Hi ladies! I am 33 and have been trying to get preggars 6months now :( feels like forever. my partner has two children from prev relationship (marriage) and his ex fell pregnant straight away apparently, my younger sister-by 6 yrs is pregnant with her 2nd which happened 2 months into her relationship ! I have been really positive this month but my period is due wed and now i have brown spotting-meaning am out again. I guess i am just on a downer now... this sucks. I have a regular 28 day cycle and ovulate day 13 (opk) and have sex at least every other day! eating more healthily and tried fertilcm to help. I have worked with children for years and so long for my own. I am addicted to these threads and love how everyone is so supportive of one another! Fairy dust to us all!x

PallasCat · 06/08/2015 16:43

I'm going to be offline from now until Monday or Tuesday. I'm doing an early FRER tomorrow morning but won't be able to update you. Keeping fingers crossed for you all! xx

bananafish81 · 06/08/2015 15:53

Haha ladies, love it!

And banana absolutely only thorough research practices surely!

I did something similar with the IC OPKs - PCOS people can have low levels of LH circulating in their blood throughout their cycle, so OPKs can give confusing results. Anyway so I dipped mine quite a bit just so I knew what 'normal' for me looked like.

That said OPKs don't always work for PCOS women anyway, in that they do their job correctly and pick up the LH surge, but we can have multiple surges in any cycle as our body tries to ovulate (and then doesn't). So a pos OPK isn't necessarily a sign of impending ovulation - although in my case I was astonished that it was last month! If I'd not been temping I'd not have known either way.

TTC ladies - pissing on sticks FOR SCIENCE! LolSmile

SharyBobbins · 06/08/2015 14:12

Bananafish you just made me smile! To be honest it's a relief to know ttc is making us all a little crazy!

Is there a thread, or could we start a thread, about all the mad things ttc makes us think and do?! Lol Grin

bananamonkey · 06/08/2015 13:58

I bought a bag of cheapy OPKs and preg tests in preparation for TTC - I made sure I did a trial run of both just after stopping the pill so that I would know what a negative result looked like in advance!

It's only good practice to have a control group former scientist

Good luck banana :)

sunshinegirl12 · 06/08/2015 13:48

Fingers crossed Bananafish, your comment about the practice BFP did make me smile, I think this whole TTC business makes alot of us ( definitely me ) lose it in our own little waysSmile Really hope it works out for you this time.

PallasCat · 06/08/2015 13:33

Oh bananafish bless you! FX for your treatment working this cycle.

bananafish81 · 06/08/2015 13:04

Hello from one banana to another!

Well I have officially lost the ttc plot

So I had my trigger shot yesterday, which is an injection of hCG - ie the pregnancy hormone - to trigger the follicle to release that egg 36h later.

If you've had a trigger shot you shouldn't POAS early as the hCG can still be in your system and you can get a false positive.

So I'm obsessively dipping Internet cheapy OPKs to see how long the surge lasts and I decide to dip one of the Internet cheapy pregnancy tests just to have a practice to see what a BFP line might look like so I know what to look for!!! Who does a bloody BFP practice run??!!

SharyBobbins · 06/08/2015 10:15

Fingers crossed (is that fx in forum speak?!) you get the result you want on Friday Tabby. Hope you get a supportive response from your GP if you end up making an appointment x

Just wanted to say hello Banana! I'm quite an anxious person anyway but ttc has sent me overboard! Coming off the pill seems to have unleashed a whole load of irrational feelings & behaviours I've not experienced since I was a stroppy teen! It great that you got a positive OPK, fingers crossed for you too! Xx

bananamonkey · 06/08/2015 09:44

Hi everyone, wow lots of activity going on!

I have friends who have been trying for 2 years now and they are several years younger than me so it definitely makes you anxious about your own chances, I worry I've left it too late

Well I finally got a positive OPK on day 29 of cycle 1, I had given up testing as I was fed up but then I noticed EWCM. Having been on the pill for nearly 15 years it was very strange but was very definite so I tested and got a positive! Luckily we had dtd the day before as well so fingers crossed.

