I know I would.

Of course it is possible for you, as for all of us, that you will get answers that you didn't want. But if that is the case it would be far better to know this sooner. If you put off your appts for another say, six months, you would be angry with yourself for not having found out if there had been a problem that could've been treated during that time.

Alpha100 · 30/07/2015 00:20

It's awful when work causes stress. My previous job made me really anxious but luckily I love my current job. It is causing an issue though...a big part of my job involves supporting couples who have experienced infertility. They tell me their story and naturally it can be very upsetting. I knew it would become a issue before I even started ttc and I explained to my gp that although I tell myself I see a distorted number of people with infertility issues it still makes Me worry. He was very reassuring and sympathetic. He told me that anxiety would not aid ttc and that instead of waiting 12 months I could come back in 6 to get tests done.

It's now been 7 months but only 5 cycles as we had a break from ttc. I'm wondering if I should arrange to have the tests but I feel like I'm 'jumping the queue' as others have been trying longer. I'm also worried it could make me even more anxious and I'm scared of the results too. I really don't know what to do xx

mrsstickll · 29/07/2015 21:47

Sorry to those with Af.

sunshinegirl12 I'm the same with work, feel like I can't job hunt while ttc so really desperate to conceive so I can leave for a bit. X

CinderToffee · 29/07/2015 21:05

Definitely not just you Alpha!

sunshinegirl12 · 29/07/2015 19:03

Hi Alpha, you're definitely not the only one trying to stay sane through this, I get moments of panic where I think this will never happen for me and scare myself with thoughts of all the tests etc we will have to go through to get there.

I have already started to symptom spot (or atleast try to imagine I have symptoms, I dont really have any yet) but Im not due on for another week yet. And after a horrible day at work today I'm even more desperate for this to be my month so I can start counting down to my maternity leaveHmm

Hope everyone is ok xx

Alpha100 · 28/07/2015 23:47

Hi everyone, I haven't posted for a while but have been keeping up to date with tge thread. I love how honest everyone is. I thought I was the only one struggling to stay sane. I feel green eyed when friends 'fall' pregnant and I actually feel anxious that I haven't found any baby boys names that I particularly like! I don't symptom spot yet but I'm pretty confident that will come with time! Xx

Mermaid36 · 28/07/2015 21:58

Sorry for AF Cinder such a pain, isn't it, but hopefully it'll inform our next cycles.

I dragged my sorry ass to Zumba tonight and I do feel better for it (the hot male instructor might have something to do with it) Blush

CinderToffee · 28/07/2015 21:39

Well I was right - AF arrived! I had a look at my temperature chart, and realised that I must have ovulated the very day I started temping, because the temperature rise was the day after that! Unfortunately I didn't really know what I was looking for, and so I missed it - I thought my fertile window had already finished. I know that must have been ovulation, because it was 3 days later than I thought I had ovulated, and AF was 3 days later than I expected.

A bit disappointed, but this has given me useful information to take forward into this cycle, so onwards and upwards.

Hope you are feeling better Mermaid!

PallasCat · 28/07/2015 11:31

Sorry Mermaid Flowers Cake

Mermaid36 · 28/07/2015 10:34

I think DH is secretly relieved he gets some days off now AF is here... although he was really surprised at how horrible I felt last night with AF - sicne I've not had actual AF in 10 years, he's forgotten how pathetic I am about it!

CinderToffee · 28/07/2015 08:28

Sorry to hear AF is here *Mermaid.

*My temp has dropped this morning so I think AF will definitely be here soon. This is the longest cycle I've had since coming off the pill, typically! Annoyingly, I suspect this means I ovulated later than usual, and so completely and utterly missed the window!

Hey ho - next month!

Sizzle81 · 27/07/2015 21:51

Fx Cinder, Baby and Pallas!
So sorry AF has arrived Mermaid. Flowers

I'm feeling really anxious this cycle too! Wish OH would be a bit more interested in dtd!!
My thermometer arrived today so just have to remember to take temp before getting up!! I'm cd 6 so this will be more of a baseline than anything useful (I think ??)

Mermaid36 · 27/07/2015 20:45

AF arrived tonight...sort of disappointing, but it's the first one since coming off the pill, so I'm relieved it's happened and hopefully means my app will be better at predicting my next fertile window...

Babycakes100 · 27/07/2015 18:02

Hmmmm I don't think so I think its from 5DPO up until your AF is usually due. It does sound odd though. I would def continue DTDing then test when AF is due or a bit before if you can't wait x