I know it's pretty unlikely that we'll conceive first time (how the eff does anyone get accidentally pregnant?!) but I have a business trip in 5 weeks time and have agreed to stay an extra day to go to a theme park with a colleague (it's in US), now I've googled lots of awful things rollercoasters causing MC :(

Tabby84 · 05/08/2015 23:32

Great news shary!
I did a test this eve after thinking I had IB at the weekend. It was negative Hmm No idea if I'm technically early or late as cycles have varied. Going to do another test on Friday first thing to be sure and then accept I just had a random 1 day AF.
On the plus side if it was AF then my cycles are reducing so less time to wait!
Planning to go to GP too so your update has given me motivation Smile

SharyBobbins · 05/08/2015 20:56

Thank you ladies x

Sizzle81 · 05/08/2015 19:58

Great news Shary!! xx

PallasCat · 05/08/2015 16:56

That's great, Shary! Good news.

SharyBobbins · 05/08/2015 16:10

Glad your feeling a little better today Sizzle Smile
Not really sure what prompted me but rang my GP practice earlier to ask whether any of the GP's have a fertility-type specialism in case I need to see a GP in the future (they don't!). Told the receptionist about my long cycles & anxiety/confusion over it all & the next thing I know she's getting a GP to call me back.
The GP was lovely & has booked me in for 'day 21' type bloods (day 35 in my case). I'm genuinely shocked (but made up) that he didn't tell me to phone back when its been 12 months. Got my one and only peak on day 33 so he wants to test a couple of days after that. If anyone else is unsure whether to book a GP appointment before 12 months of trying it might be worth just ringing your practice to see what their policy is- from what he said my particular surgery starts acting from 6 months of long/irregular periods regardless of age x

Sizzle81 · 05/08/2015 13:42

Thanks everyone. I'm feeling less wobbly today!!
Yes, fingers crossed for us all xx

PallasCat · 05/08/2015 09:52

Aww sorry sizzle Sad.

Totally agree about anxiety because we've not done this before. When we first started a couple of months ago DH said was I sure I was ready to start trying now, because once we started it could all happen really quickly. Couldn't bring myself to say uh, yeah, it could....

Well, FX for us all this cycle Smile

SharyBobbins · 04/08/2015 22:05

Yep! My husband was pretty confident we were going to get pregnant the first month of trying and I think he was quietly disappointed when we didn't! He doesn't have children already, I think it was simply based on male pride! Likewise, how people fall pregnant by accident is beyond me! Oh to be that lucky!

Sizzle81 · 04/08/2015 21:55

Exactly! How do people "accidently" get pregnant!!
Oh, if only!
I think I just felt really positive this month and now not so much, but oh well.
Early night for me! xxx

Mermaid36 · 04/08/2015 21:42

Yeah, my hubby was also surprised/shocked when I told him about the tiny window of opportunity we had.... I think he thought we'd DTD a few times a week for a couple of months and it would all magically happen...

SharyBobbins · 04/08/2015 21:12

I know what you mean Sizzle, because I've never been pregnant I keep having thoughts about not being able to conceive. I'm sure other ladies on this thread probably do too Sad I can't even begin to imagine how frustrated you are feeling tonight. I think my hubby was quite shocked when I explained how narrow the window of opportunity to get pregnant is (to be honest I think I'm still shocked by it!) xx

Sizzle81 · 04/08/2015 20:43

Hi Shary- OH is not away. He has quite a low sex drive and just isn't interested although does was a child with me. He has a 5 yr old dd and I get the idea that it didn't take long to conceive her. I have tried to explain about the small windows and how lucky he actually is that it only took a couple of months but he just doesn't get it.
I'm of course panicking because, having never been pregnant, I worry that I'm not fertile. Grr! Sorry for the rant but I've been keeping it bottled!! xx
How are you this evening? !!

SharyBobbins · 04/08/2015 20:25

Sending you lots of luck Banana, I really hope everything works out for you.
Is your other half away Sizzle? Hope you're okay, you sound very fed up x

Sizzle81 · 04/08/2015 19:43

Wow Banana!!! What a roller coaster! So glad things have turned positive for you. Fx x
So sorry for those with long cycles. I really hadn't thought about the negative side.
Nothing to report on my end. Just pissed at OH as no dtd at all so am sure I've missed this month.
